4. The Don’ts of Classroom Management
• Do not publicly discipline a student as this will
lead more off task behaviors and give students
the chance to escalate.
• Do not lose control of your emotions as they will
learn what buttons of yours to push.
• Only refer students with disciplinary referrals for
major infractions as you are handing over your
problem to someone else.

5. Organization
• When you have well-organized procedures for your classroom, you model
and prompt organized behavior from your students.
• It is important to have clear and specific directions for teachers and students,
but as the teacher you must have plans in place for the classroom to run
smoothly.

obey rules or a code of behavior; using
punishment to correct disobedience.

doing something.
• Routines - A sequence of actions regularly
