2. NEURON
⮚Neuron or nerve cell is the structural and
fundamental unit of nervous system.
⮚ It is the basic building block of the
nervous system.
⮚Neurons are specialized to transmit
information throughout the body.
⮚These highly specialized nerve cells are
responsible for communicating information
in both chemical & electrical forms.

3. PARTS OF NEUTRON
✔DENDRITES : A nerve cell can have many
dendrites which branch many times, their
surfaces are irregular and covered in dendritic
spines. Dendritic tip of nerve cell sets off a
chemical reaction that creates an electrical
impulse.
✔ CELL BODY(soma): The Electrical impulse
travels from the dendrite to the cell body. It
produces all the proteins for the dendrites
,axons & synaptic terminals

4. ⮚AXONS: At the end of the axon ,
the electrical impulse sets off the
release of chemicals. Axon is the
main conducting unit of the neuron
⮚MYELIN SHEATH: It protects
the nerve fibre .It is the insulation of
the nerve fibre
