Strategic Restructuring and Organizational Developments
Strategic Restructuring and Organizational Developments
Introduction
This discussion is directed toward company restructuring and repositioning, specifically my personal experiences in a project dependant industry, and
the evolution of a business structure and organizational culture of flexibility and adaptability. Many companies operating in a project specific and
contract dependant industry are required to align employees with processes and strategies to ensure smooth transition in an often dynamic and
changeable environment. Companies competing in dynamic market environments have evolved and adapted to stay competitive and profitable. It is
important to recognize the alignment of company culture toward the employee and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The real impact during transition was felt on a personal level with organizational structure change and project reassignment.
Change can often be viewed as positive, as the case in a successful completion of a life cycle project. The project life cycle is finite and inevitable; there
is excitement surrounding potential for new project opportunities. Also technology and business process improvement can be embraced as the new
generation becomes more accepting and involved in technological advances. Alternatively, negative sentiment can occur in the case of an unexpected
and unplanned scenario such as acquisition or contract non–renewal. Forced change can be extremely difficult, particularly when the changes are
unexpected and devoid of a provisional contingency plan.
Effective Strategy Implementation
An effective restructuring implementation strategy must be considered from the perspective of the organization, the individual and management. In
addition, it is important to distinguish the interrelation factors which drive the organization as a whole through the restructuring planning, transition
and recovery. The factors affecting strategy implementation in discussion are:
Organizational Objective – defining the objective and formulating a strategy.
People Aspects – the impact on employees.
Management of the Transition – actions for positive

By reviewing and analysing the chart we can as employees identify where our areas of self development are needed.
There are many tools and techniques available to assess and develop our skills such as observations, evaluations, one–to–ones, peer feedback for
example. Detailed below are two of the tools which I have utilised to assess current skills and abilities and highlight my development needs which are:
1. SWOT Analysis
The SWOT analysis is a useful way of thinking about your current working position and can help you plan towards your further development.
It is also important to consider the MACRO environment whilst planning for future areas for development as these factors can have an impact on
possible training. PESTLE is a useful tool to enable us to do this. PESTLE assesses the market, including competitors, from the standpoint of a
particular proposition or a business. PESTLE becomes more useful and relevant the larger and more complex the business or proposition, but even for
a very small local business a PESTLE analysis can still throw up one or two very significant issues that might otherwise be missed.
The SIX elements in PESTLE vary in significance depending on the type of business, eg., social factors are more obviously relevant to consumer
businesses or a B2B business close to the consumer–end of the

Personal Development Reflection
As a social work student, I often apply what I learn to my own life first. Using theories discussed through many of my courses, I will analyze my own
personal development. Important moments in my life such as early childhood, early adulthood, and family and peer dynamics aspects to consider when
thinking about my life up to this point. Early Childhood During early childhood, bodies and minds develop very quickly. Because these developments
are made in the areas of motor, language, and cognition, it is easiest to understand them through the medical model. I will use Ainsworth's styles of
attachment, Chess and Thomas' temperament styles, and caregiving styles to explain my development through this early stage of life. Ainsworth Mary
Ainsworth uses four different types of attachment to discuss relationships between caregiver and infant: secure, insecure avoidant, insecure resistant,
and insecure disorganized. Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver is seen as safe, giving the infant the opportunity to explore, but always
having somewhere to return. When an infant doesn't interact with the caregiver in their presence, but cries when they leave it is considered an
insecure avoidant attachment. The next style, insecure resistant, is described as an infant who wants to stay close to the caregiver, but does not
respond well when given comfort. The last style of attachment, insecure disorganized, occurs when the child shows fear and resistance around their
caregiver (Rogers, 2016). Being an infant during this time in my life, I had to rely on insight from my mother to discover which attachment style I
possessed. Based on her descriptions, I would categorize myself with a secure attachment style. From a young age, I have been very outgoing and
independent, which may have come from this early attachment. In addition, although I always have the people in my life I can go back to when I need
them, I do not rely on them. This shows parallel growth from the secure attachment style described by Ainsworth (Rogers, 2016). Chess and Thomas
Consistent behavioral and emotional responses to our environment are described as our temperament. This temperament is thought to be a part of us

Cultural Competence And Academic Development
California is a hodgepodge of cultures and ethnicities. With the population on the rise, the demographics in California is becoming more and more
socioculturally diverse. In the field of education, interactions with varying cultures is inevitable. Hence, to become an effective school counselor, it is
essential to have sociocultural competence. Cultural competence refers to having an understanding of the different cultural experiences of individuals
other than your own. It is a mindset of having effective interaction with others regardless of cultural beliefs or demographic membership (Stephens &
Lindsey, 2011,Kindle location 943). It is a continuous inside–out process of both personal growth and professional development. It is "who we are,
more than what we do" (Stephens & Lindsey, 2011, Kindle location 945). It is the process of assessing your own values and beliefs, and changing
your own perspective and behavior in order to better serve students.
Academic Development To foster academic resilience and development in students, it is important to establish a comprehensive school counseling and
guidance program. This program should provide guidelines for counselors, educators and administrators alike of having a moral vision in educating
students at high levels and upholding cultural proficient practices (Stephens & Lindsey, 2011, Kindle location 1069). It is theschool counselor's

1.2. LEARNING STYLES
For the beginning, the most important problem that can be identified when deciding to be a solicitor is learning how to take the rejections. The
experimental Learning Theory of Kolb emphasizes direct experiences, including cognitive, emotional and environmental factors that are present or
influence the learning process. It incorporates four models of learning: activist, pragmatist, theorist and reflector. These four stages learning cycle
shows that experience is transformed through reflection in concept.
For solving this problem, a mixture between all these kind of learner can help very well. The first one, activist is where the learner wants to plan how
to try a model or theory for the forthcoming experience.
The pragmatist is where the learner is doing the experience in an activity such as lab session or any other field work.
The theorist, when learner attempts to conceptualize the theory or the model about the observed thing.

Personal Philosophy: Child Development and Teaching Essay
Personal Philosophy
Introduction
Child development is divided into four areas of development; social / emotional, physical (motor), cognitive, and language. Typically children develop
in a sequence of stages in each area. Although development normally follows the same series of stages, there are individual differences in what age
each stage occurs. Development in part depends on the experiences a child encounters. According to Wardle (2004),young children learn from their
total experience in a program. For example, children not only learn during teacher directed activities, they also learn while playing in interest areas, on
the playground, while riding the bus, or during meals. Vygotsky saw the child as part of an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As children's bodies become more streamlined and less top–heavy, their center of gravity shifts downwards toward the trunk. As a result, balance
improves greatly, paving the way for new motor skills involving large muscles of the body. (Berk, 1999) During the preschool years until
approximately age seven, fundamental motor skills develop including the locomotor skills needed to run, jump, hop, and skip. Also the object control
skills such as throwing, catching, and kicking are developing. By the age of six or seven, children begin to integrate two or more of these skills.
Though all children will not develop these skills at the same age, they will follow the same sequence.
During the early childhood period, environments should be organized to promote motor development. During toddlerhood the environment should be
organized to allow the toddler space to explore and move. Confining the child to a limited space such as a playpen could result in a delay in their large
motor skills. (Charlesworth, 2004) The environment for the preschooler should be conducive to learning these skills. Adequate outdoor play time
should be allotted for the children to have the opportunity to run, jump, throw balls, and other activities to strengthen the large muscles.
Social and Emotional Development
Social and emotional competence are important to an individual's well–being and success later in life. A bond or attachment is typically

In order to fully understand the personal development and reflective reasoning in relation to your development in the Nursing field, one will have to
define these two terminologies. Personal development means to include activities that improve awareness, can develop potential that will ultimately

"To be able to reflect one must step outside the experience in order to make the observance comprehendible" Gray (1998). To do this, one must have
motivation. When speaking of motivation, task variety and participation allows each member of the team to use different skills as well as rotating the
less desirable tasks giving a cohesive feeling to the team while motivating them. Bowen and Lawler (1992), argue practices that empower such as
providing organizational information to employee, bureaucratic control reduction and increased self–power all helps to increase employee motivation.
French and Raven (1959) add that motivation is a characteristic that makes one want to do or carryout a task willingly without being directed.
Leadership is an important role in life and an even more important role in the success of a nurse. To be a leader one must be creative. Creativity

Improving Quality And Standards Of Health Services
A recent study, by Baur, Fehr, Mayer, Pawlu & Schaudel (2011) concluded that the growing demand in health sector, resulted in rapid change in patients'
expectations. As a result, meeting patients' expectations, while maintaining standards and quality of healthcare service has been the crucial part in
health sector. However, maintaining the service standards does not only refer to increasing the number of health professionals. Providing optimal care
service to the patient, also contributes hugely in improving quality and standards of health service. Taking this thing in consideration, in 1994,
continuing medical education (CME) programme was launched and it gradually broadened to cover professional education. Hence, in 2000, CME

The HCPC, also expects all the health registered professionals to undertake CPD programme and comply to their five standards of CPD, to remain
registered with them and for fitness to practise. If, under any circumstances, the health professionals fail to meet the standards of CPD, they may ask to
remove their registration from the register (HCPC, 2014). However, as mentioned by the Society and College of Radiographers (2014, a), the
importance of undertaking CPD is not just about maintaining registration with the regulatory body. CPD ensures that the knowledge and skill of health
professionals are up–to–date and relevant, it ensures continue competence and monitors personal and professional effectiveness (Giri et al., 2012).
In a journal, by Shlom (2014), she stated, "The CPD model is cyclical and involves 4 phases: reflect, plan, learn, and evaluate." Monitoring and
recording activities, undertaken by health professionals as a part of CPD, serves as a tool for reflection and self–evaluation. It allows them to reflect on
their learning/actions and identify their weakness and strength. It also gives them chance to evaluate the outcomes of their activities, learn from their
mistakes/success and plan for the future from their experiences. Furthermore, by following

Personal Factors That Influence A Childa € Tms Development
There are numerous dissimilar personal factors that influence a childâ€TMs development For instance disability i.e. Physical
* Wheelchair bound
* Cerebral Palsy
* Downs Syndrome
* Cystic Fibrosis
Even though schools nowadays go an extra mile in accommodating physically disabled children in mainstream education and providing the same
opportunities for learning and development for everyone, wheelchair bound children i.e. can be potentially held up in their physical progression. A
limited control of the limbs can make it more difficult or occasionally impossible for these children to take part in all the normal everyday activities
with their peers and has an undesirable influence on the development of their fine or gross motor skills also their development can be affected in many
ways, not just physically due to the issue, but educationally due to missed education from having to attend hospital appointments .also with the child
not being able to join in this could also lead to the child feeling emotionally left out and secluded. Socially this could affect the child 's speech and
language communication with others.Overall this could slow down the child 's intellectual development. I.e. Children with Downs Syndrome have a
tendency to have lower muscle tone and most children with this disability stereotypically reach developmental milestones for instance sitting up,
crawling, and walking later than other children who donâ€TMt have a disability.

Task 1: Personal Case Study
Student context
As current student's will be entering into the most volatile job market, in living memory, it is important to consider a number of contexts effecting their
learning and career development, in order to achieve greater outcomes.
It is important teachers assist students in developing self–awareness regarding interests, aptitudes, abilities and values. (Parsons, 1909) Module 1,
suggests educators should provide vocational guidance, sources and types of career information required for effective decisions making.
The 'Australian Blueprint for Career Development', as noted in Module 4 of the learning activities, is an ideal starting point for educators when
considering student career development into their teaching practices.
Following the basic guidelines set out in the blueprint, appendix 2, whilst adhering to learning and career development theories, will create a higher
success rate for students and improve my capabilities as a teacher.
Self–projection monitoring
Bandura's social learning theory suggests that the learning process is a cognitive process, which occurs in a social environment, through observation or
direct instruction, regardless of repetition or learning reinforcement. (Bandura, 1999) Thereby suggesting that students can learn values, attitudes and
ideas, through the imitation or observations of the values and attitudes of their teachers.
Therefore, educators must become explicitly aware of how they project

Personal and Occupational Development Throughout the Lifespan
Personal and Occupational Development throughout the Lifespan The following essay will use a lifespan perspective to discuss how major transitions
can influence both occupational and personal development. Using occupation as a coping strategy during stressful transitions will also be explored.
The narrative discussed was derived from an informal, semi–structured interview. Occupational development will explore how the meanings associated
with occupations can change and how this can be reflective of their current life–stage. The essay will begin with an outline of the precautions taken to
maintain the interviewee's confidentiality. This will be followed by a brief explanation of the lifespan and occupational models that will be used
throughout the essay. A summary of the interviewee's narrative will then be provided. This will be expanded upon by using lifespan theories.
Confidentiality Seidman (2013) identified a number of ways of maintaining a participant's anonymity when conducting an interview. Consideration was
give to these guidelines throughout the essay. The pseudonym 'Chloe' was used to refer to the interviewee for the purposes of the essay. Along with
this, identifying details such have been removed or changed. The specific nature of the Chloe's routine, activities and occupations have also been

Within this report and portfolio there is going to be analysis on different employability skills covered within this my first year at university and,
evidence of how they are incorporated in my own development as a Business Leadership and Corporate Management student to successfully hold a
placement for the next two years of my degree.
2.Why Employability Matters?
Employability is a key determination around the way the world works. It 'is about being capable of getting and keeping fulfilling work' where people
can move through jobs in different markets maintaining employment. (Hillage & Pollard, 1998, p. 2) In 2009 a survey completed by the Confederation
of British Industry concluded that 'employability skills was one of the most important factors when recruiting graduates.' (CBI, 2009, p.11) Through
universities, colleges, employers and the government focusing on implementing employability in to core education this not only helps with student
engagement around the idea of employment (HEFCE, 2011, p.5), but also helps to 'foster and develop a culture of progression and life–long learning'
(Cole & Tibby, 2013, p.5).
3.What are Employability Skills?
Employability skills can be described as 'having a set of skills, knowledge and personal attributes that make a person more likely to secure, and be

Coaching and Mentoring
ABSTRACT
Introductions
The use of coaching and mentoring is on the rise within the workplace. Several organizations have adopted the process of coaching and mentoring as
development tools to develop those employees who are seeking future advancement. Also, they are setting the foundation for future leaders. The
adaption of these developmental tools within an organization is providing employees with the necessary feedback and support to establish and plan
their career. Coaching and mentoring provides an employee with the necessary leadership and management skills they would need to strive up the career
ladder within an organization. These processes are both 'helping' activities, employed either as distinct interventions or together ... Show more content

They need that continual feedback about goal achievement as well as the necessary support to improve their overall job performance. For managers to
provide employees feedback and support in the form of coaching, developmental training, or managerial skills, these development are particularly
relevant when employees are establishing their careers. (Cummings, 2009) In the workplace, employees want their managers to observe their work
actions, and provide them comments on their executions and technical knowledge, which may be lacking. When employees are establishing careers,
they are going to have concerns about how well they are performing tasks, job expectations, duties and responsibilities also wanting to gain the
necessary knowledge and skills for advancement. That is why the role of a mentor and coach are essential in an employee's development. It does not
matter how much education and training a person receives, for a person to incorporate new skills and knowledge which it takes to get to that next level
within the organization takes time, practice and feedback. Continual feedback and support interventions are very important; they provide employees
with the tools which are necessary for their career development within the organization.

Developing Self-Awareness Is a Requirement for All...
Developing self–awareness as a counsellor is considered "central to many of the mainstream theoretical approaches" (Mcleod, 2009, p624). I will argue
that without the development of self–awareness neither a trainee nor qualified counsellor can meet the core conditions set out in most theoretical
approaches to counselling, congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard. I will also argue that counselling trainees need to experience the
role of client themselves before they can take others on the same road to self discovery. To answer the benefits and difficulties of the counselling
trainee developing self–awareness whilst practicing skills in triads I will argue the feedback received from fellow peers can be very beneficial to... Show

Sanders (2011) argues that "By talking about ourselves as honestly as we can in a safe environment and listening to the feedback from others, we
can check whether the view we have of ourselves is the one received by others" (Sanders, 2011, p61). Feedback not only raises our awareness to what
we say but, and perhaps more importantly, how we say it – our non–verbal communication. The influence of non–verbal communication on a clients
view of their counsellor can be taught, but I was amazed at just how unaware I was of my own body language. During my first few triads I could
not control my hands, eventually opting to sit on them which was perceived as uncomfortable and a result of my nervousness. "Receiving feedback
gives us a chance to change and modify in order to communicate more effectively" (Tolan & Lendrum, 1995, p30) and creates awareness of the
importance of effective communication when building a genuine relationship with your client. Receiving feedback can also raise our awareness of
the value of receiving genuine feedback itself, as well as a need to sensitively communicate feedback to others. This also creates a greater sense of
empathy toward others. Triads also enable the trainee to receive feedback from a variety of different people, not just their tutor. The diversity found
within a training group will be reflected back to the trainee within feedback received. My group has much diversity with regards to sexuality,

At the Introduction to PD workshop I identified two broad reasons why I decided to pursue my MBA. The first was to develop my competence as a
manager. The second and more important reason was to advance my career by making myself more marketable. The job market today is undoubtedly
very competitive and I realised that a first degree was not sufficient if I wanted to 'climb the corporate ladder'. It is hoped that this MBA would help
me to take advantage of any future opportunities when they become available. My personal development journey thus far has quite ... Show more

are more in line with my personality. At work I get involved in various projects and 4
I am a great team player. I am always willing to lend support and I generally get along well with other colleagues. I feel confident that I can display
this level of commitment to the team assignments during the second stage of the MBA program. My coaching and facilitation skills however are
in need of serious development. Again I think my personality has a major part to play because I always avoid roles that would entail me being in
the spot light and I just prefer to blend in. With this understanding of the roles that I am more likely to gravitate towards and the ones I stay clear
of, I have to wonder if avoiding the other roles would negatively impact on my overall development. But I also question if this is how group
dynamics work since no one person can be perfect at everything. But I definitely know that my shyness and lack of confidence is one of my biggest
weaknesses which could jeopardize my effectiveness as a leader or manager.

Personal Assessment Of Strengths And Areas For Development
What did you learn about your leadership? Personal Assessment of Strengths and Areas for Development. I have more than one overdone strengths.
One of them is over–optimism about people, organization, and trust in the management team. Whether it's upper level, or middle management, I
always feel that they know the best, and they know what they are doing. I only see that everything is done accurately as they are versus how they
could or should be. Remaining loyal to others and the organization does cause issues for me, because others don't normally see it that way. Trying
to make things easier for others, or trying to be less of a burden on others is perceived as I have no backbone of myself. Defending the rights of
others is seen as I'm just always siding with the others. Ensuring others are valued is seen as what do I need from them. Being sincere is seen as I
don't know what I'm doing, and am very easy to please, so I can be ignored. Involve family and friends to point out to me when I'm over using my
strengths. This will make me aware of what I really need to concentrate on. This will help me focus and align my strengths on the needs of everyone,
and the organization, and concentrate on other people who have complementary strengths. Realization that my overdone strengths could in fact be
detrimental to not only my progress, but also others. In general, overdoing it may hurt my effectiveness just as much as underdoing it. I have to be
more cognizance of how others are

Lifespan Development : Cognitive, And Personal And Social...
Lifespan Psychology
Introduction
Lifespan Development is the field of study that examines patterns, modes of growth, change, and stability in behavior that occur throughout the entire
lifespan of an individual. There are so many things to keep in mind about Lifespan Psychology;
1.Lifespan Psychology is a scientific, developmental approach that focuses on human development.
2.Scientists who study the lifespan know that neither heredity nor environment alone can account for the full range of human development.
3.Development is a continuing process throughout the lifespan.
4.Every period of life contains potential for growth and decline in abilities.
There are three known major areas of study in Lifespan Development which are the Physical, Cognitive, and personal and social development. These
groups have to do with age and range of Lifespan Psychology. Lifespan literally connotes from cradle to grave, in other words from conception to
death. Lifespan is divided into these following age periods; prenatal, infancy, toddlerhood, middle childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, middle
adulthood, late adulthood and death. There are several key issues in Lifespan Psychology which are centered on these following factors which are;
cultural factors, continuous vs discontinuous change, critical periods vs sensitive periods, lifespan approach vs particular periods approach, nature vs
nurture.
The major theoretical perspectives in Lifespan Psychology is termed a broad, organized

Strategies for promoting continuous development: achieving competence, training versus education, partnerships, staff development plans, compliance

In assessing the individual effectiveness is by describing different ways in which the performance of individuals working in health and social care may

Personal Human Growth And Development Timeline
Personal Human growth and development timeline Going through this class and learning about each of the different phases was interesting. To
go through and see which ones I have personally experienced. When we started to get in late adulthood it was slightly depressing thinking about
growing old and the factor of death. Each part of our development we go through will mater when we reach that point in our lives if you think
about it in that context. That's why it is important to know your family history in order to plan for you future and prevent things from happening.
The first type of development we have learned about was heredity and prenatal development. I guess you can say I have experienced that, which is
weird to think about. I do not remember it, clearly! In this stage you are having genetic influences in your life, also transmission of physical traits
to you (Rathus, 2015, pg. 27). During this stage in my life this is when I received all my physical and genetic traits. Like the color of my eyes, my
gender, the slight astigmatism in my left eye, the color of my hair. I personally do not have any children so I do not know what it is like to
experience prenatal development in my own children. Luckily my parents didn't pass down any bad genetic traits to me. I am blessed with the life I
have. The next type of development that comes is infancy development of physical, cogitative, social and emotional development. I am grouping these

Self-Awareness and Contiuous Self-Development Essay
SELF AWARENESS AND CONTINUOUS SELF DEVELOPMENT WORD COUNT: 1098 words This part will discuss self
–awareness and
continuous self–development through analyzing a number of prior researches, then come up with the link of them to support my role as a manager in
the future. Self–awareness Self–awareness is a terminology that has been widely discussed in not only psychological but also business and
managerial perspectives. There are a number of authors trying to propose different definitions of it. In very earlier research, the theory developed by
Wicklund (1975, 1978, 1979) defines self–awareness mostly as one's ability to self–observe. That person will base on certain standard or new
information to judge his own behavior (as cited in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The higher level of self–awareness an individual has, the more effective he has in work performance. Church's finding in 1997 is also consistent with
that research on managerial self–awareness. He reports that higher levels of managerial self–awareness are positively related to greater levels of
individual effectiveness as rated by supervisors. Similarly, following Goleman (1995)'s research, self–awareness inadequacy can damage one person's
relationships and career (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). However, there are cases people can refuse self–awareness. According to Maslow
(1962), people avoid acquiring new knowledge about themselves because of the uncertain and uncomfortable feelings they can receive (as cited in
Whetten & Cameron, 2011). Whetten and Cameron (2011) believe dis–closure is the key for people to overcome that panic. By discussing one's own
aspects with others, people can reduce the ambiguity of problems. For instance, through exchanging results of self–analysis toolkits in Developing Self
seminars, people can be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as receive feedbacks from others. Their Johari Window of what I
know and what others know can be more extended. Continuous self–development Self–development is also appeared in many works, especially in a
context of an organization. Self–development is defined by Knowles (1975, p. 18, cited in Ellinger, 2004) as "a process in which individuals takes the

Strategic Restructuring And Organizational Developments

  • 1. Strategic Restructuring and Organizational Developments Strategic Restructuring and Organizational Developments Introduction This discussion is directed toward company restructuring and repositioning, specifically my personal experiences in a project dependant industry, and the evolution of a business structure and organizational culture of flexibility and adaptability. Many companies operating in a project specific and contract dependant industry are required to align employees with processes and strategies to ensure smooth transition in an often dynamic and changeable environment. Companies competing in dynamic market environments have evolved and adapted to stay competitive and profitable. It is important to recognize the alignment of company culture toward the employee and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The real impact during transition was felt on a personal level with organizational structure change and project reassignment. Change can often be viewed as positive, as the case in a successful completion of a life cycle project. The project life cycle is finite and inevitable; there is excitement surrounding potential for new project opportunities. Also technology and business process improvement can be embraced as the new generation becomes more accepting and involved in technological advances. Alternatively, negative sentiment can occur in the case of an unexpected and unplanned scenario such as acquisition or contract non–renewal. Forced change can be extremely difficult, particularly when the changes are unexpected and devoid of a provisional contingency plan. Effective Strategy Implementation An effective restructuring implementation strategy must be considered from the perspective of the organization, the individual and management. In addition, it is important to distinguish the interrelation factors which drive the organization as a whole through the restructuring planning, transition and recovery. The factors affecting strategy implementation in discussion are: Organizational Objective – defining the objective and formulating a strategy. People Aspects – the impact on employees. Management of the Transition – actions for positive

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Source: BIC Innovation 2010 By reviewing and analysing the chart we can as employees identify where our areas of self development are needed. There are many tools and techniques available to assess and develop our skills such as observations, evaluations, one–to–ones, peer feedback for example. Detailed below are two of the tools which I have utilised to assess current skills and abilities and highlight my development needs which are: 1. SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis is a useful way of thinking about your current working position and can help you plan towards your further development.
  • 4. It is also important to consider the MACRO environment whilst planning for future areas for development as these factors can have an impact on possible training. PESTLE is a useful tool to enable us to do this. PESTLE assesses the market, including competitors, from the standpoint of a particular proposition or a business. PESTLE becomes more useful and relevant the larger and more complex the business or proposition, but even for a very small local business a PESTLE analysis can still throw up one or two very significant issues that might otherwise be missed. The SIX elements in PESTLE vary in significance depending on the type of business, eg., social factors are more obviously relevant to consumer businesses or a B2B business close to the consumer–end of the ... • 5. Personal Development Reflection As a social work student, I often apply what I learn to my own life first. Using theories discussed through many of my courses, I will analyze my own personal development. Important moments in my life such as early childhood, early adulthood, and family and peer dynamics aspects to consider when thinking about my life up to this point. Early Childhood During early childhood, bodies and minds develop very quickly. Because these developments are made in the areas of motor, language, and cognition, it is easiest to understand them through the medical model. I will use Ainsworth's styles of attachment, Chess and Thomas' temperament styles, and caregiving styles to explain my development through this early stage of life. Ainsworth Mary Ainsworth uses four different types of attachment to discuss relationships between caregiver and infant: secure, insecure avoidant, insecure resistant, and insecure disorganized. Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver is seen as safe, giving the infant the opportunity to explore, but always having somewhere to return. When an infant doesn't interact with the caregiver in their presence, but cries when they leave it is considered an insecure avoidant attachment. The next style, insecure resistant, is described as an infant who wants to stay close to the caregiver, but does not respond well when given comfort. The last style of attachment, insecure disorganized, occurs when the child shows fear and resistance around their caregiver (Rogers, 2016). Being an infant during this time in my life, I had to rely on insight from my mother to discover which attachment style I possessed. Based on her descriptions, I would categorize myself with a secure attachment style. From a young age, I have been very outgoing and independent, which may have come from this early attachment. In addition, although I always have the people in my life I can go back to when I need them, I do not rely on them. This shows parallel growth from the secure attachment style described by Ainsworth (Rogers, 2016). Chess and Thomas Consistent behavioral and emotional responses to our environment are described as our temperament. This temperament is thought to be a part of us when we ... With the population on the rise, the demographics in California is becoming more and more socioculturally diverse. In the field of education, interactions with varying cultures is inevitable. Hence, to become an effective school counselor, it is essential to have sociocultural competence. Cultural competence refers to having an understanding of the different cultural experiences of individuals other than your own. It is a mindset of having effective interaction with others regardless of cultural beliefs or demographic membership (Stephens & Lindsey, 2011,Kindle location 943). It is a continuous inside–out process of both personal growth and professional development. It is "who we are, more than what we do" (Stephens & Lindsey, 2011, Kindle location 945). It is the process of assessing your own values and beliefs, and changing your own perspective and behavior in order to better serve students. Academic Development To foster academic resilience and development in students, it is important to establish a comprehensive school counseling and guidance program. This program should provide guidelines for counselors, educators and administrators alike of having a moral vision in educating students at high levels and upholding cultural proficient practices (Stephens & Lindsey, 2011, Kindle location 1069). The experimental Learning Theory of Kolb emphasizes direct experiences, including cognitive, emotional and environmental factors that are present or influence the learning process. It incorporates four models of learning: activist, pragmatist, theorist and reflector. These four stages learning cycle shows that experience is transformed through reflection in concept. • 14. Personal Philosophy: Child Development and Teaching Essay Personal Philosophy Introduction Child development is divided into four areas of development; social / emotional, physical (motor), cognitive, and language. Typically children develop in a sequence of stages in each area. Although development normally follows the same series of stages, there are individual differences in what age each stage occurs. Development in part depends on the experiences a child encounters. According to Wardle (2004),young children learn from their total experience in a program. For example, children not only learn during teacher directed activities, they also learn while playing in interest areas, on the playground, while riding the bus, or during meals. Vygotsky saw the child as part of an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As children's bodies become more streamlined and less top–heavy, their center of gravity shifts downwards toward the trunk. As a result, balance improves greatly, paving the way for new motor skills involving large muscles of the body. (Berk, 1999) During the preschool years until approximately age seven, fundamental motor skills develop including the locomotor skills needed to run, jump, hop, and skip. Also the object control skills such as throwing, catching, and kicking are developing. By the age of six or seven, children begin to integrate two or more of these skills. Though all children will not develop these skills at the same age, they will follow the same sequence. During the early childhood period, environments should be organized to promote motor development. During toddlerhood the environment should be organized to allow the toddler space to explore and move. Confining the child to a limited space such as a playpen could result in a delay in their large motor skills. I will also argue that counselling trainees need to experience the role of client themselves before they can take others on the same road to self discovery. Sanders (2011) argues that "By talking about ourselves as honestly as we can in a safe environment and listening to the feedback from others, we can check whether the view we have of ourselves is the one received by others" (Sanders, 2011, p61). Feedback not only raises our awareness to what we say but, and perhaps more importantly, how we say it – our non–verbal communication. The influence of non–verbal communication on a clients view of their counsellor can be taught, but I was amazed at just how unaware I was of my own body language. During my first few triads I could not control my hands, eventually opting to sit on them which was perceived as uncomfortable and a result of my nervousness. "Receiving feedback gives us a chance to change and modify in order to communicate more effectively" (Tolan & Lendrum, 1995, p30) and creates awareness of the importance of effective communication when building a genuine relationship with your client. Receiving feedback can also raise our awareness of the value of receiving genuine feedback itself, as well as a need to sensitively communicate feedback to others. This also creates a greater sense of empathy toward others. Triads also enable the trainee to receive feedback from a variety of different people, not just their tutor. Personal Development Review and Plan Personal Development Stage 1 Review and Development Plan Table of Contents Page Introduction My Personal Development Review My Personal Development Plan 3 4–5 6–7 2 Introduction At the Introduction to PD workshop I identified two broad reasons why I decided to pursue my MBA. The first was to develop my competence as a manager. The second and more important reason was to advance my career by making myself more marketable. The job market today is undoubtedly very competitive and I realised that a first degree was not sufficient if I wanted to 'climb the corporate ladder'. It is hoped that this MBA would help me to take advantage of any future opportunities when they become available. My personal development journey thus far has quite ... The team roles that best describe me are: Monitor Evaluator, Team worker and Completer/Finisher (Belbin 1993). If I know myself as well as I think I do, I think these roles are more in line with my personality. At work I get involved in various projects and 4 I am a great team player. I am always willing to lend support and I generally get along well with other colleagues. I feel confident that I can display this level of commitment to the team assignments during the second stage of the MBA program. My coaching and facilitation skills however are in need of serious development. Again I think my personality has a major part to play because I always avoid roles that would entail me being in the spot light and I just prefer to blend in. With this understanding of the roles that I am more likely to gravitate towards and the ones I stay clear of, I have to wonder if avoiding the other roles would negatively impact on my overall development. But I also question if this is how group

  • 40. Personal Assessment Of Strengths And Areas For Development What did you learn about your leadership? Personal Assessment of Strengths and Areas for Development. I have more than one overdone strengths. One of them is over–optimism about people, organization, and trust in the management team. Whether it's upper level, or middle management, I always feel that they know the best, and they know what they are doing. I only see that everything is done accurately as they are versus how they could or should be. Remaining loyal to others and the organization does cause issues for me, because others don't normally see it that way. Trying to make things easier for others, or trying to be less of a burden on others is perceived as I have no backbone of myself. Defending the rights of others is seen as I'm just always siding with the others. Ensuring others are valued is seen as what do I need from them. Being sincere is seen as I don't know what I'm doing, and am very easy to please, so I can be ignored. Involve family and friends to point out to me when I'm over using my strengths. This will make me aware of what I really need to concentrate on. This will help me focus and align my strengths on the needs of everyone, and the organization, and concentrate on other people who have complementary strengths. Realization that my overdone strengths could in fact be detrimental to not only my progress, but also others. In general, overdoing it may hurt my effectiveness just as much as underdoing it. I have to be more cognizance of how others are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Personal Human Growth And Development Timeline Personal Human growth and development timeline Going through this class and learning about each of the different phases was interesting. To go through and see which ones I have personally experienced. When we started to get in late adulthood it was slightly depressing thinking about growing old and the factor of death. Each part of our development we go through will mater when we reach that point in our lives if you think about it in that context. That's why it is important to know your family history in order to plan for you future and prevent things from happening. The first type of development we have learned about was heredity and prenatal development. I guess you can say I have experienced that, which is weird to think about. I do not remember it, clearly! In this stage you are having genetic influences in your life, also transmission of physical traits to you (Rathus, 2015, pg. 27). During this stage in my life this is when I received all my physical and genetic traits. Like the color of my eyes, my gender, the slight astigmatism in my left eye, the color of my hair. I personally do not have any children so I do not know what it is like to experience prenatal development in my own children. Luckily my parents didn't pass down any bad genetic traits to me. I am blessed with the life I have. The next type of development that comes is infancy development of physical, cogitative, social and emotional development. I am grouping these all together ... Self-Awareness and Contiuous Self-Development Essay SELF AWARENESS AND CONTINUOUS SELF DEVELOPMENT WORD COUNT: 1098 words This part will discuss self –awareness and continuous self–development through analyzing a number of prior researches, then come up with the link of them to support my role as a manager in the future. Self–awareness Self–awareness is a terminology that has been widely discussed in not only psychological but also business and managerial perspectives. There are a number of authors trying to propose different definitions of it. In very earlier research, the theory developed by Wicklund (1975, 1978, 1979) defines self–awareness mostly as one's ability to self–observe. That person will base on certain standard or new information to judge his own behavior (as cited in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The higher level of self–awareness an individual has, the more effective he has in work performance. Church's finding in 1997 is also consistent with that research on managerial self–awareness. He reports that higher levels of managerial self–awareness are positively related to greater levels of individual effectiveness as rated by supervisors. Similarly, following Goleman (1995)'s research, self–awareness inadequacy can damage one person's relationships and career (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). However, there are cases people can refuse self–awareness. According to Maslow (1962), people avoid acquiring new knowledge about themselves because of the uncertain and uncomfortable feelings they can receive (as cited in Whetten & Cameron, 2011). Whetten and Cameron (2011) believe dis–closure is the key for people to overcome that panic. By discussing one's own aspects with others, people can reduce the ambiguity of problems. For instance, through exchanging results of self–analysis toolkits in Developing Self seminars, people can be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as receive feedbacks from others. Their Johari Window of what I know and what others know can be more extended. Continuous self–development Self–development is also appeared in many works, especially in a context of an organization. Self–development is defined by Knowles (1975, p. 18, cited in Ellinger, 2004) as "a process in which individuals takes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
