Digital storytelling can benefit students with disabilities in several ways. It allows for accommodations and adaptations that increase accessibility of the curriculum. Students can both access pre-made digital stories that teach social skills, as well as create their own stories. This fosters language arts skills like editing and encourages creative expression. Studies found students on the autism spectrum displayed similar narrative skills to peers when using digital tools. Digital storytelling motivates students and increases confidence by allowing them to learn and express themselves in a comfortable way.
