Shot 1 introduces the protagonist Alice in the shower. Shot 2 establishes the setting of Alice's school with a wide shot. Shot 3 shows Alice making eye contact with her love interest Maggie across a room. Shot 4 shows a dismembered shot of Alice and Maggie laying together without fully showing them. Shot 5 shows Alice smiling awkwardly as her friends take her picture. Shot 6 shows Alice saying she wonders about others' reactions while looking vulnerably at Maggie from a high angle. Shot 7 reveals abusive social media comments aimed at Alice and her reaction. Shot 8 shows Alice and Maggie arguing while breaking cinematic rules to portray chaos.
2. Shot 1
The short begins with the central protagonist,Alice, in the shower room. This is less of a
shot and more so a scene as it consists of several short shots. One being a low angle shot
of Alice stepping into the shower and the other being ofAlice wiping the steam off the
shower door, revealing her face in a close up shot. This would be the introduction to the
central protagonist:Alice.
3. Shot 2
The second shot is the film trailers establishing shot as it shows the central protagonist in
her natural setting, which is also the setting for the majority of the contents of the film
trailer.A wide shot is used to aid the establishment of the setting: Her school.
4. Shot 3
Alice is with her friends in a social environment like school or a pub. This is where Alice
meets her love interest: Maggie.Alice and Maggie make eye contact across the room,
Maggie is sat with her boyfriend: Brad. An over the shoulder shot/ point of view shot is
used to highlight the eye contact. After they make eye contact the camera pans around to
show Alice’s face looking in Maggie’s direction (reaction shot).
5. Shot 4
The fourth shot is a dismemberment shot of Alice and Maggie which reveals their body
parts laying down next to one another without directly or overtly showing in a wider shot
that they’re laying together.
6. Shot 5
Alice is in between two of her best friends. The two girls are kissing her cheeks as a third
friend takes a picture of the trio. Alice is smiling, slightly awkwardly.A sound bridge from
this shot into Shot 6 is used with dialogue from shot 6: ‘Do you ever wonder | what their
reaction might be?’.The shot stops where the ‘|’ is placed in the sentence above and
continues into shot 6.
7. Shot 6
Shot 6 showsAlice saying the dialogue from the sound bridge in shot 5. Alice is looking up
at Maggie as she finishes her sentence. A high angle over the shoulder shot is used from
behind Maggie, looking down ontoAlice, which subsequently places her in a position of
vulnerability which foreshadows what the rest of the trailer entails.
8. Shot 7
A shot reverse shot reveals abusive social media comments on Alice’s computer screen
and then showsAlice’s reaction to the comments. The comments are primarily from Brad
which suggests to the audience that he has found out about Alice and Maggie’s
relationship.
(I decided that we should used social media instead of physical abuse because social
media is much more intrusive and in keeping with modern social issues).
9. Shot 8
Alice and Maggie are arguing. We plan to break the 180 degree rule in this shot to
highlight the chaos of the situation and to symbolise the gradual descent into madness for
Alice. The focus is more so on the music than the dialogue so the dialogue is quiet but it is
still evident to the audience that they’re shouting. As this is occurring, the music will be
increasing in volume. After this shot, the proceeding shots will increase in pace.
10. Shot 9
Shot 9 will be a follow on from shot 4, a dismemberment shot of Alice and Maggie again
which contrasts with the previous shot 8 which shows them arguing. These two shots are
juxtaposed and also aid the presentation of the descent into chaos for Alice.
11. Shot 10
This shot is a continuation from Shot 7 as it showsAlice scrolling through endless negative
comments on the popular social media platform:Twitter.
12. Shot 11
This shot is a continuation from Shot 6. It showsAlice and Maggie in close proximity. Alice
then says: ‘All has changed since loving you’. Before she says ‘Loving you’, the shot fades
out into the title screen.
Alternatively, Alice could say ‘All has changed since loving her’ to a friend/pet/herself or
even social media in order to repeat the theme of social media. Although, this would
therefore mean that our title would be altered to fit the new phrase: ‘Loving Her’.
13. Shot 12
The title increases in size as it fades in with Alice’s dialogue from Shot 11 over the top.
