UGA Office of STEM Education K-16 Learning Communities Request for Applications for 2011-2012
1. Dear STEM Colleagues:The UGA Office of STEM Education is pleased to announce the K-16 Learning Communities Request for Applications for 2011-2012. Funding will support collaborative efforts of STEM educators to share professional knowledge with the ultimate goal of improving student achievement in STEM at all levels of education. A STEM Learning Community is a group of 6-12 educators who meet for monthly discussions on topics such as improving teaching practices and assessment strategies or informing professional learning. Goals and activities are developed by the group to meet their current professional development needs. Funding may be used for teacher stipends, graduate student support, the purchase of materials for the design and development of professional learning, and/or conference registration and travel.Last year's STEM Learning Communities are encourage to re-apply.
