The present study examines the impact of information literacy programs among engineering college students in Sivagangai district, Tamil Nadu. Information literacy programs help students learn how to use resources in the library and how to access new
resources through information technology education programs, helping students develop their technology skills.Survey method was adopted for this study and a constructs questionnaire was administered to collect data. 140 questionnaires were given to students of Srirajarajan College of Engineering and Technology and AlagappaChettiar Government
College of Engineering and Technology out of which 125 questionnaires were received. Statistical tools used for analysis were chisquare,
independent samples ttest,
and ANOVA for gender, age, and programbased differences in students' IL program. This study plays an important role in finding the right level of awareness. Knowing what the educational needs of the students are, the colleges conduct coaching sessions for the students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AS ADMINISTRATOR:
With administrative acumen and clear vision, I help the management in exercising organizational control. I ensure theory and practical classes and examinations are conducted as per the academic calendar prescribed by the statutory body and manage the evaluation and improvement of education of the students through the strategic deployment of resources provided by the institution. I also monitor feedback of students on a regular basis to encourage the implementation of various instructional strategies. I also encourage the staff members to actively involve in teaching, research and projects leading to registration of patents. I do communicate with the Departments, college community, parents and students on the achievements of the institution and of individual students as appropriate. I plan; prepare a budget and report on manpower requirement, updation of the inventory of library books, and equipments, laboratory establishment before the commencement of each semester. I maintain healthy interaction with industrial organizations to make the teaching – learning process more successful and logical; and to facilitate career opportunities for the students. I periodically review and analyse every aspect of the institution and initiate corrective action and I am capable of building brand image by adopting various measures and enable the college to be profitable on a sustainable basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AS ACADEMICIAN:
I am a voracious reader and I continue to enrich my knowledge in order to keep pace with the technological innovations and its applications. I possess a knack of putting across the concepts in an attractive manner that will hold the attention of student community and the acumen to initiate learning. I also orient the subject to the real-life utility and make the class interesting, informative and educative. I also coordinate with the examination cell in order to prepare and announce in advance the calendar of examinations; arrange to obtain performance of the candidates at the examinations properly assessed and process the results; arrange for the timely publication of results of examinations and other tests; and to initiate disciplinary action where necessary against the candidates found guilty of malpractice in relation to the examinations. I ensure discipline of students in campus and do organize counselling sessions at regular intervals in order to understand the nature of psychosocial problems of students, help them to manage it and improve their mental well-being. I also motivate them to actively participate in symposiums and conferences at the National and International level so as to sharpen their personality traits. I insist the students to become a member of the professional society such as IEEE, ISTE, IETE, IE, etc., and reap the benefits of this professional society.

Status of library automation of general degree college libraries in jhargram ...SAMARJITDEY3
Library automation started in India three decade ago and the initial systems were stand alone applications for each library activity. The term “library automation” refers to the phenomenon of mechanization of traditional library activities, such as acquisition, serial control, cataloguing, circulation, budget etc. Today the term “library automation” is however used extensively to refer primarily to the use of computers to perform the library activities in recent times , even the related topics such as information retrieval, semi automatic/automatic indexing network of automated systems.“Library Automation” is generally defined as the replacement of manual operations in libraries by computerized methods. Libraries have always been first to adopt and assimilate the technological innovations. This shows that the field is most amenable to technology adoption. Technology and standardization are the two areas in which have always ahead and they have and have been using for their efficient management.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Introduction
College library holds a distinctive position as its services, organization and administration
and also significantly contributes to the realization of the objective of college education.
The nature and efficiency of the information services provided by the college libraries vary
from one to another, owing to a whole range of interests of the user community. However,
with the emergence of the computer and revolutionary changes in information and
communication technology (ICT), it has become possible for a college library to provide a
variety of technology based information services on the basis of user’s requirements and
satisfaction with a wide range of interests, which was not possible earlier.
Today, students require strong technology skills to succeed in every sphere of their
endeavor. An automated library is one where a computer system is used to manage one or
several of the library’s key functions such as Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloguing, Serials
control and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Today we can see that most of
our libraries either fully computerized or partially computerized.
3. Objectives of the Study
The main objectives of the study were to explore the application and availability of
ICT infrastructure in the colleges of Karimganj District. The study is conducted with
the following objectives-
To find out the current status of ICT infrastructure in College libraries in
Karimganj.
To know the various areas of application of ICT in College Libraries.
To compare the status of ICT infrastructure in College Libraries in Karimganj.
To know the opinion of the librarians about the barriers in application of ICT in
libraries and their attitudes towards adopting the technology.
To study the impact of ICT & other associate problems.
To examine the perception of college librarians towards library automation/
computerization.
4. Scope and De-limitations of the Study
The status of ICT infrastructure and other associate problems of college
libraries of Karimganj District has been taken into consideration for this study.
The study does not cover the quality of services provided by the libraries and
hence a user satisfaction survey was not undertaken.
The field that we have undertaken to study is a vast one in its scope and
coverage and it is quite difficult for an individual to cover everything of all the
aspects.
Like other investigators, we also have certain constraints or limitations like
time-limit, financial resources, and sufficient authority to collect the required
information. It may be mentioned that the inferences drawn are based primarily
on the perceptions of the respondents and we have made the interpretations after
analyzing all the collected data.
5. Methodology
Keeping in view the objectives of the study, an effort is made to evolve a
suitable methodology for the research. The study has been designed,
developed and carried out to determine and analyze the current status and use
of ICT Infrastructure in College Libraries of Karimganj District,
South Assam.
The present study is a survey type of research using a structured
questionnaire to collect data from all the college libraries. A well designed
questionnaire is used as principal tool for the collection of data. Apart from
questionnaire, interview and observation methods adopted for data
collection. 10 questionnaires were distributed among the 10 librarians/ library
i/c working in college libraries and all the respondents have responded.
Therefore 100% response achieved.
6. What is Information Communication Technology?
ICT is a powerful tool for extending educational opportunities both formal
and non-formal to all sections of the society particularly to the un-served
sections of population. Customarily, ICT refers to information,
communication and technology.
ICTs include hardware, processes and systems that are used for storing and
managing communications and sharing of information. These tools can be
either manual or computerized.
ICT is defined by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as,
“ICTs are basically information handling tools, they include the ‘old’ ICTs of
radio, television and telephone, and the ‘new’ ICTs of computers, satellite
and wireless technology and the Internet.

14. Suggestions and Recommendations
Based on the findings and views of the library professionals the following suggestions are put forward to improve
the ICT based facilities of college libraries and to enable the library professionals to utilize the ICT facilities more
effectively, by improving their knowledge and skills in ICT applications and services in the library.
Suggestions to College Libraries
College libraries in Karimganj District have to utilize effectively, the available resources to improve the ICT
infrastructure.
The college librarians must take a leadership role to have long-term planning and well-defined strategy for ICT
application. Libraries that have not introduced ICT till date should make plan to start the process at the earliest.
In terms of choosing the library management software, college library should purchase integrated library
software package, which has already been in use successfully in other libraries in the country.
College libraries, besides cataloguing should start computerizing all other operations of different sections of the
library.
The college libraries should switch over from the traditional system to the modern system to cope up with the
ever changing world of Science and technology.
Setting up of LAN inside the library is suggested in colleges wherever possible in order to facilitate easy access
to library OPAC and to gain maximum benefits from computerized services.
15. Suggestions and Recommendations :-
Suggestions to College Authority
The college authority should try to know the importance of ICT in today’s IT based Society.
So they should initiate and plan the library for automation. For this they can seek funds from
UGC. Success depends on the decision taken by the authority of the college.
The college authority should encourage the librarians through deputing them to attend
training programs, seminars, conferences so that they may be acquainted with latest
technologies.
Librarians’ qualification is a most important pre-requisite for the development of the library.
