1) 8% of Minnesota's 13,137 bridges, or 1,086 bridges, are structurally deficient, meaning key elements like the deck or superstructure are in poor condition. 3% of bridges, or 427 bridges, are functionally obsolete. 2) Between 2003-2012, $1.6 billion in federal funding supported construction of 961 bridges in Minnesota. Since 2004, 1,334 new bridges have been built and 36 bridges underwent major reconstruction. 3) It is estimated that it would cost $1.2 billion to repair 2,607 bridges in the state that need fixes.
