This document outlines a proposed training plan for Starbucks Shift Leads. The training aims to help Shift Leads enhance the "third place environment" by improving their communication skills, raising partner morale during stressful times, resolving tensions, and problem solving complex situations.
The training needs analysis identified issues at a Starbucks location such as low revenue, high turnover, and low employee morale due to frequent changes in Shift Leads and a lack of formal leadership training. A classroom-based training program is proposed to provide Shift Leads with the skills needed to effectively lead their teams. The training goals are for Shift Leads to exemplify leadership skills by supporting partners, increasing positive communication, and emphasizing customer service to maintain the third place environment.
