33. • Build your main Intranet using a Communication site template
• If sites are necessary for sub-level intranets for business units / pillars – build more communication sites and link with Hub Sites.
• In less complex environments, build out extra site pages on your Intranet for business units where you can share information,
surface content etc.
• Use Metadata in the libraries etc. to filter the content by business unit / department, then display that filtered view on the
different pages for departments / business units.
• See my blog on this to help: https://www.metalogix.com/blog/how-build-your-intranet-sharepoint-communication-sites-10-
steps
• Use Microsoft Teams to build out all your other departments / projects etc.
• Remember the 80/20 rule. Do not complicate your sites because of a few documents that has complex permission levels. Keep
permission on site level (not app or item where possible). Use OneDrive to share content which does not fit into the MS Team
‘container’ and Teams permissions. If necessary – build a separate team for example Management which spans across departments /
business units.
