The Sphinx is a monument located in Egypt with the head of a man and the body of a lion. It was built around 2558-2532 BCE by ancient Egyptians to guard the Great Pyramid of Giza. Made of limestone, the Sphinx has the body of a recumbent lion and the head of the pharaoh Khafre. Though its nose has broken off, it still lays at the Giza plateau near several other ancient structures from ancient Egypt.
