The document discusses potential photos of an actress that could be used in a movie poster. It analyzes several photos showing the actress with different facial expressions and poses that convey different meanings and emotions. Some photos show her looking directly at the camera with a threatening look to represent her character as the murderer. Other photos show her looking vulnerable or confused to represent her character's mental health struggles and not knowing what is happening to her. The document discusses how various photos could be edited and combined to tell the story and leave the audience guessing about the character's identity for the horror film poster.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. How can I use this photo in my poster? Our actress is
facing the side whilst he head is tilted to look at the
camera. This way she looks like she is giving the
target audience a warning of perhaps another
murder, that she is the murderer. As her body is
about to turn away it can connote that she is off to
kill another person / another bully. She is slightly
slouched and bending her head down which
connotes that she is in a relaxed yet threatening
mood. She is looking directly at the camera to
release a look of threat which is perfect for a horror
film.
Her hair is bouncy and is the main thing that
differentiates her from a male in this picture. If her
hair wasn’t there, then people might presume that
the killer is a male. This breaks the stereotypes and
theories that that women aren’t dangerous and can’t
commit crime (Heidensohn).
If we were to use this picture in our poster, the
background would be of trees / in the woods to
connote and foreshadow where the murders take
back.
3. Both the images have the protagonist looking into
the camera, which is reflected as looking directly at
the target audience. She has just pulled the hood of
her jumper up as if she is trying to hide her identity
in the streets. The killer’s identity in the film isn’t
known but if we used this image in the poster then
it would give our target audience that the killer was
right before their eyes, just like she was in the
movie. If we used this image, we could Photoshop
in shadows coming from the top left corner to
connote that evil is trying to take her over.
In the picture on the right, you can see the lighting
shining in her eyes which can connote that maybe
the killer has been caught as flashlights are
associated with police looking for people in the
dark. This would create an enigma code among the
audience. Her hands also look more soft and
feminine in this picture, which could create a
scenario in the audiences mind that she will be let
off lightly by the police as she is a female (the
liberation thesis).
4. We tried to recreate the creepy look from the ‘Split’ trailer
but with a different angle, as we used a close up shot oh
Bushrah’s face instead. If we used these two photos in our
final product, we would have them side by side to show the
two different identities and personalities as she suffers
from depression and pseudo identity. These will be
reflected in the emotions of the character in the picture.
The three different photos
show two different
emotions. One is a creepy
smile and one looks
senseless, like she is
affected by everything
around her but has no
emotion.
5. I could use all three of the photos to create a delusional image to
portray that my character suffers from mental health issues. For
example, the blurred photo on the right side could represent her
blurred memory of killing her bullies, and these three photos
combined would show that she is being attacked /has a pseudo
identity that she can’t control.
However I can’t use these photos together because they are both
different colours (of the face, hair, green screen and hoodie) unless we
edited them both on Photoshop.
I made a potential draft poster (without all the details) to reflect my
ideas. The chalked writing as the background is to represent her being
bullied whilst she's in school and the overlays of the faces that look
like she is being attacked in her mind shows the audience that she is
not normal.
6. How can we use this photo? Bushrah looks scared,
terrified and looks like she on about to cry. This
makes it seem like something is forcing her to do
things, giving the effect of being possessed. In
reality, our target audience would find that it is her
other identity. If we were to use this photo in our
final product, I would make her eyes a bit more
bigger so that she seems vulnerable and innocent
so that the target audience finds out that she is
both the protagonist and antagonist.
Her hood in this picture is slightly more pulled down
on towards the left. This connotes that she is not
perfect, as the hood is not lined perfectly, and that
she has more to hide. As the left side of the picture
is portrayed to be more darker, we have followed a
convention of a horror movie poster. The right side
of the hood is more lifted which connotes that her
dark side will soon be revealed. If this picture was
used for the poster, the title of the movie would be
on the top left hand side of the picture.
7. In this photo, our antagonist looks scared and
like something in her head is trying to control
her and she is struggling to get it out.The fact
that her eyes are teary and her mouth is open,
screaming for help connotes vulnerability.This
contradicts with the costumes she is wearing
(binary oppositions) as black connotes
darkness and evil, which is what her other
identity is.
If we used this photo in our final poster then
would add a effect of yellow, red and green
outlines around her to show that she sees
things differently to the rest of us, an that she
is not ok.The title would be placed on the top
left hand corner of the poster.
The shadow behind her (as shown in the
photo) could represent her other identity
which doesn’t reveal itself until the end.
8. In the photos, our antagonist looks scared and like
something in her head is trying to control her and
she is struggling to get it out.The fact that her eyes
are teary and her mouth is open, screaming for help
connotes vulnerability.This contradicts with the
costumes she is wearing (binary oppositions) as
black connotes darkness and evil, which is what her
other identity is.
If we used this photo any of there our final poster
then would add a effect of yellow, red and green
outlines around her to show that she sees things
differently to the rest of us, an that she is not ok.The
title would be placed on the top in the middle.
9. These three photos would be good
to use in our poster because it looks
like her other identity is trying to
hurt her inside her head and she
can’t get rid of it/ she is trying to
fight her own battles with herself.
She is slightly out of the centre of
the frame, breaking the rule of
thirds.
If we used any of these photos for
our poster, it would be the one on
the bottom because the other two
are slightly blurry and because we
can see more of the emotion of her
face in the bottom one.
The title would be placed on the
left top corner and the 5 star
ratings opposite it.
10. In this photo, our character looks lost and
confused as she would be, because she
doesn’t know what's going on in and
around her. This photo would be good to
use in our final poster because is shouts
confusion, which are target audience will be
throughout the narrative – confused about
who has been killing the bullies.
She is in the centre of the camera and we
used a mid shot to show the length of her
hair as she is characterised as a girl. This
would allow the audience to have doubts
about if she was the murderer because
she’s a girl and they might follow the
stereotype that girls cant commit crime.
The title and tagline would be placed at the
bottom of the picture with comments
about the film on the different sides.
11. Why these two photos would be good for our final poster:The two pictures are like how we planned.
It seems as if there are two identities in the poster but they are the same person with different
emotions. If we were to use both of these (having them back to back) then it would give away who
the killer is, or maybe the target audience will interpret it to be confusion. The picture on the left
shows the emotions of confusion with a bit of sadness, whereas the picture on the right connotes
strength as she is standing straight and tall, and shows the emotions of being tough and fearless. The
pictures combined as a whole would show a variety of binary opposites other than the ones I have
mentioned. As the one on the left is hiding away, it’s in the dark which connotes that she is blind of
what is happening to her.The picture on the right is coming into the light, connoting that the
antagonist’s other identity will be revealed, as the light connotes goodness.
12. Instead of having one of the pictures
from, the previous slide, we could
swap it with one of these photos
where the character looks sad and
scared.This denotes vulnerability, like
she is scared other other identity.
It would be effective in showing which
identity is ‘the boss’ and would grab
the audience’s attention.
13. The final four picks:
Because they
represent our
narrative the most.
