This poster consists of four cartoon-like images connected by a knife representing death in the house. The colors used are red, white, and black to represent blood, danger, and evil. The tagline is placed in seven lines to the right of the knife instead of in one line at the bottom like other posters. At the bottom are the film title in a jagged format and crew member names.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Halloween
1. HALLOWEEN
Case
Study
This design is different to the other two
thriller/horror poster designs which I chose as
my case studies. It is a different approach for a
film poster to follow for a film which involves
humans rather than cartoons.
2. PICTURES
This poster consists of four images. All the images used are represented cartoon like. All the images
are located in the centre of the image attached/ connected to each other in one way or another. The
knife acts as it is representing death due to the position of it being placed through the house and a
tiny bit of blood falling away from it, as if the action has been just committed or recently committed.
As the knife is in the house, it represents the deaths taking action within the house or around the
houses premises. The woman standing in the porch of the house is given the effect of a normal
everyday person as, they have not gone into extra extents to change the way the woman looks, or
change the position of her actions to look mysterious. The picture in the knife shows the reflection of
the killer. It shows no emotion and a carefree person. The uses of their images is effective in a way for
the film as the cartoon effect relates to the killer in the movie. As he wears a mask throughout the
film hiding his face. Which gives a fictional feel to the film, as if its a cartoon as this is what the face
of the man looks like.
3. COLOURS
The colour scheme for this poster consists of three colours red, white and black. They
use the red for the background. The use of red represents blood, danger and death due
to the location of the red containing after the knife. Also by using the red alongside the
colour black gives of the use of evil. They use white for the text as it has good
contrast with the red background. The white is also used in within the knife. As it
allows the audience to see the killers face (mask).
4. TEXT
In this poster they have decided to place the tagline to the right of the knife instead of the top or the bottom
like in the other posters. Also they have decided to instead of write the tagline in one straight line, to use 7
lines with each line consisting two to three words. This is a different approach to a tagline from what I have
seen in magazine posters , but i find it eye-catching as the page is so plain that instead of blending with the
other text at the bottom of the poster. It is instead away from it and the third eye-catching item on the
page. After the image and title as they take up more space.
In the top left hand corner, they have placed the industry which funded/ created the film. The text is not
that large but can be noticed if a person was to analyse the film poster. In a way for this film poster it is a
good place to locate this text as it uses up more of the negative space on the page. It is also is more
noticeable than where other film posters place it. As they place it very small underneath the crew member
names.
The majority of the text has been placed at the bottom of the page. It consists of the film title name; crew
member names and Directors name. The movie title is jigged in that not all the letters are in line with each
other, this gives an effect of an up and down situation within the house. Where down parts represents
calmness and the up parts represents the bad, evil actions taking part. The title also has a scratched,
battered effect on to of it. Showing the harsh graphic effects within the film. Above the title is the film
directors name which has been inline with the title as it starts from the top of the 'H' and stops at the top of
the 'L', this shows consistency and thought with how and where the text should be placed.
5. WHAT I WILL TAKE FROM THIS
• •To not use cartoon effect in my groups poster as our film is unknown, people would
believe that our film consists of cartoon characters instead of human characters.
Also we have noting in our film which would relate to the cartoon effect e.g. a mask.
• •To include cast member names as they took part in helping us to create the film.
• •To stick to minimal amount of images (no more than five), as to many can interrupt
what the audience is looking at as it is hard to focus on the eye catching aspect on
the image.
• •I could take into addition of adding texture onto of the film titles names giving it a
ruff/ harsh effect.
