Sound plays an important role in TV and film, conveying information through vibration, tone, volume, pitch, and other attributes. There are different types of sound used, including diegetic sounds that originate from within the story and non-diegetic sounds from outside it, such as background music. Sound effects, dialogue, ambient noise, voiceovers, and songs are all examples of sounds that can be either diegetic or non-diegetic. Sound is created by vibrations traveling through air particles in waves until they dissipate, with higher pitches resulting from faster vibrations and lower pitches from slower ones.
