II. Agreements
 Listen Attentively
 Don’t talk with seatmates unless necessary
 Raise your hand if you want to say something.
III. Review

sweating and nausea, yet still people can’t survive without it?
 Love
 Why did the man propose to his Korean crush?
 Because she was his Seoul mate!
 Where does Valentine’s Day come after Easter?
 Dictionary
 Who has married hundreds but always been single?
 Priest
After the activity the teacher will ask the students to guess the topic for the
meeting.
The activity has something to do with the lesson since the lesson is something
is something that is in line with the theme of love.
 Discussion
Firstly, let the students define love. Then, give a brief introduction of the
author; define first what a sonnet is.
William Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English
language and is credited by the Oxford English Dictionary with the introduction of
nearly 3,000 words to the English language.
Sonnet – From the Italian sonetto, which means “a little sound or song,” the
sonnet is a fourteen-line poem written in iambic pentameter.
SONNET 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which offers when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempest and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand’ring bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken
Love’s not time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon the proved,
I never wit, nor no man ever loved.
(Thought unit analysis)
This sonnet attempts to define love, by telling both what it is and is not. In the first
quatrain, the speaker says that love—”the marriage of true minds”—is perfect and unchanging;
it does not “admit impediments,” and it does not change when it find changes in the loved one.
In the second quatrain, the speaker tells what love is through a metaphor: a guiding star to lost
ships (“wand’ring barks”) that is not susceptible to storms (it “looks on tempests and is never
shaken”). In the third quatrain, the speaker again describes what love is not: it is not susceptible
to time. Though beauty fades in time as rosy lips and cheeks come within “his bending sickle’s
compass,” love does not change with hours and weeks: instead, it “bears it out ev’n to the edge of
doom.” In the couplet, the speaker attests to his certainty that love is as he says: if his statements
can be proved to be error, he declares, he must never have written a word, and no man can ever
have been in love.
 Generalization
o What do you think is the theme of the sonnet?
o What does the sonnet wants to convey?
Application/Performance Tasks
The students will be group accordingly. They will be tasked to state the advantages
and disadvantages of puppy love through staging a role play considering Shakespeare’s
definition of love. The students will be given fifteen minutes preparation. Each group will be
given a maximum of five minutes to stage their performance. The performance will be
judged through the following criteria:
