The document describes a preconditioned nine-point group successive over-relaxation (SOR) iterative method for solving Poisson's equation. Poisson's equation is discretized using a finite difference scheme, resulting in a large sparse system of linear equations. The nine-point group SOR method is formulated for solving this system. A new type of preconditioner is then applied to the nine-point group SOR method to improve its rate of convergence. Numerical results demonstrate that the preconditioned nine-point group SOR method has improved convergence properties compared to the unpreconditioned version.
