SOLVING EQUATIONS
Wednesday: Day 3
Analyze Learner
The 7th class is made up of 24 students. 20 of the students are Caucasians, 3 are African-
Americans, and 1 student is Asian American. There are 10 boys and 14 girls. These students have all
been placed in an advanced placement course.
State Objective
Students will apply methods of solving equations to real world situations by working in groups
to plan a grocery list with links from their web quest. Students will understand how math and equations
are used in realistic settings with 100% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The students will start the class period by watching a video of how solving equations can be
related to realistic situations. The students will use a WebQuest created on Microsoft word in a group
setting in the classroom. The students will complete a second WebQuest at home for an individual
assignment.
Utilize Media and Materials
I will bring my video on a flash drive to class as well as post a link on Twitter. I will have a
copy of the Microsoft Word WebQuest printed for each student as well as extra copies. I will make sure
all the links on the Zunal WbQuest are still in working order and are appropriate for the students. I will
make sure the class has internet access for their assignment.
Require Learner Participation
Every student will participate in the group assignment in class. I will schedule the due date for
the at home WebQuest for the end of the week in order for every student to have opportunity to work
on it. For the students who don’t have internet access, I will make sure to give them time in class if
they do not have time at all during the week.
Evaluate and Revise
The students will be given a grade from the group WebQuest based on participation and
accuracy. The students will be given a second grade at the end of the week for their individual
WebQuest based on the rubric provide.
