You provided an insightful analysis of this particular process evaluation, and it seems that you were able to design a comprehensive presentation guideline. I agree with your tactic to break the presentation up into categories, and the categories you have selected seem to address the major components of the program, the evaluation itself, and the findings of said evaluation. You also provided a great analysis and summary of the PATHS program. The purpose of the program is clear, and the overarching purpose of the evaluation was made clear in your synopsis as well.

You addressed outcome measures very well, however, there may have been some lacking information in regards to overall evaluation methods as a whole. Addressing factors such as who was collecting the data, how they were trained, how their training or standing could limit potential bias, and similar information. This may be an important piece of information that could help to provide audience members with a better understanding of the evaluation processes as a whole.

There are various sources of data that are used in the process of evaluation in that data is easily acquired in most convenient forms such that it can be used in proper evaluation that aids the best result (Long, et al 2015).
Current and Previous Data
An individual who is involved in an evaluation should start by considering data that is already available as well as the data that had been used previously. According to the program it has been out of operation for more than five years, therefore, being inactive. Knowing what program had been used by checking records that have been documented (Boulmetis et al, 2016). For example, looking at reports written previously allows the evaluator to have the whole idea.
Plan Recipient
The most convenient way to source data is when an evaluator relies on the plan or the program that the recipients have in existence. This is because this is a way that can provide a route way to achieve evaluation needs (Greene et al, 2017). Discussion together with the recipients is a better way to access information while surveys that are involved verify the whole process.
Records from observation
Images that have been recorded in various forms are essential data capturing sources (Greene et al, 2017). Some of these sources include pictures, stored clips, and videos which is the preferred data acquiring points that have been in use. This rationale provides well-elaborated information to the evaluator since well-represented data in form of images and videos that a good example of well-processed data that can be used in making the final resolution in management. However, other means of collecting data depend on the source and individuals that are being involved in their disposition and capacity to provide information (Boulmetis et al, 2016). Actual situations are preferred as they can give accountancy of the real experiences in the entire program and the reason behind occurrences.

I chose a victim advocate program that provides crisis intervention for sexual assault victims. “The Victim Advocate provides emotional support to primary victims and secondary victims during the examination at the hospital or during an interview with the police. The process benefits of monitoring the program helps with determining the strengths and weaknesses of the service program that is being implemented. It helps to discover ways to improve program services for the most effective outcomes. Additionally, monitoring the program presents accountability to ensure effectiveness and integrity of the program. “Program monitoring typically uses many different types of data-collection strategies, such as questionnaires given out to clients or staff members, individual and group interviewing of staff and clients, observations of pro-grams and specific interactions between staff members and clients, reviews of existing documents such as client files and personnel documents, and consulting experts (Dudley, 2014) (p.73).”

We take the view that the overarching goal of the program evaluation enterprise is to contribute to the improvement of social conditions by providing scientifically credible information and balanced judgment to legitimate social agents about the effectiveness of interventions intended to produce social benefits. Because of its centrality in this perspective, this review focuses on outcome evaluation, that is, the assessment of the effects of interventions upon the populations they are intended to benefit. The coverage of this topic is concentrated on literature published within the last decade with particular attention to the period subsequent to the related reviews by Cook and Shadish (1994) on social experiments and Sechrest & Figueredo (1993) on program evaluation.
The word ‘evaluation’ has become increasingly used in the language of community, health and social services and programs. The growth of talk and practice of evaluation in these fields has often been promoted and encouraged by funders and commissioners of services and programs. Following the interest of funders, has been a growth in the study and practice of evaluation by community, health and social service practitioners and academics. When we consider why this move in evaluative thinking and practice has occurred, we can assume the position of the funder and simply answer, ‘...because we want to know if this program or service works’. Practitioners, specialists and academics in these fields have been called upon by governments and philanthropists to aid the development of effective evaluation. Over time, they have led their own thinking and practice independently. Evaluation in its simplest form is about understanding the effect and impact of a program, service, or indeed a whole organization. Evaluation as a practice is not so simple however, largely because in order to assess impact, we need to be very clear at the beginning what effect or difference we are trying to achieve.
The literature review begins with an overview of qualitative and quantitative research methods, followed by a description of key forms of evaluation. Health promotion evaluation and advocacy and policy evaluation will then be explored as two specific domains. These domains are not evaluation methodologies, but forms of evaluation that present unique requirements for effective community development evaluation. Training department has been experiencing a decline in the attendance of the nurses to the CPD activities for the last two years. Based on this decline, it is important as a training department to look forward examining some of the factors that might have led to the decline. Therefore, a survey which involves a cross sectional study design was mandatory to investigate these factors. The primary aim of the survey was to collect data using questionnaires on what motivated the nurses to attend the continuing professional development (CPD) activities along with the impact of these activities on the nurses’ performance as they perceived. The department will be trying to find strategies that will enhance CPD participation. However, the finding will be used to improve attendance and planning the next year continuing professional activities annual plan. The research managed to collect qualitative data. The dependent variables are variables that change based on other variables, thus these variables are the questions asked to the respondent such as what motivated them to undertake CPD activities, the strategies they consider to enhance their CPD activities and how these strategies impact their learning including their colleagues and organization and also how they can measure the impact of the CPD they attended on their growth and development and effectiveness of the strategies identified. The independent variables are variables that do not change based on other variables. In this case, the independent variables are the responses from the participants.

There were four research questions. These are as follows;

· What strategies do they consider in enhancing your CPD activities?
· How these strategies made impact on their as a learner, to their colleagues or the organization in which they work?

Social Work Research: Planning a Program Evaluation
Joan is a social worker who is currently enrolled in a social work PhD program. She is planning to conduct her dissertation research project with a large nonprofit child welfare organization where she has worked as a site coordinator for many years. She has already approached the agency director with her interest, and the leadership team of the agency stated that they would like to collaborate on the research project.
The child welfare organization at the center of the planned study has seven regional centers that operate fairly independently. The primary focus of work is on foster care; that is, recruiting and training foster parents and running a regular foster care program with an emphasis on family foster care. The agency has a residential program as well, but it will not participate in the study. Each of the regional centers services about 45–50 foster parents and approximately 100 foster children. On average, five to six new foster families are recruited at each center on a quarterly basis. This number has been consistent over the past 2 years.
Recently it was decided that a new training program for incoming foster parents would be used by the organization. The primary goals of this new training program include reducing foster placement disruptions, improving the quality of services delivered, and increasing child well-being through better trained and skilled foster families. Each of the regional centers will participate and implement the new training program. Three of the sites will start the program immediately, while the other four centers will not start until 12 months from now. The new training program consists of six separate 3-hour training sessions that are typically conducted in a biweekly format. It is a fairly proceduralized training program; that is, a very detailed set of manuals and training materials exists. All trainings will be conducted by the same two instructors. The current training program that it will replace differs considerably in its focus, but it also uses a 6-week, 3-hour format. It will be used by those sites not immediately participating until the new program is implemented.

In the article, The Efficacy of Child Parent Relationship Therapy for Adopted Children with Attachment Disruptions, the researcher wanted to test the child parent relationship therapy (CPRT) which “is an empirically based, manualized counseling intervention for children presenting with a range of social, emotional, and behavioral issues” (Cranes-Holt, & Bratton, 2014). The purpose was to test this theory on adoptive families. Thus, a control group was designed to test CPRT. The researcher used the Child Behavior Checklist-Parent Version (CBCL) and the Measurement of Empathy in Adult-Child Interaction (MEACI). These are both empirical test, the CBCL measures the parents of the child’s behavior problems; whereas, the MEACI is an operational measure that defines empathy between the parents and the child while playing. Iris is also going through depression because of being divorced by her husband abruptly in the last two years and also because she misses her independence because she now needs to stay in a facility that can provide care for her as it gets harder for her to take care of herself. This paper will look into a policy that can help Iris control and take care of herself.
Solution
One of the ways of helping Iris is to provide a way in which she can have company. A policy that will provide or extend the civic engagement of adults will go a long way into helping Iris to extend her stay at the facility she was sent to. Needs assessments are a form of research conducted to gather information about the needs of a population or a group in a community (Tutty & Rothery, 2010, p. 149). Post an interpretation of the case study’s conclusion that “the vocational rehabilitation intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment.”
The design described in this particular case study seeks to assess the effectiveness of a new vocational rehabilitation program for recently paroled prison inmates (Plummer, Makris and Brocksen, 201, p. 63). In order to evaluate this program, the evaluators implemented a quasi-experimental research design. In this design, participants are not randomly assigned to conditions or orders of conditions (Price et al., 2016). Ultimately, quasi-experimental research involves the manipulation of an independent variable without the random assignments of participants to conditions or orders of conditions (Price et al., 2016). It seems that this design is specifically more of a “nonequivalent” design. As they have two subject groups essentially, those 30 who are able to immediately participate in the program (“intervention” group) and the other 30 who are on the wait list (“comparison” group).
Based on the data presented, it seems that there may be some statistically significant relation between the independent variable (vocational rehabilitation intervention) and the dependent variable (employment). It’s important to note the use of “may” in “the vocational rehabilitation intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment…”. Post an evaluation of the evidence-based practice that you selected for Jake. Describe the practice and evidence supporting it.
The evidence-based practice that I chose for Jake was Yoga Practice. The study was done on one participant, and it focused on the effects of yoga practice on brain function as well as PTSD symptoms. The practice of yoga was done over an eight week period and documented the improvements of the individual along the way (Yoga, 2015). The evidence that supports this practice is the participant had improved in several categories such as, anxiety levels, PTSD symptoms, abilities to focus, as well as multitasking skills (Yoga, 2015). It also made the individual participating in the study feel less angry and frustrated than he did at the beginning of his recovery process. He also attributed his success to the Yoga Practice and is now more comfortable practicing yoga (Yoga, 2015).
Explain why you think this intervention is appropriate for Jake.
I believe Yoga practice will offer positive effects for Jake for a number of reasons.

Many people receive their first introduction to the scientific method in their early school years. As soon as a researcher introduces a human element, proving a cause and effect relationship becomes more difficult—as the researcher cannot enact total control of another person even in an experimental environment. Social workers serve clients in highly complex real-world environments. Clients often implement recommended interventions outside of social workers’ direct observation. Yet, evidence-based research calls for social workers to establish cause-and-effect relations between selected interventions and client outcomes as much possible. To meet this challenge, social workers must understand the study designs available to them and all of the variations of that design that can increase the rigor of the experiment and improve the likelihood of verifying a cause-and-effect relationship.

As a group, LGBT older adults experience unique economic and health disparities. LGBT older adults may disproportionately be affected by poverty and physical and mental health conditions due to a lifetime of unique stressors associated with being a minority and may be more vulnerable to neglect and mistreatment in aging care facilities (American, 2019). In the case of Francine (Plummer, 2014) she is a 70-year-old Catholic woman, who personally identifies as a lesbian. She never felt comfortable actually “coming out” due to the environment she grew up in. Both in the era, she grew up in and the strict Catholic belief she was raised in is against homosexual nature she felt it wasn’t appropriate to discuss. As she got older and experienced the loss of her partner, she felt those who cared about her felt she should not mourn her loss so hard. It could have been due to her never admitting who her partner really was, or the common mindset of those around her. It could affect how she viewed her life and what she should do as an older adult in her sexual life.
Environmental factors influence the aging process. Being physically and mentally active tends to slow down the aging process. Inactivity speeds it up. A positive outlook (positive thinking) tends to slow down the aging process. Insecurity, the lack of someone to talk to, negative thinking, and being in a strange environment tend to accelerate the aging process (Zastrow, 2016). In Francine’s case, the loss of her loved one and retirement has affected her outlook. She feels sad and isolated, it has taken its toll and that can progress the effects of ages. Once she gained a support system she was able to increase her activity and her mental stability changed.
As a worker, I would use the understanding that environmental factors and personal views can affect a client and manifest as an aging process. I would help Francine by using cognitive reasoning to help her accept her life and make changes that make her happy. While morning her loved one is appropriate, helping herself is as well.
The notion that there is a general intellectual decline in old age is largely incorrect. Most intellectual abilities hold up well with age. While older people show a decline in performance on IQ tests, their actual intellectual competence may not be declining (Zastrow, 2016). A strategy I might use in applying my knowledge of the aging process in social work practice.

For your Final Project, you will examine three case scenarios from the e-book
provided for this course, in which each case scenario represents a different type
of offender (i.e., mentally disordered offender, sex offender, violent offender,
family violence offender, female offender, white-collar criminal, cyber criminal, or
terrorist). You will apply a specific theoretical approach to the criminal behaviors
displayed in each case. You also will analyze the degree to which developmental
risk factors and correlates of criminal behavior influence the criminal behavior
that the offender exhibits. Finally, you will evaluate whether or not the offender in
each case scenario is a criminal.
Note: Although assessment is an integral step in the tasks you complete in this

Paula has just been involuntarily hospitalized and placed on the psychiatric unit, for a minimum of 72 hours, for observation. Paula was deemed a suicidal risk after an assessment was completed by the social worker. The social worker observed that Paula appeared to be rapidly decompensating, potentially placing herself and her pregnancy at risk.
Paula just recently announced to the social worker that she is pregnant. She has been unsure whether she wanted to continue the pregnancy or terminate. The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

For this assignment, I have chosen the Time-Series Design. I chose this design as it is still a quasi-experimental design but also has several pre-test and post-test outcome measures. It involves obtaining several client outcome measures before the introduction of intervention and several additional measures after the intervention has been implemented (Dudley, 2014). One benefit of this design is the data trends can help determine the extent to which the intervention, as opposed to external outside factors is the “causal agent” (Dudley, 2014). Then, generate criteria to be measured using the research design by identifying a specific outcome and a method for measuring that outcome. Specify who will collect the data and how the data will be collected. By using a single system design (SSD) as an evaluation tool to measure whether there is a causal relationship between the practitioner’s intervention and a client’s outcome then adjustments to treatment delivery can be made intermittently prior to termination of services. SSD can be used for either an individual, a family, or a group and uses a graph as a tool to visualize client progress (Dudley, 2014). Having this graph available for the client may be a motivating element in practice. A goal attainment scale as an evaluation tool for the time series design would be helpful in evaluating the extent to which the worker's interventions affect client’s goals or outcomes in the way it was intended (Dudley, 2014). By using a 5-point Likert scale to measure with is a non-complicated way to track client
- 4. progress when using the SSD I have chosen. The researcher in the case study also mentioned using a Likert scale in their study and the use of questionnaires, surveys, and checklists (Plummer, Makris, & Brocksen, 2014b). Data would be collected from designated evaluation team members and would be done via surveys that monitor client satisfaction and effectiveness. The group research design that was selected for this project would be an exploratory design. The reason being is that this type of design is meant for when there is little to no known information about the research subject (Sacred Hearth University, 2020). The case study stated that the social worker had not found any research on the foster care training program to date (Plummer et al., 2014b). Performing this type of research design would also help to gain familiarity with the basic details of the program and develop new research questions that could be used to study this program as time goes one (Sacred Hearth University, 2020). An appropriate data collection method for this case study would be questionnaires and interviews of the participants. The questionnaires will provide a lot of feedback, be anonymous, and are cheap and quick to administer (McNamara, 2006a). Interviews can gather more information about a participant’s experience and gain a deeper understanding from the questionnaire’s answers (McNamara, 2006a). While the interviews may take longer to complete, it would be important to perform them since this program has not been studied before. The amount of information gathered could support causality between the program and any
- 6. change that occurred. Then, generate criteria to be measured using the research design by identifying a specific outcome and a method for measuring that outcome. Specify who will collect the data and how the data will be collected. One specific outcome that will be measured from this study will be that the number of foster placement disruptions will be reduced. This type of outcome would include a numeric count (Dudley, 2014) of how many kids were taken out of the foster parent home for reasons other than finding permanent adoption or reunification with their parents. The method for measuring this information would be collecting this data from the interviews that occurred after the program. These interviews could occur 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after program completion. This information could be collected by the person conducting the research program or the staff who taught the training. This information could also be compared against any previous data that had been collected using the previous training program and any placement disruptions. From this information one can compare if the number of disruptions had been reduced compared to the previous training that was being used. References Dudley, J. R. (2014).
