The main question is do these social media tools belong in the classroom? I teach the “right” way to use these tools while allowing students additional ways to interact with me and their classmates. What are your thoughts and concerns of using these new mediums in the classroom? Is it ethical? Do you feel we are evading students' “personal space”? I'll explain and demonstrate how I use popular social media tools in my classes and open the room to discussion on whether or not we should allow them into our classroom.

Course Tech 2013, Melinda Doty, Facebook in the Classroom - Love it or Hate it?
Facebook. As much as some people would like to ignore it, it is thoroughly ingrained in today’s society. I use this
popular social networking tool to encourage interaction among my students. Whether it is a conversation about
a current event or the latest assignment, I find it a great way to get the class talking! What are your thoughts and
concerns with using this new medium in the classroom? Is it ethical?Are we are invading students’“personal space”?
I’ll demonstrate how I use Facebook Groups to promote more interaction in all my classes (face-to-face and online),
assist with setup of your own Facebook group and open the room to discussion on whether or not we should allow
this popular social networking tool into our classrooms.
Educators' use of social media for informal professional learning
Educators increasingly use social media for informal professional learning. A study examined why educators participate in online professional networks and how their participation differs based on role, experience, and age. Key findings include: Educators are motivated by community, convenience, and improving practice. Younger classroom teachers found traditional PD less helpful than administrators. Participation decreased with age while value of PD increased. Recommendations support validating informal learning, differentiated self-directed PD, and encouraging PLNs to reduce isolation and increase integration.
The Internet And Education
The Internet has become an important educational tool that provides numerous benefits to students and teachers. It allows easy access to vast amounts of information and resources. Students can learn at their own pace and communicate easily with teachers and other students. Teachers can assign and receive work digitally, without time or location constraints. While online education via the Internet offers advantages like cost savings, greater accessibility, and opportunities for special needs students, there are also challenges to using technology in the classroom that need to be addressed.
Role Of Ict In Education
ICT plays an important role in education, especially the internet, which can both empower educational activities and increase students' knowledge. However, its negative impacts must be addressed. Schools and governments should implement strategies to utilize ICT to support teaching and learning while also training teachers to incorporate modern technologies. The goals of ICT implementation in education are to promote lifelong learning, increase access to educational resources, and develop students' technology literacy.
Module four language learning resources
Social media can be effectively used as tools for language teaching and learning. They are highly motivating for learners who enjoy new technologies. Some common social media that can be used include social networks like Facebook, blogs, wikis, and podcasts. The advantages of using social media include freedom of expression, sharing knowledge, developing communication skills, flexibility, and motivating students who enjoy the internet. However, maintaining social media sites can be difficult and require constant updates. Not all classrooms may have reliable internet access.
Integrating moo cs into university practice
This document discusses integrating MOOCs into university practice for education and research purposes. It provides examples of MOOCs created at the University of Southampton covering topics such as digital marketing, social media, and learning in a networked age. Students participated in these MOOCs and provided feedback. The MOOCs helped provide blended learning opportunities for students and allowed researchers to gather large datasets to inform their work. The document argues that MOOCs should be designed from the start to address pedagogical and research goals to maximize their benefits for learners, educators, and researchers.

The technology is changing fast. The role of tecaher needs to be examined in this context, especially in view of disruptive technologies.
Moodle presentation
Moodle is a learning management system that can be used to create online courses and resources for students, staff, and parents. It allows sharing of ideas between teachers, provides students access to class materials remotely, and enables parents to access classroom information and resources. The document addresses concerns about using Moodle by explaining how it can save time otherwise spent on staff development, that training will be provided to support all technology skill levels, and that many students have internet access at home. Social media in college classrooms
