looking for new ways to interact with the 
world. 
 Social media is just for the young: People 
over 65 are adapting to Facebook quicker 
then any other age group. 
 There is no return in Social Media Marketing: 
500$ million is how much Marriott gets from 
his blog.
 Social media marketing isn't right for this 
business: In any business there are always 
opportunities in social media marketing. In 
the population a least 1 social media site is 
being used daily. 
 Social media marketing is new: Modem 
Marketing is being changed by social media. 
 Social media is time consuming: After the 
initial setup and strategy and if done right 
doesn’t have to be time consuming.
 Social media is fee: There is cost in terms of 
time and resources, as well as the fees of 
using consultants and agencies in building 
and executing the social media society.
Its said that the first social media existed as 
soon as the first postal service was created. 
Internet was developed in the late 1960’s. 
First spam email was sent in 1978. 
USENET was a diverse social media that was 
developed by Duke University in 1999. 
Napster was created in 1999. 
Wikipedia developed in 2001, and still a 
leading source of information.
In 2003 Myspace, Delicious, Second life and 
Facebook was developed. 
Flickr was developed in 2004 for photo 
sharing. 
2005 YouTube was developed to share 
videos.
Increased brand awareness 
1. Companies can build themselves by sharing 
their messages through social media. 
2. Create high quality like viral marketing 
which is very different to accomplish. 
 Build Credibility 
1. Social media has made a way to keep your 
information private, because there are a lot 
of hackers.
Real time communication 
1. Release timely news 
2. Track what the public say about your brand

1. Provides product to 
another business 
2. Some companies will 
block social media 
sites, so it could get 
tricky to reach a 
business. 
3. Some employees are 
allowed to surf the 
internet as a

2. Less complicated and 
less restrictions 
3. They have more 
opportunities to 
engage with

Data Mining: Track and analysis, because 
every user experience is traceable.
Social Media Marketing is becoming so popular 
that a lot of companies are using them. 
Business will become tired of the social media 
marketing and decide that they aren't good for 
them, but with the right tools and knowledge 
they can have no problems.
