ABSTRACT
The number of individuals engaging in social technologies
for both personal and business reasons is staggering. This
phenomenon is growing exponentially and fast becoming an
integrated, cross platform experience which will impact every
individual online. Social technologies used specifically by
organizations for business support, the purposes and the benefits
realized are addressed in this paper. Based on research results and
a review of related literature, two issues are addressed: 1) How
organizations can rethink their social strategy to gain competitive
advantage; and 2) How social technologies education should be
incorporated into the curriculum so students are prepared for life
beyond graduation.

INTRODUCTION
“When it comes to social tech, playtime is over. The changes
that will come because of these technologies will be far-
reaching, fast, and dramatic. Social tech is not just a few Internet
applications or platforms. It is a broad movement that already
includes hundreds of companies, each of which provides a unique
service.” [10] Klososky [10] categorizes social technology to
include social relevance, social media, and social networking.
Because this paper investigates social platforms and purposes
in which these platforms are used for business support, the term
social technology coined by Scott Klososky is adopted.
Social technology users have expanded from those who
were primarily high school and college aged students to every
generation with the greatest increase in new users in the 55-64
year age group experiencing a growth of 79 percent since 2012.
[4] “Social media is not an option — it is a must!” [11] The
numbers are staggering with over one billion plus active users on
Facebook, 500 million plus users on Twitter with an average of
400 million tweets being sent per day, 38 million total users on
LinkedIn and 1 billion unique monthly visitors on YouTube. [9]
Social technology sites are now translating into unparalleled
profits for businesses savvy enough to use social technologies
for customer service, increased awareness/exposure, gaining
new customers, marketing, and networking and professional
relationships. “Social technologies, theories, best practices and
strategy are still evolving, but there is one principle that remains
constant behind every PR, marketing and advertising campaign:

Text Mining in Digital Libraries using OKAPI BM25 ModelEditor IJCATR
The emergence of the internet has made vast amounts of information available and easily accessible online. As a result, most libraries have digitized their content in order to remain relevant to their users and to keep pace with the advancement of the internet. However, these digital libraries have been criticized for using inefficient information retrieval models that do not perform relevance ranking to the retrieved results. This paper proposed the use of OKAPI BM25 model in text mining so as means of improving relevance ranking of digital libraries. Okapi BM25 model was selected because it is a probability-based relevance ranking algorithm. A case study research was conducted and the model design was based on information retrieval processes. The performance of Boolean, vector space, and Okapi BM25 models was compared for data retrieval. Relevant ranked documents were retrieved and displayed at the OPAC framework search page. The results revealed that Okapi BM 25 outperformed Boolean model and Vector Space model. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of Okapi BM25 model to reward terms according to their relative frequencies in a document so as to improve the performance of text mining in digital libraries.

While there is an expectation that green IT should lower costs and the firm’s impact on the environment, there has been far less attention directed at understanding the strategic benefits of sustainable IT services in terms of the creation of customer value, business value and societal value. This paper provides a review of the literature on sustainable IT, key areas of focus, and identifies a core set of principles to guide sustainable IT service design.

Individuals are concerned about the hazardous materials ever present in computers, even if the importance of various attributes differs, and that a more environment -friendly attitude can be obtained through exposure to educational materials. In this paper, we aim to delineate the problem of e-waste in Nigeria and highlight a series of measures and the advantage they herald for our country and propose a series of action steps to develop in these areas further. It is possible for Nigeria to have an immediate economic stimulus and job creation while moving quickly to abide by the requirements of climate change legislation and energy efficiency directives. The costs of implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy measures are minimal as they are not cash expenditures but rather investments paid back by future, continuous energy savings.

The assemblage arrangement according to dimensions and geographical extend has serious influence on attribute of interaction .Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are subclass of mobile Ad-hoc network involving more complex mobility patterns. Because of mobility the topology changes very frequently. This raises a number of technical challenges including the stability of the network .There is a need for assemblage configuration leading to more stable realistic network. The paper provides investigation of various simulation scenarios in which cluster using k-means algorithm are generated and their numbers are varied to find the more stable configuration in real scenario of road.

The optimal sizing and placement of Distributed Generation units (DG) are becoming very attractive to researchers these days. In this paper a two stage approach has been used for allocation and sizing of DGs in distribution system with time varying load model. The strategic placement of DGs can help in reducing energy losses and improving voltage profile. The proposed work discusses time varying loads that can be useful for selecting the location and optimizing DG operation. The method has the potential to be used for integrating the available DGs by identifying the best locations in a power system. The proposed method has been demonstrated on 9-bus test system.

Early detection of diabetes mellitus (DM) can prevent or inhibit complication. There are several laboratory test that must be done to detect DM. The result of this laboratory test then converted into data training. Data training used in this study generated from UCI Pima Database with 6 attributes that were used to classify positive or negative diabetes. There are various classification methods that are commonly used, and in this study three of them were compared, which were fuzzy KNN, C4.5 algorithm and Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) with one identical case. The objective of this study was to create software to classify DM using tested methods and compared the three methods based on accuracy, precision, and recall. The results showed that the best method was Fuzzy KNN with average and maximum accuracy reached 96% and 98%, respectively. In second place, NBC method had respective average and maximum accuracy of 87.5% and 90%. Lastly, C4.5 algorithm had average and maximum accuracy of 79.5% and 86%, respectively.

Study in the Competitive field of Intelligent, and studies in the field of Web Scraping, have a symbiotic relationship mutualism. In the information age today, the website serves as a main source. The research focus is on how to get data from websites and how to slow down the intensity of the download. The problem that arises is the website sources are autonomous so that vulnerable changes the structure of the content at any time. The next problem is the system intrusion detection snort installed on the server to detect bot crawler. So the researchers propose the use of the methods of Mining Data Records and the method of Exponential Smoothing so that adaptive to changes in the structure of the content and do a browse or fetch automatically follow the pattern of the occurrences of the news. The results of the tests, with the threshold 0.3 for MDR and similarity threshold score 0.65 for STM, using recall and precision values produce f-measure average 92.6%. Evaluating Semantic Similarity between Biomedical Concepts/Classes through S...Editor IJCATR
Most of the existing semantic similarity measures that use ontology structure as their primary source can measure semantic similarity between concepts/classes using single ontology. The ontology-based semantic similarity techniques such as structure-based semantic similarity techniques (Path Length Measure, Wu and Palmer’s Measure, and Leacock and Chodorow’s measure), information content-based similarity techniques (Resnik’s measure, Lin’s measure), and biomedical domain ontology techniques (Al-Mubaid and Nguyen’s measure (SimDist)) were evaluated relative to human experts’ ratings, and compared on sets of concepts using the ICD-10 “V1.0” terminology within the UMLS. The experimental results validate the efficiency of the SemDist technique in single ontology, and demonstrate that SemDist semantic similarity techniques, compared with the existing techniques, gives the best overall results of correlation with experts’ ratings.

The similarity between biomedical classes/concepts is an important task for the biomedical information extraction and knowledge discovery. However, most of the semantic similarity techniques can be adopted to be used in the biomedical domain (UMLS). Many experiments have been conducted to check the applicability of these measures. In this paper, we investigate to measure semantic similarity between two terms within single ontology or multiple ontologies in ICD-10 “V1.0” as primary source, and compare my results to human experts score by correlation coefficient.
A Strategy for Improving the Performance of Small Files in Openstack Swift Editor IJCATR
This is an effective way to improve the storage access performance of small files in Openstack Swift by adding an aggregate storage module. Because Swift will lead to too much disk operation when querying metadata, the transfer performance of plenty of small files is low. In this paper, we propose an aggregated storage strategy (ASS), and implement it in Swift. ASS comprises two parts which include merge storage and index storage. At the first stage, ASS arranges the write request queue in chronological order, and then stores objects in volumes. These volumes are large files that are stored in Swift actually. During the short encounter time, the object-to-volume mapping information is stored in Key-Value store at the second stage. The experimental results show that the ASS can effectively improve Swift's small file transfer performance.

Efficient management and control of government's cash resources rely on government banking arrangements. Nigeria, like many low income countries, employed fragmented systems in handling government receipts and payments. Later in 2016, Nigeria implemented a unified structure as recommended by the IMF, where all government funds are collected in one account would reduce borrowing costs, extend credit and improve government's fiscal policy among other benefits to government. This situation motivated us to embark on this research to design and implement an integrated system for vehicle clearance and registration. This system complies with the new Treasury Single Account policy to enable proper interaction and collaboration among five different level agencies (NCS, FRSC, SBIR, VIO and NPF) saddled with vehicular administration and activities in Nigeria. Since the system is web based, Object Oriented Hypermedia Design Methodology (OOHDM) is used. Tools such as Php, JavaScript, css, html, AJAX and other web development technologies were used. The result is a web based system that gives proper information about a vehicle starting from the exact date of importation to registration and renewal of licensing. Vehicle owner information, custom duty information, plate number registration details, etc. will also be efficiently retrieved from the system by any of the agencies without contacting the other agency at any point in time. Also number plate will no longer be the only means of vehicle identification as it is presently the case in Nigeria, because the unified system will automatically generate and assigned a Unique Vehicle Identification Pin Number (UVIPN) on payment of duty in the system to the vehicle and the UVIPN will be linked to the various agencies in the management information system.

Energy-Aware Routing in Wireless Sensor Network Using Modified Bi-Directional A*Editor IJCATR
Energy is a key component in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)[1]. The system will not be able to run according to its function without the availability of adequate power units. One of the characteristics of wireless sensor network is Limitation energy[2]. A lot of research has been done to develop strategies to overcome this problem. One of them is clustering technique. The popular clustering technique is Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH)[3]. In LEACH, clustering techniques are used to determine Cluster Head (CH), which will then be assigned to forward packets to Base Station (BS). In this research, we propose other clustering techniques, which utilize the Social Network Analysis approach theory of Betweeness Centrality (BC) which will then be implemented in the Setup phase. While in the Steady-State phase, one of the heuristic searching algorithms, Modified Bi-Directional A* (MBDA *) is implemented. The experiment was performed deploy 100 nodes statically in the 100x100 area, with one Base Station at coordinates (50,50). To find out the reliability of the system, the experiment to do in 5000 rounds. The performance of the designed routing protocol strategy will be tested based on network lifetime, throughput, and residual energy. The results show that BC-MBDA * is better than LEACH. This is influenced by the ways of working LEACH in determining the CH that is dynamic, which is always changing in every data transmission process. This will result in the use of energy, because they always doing any computation to determine CH in every transmission process. In contrast to BC-MBDA *, CH is statically determined, so it can decrease energy usage.

In networks, the rapidly changing traffic patterns of search engines, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Big Data and data centers has thrown up new challenges for legacy; existing networks; and prompted the need for a more intelligent and innovative way to dynamically manage traffic and allocate limited network resources. Software Defined Network (SDN) which decouples the control plane from the data plane through network vitalizations aims to address these challenges. This paper has explored the SDN architecture and its implementation with the OpenFlow protocol. It has also assessed some of its benefits over traditional network architectures, security concerns and how it can be addressed in future research and related works in emerging economies such as Nigeria.

Report handling on "LAPOR!" (Laporan, Aspirasi dan Pengaduan Online Rakyat) system depending on the system administrator who manually reads every incoming report [3]. Read manually can lead to errors in handling complaints [4] if the data flow is huge and grows rapidly, it needs at least three days to prepare a confirmation and it sensitive to inconsistencies [3]. In this study, the authors propose a model that can measure the identities of the Query (Incoming) with Document (Archive). The authors employed Class-Based Indexing term weighting scheme, and Cosine Similarities to analyse document similarities. CoSimTFIDF, CoSimTFICF and CoSimTFIDFICF values used in classification as feature for K-Nearest Neighbour (K-NN) classifier. The optimum result evaluation is pre-processing employ 75% of training data ratio and 25% of test data with CoSimTFIDF feature. It deliver a high accuracy 84%. The k = 5 value obtain high accuracy 84.12%
Hangul Recognition Using Support Vector MachineEditor IJCATR
The recognition of Hangul Image is more difficult compared with that of Latin. It could be recognized from the structural arrangement. Hangul is arranged from two dimensions while Latin is only from the left to the right. The current research creates a system to convert Hangul image into Latin text in order to use it as a learning material on reading Hangul. In general, image recognition system is divided into three steps. The first step is preprocessing, which includes binarization, segmentation through connected component-labeling method, and thinning with Zhang Suen to decrease some pattern information. The second is receiving the feature from every single image, whose identification process is done through chain code method. The third is recognizing the process using Support Vector Machine (SVM) with some kernels. It works through letter image and Hangul word recognition. It consists of 34 letters, each of which has 15 different patterns. The whole patterns are 510, divided into 3 data scenarios. The highest result achieved is 94,7% using SVM kernel polynomial and radial basis function. The level of recognition result is influenced by many trained data. Whilst the recognition process of Hangul word applies to the type 2 Hangul word with 6 different patterns. The difference of these patterns appears from the change of the font type. The chosen fonts for data training are such as Batang, Dotum, Gaeul, Gulim, Malgun Gothic. Arial Unicode MS is used to test the data. In routing mechanism there are three to four types of nodes are used, one is sink node which is deployed on the water surface and can collect the information, courier/super/AUV or dolphin powerful nodes are deployed in the middle of the water for forwarding the packets, ordinary nodes are also forwarder nodes which can be deployed from bottom to surface of the water and source nodes are deployed at the seabed which can extract the valuable information from the bottom of the sea. In underwater environment the battery power of the nodes is limited and that power can be enhanced through better selection of the routing algorithm. This paper focuses the energy-efficient routing algorithms for their routing mechanisms to prolong the battery power of the nodes. This paper also focuses the performance analysis of the energy-efficient algorithms under which we can examine the better performance of the route selection mechanism which can prolong the battery power of the node

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Abstract: Social media is a platform for people to discuss their issues and opinions. Before knowing the aspects of social media
people must have to know what is social media? Social media are computer tools that allows people to share or exchange

1. INTRODUCTION
Now a day’s social media has been the important part of
one’s life from shopping to electronic mails, education and
business tool. Social media plays a vital role in
transforming people’s life style. Social media includes
social networking sites and blogs where people can easily
connect with each other. Since the emergence of these
social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook as key
tools for news, journalists and their organizations have
performed a high-wire act [1]. These sites have become a
day to day routine for the people. Social media has been
mainly defined to refer to “the many relatively inexpensive
and widely accessible electronic tools that facilitate anyone
to publish and access information, collaborate on a
common effort, or build relationship” [2].
1. IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON
VARIOUS FIELDS
1.1 Impact of Social Media on Education
As per the survey of previous research, 90% of college
students use social networks. Technology has shown a rapid
development by introducing small communication devices
and we can use these small communication devices for
accessing social networks any time anywhere, as these
gadgets include pocket computers, laptops, iPads and even
simple mobile phones (which support internet) etc.[5].For the
purpose of education social media has been used as an
innovative way. Students should be taught to use this tool in a
better way, in the educational classes’ media just being used
for messaging or texting rather than they should learn to
figure out how to use these media for good [3]. Social media
has increased the quality and rate of collaboration for
students. With the help of social media students can easily
communicate or share information quickly with each through
various social sites like Facebook, Orkut, and Instagram etc.
[4]. It is also important for students to do some practical work
instead of doing paper work. They can also write blogs for
Teachers as well as for themselves to enhance their
knowledge skills [3]. Social networking sites also conduct
online examination which play an important role to enhance
the students’ knowledge.

In the above table 1 it is clear that, internet usage for the
respondents was for mailing and surfing the net with 33% and
26% respectively. Mainly two traditional reasons for using
Internet i.e. Mailing and Surfing. In India, social networking
sites are growing fast to gain popularity but it haven’t reached
the expectation of global scenario. Just 17% reported social
networking sites as their principle reason for Internet usage.

purchasing online goods, studying and reading e-books [7]

Among the Indian youth 95.7% of the members are connected
with the social media. These figures are increasing day by
day. Whereas only 4.3% of members are not connected with
the social media [7].
1.1.1 Positive Effect of Social Media on Education
Social media gives a way to the students to
effectively reach each other in regards to class
ventures, bunch assignments or for help on
homework assignments [12].
Many of the students who do not take an interest
consistently in class might feel that they can express
their thoughts easily on social media [12].
Teachers may post on social media about class
activities, school events, homework assignments
which will be very useful to them [12].
It is seen that social media marketing has been
emerging in career option. Social media marketing
prepares young workers to become successful
marketers.
The access of social media provides the opportunity
for educators to teach good digital citizenship and
the use of Internet for productivity [13].
1.1.2 Negative effect of Social Media on Education
The first concern about the negative effect comes to
mind is the kind of distraction to the students
present in the class. As teachers were not able to
recognize who is paying attention in the classroom
[12].
One of the biggest breakdown of social media in
education is the privacy issues like posting personal
information on online sites.
In some of the scenario there were many in
appropriate information posted which may lead the
students to the wrong side.
Because of social media students lose their ability to
engage themselves for face to face communication.
Many of the bloggers and writers posts wrong
information on social sites which leads the
education system to failure.
1.2 Impact of Social Media on Business
Social media is the new buzz area in marketing that includes
business, organizations and brands which helps to create
news, make friends, make connections and make followers.
Business use social media to enhance an organization’s
performance in various ways such as to accomplish business
objectives, increasing annual sales of the organization. Social
media provides the benefit as a communication platform that
facilitates two way communication between a company and
their stock holders [6]. Business can be promoted through
various social networking sites. Many of the organization
promotes their business by giving advertisement on the social
media in order to attract maximum users or customers.
Customers can connect and interact with business on a more
personal level by using social media. If an organization has
established a brand, social media may help this organization
to develop the existing brand and give the business a voice.
With the help of social media organization can make their
strategy to promote their organization.

Marketing- Marketing is one of the most important and
common use of social media in business. It works because
today every brand has a target section of online audience.
HR-Is great for identifying and engaging the talent
directly.HR helps company to showcase their employee
benefits and culture of the company to outside world.
Creative- it share enables art, copy and design teams to invent
new ideas which is useful for company to achieve goal.
Operations/strategy- Many of the sites like LinkedIn helps the
business by connecting with the experts who can share some
strategic plans.
Business Development- Professional networking sites can be
used to connect with the clients.

It helps the business for promotional activities.
Social networking sites helps to make new
customers by providing useful facilities.
Helps to enhance market insight and stretch out
beyond your rivals with online networking [14].
It also helps to increase awareness among brands
and reach with little to no budget [14].
1.2.2 Negative Effect of Social Media on Business
In business filed social media is not entirely risk
free because many of the fans and followers are free
to post their opinion on a particular organization,
the negative comment can lead the organization to
failure.
Many of the large organization have fallen victim to
the hackers.
The wrong online brand strategy can doom a
company, and put at a huge viral social
disadvantage[15].
Getting involved with Social Media is very time
consuming. As an organization you should assign a
person to always bolster your pages and profile with
significant substance [15].
Most companies have difficulty measuring the
results of social media advertising.
1.3 Impact of Social Media on Society
As we all are aware of social media that has an enormous
impact on our society[7].Many of the social media sites are
most popular on the web. Some social media sites have
transformed the way where people communicate and socialize
on the web. Social networking sites render the opportunity for
people to reconnect with their old friends, colleagues and
mates. It also helps people to make new friends, share content,
pictures, audios, videos amongst them. Social media also
changes the life style of a society.

According to the survey conducted by the Pew Research
Center, in September 2014, 52% of the online adults use two
or more social media sites. More than half of the online adults
of age 65 and above use 60% of Facebook which represents
31% of all seniors. Half of the internet-using young adult’s
ages 18-29 use 53% Instagram and half of the Instagram users
(49%) use the site daily. The share of internet users with
college education using LinkedIn reached 50%. 42% of online
women now use the platform, compared with 13% of online
men [9].
1.3.1 Positive Effects of Social Media on Society
Social Media helps to meet people they may not
have met outside the social media forums.
It also helps to share ideas beyond the geographical
boundaries.
It provides open opportunity for all writers and
bloggers to connect with their clients.
Another positive effect of social networking sites is
it unite people on a huge platform for the
achievement of specific goals. This brings positive
change in the society.
Social media provides awareness among society like
campaigns, advertisement articles, promotions
which helps the society to be up to date with the
current information.

One of the negative effect of social media is that it
make people addicted. People spend lots of time in
social networking sites which can divert the
concentration and focus from the particular task.
Social media can easily effect the kids, the reason is
sometimes people shares photos, videos on media
that contain violence and negative things which can
affect the behavior of kids or teenagers.
It also abuses the society by invading on people’s
privacy.
Social lies like family ones also weaken as people
spend more time connecting to new people.
Some people uses their images or videos in social
sites that can encourage others to use it false fully.
1.4 Impact of Social Media on Youngsters
Nowadays social media has become a new set of cool tools
for involving young peoples. Many young people’s day to day
life are woven by the social media Youngsters are in
conversation and communication with their friends and
groups by using different media and devices every day [16].
In past years it was seen that youngsters are in touch with only
friends and their groups in schools and colleges. But
nowadays youngsters are in contact not only with known
friends but also with unknown people through social
networking sites, instant messenging etc. [16]. According to
BBC news research of 2013 they discuss that 67% Facebook
users are very common and well known social media portal
consist of the youth and students, so these praise the fact that
the youth and student have more focus and relation
[11].Throughout the country teenagers frequently use the web,
mobile phones, online games to communicate and gather
information with each other. As per the survey in California
the below table shows that how social media impacts the
behavioral health of California’s adults [17].

for social networking sites for advice and
information.

sharing details on social media.
There are many cases registered in police station
where adults target young children and lure them
into meeting them.
Mostly youngsters waste lots of time on social sites
like chatting which also effects their health.
Some useless blogs influence youth extremely that
they become violent and can take some
inappropriate actions.
2. CONCLUSION
As the technology is growing the social media has become the
routine for each and every person, peoples are seen addicted
with these technology every day. With different fields its
impact is different on people. Social media has increased the
quality and rate of collaboration for students. Business uses
social media to enhance an organization’s performance in
various ways such as to accomplish business objectives,
increasing annual sales of the organization. Youngsters are
seen in contact with these media daily .Social media has
various merits but it also has some demerits which affect
people negatively. False information can lead the education
system to failure, in an organization wrong advertisement will
affect the productivity, social media can abuse the society by
invading on people’s privacy, some useless blogs can
influence youth that can become violent and can take some
inappropriate actions. Use of social media is beneficial but
should be used in a limited way without getting addicted.
