The document discusses how location data from smartphones is transforming social interactions and commerce. It notes that smartphones now know users' locations and can share that over the internet. This allows merging location data with online databases to find out what is nearby. Location is changing everything. Examples discussed include location-based advertising, apps, maps, and social networks. The document envisions a future where augmented reality overlays useful location-based information about people and places on a user's view of the real world.

This is a brief summary of an MBA class that we hold about "Innovation Principles". This class was highly interactive and we worked mostly our intuition, questening a lot and provoking our mental models.
Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship are the seeds to economic activity and entrepreneurs are the sources of jobs in an economy. According to TiE (The IndUS Entrepreneurs, a non - profit organization, which promotes entrepreneurship), each entrepreneur creates approximately 30 jobs. Entrepreneurship helps to make the Indian market export competitive and equally contributes in making the Indian brand more acceptable. People exposed to entrepreneurship frequently express that they have more opportunity to exercise creative freedoms, higher self-esteem, and an overall greater sense of control over their own lives. But the present younger generation is not able to enjoy all these benefits. A survey done by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute, India (EDII) in 2003 shows that young people are afraid to start their own business because they are not confident, not capable, and lack knowledge in starting a business. Many people would have the opportunity to change jobs or become an entrepreneur if they are properly trained. The students in India are not confident merely with the traditional education they receive in the universities. This throws a demand for education programs specifically designed to expand students’ knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship education in India faces cultural and financial constraints along with insufficient government capacity and private participation. Research points to the significant impact that good entrepreneurship education can make more towards entrepreneurial success and promotes entrepreneurial culture. Hence the plethora of entrepreneurship academics and academic programs at UK and US universities. A mainstay of many of the more successful entrepreneurship programs at business schools around the world is the involvement of successful entrepreneurs whose business careers provide an invaluable part of any university student’s entrepreneurship education.
At this backdrop, this paper tries to explain the need for a comprehensive formal system of entrepreneurship education against the present scenario.

Ideas have been the driving force of humanity. From a simple circular wheel carved from rock back in the stone ages to the first airplanes and telephones, innovative ideas have sparked off revolutionary changes in society. Now in this competitive world, ideas have become more important to us than actions. Companies have begun asking designers to generate solutions that meet the needs and desires of the consumer.
As such, there was a need to streamline and increase the efficiency of producing and sharing ideas within teams. This gave birth to several idea generation techniques, which allowed everyone to play a part in the creative process, a role allotted strictly to designers and engineers for the last few years.
Idea generation techniques meant anyone could participate in creating new ideas. It allowed people to share and build up on existing solutions, to foresee future problems, and essentially, to think big in terms of design. It brought different specializations together to create a more diverse think-tank that can tackle problems from several perspectives.
This report is divided into three parts.
First, we shall look into several idea generation techniques, both popular ones and the uncommon ones, question their uses and value by providing examples of products developed using the specific techniques.
Second, we discuss whether idea generation methods and techniques are important in coming up with new ideas? Are they the driving factor in generating ideas?
Lastly, we conclude with our personal view on idea generation techniques, along with stating which methods, if any, would we prefer to use.
Towards the end we aim to achieve a better understand of the creative thinking process as a whole and how to effectively solve all issues, design or otherwise.

Paranoid apptivity don't freak me out by @philipmaloneySyncNorwich
We've come a long way since websites started using cookies to track users. As more people rely on their mobile devices as their primary computing device there has been a rise in apps collecting and utilising personal information. Sometimes this data is used without thought for the user experience, and often crosses the "freaky line". This talk is aimed at both designers and developers of mobile apps requiring personal data, and offers some ideas for improving the user experience and respecting user privacy.

It's a counter-argument for "put away that phone" and "get of social media". While mostly philosophical, it does offer a few examples of specific apps one could use.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

The Metaverse and AI: how can decision-makers harness the Metaverse for their...Jen Stirrup
The Metaverse is popularized in science fiction, and now it is becoming closer to being a part of our daily lives through the use of social media and shopping companies. How can businesses survive in a world where Artificial Intelligence is becoming the present as well as the future of technology, and how does the Metaverse fit into business strategy when futurist ideas are developing into reality at accelerated rates? How do we do this when our data isn't up to scratch? How can we move towards success with our data so we are set up for the Metaverse when it arrives?
How can you help your company evolve, adapt, and succeed using Artificial Intelligence and the Metaverse to stay ahead of the competition? What are the potential issues, complications, and benefits that these technologies could bring to us and our organizations? In this session, Jen Stirrup will explain how to start thinking about these technologies as an organisation.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
