My topic of thesis is about constructing prediction model of wind energy and solar energy by artificial neural network with genetic algorithm.
Because the electricity price in Nordic area is determined in advance, it is beneficial to construct prediction model for renewable energy. With the mentioned prediction model, we can construct hybrid system (wind energy and solar energy) to produce hydrogen. Then the fuel cell can produce electricity and connect to the network by using the constructed prediction model. In our prediction model, the critical parameters like 10 minutes average wind speed and deviation for wind energy could be used as historical data to train to artificial neural network (ANN). We also hope to utilize genetic algorithm (GA) to speed up the ANN training and hybrid system scale design.

Electric Springs A New Smart Grid Technology
The scientific principle of “mechanical springs” was described by the British physicist Robert
Hooke in the 1660’s. Since then, there has not been any further development of the Hooke’s law
in the electric regime. In this paper, this technological gap is filled by the development of
“electric springs.” The scientific principle, the operating modes, the limitations, and the practical
realization of the electric springs are reported. It is discovered that such novel concept has huge
potential in stabilizing future power systems with substantial penetration of intermittent
renewable energy sources. This concept has been successfully demonstrated in a practical power
system setup fed by an ac power source with a fluctuating wind energy source. The electric
spring is found to be effective in regulating the mains voltage despite the fluctuation caused by
the intermittent nature of wind power. Electric appliances with the electric springs embedded can
be turned into a new generation of smart loads, which have their power demand following the
power generation profile. It is envisaged that electric springs, when distributed over the power
grid, will offer a new form of power system stability solution that is independent of information
and communication technology.

Control of a Three-Phase Hybrid Converter for a PV Charging Station
Hybrid boost converter (HBC) has been proposed to replace a dc/dc boost converter and a dc/ac converter to reduce conversion stages and switching loss. In this paper, control of a three-phase HBC in a PV charging station is designed and tested. This HBC interfaces a PV system, a dc system with hybrid plugin electrical vehicles (HPEVs) and a three-phase ac grid. The control of the HBC is designed to realize maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for PV, dc bus voltage regulation, and ac voltage or reactive power regulation. A test bed with power electronics switching details is built in MATLAB/SimPowersystems for validation. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the designed control architecture. Finally, lab experimental testing is conducted to demonstrate HBC’s control performance.

Power Quality Analysis and Enhancement of Grid Connected Solar Energy System
In recent years, renewable energy resources are utilized to meet the growing energy demand. The integration of renewable energy resources with the grid incorporates power electronic converters for conversion of energy. These power electronic converters introduce power quality issues such as a harmonics, voltage regulation etc. Hence, to improve the power quality issues, this work proposes a new control strategy for a grid interconnected solar system. In this proposed work, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) scheme has been used to obtain maximum power from the solar system and DC/DC converter is implemented to maintain a constant DC voltage. An active filtering method is utilized to improve the power quality of the grid connected solar system. The proposed system is validated through dynamic simulation using MATLAB/Simulink Power system toolbox and results are delivered to validate the effectiveness of the work.

Electrical energy auditing
Electrical energy plays a vital role in daily life but resources are limited, so energy audits are important to identify wastage. An energy audit reviews historical energy consumption data and checks how energy is used, identifying areas for reduced wastage. The authors conducted energy audits of homes, industries, and commercial buildings. This paper focuses on an audit of a 2-BHK residential house in Bangalore where the authors created an ETAP simulation, identified unnecessary energy use, and provided recommendations that the homeowner agreed to implement to increase efficiency.

Electrical energy auditing
Electrical energy plays a vital role in daily life but resources are limited, so energy audits are important to identify wastage. An energy audit reviews historical energy consumption data and checks how energy is used, identifying areas for reduced wastage. The authors conducted energy audits of homes, industries, and commercial buildings. This paper focuses on an audit of a 2-BHK residential house in Bangalore where the authors created an ETAP simulation, identified unnecessary energy use, and provided recommendations that the homeowner agreed to implement to increase efficiency.

Optimal electric distribution network configuration using adaptive sunflower ...
Network reconfiguration (NR) is a powerful approach for power loss reduction in the distribution system. This paper presents a method of network reconfiguration using adaptive sunflower optimization (ASFO) to minimize power loss of the distribution system. ASFO is developed based on the original sunflower optimization (SFO) that is inspired from moving of sunflower to the sun. In ASFO, the mechanisms including pollination, survival and mortality mechanisms have been adjusted compared to the original SFO to fit with the network reconfiguration problem. The numerical results on the 14-node and 33-node systems have shown that ASFO outperforms to SFO for finding the optimal network configuration with greater success rate and better obtained solution quality. The comparison results with other previous approaches also indicate that ASFO has better performance than other methods in term of optimal network configuration. Thus, ASFO is a powerful method for the NR.

To obtain efficient output from PV Array Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is employed in it. MPPT is able to extract maximum possible power from PV Array of change in atmospheric condition. Simulation and analysis of hybrid active power filter and PV Array is done under nonlinear load, sudden change in load and unbalanced load conditions. The detailed simulation results have been presented to validate the proposed methodology.

Given climate change concerns and incessantly increasing energy demands of the present time, improving energy efficiency becomes of significant environmental and economic impact. Monitoring household electrical consumption through a non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM) system achieves significant efficiency improvement by providing appliance-level energy consumption and relaying this information back to the user. This paper focuses on feature extraction and clustering, which constitute two of the four modules of the proposed automatic-setup NIALM system, the other two being labeling and classification. The feature extraction module applies the Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques (ESPRIT), a well-known parametric estimation technique, to the drawn electric current. The result is a compact representation of the signal in terms of complex numbers referred to as poles and residues. These complex numbers are then used to determine a feature vector consisting of the contribution of the fundamental, the third and the fifth harmonic currents to the maximum of the total load current. Once a signature is extracted, the clustering module applies distance-based rules inferred off-line from various databases and decides either to create a new class out of the new signature or to discard it and increase the count of an existing signature. As a result, the feature space is clustered without the a priori knowledge of the number of appliances into singleton clusters. Results obtained from a set of appliances indicate that these two modules succeed in creating an unlabeled database of signatures.

This document presents a two-stage approach for optimal capacitor placement in distribution systems to minimize losses using fuzzy logic and bat algorithm. In the first stage, fuzzy logic is used to determine optimal capacitor locations based on power loss index and voltage levels. In the second stage, the bat algorithm is used to determine the optimal capacitor sizes at the identified locations to minimize losses. The methodology is tested on 15-bus and 34-bus test systems and results are presented. Capacitor placement helps improve power factor, voltage profile, reduces power losses and increases feeder capacity of distribution systems.

Modeling and Simulation of power system using SMIB with GA based TCSC controller
This document summarizes a study that uses genetic algorithms to tune a thyristor-controlled series compensator (TCSC) controller to improve the stability of a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system model. The study models the SMIB system and implements a TCSC to damp oscillations. Genetic algorithms are used to optimize the TCSC controller parameters. Simulation results show that the genetically-tuned TCSC controller more effectively damps oscillations compared to the system without a TCSC controller.

This document describes a proposed system to control distributed wind and solar generators using an artificial neuro fuzzy interface system (ANFIS) within an energy control center (ECC) architecture based on a multi-agent system. The system would use ANFIS within the ECC to monitor voltages from the distributed generators and control circuit breakers connecting the generators to loads or energy storage like batteries. This would allow the system to optimize energy distribution based on generator output. The multi-agent system would include software agents running on different computers to manage each distributed generator and exchange information through the ECC. MATLAB/Simulink would be used to simulate the system and test ANFIS control of connecting generators to loads.

The objective is to control generator voltages to reduce reactive power production while meeting system constraints. IEEE 14-bus test system is used with 4 generator buses. Generator voltages are optimized using Group Search Optimization, which finds the minimum reactive power of 5.26 MVAR after 26 iterations. Reactive power and line losses are reduced compared to the base case, showing the effectiveness of the technique in minimizing reactive power generation.

This paper focuses on the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, which is a nonlinear optimization problem. is proposed to find the optimal power flow (OPF). To solve this problem, we will apply the ABC algorithm to a power system incorporating wind power. The proposed approach is applied on a standard IEEE-30 system with wind farms located on different buses and with different penetration levels to show the impact of wind farms on the system in order to obtain the optimal settings of control variables of the OPF problem. This document compares the performance of an artificial neural network trained with genetic algorithm (ANN-GA) data and a fuzzy logic controller for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in a grid-connected photovoltaic system. The ANN-GA method uses a genetic algorithm to optimize training data for an artificial neural network controller. Simulation results in Matlab/Simulink show that the ANN-GA controller produces power with fewer fluctuations around the maximum power point and extra power compared to the fuzzy logic controller under different irradiance and temperature conditions. The ANN-GA method also regulates the PV output power well with the grid-connected inverter.

This document proposes a decomposition/aggregation method to solve large-scale economic dispatch problems with many generators. It decomposes a power system into areas, each containing generators and loads. An evolutionary programming technique optimizes dispatch in each area locally. The area solutions are then aggregated to solve the overall system problem while minimizing total cost. The method is demonstrated on 5-bus and 26-bus test systems decomposed into two areas each. Local area problems are solved as subproblems, while the overall system solution is the "master problem". Results are compared to a centralized approach. The decomposition/aggregation method shows promise in solving economic dispatch with large numbers of generators.

Using data from 41 years in Patna’ India’ the study’s goal is to analyze the trends of how often it rains on a weekly, seasonal, and annual basis (1981−2020). First, utilizing the intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curve and the relationship by statistically analyzing rainfall’ the historical rainfall data set for Patna’ India’ during a 41 year period (1981−2020), was evaluated for its quality. Changes in the hydrologic cycle as a result of increased greenhouse gas emissions are expected to induce variations in the intensity, length, and frequency of precipitation events. One strategy to lessen vulnerability is to quantify probable changes and adapt to them. Techniques such as log-normal, normal, and Gumbel are used (EV-I). Distributions were created with durations of 1, 2, 3, 6, and 24 h and return times of 2, 5, 10, 25, and 100 years. There were also mathematical correlations discovered between rainfall and recurrence interval.
Findings: Based on findings, the Gumbel approach produced the highest intensity values, whereas the other approaches produced values that were close to each other. The data indicates that 461.9 mm of rain fell during the monsoon season’s 301st week. However, it was found that the 29th week had the greatest average rainfall, 92.6 mm. With 952.6 mm on average, the monsoon season saw the highest rainfall. Calculations revealed that the yearly rainfall averaged 1171.1 mm. Using Weibull’s method, the study was subsequently expanded to examine rainfall distribution at different recurrence intervals of 2, 5, 10, and 25 years. Rainfall and recurrence interval mathematical correlations were also developed. Further regression analysis revealed that short wave irrigation, wind direction, wind speed, pressure, relative humidity, and temperature all had a substantial influence on rainfall.
Originality and value: The results of the rainfall IDF curves can provide useful information to policymakers in making appropriate decisions in managing and minimizing floods in the study area.

The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.

The deployments of photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) systems gained stronger momentum due to their numerous advantages over fossil fuel types. The advantages go beyond sustainability to reach financial support and stability. The work in this paper introduces the hybrid system between PV and EV to support industrial and commercial plants. This paper covers the theoretical framework of the proposed hybrid system including the required equation to complete the cost analysis when PV and EV are present. In addition, the proposed design diagram which sets the priorities and requirements of the system is presented. The proposed approach allows setup to advance their power stability, especially during power outages. The presented information supports researchers and plant owners to complete the necessary analysis while promoting the deployment of clean energy. The result of a case study that represents a dairy milk farmer supports the theoretical works and highlights its advanced benefits to existing plants. The short return on investment of the proposed approach supports the paper's novelty approach for the sustainable electrical system. In addition, the proposed system allows for an isolated power setup without the need for a transmission line which enhances the safety of the electrical network

This paper describes a speed control device for generating electrical energy on an electricity network based on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) used for wind power conversion systems. At first, a double-fed induction generator model was constructed. A control law is formulated to govern the flow of energy between the stator of a DFIG and the energy network using three types of controllers: proportional integral (PI), sliding mode controller (SMC) and second order sliding mode controller (SOSMC). Their different results in terms of power reference tracking, reaction to unexpected speed fluctuations, sensitivity to perturbations, and resilience against machine parameter alterations are compared. MATLAB/Simulink was used to conduct the simulations for the preceding study. Multiple simulations have shown very satisfying results, and the investigations demonstrate the efficacy and power-enhancing capabilities of the suggested control system.
