In thin client, the term remote desktop refers to a software or operating
system feature that allows a personal computer's desktop environment to be
run remotely on one system.
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a proprietary protocol developed
by Microsoft, which provides a user with a graphical interface to connect to
another computer over a network connection. The user employs RDP client
software for this purpose, while the other computer must run RDP server

Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is virtualization technology that hosts a
desktop operating system on a centralized server in a data center. VDI is a
variation on the client-server computing model, sometimes referred to as
server-based computing. The term was coined by Vmware.
How Vmware VDI Works ?
With virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), hypervisors work in much the same
