INTRODUCTION
• A smart sensor is a device that takes input
from the physical environment and uses built-
in compute resources to perform predefined
functions upon detection of specific input and
then process data before passing it on.
ACTIVITY 1: EVADING MOTION
DETECTION,
• Trying to evade the infrared sensor, We walked
slowly, Walked Fast, And stopped in front of it.
ACTIVITY 1: EVADING MOTION
DETECTION,
• We have known that the infrared sensors can detect
you whether you're stopped or moved.
ACTIVITY 2: TAKING A TOUR OF SOME
SENSORS,
• To know the way that each sensor works.
• 1- Get some different sensors.
• 2- Check how it is work.
• 3- Use it, And compare between them.
ACTIVITY 2: TAKING A TOUR OF SOME
SENSORS,
• It would be very useful to discover and use
new different sensors, Sensors can be used
differently depending on its input.

ACTIVITY 3: MAKING
MICROPHONE,
•To learn how to use a specific
sensor.
─ 1-Get a Sound Speaker, A Balloon Cup.
─ 2-Using the Balloon Cup to magnify the Sensor.
─ 3-Connect the Sound Speaker to a PVDF Sensor,
Using a Croco” Socket.
─ 4-Hear your mate’s voice talking into the PVDF.
ACTIVITY 3: MAKING
MICROPHONE,
• We have known how to make a Microphone,
And how simple is it, As we can see that the
Rigid PVDF is better than the Flexible PVDF,
However the Flexible PVDF could be useful for
Talking response.

ACTIVITY 4: EXPLORING THE PIEZO EFFECT
:INSIDE STORY,
• To get into the PVDF’s Chemical Structure,
“C2F2H2”
ACTIVITY 5: MEASURING
PIEZOELECTRIC OR PYROELECTRIC
RESPONSE,
• To know the difference between the “Pyro” and
“Piezo”.
• 1-Get a PVDF Sensor, Croco” Socket, VoltMeter.
• 2-Connect the VoltMeter with the PVDF.
• 3-Use it and see how does each one responses with
the moves an punches.
ACTIVITY 5: MEASURING
PIEZOELECTRIC OR PYROELECTRIC
RESPONSE,
• The more pressure we put the more voltage we
get, Also the more heat we affect the more
voltage we get.
• The Piezo is about a pushing force sensor, And
the Pyro is like a Heat or Temperature Sensor,
PVDF can be used for both of them in many
sides.
DESIGN PROJECT: DESIGN A COIN
COUNTER,
•To use a Piezo Sensor, Know How
does Coin Counter Machines
Works.
• 1-Get a “Ruler, Sponge, Stand, Different Coins, Piezo
Sensor connected to the pc”.
• 2-Put the ruler on the sponge.
• 3-Stand the ruler on the stand.
• 4-Put the sensor down the ruler.
• 5-Slide down the coins and see how the sensor responses
on your PC.
DESIGN PROJECT: DESIGN A COIN
COUNTER,
• The more mass you have the more Volt/Potential
you get, And That’s how the Coin Counters Detect
the coin inserted to it.

FINAL PROJECT:
“SMART SPEED BUMPS”
The Smart Speed Bumps, Its something that we really
need in our streets.
If you think about it, it's strange that cars are sold that
vastly exceed speed limits. The highest speed limit
anywhere in Qatar is 120 km/h, yet we can freely
purchase cars capable of doing double that amount.
While governments could mandate that all cars come
with speed governors, none are willing to take such a
draconian step.
Instead of using external methods to prevent people
from Speeding which wastes our resources, we could
use this SmartBump System.
INCREASES OUR ROADS’ SAFETY
AIM OF THE WORK,
• The SmartBump System have to increase our streets
safety, we could prevent many accidents from
happening probably, However The SmartBump
collectively decreases wear and tear.
• Perhaps the most inefficient methods to prevent
speeding is the pursuit-ready policeman who must
sit in an idling cruiser, manning a radar gun, that's a
waste of both manpower and resources, even if
tickets bring in revenue. It would be better if people
were simply motivated to not speed in the first
place.
“SMART SPEED BUMPS”
HYPOTHESIS,
So why is this better than a far-cheaper
speed bump?
• it's because the SmartBump leaves law-abiding
drivers unmolested while only inconveniencing
the speeders.
• This just leading us towards our National
Vision 2030, To increase our technical
developing, and reaches the maximum safety
levels at all.
“SMART SPEED BUMPS”
MATERIALS AND METHODS,
Its kind of simple,
• Materials: “Speed Detector, SmartBump, Control System”
• Methods:
Here’s how it works, For instance, The speed limit is
40 KM/H and a speeder came on 60 KM/H, The Bump Will
automatically open ”Goes Down” as shown in the pics, The
Driver will get a physical reminder to slow down, Then close
back. And if someone was under the speed limit it will stay
closed, And he won’t be molested to go on a speed bump.
“SMART SPEED BUMPS”
RESULTS,
• At the end, We will get a complete Smart Bumps system
which will offers us both Safety and Non-Wasting resources
anymore. And for sure it will decrease the amounts of
accidents and speeding in the same way. One more thing,
That it’s a big step to reach our National Vision 2030.
• However, We can use this System in front of schools,
hotels, etc…
“SMART SPEED BUMPS”
RECOMMENDATIONS,
• This System have to be used in specific areas,
Such as in front of the schools “Where students
cross the road or Where the buses moves out
of the schools”.
• Our System should be checked and simulated
every 3 months, To keep sure that it works
correctly.
•
CONCLUSIONS
Finally, We have learned how to use and
diagnoses some of the Smart Sensors, And
known how to create some Daily-Use gadgets
easily. Sensors can improve our lives if we do
really use it correctly :)
