The document discusses the importance of adapting to change and taking risks in a rapidly changing world. It states that the biggest risk is not taking any risks, and that companies often fail when they ignore new trends and cling to old ways of doing things. Successful leaders recognize when change is coming and can act before it's too late.

What do all great leaders have in common? Imposter Syndrome, which is a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist even in the face of information that indicates the opposite is true. It's a psychological pattern in which people doubt their accomplishments and have a persistent, often internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud".
Join Amanda Townsend and Renee Metty, two expert coaches and leaders, in this interactive workshop where you will learn where Impostor Syndrome comes from, gain self awareness of your own obstacles, and create strategies for overcoming your fears as a leader.

Have you ever wondered why some companies always stay small? Many times, I have seen private companies grow to around US$50 million in sales and pretty much stop there. I have a feeling one of the reasons is the CEO does not know how to work with managers under him. He likes to make all the decisions and will not delegate decision-making to his managers. This tends to stop growth at that US$50 million level. A few years ago, I prepared a presentation on this problem titled CEO PRIDE. I think it is still important today, so I uploaded it into SLIDESHARE. I talk about using the advantages of pride and avoiding the disadvantages. Have a look at it. If you have any comments on it, drop me a note.

Assignment Content Give each of the following statements a number from 1 to 5 that best
represents your response: (1) strongly disagree (never do this); (2) disagree (rarely do this); (3)
moderately agree (sometimes do this); (4) agree (frequently do this); (5) strongly agree (almost
always do this).
A. I refuse to perpetuate negative stereotypes, and I accept each person as a unique individual
worthy of my respect. B. I make every effort to identify my own prejudiced attitudes and avoid
stereotypical attitudes toward people of color, older people, persons with disabilities, and others
who are different from me. C. I work hard to combat prejudice because it has a negative impact
on my self-esteem and the self-esteem of the victim. D. When I witness discriminatory behavior,
I speak up and/or take action to defend the victim. E. I understand the economics of valuing
diversity and inclusion and support my employer's efforts to hire and retain minority employees.
After identifying your response to each item, select an attitude or skill you would like to
improve. Prepare a written goal and then describe the steps you will take to achieve this goal.
In this book, Marshall Goldsmith begins by examining the trouble with
success, explaining how previous accomplishments often prevent leaders
from gaining more success. He analyzes why high achievers are so resistant
to change due to their delusion of success, pointing out that they can’t see
that what got them here won’t get them there.
These are people who do one annoying thing repeatedly on the job and don’t realize that this small flaw may sabotage their otherwise golden career. Worse yet, they do not realize that it’s happening and that they can fix it. Goldsmith details the 20 habits that hold you back from the top rung of the corporate ladder. In his experience, these are the most irritating interpersonal issues in the workplace. For each habit, he gives examples
and practical solutions you can implement. He then describes the 21st habit, which stands separate from the other 20 habits –– not because it is a flaw, but because it is often the root of an annoying behavior.
Finally, Goldsmith addresses the problem of how you can change your interpersonal relationships for the better, and ensure that you make your behavioral changes permanent.
This summary reveals how you can identify which of these 20 habits apply to you, and how to choose the one or two you should focus on.
In addition, you will learn:
The four key beliefs that make you successful but also resistant to change.
Why the higher you go, the more your problems are behavioral.
Why the 21st habit, goal obsession, may be the most destructive of all.
How to get good 360-degree feedback from your colleagues on your own.
How to overcome special challenges if you’re the one in charge at the workplace.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Guy Barry’s Rule 1.1
The world is changing faster than ever before and we must constantly adapt to
these changes in order to survive.
The biggest risk is not taking any risk…
In a world that’s changing really quickly,
the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.
- Mark Zuckerberg
It’s never easy to accept when bad things happen to us but the best leaders are
quick to realize when change is coming and can therefore act before it’s too late.
The companies that fail are often those that ignore the new trends and hang on to
their old ways of doing things.
3. Introductions *true or false
Everyone introduces themselves to the class in English by
saying your name, your favorite movie and some cool fact
about yourself which can either be a lie or a true fact.
After each introduction the class has to guess whether the
person was telling the truth or a lie.
5. Team exercise #1
Have a team discussion about what it means to be an
entrepreneur and create a list of 5-10 personality
characteristics that you believe are important for all
entrepreneurs.
Develop arguments why these characteristics are
important and talk about which characteristics each of you
have.
6. Team exercise #2
Each member of the team gives themselves a risk tolerance score on
a scale from 1 – 10.
1 = “I try to avoid taking any risks at all” and
10 = “I love taking risks and I don’t mind betting everything I own on
a good opportunity.”
Talk about the concept of risk. Why is it necessary for entrepreneurs
to sometimes take risk? Why can it be dangerous to take risks? What
can entrepreneurs do to be smart about the way they take risk?
7. Group discussion
Each team presents their list of Entrepreneurial Personality
Characteristics.
The teacher writes all the characteristics on the board and scores
how many times each characteristic is mentioned by the teams.
Editor's Notes
To help us stay motivated and energetic we recommend that you use energizers along the way. These are fun little exercises that will train your creative mindset and help you stay focused. You can invent these exercises yourself or you can ask your coach/trainer for suggestions. The first energizer today is called “Going in Vacation”
*Make the student write 5 completely random words on individual sticky notes, then they swop the words with someone from their team WITHOUT READING THE NEW WORDS. Now they should pair up 2 and 2 with a person that has similar hair color
You are now planning a vacation together using the five words you have received.. One person starts talking about where he/she would like to go and the other person can interrupt at any time and use his/her next word to suggest an input for the travel plans.. You are done when both of you have used all your words..
*You as a facilitator should demonstrate the exercise
The idea with this energizer is to train your lateral thinking skills and increase your creative abilities (how to combine new things to come up with good ideas)
