The Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre was built in the largest refugee camps in Bangladesh to help preserve Rohingya culture and identity. It uses locally sourced natural materials like bamboo and palm leaves that Rohingya artisans are skilled with. The design process involved the community to determine building techniques, plant species for gardens, and how the space could best serve cultural needs. Flexible and removable elements allow the structure to function temporarily but provide much-needed community gathering and learning spaces despite the camps' unsettled conditions.
