The site is located in Old Town, Mombasa County. Fort Jesus is 290m away, a 4 minute walk. The buildings around the site are a combination of residential and mixed use, made of limestone walls and teak windows. The site can be accessed via the 5.5m wide Ndia Kuu Road with minimal vehicular traffic. Islam is the dominant religion and the design should meet norms like separate sitting areas for men and women. The design should emulate traditional Swahili architecture using courtyards, balconies, and decorative doors with geometric carvings and Quran verses.
