Faraj Musbah Elmezughi is a Libyan physician and lecturer specializing in anatomy. He received his Ph.D. in Human Anatomy from Ivano-Frankivsk State Medical University in Ukraine. His research focuses on morphological changes in arteries under hypothermia. Elmezughi has worked in Libya and Ukraine as a general practitioner, laboratory assistant, teaching assistant, and lecturer in anatomy and physiology. He is currently a lecturer and department head at the University of Tripoli's Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences.
MsC Thesis Abstract
This research aimed to determine the quality of life of patients who had undergone surgery for major bile duct injuries. The study involved 90 patients at Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty. Data was collected using a patient information form and the SF-36 health survey. The data was analyzed using SPSS software and various statistical tests. It was found that factors like education level, marital status, health insurance, income, number of children, work status, and living situation influenced changes in quality of life. It was proposed to increase awareness of postoperative complications, develop new assessment tools specific to bile duct injuries, and conduct further research across treatment to better understand recovery.

Dr. Shahriyour Andaz, the director of thoracic oncology and director of clinical research at South Nassau Communities Hospital, co-authored a paper on transesophageal echocardiography-induced esophageal perforation that was selected as the Continuing Medical Education article for the September 2013 issue of Echocardiography. The paper analyzed 35 cases of esophageal perforation from other studies and found they occurred predominantly in elderly women undergoing intra-operative TEE exams, even when the patient was perceived to be low risk. While most perforations can be repaired with a good outcome, the development of shock is associated with death from infection.Recommended

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
