Sikhism originated in 15th century India and was founded by Guru Nanak. It is a monotheistic faith that believes in one eternal creator and truth beyond birth and death. Sikhs follow the teachings of 11 Gurus and the holy scripture Guru Granth Sahib. There are approximately 20.6 million Sikhs worldwide, most living in India, with significant populations in the UK as well. Baptized Sikhs, known as Khalsa, wear the five Ks as articles of their faith.
