The main image of Quentin
Tarantino conforms to the
conventions and repertoire of
elements that we would
associated with the Noir
genre. The image is in black
and white so the shadows
are emphasised.
Furthermore the lighting
used is unnatural (in order to
create these shadows) some
what like chiaroscuro
lighting.
The ‘Buzz’ word is often
used to entice the reader,
in this form ‘EXCLUSIVE’
is used.
Cover lines are also used
on front covers to outline
the main topics that will
be covered in the
magazine.

makes it extremely eye
catching. Tarantino is also one
of the most famous film
directors, so therefore even if
someone wasn’t identified as
someone that would read Sight
and Sound (target audience) ,
they would still want to buy it if
that had previously enjoyed one
of his films for example.
