3. Mastheads
This is a masthead of a front cover of my music magazine, these are vital because it
shows of the name of my company making the magazine and this is what gets them
well known and sometimes the colour of the masthead shows an insight to the
magazine like kerrang is a rock magazine and it uses black on its masthead and
IMN is a indie music mag and uses vibrant red to stand out. You also notice that on
both of the mastheads that are covered by some sort of image but you know that the
name is what it is because it is so well known you can notice it strait away.
4. House Style
The house style of my magazine is how
it is set out, and how it draws the
audience in and how it is presented to
different people. For example a house
style would be the white back ground or
the mast head always being the same.
5. Barcode
A barcode on a magazine it for sale
purposes it has to be on every copy
because it needs to be scanned into the
buisness. It also shows the price of the
magazine. Also its shows what social group
the magazine is set in for example the
more expensive, the higher social group.
6. The Lead
The lead text is the main headline of
the front cover and the lead will usually
be in bold and on this occasion capitals
“THE KOWEN BROTHERS” this will
show you what the weekly magazine
will be based on and what people will
buy the magazine based on the music
headline
7. Pull Quote
The pull quote used for this magazine is from the main band, this
quote gives us an insight to what the band experience or feel and it is
more intimate so the audience feel more connecte and involved
8. Cover Photos
Cover photos are pictures of the cover of
the magazine that links to the text above
it for example on this cover it says
“Guitar hero poster special” then below it
has the images of the poster that links to
the text it is linked to.
9. Banners
Banners these are used to stand
out to the on the cover it will on
some occasions they will be bold
and be a different color to stand
out the most.
10. Direct gaze
Direct gaze is when the artist or band
in the photo is looking strait into the
camera lens to make out like they are
staring strait at the audience to make
them feel involved.
