I think her strategy was both unethical and excessive, but it was effective.
She used false, unsubstantiated statements to affect a key health issue that
would have benefited a lot of patients. The bill would have allowed Medicare to pay for optional doctor’s visits to discuss living wills and end of life issues with their physicians (Mason, 2016). As a member of Congress, she and her family are afforded a higher level of health insurance that is effective for life after serving 6 years. Due to her statements all references to end of life planning were deleted from the bill.

I tend to be loyal to my political party but only if the facts support what I think is right. I believe we should all be afforded the right to discuss end of life issues and living wills and have it covered by our insurance and not have our families burdened with these decisions on their own.

There is no perfect legislation so there must be some compromise. I think nurses should endorse legislation if it is for the improvement of health care and in the best interest of the patients and nursing practice.

Kentucky has changed how it is offering health care coverage by requiring its citizens to use the federal health exchange to shop for coverage rather that kynect. This means that its citizen would have to enroll in Medicaid or shop for health insurance under the federal Affordable Care Act, meaning that about 500,000 of Kentucky’s citizen will have to switch over. Advocate of this move believe that it will allow Kentucky to save a substantial amount of money while still allowing citizens to enroll in qualified health plans. Opponents of this movement think that it will cause confusion and coverage loss for those who switch over, such as dental and vision. It is also question whether or not money will be saved because healthy people will be required to pay monthly premiums. Other problems are the lockout of coverage for people who do not pay and would be require to volunteer 20 hours a week just to be able to keep Medicaid coverage. However Governor Bevin defends his plan by saying that the lock out feature and volunteering will just make Kentucky’s citizen more responsible.
The advocate are speaking more from the social gospel characterization because they do believe that everyone should receive some type of health insurance even though it is not the best. Everyone should take of everyone. The opponents seem to be speaking from the puritan side because they feel like it is your own personal responsibility and decision to take care of your health insurance. There are a myriad of obstacles that Robert Banes faced while receiving care for his health problems. Robert is a poor minority, who lacked the resources to fund his medical treatment. Aside from his socioeconomic status and the issues that pertained to that, in regards to his treatment options, the article talked about Robert’s failure to acknowledge his disease, as well placing it at the forefront of his priorities, and his Doctor’s, for lack of better words, lack of empathy to his terminal illness. In the article, he stated that while Doctor’s did tell him about the extent to which the disease was and would take a toll on his survival, he said that that is as far as it went; doctor’s basically told him, you’re dying, but failed to go into detail on how to combat or alleviate the issue.
I would argue that Robert had various avenue’s that he could have reached out to for help, however, it seems to be that he was just uninterested in getting the help. While his lack of interest in his own health was indeed a contributing factor to his .

Kentucky has changed how it is offering health care coverage by requiring its citizens to use the federal health exchange to shop for coverage rather that kynect. This means that its citizen would have to enroll in Medicaid or shop for health insurance under the federal Affordable Care Act, meaning that about 500,000 of Kentucky’s citizen will have to switch over. Advocate of this move believe that it will allow Kentucky to save a substantial amount of money while still allowing citizens to enroll in qualified health plans. Opponents of this movement think that it will cause confusion and coverage loss for those who switch over, such as dental and vision. It is also question whether or not money will be saved because healthy people will be required to pay monthly premiums. Other problems are the lockout of coverage for people who do not pay and would be require to volunteer 20 hours a week just to be able to keep Medicaid coverage. However Governor Bevin defends his plan by saying that the lock out feature and volunteering will just make Kentucky’s citizen more responsible.

There are a myriad of obstacles that Robert Banes faced while receiving care for his health problems. Robert is a poor minority, who lacked the resources to fund his medical treatment. Aside from his socioeconomic status and the issues that pertained to that, in regards to his treatment options, the article talked about Robert’s failure to acknowledge his disease, as well placing it at the forefront of his priorities, and his Doctor’s, for lack of better words, lack of empathy to his terminal illness. It was thought that this venture was actually developed through several other ventures that have all connected through one main goal. Any organization that had the goal to be able to actively communicate with another facility, any nursing home, hospital, physician offices, etc. would have to start small with just one step to acquire the next facility or physician.
Clinical integration can really be broken down into four pieces. It gets broken down into collaborative leadership, aligned incentives, clinical programs, and technology infrastructure. The first piece of the puzzle is the collaborative leadership which pulls the governance body, compliant legal structure, payer strategy, and culture change. Clinical integrated care is physician compensation, program infrastructure, and physician support. Clinical integrated care is the hands on portions in disease programs, clinical, population health, and care regulations. Technology infrastructure includes health information exchange, disease registry, patient portal, and patient longitudinal records.
These four major pieces of the puzzle are not perfect, but they have paved a nice foundation for physicians, clinics, hospitals, and other facilities while being in a position to support future advances in the clinical integration process. Where you have change you have struggles. ACO’s continually have to follow new policies, but will they? Can they stay in an unbiased accountability? How will new policies effect care? How will this effect basic access to care?
In the United States we are in the beginning steps of the health care reform. We cannot say if it will impact us positively or negatively yet, due to the lack of data so far. As the people who need care and easy access to care, we have to be ready for more changes to come and be prepared for the impact it may have on us. If you look at countries around us like Canada, who have a healthcare system that takes care of all its people no matter what, I agree that we should too have this kind of system. Why do we have access and availability for those who have money and great insurance when it is needed but yet we let those who need the assistance slip between the cracks because they may not have the insurance that reimburses at the highest rate or.

- 2. I liked the movies Sicko. It points out many major flaws in the United States healthcare system, but Michael Moore is pretty jaded, and his views are so liberal. I admit change is needed, but I do not think those changes should involve government paying the way through more income tax. Ultimately, I do not want the government to pay for anything for me, but unfortunately, if something were to happen to me, then through the government, taxpayers would have to fit the bill. Believe me, I by no means feel right about it, but what other choice do I have right now? Until I graduate, and hopefully, make enough money to pay for insurance myself, it is the only option I have other than classification at John Peter Smith. For the most part, I refrain from doctor’s visits anyway. I find that I can usually cure whatever problem I am having naturally. Most American’s look to a doctor to cure them with some sort of pill that FDA has approved. Doctors risk consequences from the medical board if they recommend supplements that the FDA has not approved. The FDA is probably the biggest problem associated with the outrageous costs of healthcare today. If it did not cost companies so many millions of dollars in research, then they would not have to charge so much for new medications. Large policyholders get tax breaks, but someone who buys a private policy gets no tax break. None of it makes any sense to me. The more I read, the more I am disturbed. It is going to take more than just healthcare reform to fix this. I think that American’s are much more aware of the problems going on with our government today than they have been in the past, but there is always a way for the rich to manipulate there way back into the shining light in American’s eyes. The changes in healthcare lie within the American people. Elaborating on those changes is something I think I should just keep to myself.
