There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Oh well...Regarding: http://abcnews.go.com/US/carson-city-shooting-unlike-911-sheriff/story?id=14464852 I believe incidents such as this, are the reason why humans have such a profound fascination with murderers today. We, as a society, try so desperately to understand the factors that differentiate a killer’s brain as compared to our own. Obviously, the behavior they exhibit is not even natural for those who measure outside the norms of humanity. What possibilities are behind this killer’s line of reasoning? His actions are so far removed from the majority of our thoughts that it is almost impossible to fathom. Most cannot imagine ANYTHING so overwhelmingly horrible in ones life that would bring him or her to the point of mass murder. The video alluded to mental illness as the root cause of his behavior. I am convinced that random malicious murderers of this nature have more than mere mental illness to blame for their horrible acts alone.. What kind of mental illness did he suffer? Depression? Bi-polar disorder? Conditions such as these are very common, and do not suffice as a logical reason for his extreme acts. The only explanation I could ever begin to grasp would be if this man suffered from schizophrenia. I feel for the victim’s families, as it is devastating to lose a family member to murder. It is so senseless. Why? ! I hope that someday, society will have a better understanding of the psychological and physiological factors that create a murderer. Until then, I guess it is best not to let media coverage create personal fear, but the reality is; it could happen to anyone; anytime. You never know. ..Just make sure that you express the love you have for those that are here today because they may not be here tomorrow.
