Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids
There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project
that they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their
own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out
your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can
not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they
are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That
is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a
picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow
them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the
garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than
one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they
want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up
how and where they want to plantthe seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this
lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each
plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found online. If they write the measurements
down on the map, when it is time to plant they can

Dulce Et Decorum Est Analysis
The war poem Dulce et Decorum est brings to light the astounding suffering and experiences of
suffering endured that characterized the WW1 battlefield and how it reflects upon the ideologies of
patriotism. The author, Wilfred Owen was written this poem in an iambic pentameter. He has
deliberately positioned the reader to distinguish to false portrayal of war itself, perpetuated by the
misleading governmental propagandadeliberately implanted to recruit boys to enlist and sacrifice
themselves in service of the government s imperialistic political ambitions. Owen has been
deliberately confronting towards the reader with loathsome imagery of suffering. This effectively
serves as an antithesis to the governments and society s misrepresentation of war as an honourable
means through which would achieve glory and pride for an individual s name. Contained within
Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Estthe conflicting argument against whether there truly is honour
in dyeing for one s country in World War 1 contradicts the Latin saying, Dulce et Decorum Est,
which translates to it is sweet and honourable to die for the fatherland . This title itself would seem
as if Owen himself doesn t condone the patriotic ideals and propaganda that resulted in the
unnecessary deaths of millions of young men in the war. However, the poem itself contradict this
title. The speaker refuses to accept the Latin saying and actually detests the patriotic argument.
Within Owen s war poem he communicates

Essay On William Lyon Mackenzie King
William Lyon Mackenzie King
Help those who cannot help themselves was William Lyon Mackenzie King s life motto as a
child. William Lyon Mackenzie, better known as Mackenzie King was the 10th Prime Minister
of Canada. Mackenzie was the leader of the liberal party and is currently Canada s longest serving
Prime Minister at 22 years. In this essay I will argue why I believe Mackenzie King should be the
next Prime Minister of Canada. I believe William Lyon Mackenzie Kingshould be the next Prime
Minister of Canada due to his lengthy leadership experiences, his high degree of intelligence and
how he was able to define Canadian Independence.
The first reason I believe William Lyon Mackenzie King should be the next Prime Minister of
Canada is because of his high degree of intelligence. Mackenzie King was born in Kitchener,
Ontario and was raised up in a family of politics. Mackenzie s grandfather was was the first
mayor of Toronto and had led the Upper Canadian Rebellions. William Lyon Mackenzie King has
earned five degrees throughout his life, three of which are from the University of Toronto. After
he processed to the University of Chicago and Harvard where he earned his Master s Degree in
Political Economy in 1898. In 1908 the University of Harvard also had granted William Lyon
Mackenzie King a PhD on his report about the Oriental Immigration to Canada. In which he argued

Derek Jeter
Derek Sanderson Jeter was born on June 26, 1974 in Pequannock, NJ. After spending the early
years of his life growing up less than 30 miles away from Yankee Stadium, his family moved to
Kalamazoo, Michigan where Derek began playing tee ball at the age of five. Thanks to the
influence of his grandmother, he grew up a Yankees fan and idolized outfielder Dave Winfield.
Derek would normally return to New Jersey during the summer to visit his grandparents and
attend Yankees games. His early days on the diamond in Kalamazoo were spent honing his skills
in the Eastwood, Oakwood and Westwood Little Leagues. When he started playing high school ball
in 1989, his talents helped him earn a spot on the Kalamazoo Central varsity team as a freshman....

healthy lifestyle, academic achievement and leadership development and turn away from
substances such as drugs and alcohol. The following season, Derek helped lead the Yankees
back to the postseason, where they would lose to Cleveland in the ALDS. New York rebounded
by winning a franchise record 114 games in 1998, and would capture its second World Series
title in three years. Derek s .324 average, 203 hits, 19 homers and 30 steals helped him earn the
first of six All Star appearances (1998 2002, 2004), and a year later he would bat a career high
.349, as New York cruised to its third championship in four seasons. In 2000, Derek was named
the MVP of both the All Star Game and the World Series, as the Yankees downed the Mets to
capture the Subway Series and a fourth title in Jeter s five seasons in the Majors. On June 3, 2003
Derek was named Captain of New York Yankees, becoming only the 11th player to be named

The Railroad Bride Analysis
Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks
simple, but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is
created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color
orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given
the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear
perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the
object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden
structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other
lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and
the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well.
The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I believe the focal point is

Psychoanalytical Theory Essays
Psychoanalytical Theory Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) was the first person to initiate the thought of
psychoanalysis. According to Friedlander (1947), classical Freudian psychoanalytic explanations of
delinquency focus on abnormalities or disturbances in the individual s emotional development from
early childhood. Since then many people have amended his original writings and presently there
are numerous versions Freud s original psychoanalytical theory. Many of these recent versions are
similar to the original version with the exception that they are updated to current times. Few new
models are extremely different from Freud s theory. Adler, Mueller, and Laufer (2004) describe the

86). The psychoanalytical theory focuses on the development of personality, the stages of
development and the emotional problems reflecting some unconscious aspects of one s
psychological functioning. Adler, Mueller, and Laufer (2004) base this theory on three principles.
First, The actions and behavior of an adult are understood in terms of childhood development.
Second, Behavior and unconscious motives are intertwined, and their interaction must be
unraveled if we are to understand criminality. Third, Criminality is essentially a representation of
psychological conflict (p. 86). Freud believes that criminality has a lot to do with the structural
model of the mind. He breaks the mind down into three categories; the Id, Ego, and the Superego.
The Id is the unconscious seat of irrational, antisocial, and instinctual impulses which must be
controlled and shaped for social adaptation to life in society (Akers, 1999, p. 50). When newborn
babies are born, they have biological drives that are unaffected by society. The Id can be considered
the instructional forces, which focuses around sexual desires or drives. This is now the time when
the infant knows nothing but the pleasure principle and when tension gets high it will only behave

majority of the studies mention some statistical evidence of the number of HBCU graduates each
year, some of the progress certain HBCUs are making in their states to improve society, as well as
the economic benefits of costing less than many traditional institutions. While HBCUs are trying to

Another avenue that can be discussed in the sport that is being managed and why it may be
harder for minorities to take over. A look in Major League Baseball, shows that baseball is
America s pastime. With the sport being a white dominated sport by leadership, it s harder for
minorities to integrate into leadership roles. Sack, Singh Thiel (2005) suggests, there is reason to
believe that positional segregation by race and ethnicity, or stacking, does have an indirect,
disparate negative impact on minorities. There are patterns of segregation in the sport of baseball
and it continues since everyone that is brought into the professional baseball world are actually

Women s Experiences During The Holocaust
While women s experiences during the Holocaust were not entirely different from those of men, it
would be false and misleading to assert that they were identical. There were many instances in
which an individual s ordeal was shaped by his or her gender and it is only by understanding what
was unique to women and children, and what was unique to men, that we can provide a complete
account of what occurred during the Holocaust. One of the reasons it took so long for historians to
comprehend the importance of these perspectives is because women were busy rebuilding their
lives after the Holocaust. It wasn t until the 1970s when feminist scholarship was sparked, that there
became an interest in the stories of women survivors. Eventually, after the women were able to put
their lives back together and raise their children, it became important for them to share their
memoirs.
One source of gender difference during the Holocaust experience women had more anticipatory
reactions towards Nazi danger. In Germany, even before the 1938 Kristallnachtpogrom, it was
often the women who had to assume new roles to rescue other family members. It was assumed
that the Nazis would not harm women, so it was typically women who went to the police, the SS
and the municipality to protest haphazard actions against their children and families and to secure
the release of husbands and sons who had been detained or arrested.

Sons Of Liberty Apush Dbq
1. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British
Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began
looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the
late 1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting
to gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants
and classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by
Parliament. One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they
viewed this as a threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and
enforcing boycott efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91).

The Act was not intended to benefit the colonies in any way and it was met with great
resistance. The Tea Act served two purposes: to bail out the East India Company financially by
giving it a monopoly on tea sales and to assert Parliament s authority over the colonists since they
were not allowed to buy tea from any other merchant. The East India Company was a private
company, but played an important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered
many of the colonial tea merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven
out of business. Parliament gave the East India Company a series of rebates and tax exemptions,
which allowed them to deliver a large amount of low priced tea to the colonies (Foner, Give 192).

On a quiet summer night on June 17, 2015 a 19 year old young man, wearing a gray sweatshirt,
dark jeans and Timberlands, walked into a historic, pre civil war era church. There was no lock
preventing his entry. There was no security guard he had to walk by. There was only a security

unarmed person after another, after another. He took the necessary time needed to ensure each
shot was a lethal shot as most of the parishners were dead before emergency medical attention
would arrive. The armed gunman was not concerned he would be stopped by any of those inside
Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. He was not concerned any of his
victims would have a firearm that could be used against him. Why? Maybe it s because people of
worship feel safe enough inside their house of worship. Therefore, a firearm is unnecessary.
Maybe it s because even legal Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) holders cannot freely carry a
firearm inside a church. No matter the reason, no one inside the church felt compelled to carry a
concealed weapon that fateful night in Charleston, South Carolina.

Adult Criminals
To hold adolescents to the same level of responsibility as adults in the legal system is an appalling
notion, as an adolescent s thought processes are not fully formative. There are already more
effective systems in place that are specifically geared towards adolescents, and being imprisoned
with adults would also be detrimental to the impressionable mind of a youth. While it is important
for anyone who commits a crimeto be held accountable, the level to which the person may take
responsibility will vary heavily, depending on age. Adolescents are not legally considered adults for
a plethora of reasons, one of which being their rudimentary mental capacities. The treatment of a
juvenile crime must differ from that of an adult crime, because... Show more content on

Because an adolescent is not fully capable of understanding their crime, they should not be harshly
punished with no explanation. Instead, they should be placed in therapy at a juvenile treatment
center. Many high risk adolescents face issues of homelessness, physical or sexual abuse by a
guardian, parental substance abuse, gang activity, and genetic predisposition to mental illness.
These factors increase the likelihood of criminal behavior due to exposure during childhood or as a
means to survive. For both high risk male and female juveniles, the risk of adult incarceration in
any given year was reduced when they were in a serious relationship and/or regularly employed in
the previous year (Joosen et al., 2015). Positive reinforcement stemming from the work place or a
romantic relationship heavily influence many adolescent offenders. If these juvenile criminals were
treated as adults in a court of law, they would later be void of these opportunities that could

Backdrop Addresses Cowboy Analyses
Backdrop addresses cowboy by Margaret Atwood The male hero could be said to be portrayed
in Atwood s poem Backdrop addresses cowboy by the cowboy. The cowboy is a clichГ©d
symbol of masculinity made famous by the Western film industry of America. One can
immediately conjure him up, square jawed and handsomely rugged in Stetson and spurred boots,
galloping around on his trusty steed rescuing damsels in distress with whom he intends on riding
off romantically into the sunset with. This is however not the cowboy that we are confronted with
in the poem. In the first stanza he is described as starspangled and porcelain which are both terms
for decoration or ornament. That his grin is porcelain in line 4 shows fixedness, like a doll... Show

The first half of the poem addresses the cowboy which we can tell by the words of address you
and your while the second half while still addressing the cowboy is contemplating the speaker,
the metaphorical backdrop s position in relation to the cowboy. The backdrop could be a
metaphor for the rest of us, the seemingly unimportant ones, the background upon which the
cowboy plays his life. The backdrop is aware of the cowboy s real nature and is calling the
cowboy on it. Instead of watching... when the shooting starts... I am elsewhere (line 24) This
could be said to belittle the cowboy, that instead of hands clasped in admiration at his
performance of violence which the cowboy may think heroic, the I has better things to do. In
the title the backdrop is also given a capital while the word cowboy is not, making him seem
inferior when usually a backdrop would be what is unimportant in comparison to an actor. The I
of the poem is also described as something the cowboy wants but cannot have confronting you on
that border you are trying to cross in lines 27 and 28 and the thing you can never lasso in line 30.
This shows that the cowboy is not infallible and once again puts the backdrop in a superior
position to the cowboy. The speaker

Hall 1. All Over America, Undergraduate And Postgraduate
Hall 1
All over America, undergraduate and postgraduate students are feeling the pressure of student
loans and their debts. A student loan is a type of loan designed to help students pay for post
secondary education and the associated fees, such as tuition, books and supplies, and living
expenses (Mitchell 15). While it may sound like an inviting way to pay for college, it comes with its
downfalls. Rapidly rising college tuition costs have made student debt the only option to pay for
college for many students (Kristof). Student loans are increasing $3,055 every second (Kristof).
The average student in America graduates with $35,000 in student loans (Akers 18). In fact, student

Private colleges are twenty seven percent more likely to take part in gapping than public
colleges. Private colleges are a lot more expensive and so they need to bait their aspiring
students by allowing them to be accepted, but not allowing them to actually go because they
cannot afford it. At the end of the day, colleges need to face the problem head on instead of
creating new way to go around the issue of tuition and those who cannot afford it. Today, there
are many grants and extra loans one can either win or apply for, including the Pell Grant. A Pell
Grant is a subsidy the United States Federal Government provides for students who need it to
pay for college. They are limited to students with financial need, who have not earned their first
bachelor s degree. The Pell Grant program gives out around $34.3 billion per year. These grants
help many of those who are struggling with gapping or just with financial aid alone get pay for
their education. These loans increase everybody else s tuition by fifty cents on the dollar. In some
cases loans are not only putting those who use them in financial distress, but also those people who
pay tuition. The Upper Class of the United States is still included in receiving loans, even though

Child Murderer Personification
I chose the above paragraph to draw information from for my poem because the lead paragraph
immediately caught my attention. I found the article to be intriguing mainly as a result of the
disturbing topic it revolved around. Stories of child murderers are relatively uncommon and
oppose societal norms which is why I find them to be interesting. Moreover, I have always been
curious to learn more about child murderers as I do not understand why a child would want to
murder their family, which is also why I was drawn to this article. I did make one modification to
the original idea of the newspaper by presenting the murderer as an individual who is also
suffering from a mental illness, namely, schizophrenia. It is not mentioned in the article whether or
not the child suffers from a mental illness. However, I decided to present him in the way I did in

A Proposal to Ban Smoking in Public Areas Essay
A Proposal to Ban Smoking in Public Areas
Every year, there are over 400,000 smoking related deaths in the United States. A large percentage
of these are due to lung cancer, whose leading cause is smoking. However, not all deaths are
smokers themselves. Anyone in the vicinity can fall victim to second hand smoke. These people,
through no action of their own, can have their lives threatened.
This problem, which plagues all Americans, should have action taken on a local scale to help
protect the health of the public. The Ames City Council is in the process of debating a city
ordanince which whould ban smoking in all public places, with the exception of those designated
as smokng areas . A public place shall be defined by Subsection... Show more content on

Keep in mind, these people don?t smoke themselves, but they are still put at risk by the actions
of others. The Saskatchewan Instite?s webpage goes on to state that half of all children exposed
to second hand smoke are exposed at home. While this is an important fact, its importance lies in
opposite, half are exposed in places other than at home. In America 25,000 people are killed every
year in car accidents, while 53,000 die from second hand smoke (from Office on Smoking and
Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/sgr/sgr_1988/).
Action must be taken to protect these people from a threat over which they have no control.
In addition to statistics, a situation to illustrate the necessity for this proposal can be considered.
Imagine a family, Mom, Dad, and their three children, are going out to eat in a nice restaurant for
Mom?s birthday. When the waitress asks if they?d like smoking or non smoking, they Dad requests
non, because he is concerned about his family?s health. However, the truth about this decision is
that in reality, just being in the restaurant increases the threats to their family.
Those who are opposed to this ban contend that it will hurt economic prosperity of their bars/taverns
/clubs/restaurents, which are the areas that would be most effected by this ordanence. However,
according to a recent study conducted by the Substance Abuse Policy Research Program in New

Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private
sphere is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to
interference from the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most
always has a hidden agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize.
American troops tend to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in
Afghanistan because these issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to
gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for
seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen
years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her

Puerto Rican Culture
The term Hispanic refers to people who are capable of speaking and comprehending the Spanish
language, and whose ancestry identifies with the Hispanic culture. The three main Hispanic groups
in the United States are Cubans, Mexicans, and Puerto Ricans. Puerto Ricans are people who
identify themselves as Hispanics of Puerto Rican origin, meaning they were either born in Puerto
Rico, or have familyancestry that traces back to Puerto Rico. According to Lopez Patten (2015), in
2013, Puerto Ricans were the second largest Hispanic origin population living in the United States,
accounting for 9.5%. This population continues to grow. In fact, between 1980 and 2013, the
Puerto Rican population in the United States had increased by 56% (Lopez Patten, 2015). Puerto
Rican culture is unique, and quite complex. To gain knowledge and a better understanding of the
Puerto Rican culture, I attended the Puerto Rican Festival held in Milwaukee, and conducted an
interview with Melinda Nieves, a Puerto Rican woman living in Appleton. Through these
experiences, I found that Puerto Rican culture is centered around language, family, and religion, as
well as music and delicious food.
Language in the Puerto Rican Culture One of the first things I noticed while attending the Puerto
Rican Festival was the language differences (2017). Most people spoke Spanish, and Spanish
seemed to be their preferred language over English. At the festival, it was difficult to communicate.

The Lopez family has several macro issues; they suffer from legalization status, financial
problems, and lack of services; which all qualify to be conflict theory. Mr. Lopez, Tomas, and
Gabriela do not have their legal resident card that allows them to stay legally in the United
States. This would prevent them from getting several services in the United States. This can also
prevent the family from trying to get any services for the fear of being deported back to
Guatemala. Especially since Mrs. Lopez family was recently deported to Mexico. Do to their
legal status in the United States, the family has to deal with oppression. In the United States,
there are several services that are only provided to people who are legal, but others do not
request a legal status. The family could possibly fear deportation if they request any type of
services. As for Mr. Lopez legal status, he cannot apply for a better paying job. As stated in the
family assessment, Mr. Lopez job its only seasonal, there are several months where he does not
bring any income to the family, and Mrs. Lopez is responsible for all the bills during those
months. Because of Mr. Lopez legal status, he cannot apply for unemployment, and help Mrs.
Lopez in those months that he does not work. On the assessment done on the family, it not
specified the residency of the family. Some rural areas do not have many services for migrating
families. The assessment stated that everyone in the family spoke English and Spanish; the
concern will be how influence is Mr. Lopez on English, or is the family would rather have all

of distribution of services. The Lopez family might not feel comfortable looking for professional

is that they have no interest in being rule, do not like to be told what to do, and are rarely

System Design Failures Of Vlsi Circuits
SYSTEM DESIGN FAILURES
Introduction:
Simulation in VLSI circuits are used to evaluate codes that are used in certain applications to
improve the integration process and in the Printed Circuit Board Fabrication process. Simulation is
done to determine the fault in the process. It has great role in Printed Circuit Board fabrication. In
VLSI Testing simulations are classified mainly into Exhaustive Simulation and Non Exhaustive
Simulation. [1]
Exhaustive Simulation: This process that involves applying all possible inputs to the circuit under
test (CUT) by simulating them and checking to see if the output responses are identical for every
input. The major drawback with this process is the number of test patterns. [2]
Non Exhaustive Simulation: This process involves deterministic compact and pseudo random test
sets. This will test the circuit within acceptable time and cost. This reduced test set may be based
upon fault models, particularly the stuck at model. However, it is often required to estimate how
effective is this non exhaustive test set is in detecting possible faults in the circuit under test (CUT).

Visual Management, Single Minute Exchange Of Die ( Smed )...
Introduction:
In today s world, opening or managing a company is very difficult. The Economic crisis, heavy
taxation and barriers of entrance in some countries, make it more difficult. But all blame can t be
given to external factors. Most of the times the critical factors are inside the company. So what is
the right way of managing a company? In this assignment I studied and analyzed three tools that
can help me and are fundamental to success in this business world that is ruled by time and
efficiency.
The tools I selected are: Visual Management, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) and Value
Stream Mapping.
VISUAL MANAGEMENT:
In order to continuously improve and progress as an organization, people need to observe,

easier to interpret and immediately available. Is such an intuitive strategy, many people don t even
realize that they used it in their daily lives and despites this prevalent outside of work place most
of organizations don t know how to take follow advantage of it. The simplicity of visual
management causes many people to overlook its usefulness.

Apostle Paul Use Of The Armor Of God
Hermeneutical Application by George Mburu, KE100653
Apostle Paul use of the Armor of God
The author undertakes an application of biblical Hermeneutics in respect to the Apostle Paul s
address of the armor of God to the Ephesian Church. Actually, the author comes alive to the need of
proper Hermeneutic skills for right application of the biblical Corpus. Indeed, the use of necessary
tools has been encouraged for better application of the Scriptures. Towards the end of the essay, the
author makes tentative conclusions.

Introduction
The term Hermeneutics comes from a Greek word, that means to interpret hence it signifies
interpretation of literary text to the fullest measure. In addition, for that practice, sound principles

Human Development Index
The critical difference between most development models and the human development index is that
most development models only focus on income while the human development index includes the
enlargement of all human choices economic, political, social and cultural which all affect income.
Comparing countries Gross National Product/Gross Domestic Product per capita is the most
common way of measuring the level of development today. This model of economic growth
assessment is based on a weak foundation that is not sustainable over a long term economically,
ethnically and politically. Higher per capita income in a country does not necessarily mean that the
country s inhabitants are better off than those in a country with a lower income per capita. Along
with many other measures of development, these various indicators do no capture many aspects of
human well being. Sometimes, a country with a high level of national income records a
significantly high percentage proportion deemed to be in poverty, illiterate, in poor health, with no
access to a clean water supply and sanitation, and thus limited a huge disparity is observed, based on
gender inequality, ethnicity and income.
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a compilation statistics of mean schooling years, life
expectancy and income recorded then used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.
The ranking illustrates how capable a country is. The changing of prices throughout the economy

preserve the low status and nature of the beasts by denying any human attributes that are inherent in
the animals. Moreau s focus is on prohibiting the non human animals from having and
demonstrating emotions and attributes that are traditionally anthropocentric (human). Moreau does
not allow the non human animals to feel and demonstrate human emotions and symbolic attributes,
including the desire for self defense, autonomy, and feelings of shame (Wells 95 97). The objective
of Moreau seems to be to create and preserve a gap between the human beings and animal creatures.
Nevertheless, in his efforts, Moreau inadvertently reveals the significance of the nature and status
of human beings.
In his efforts to vivisect non human animals and make them rational creatures , Moreau does not
differentiate between animal and rational characteristics. The effect of Moreau s actions and
outlook in the novel is to influence the audience s recognition of subjectivity as an important factor
in differentiating between human beings and animals. In the novel, Wells promotes the notion that
while human beings are animals, human animality represents a threat to progress. Moreau believes
that human perfection is a possibility, aiming to accelerate the process of evolution artificially to
transform animals into human beings mentally, emotionally, and physically. While respecting the
aims of Moreau, the narrator in the novel, Prendick, feels pity for the consequential Beast People ,
who he views as failed experiments (Wells 121). Moreau is unable to achieve his objectives,
complaining that the instincts, desires, and cravings that inundate the animals creep back
immediately after his experiment. When Prendick returns to England, he is constantly nervous
about human beings.
The character of Edward Prendick, who is the protagonist and narrator in

  • 2. Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project that they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to plantthe seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found online. If they write the measurements down on the map, when it is time to plant they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dulce Et Decorum Est Analysis The war poem Dulce et Decorum est brings to light the astounding suffering and experiences of suffering endured that characterized the WW1 battlefield and how it reflects upon the ideologies of patriotism. The author, Wilfred Owen was written this poem in an iambic pentameter. He has deliberately positioned the reader to distinguish to false portrayal of war itself, perpetuated by the misleading governmental propagandadeliberately implanted to recruit boys to enlist and sacrifice themselves in service of the government s imperialistic political ambitions. Owen has been deliberately confronting towards the reader with loathsome imagery of suffering. This effectively serves as an antithesis to the governments and society s misrepresentation of war as an honourable means through which would achieve glory and pride for an individual s name. Contained within Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Estthe conflicting argument against whether there truly is honour in dyeing for one s country in World War 1 contradicts the Latin saying, Dulce et Decorum Est, which translates to it is sweet and honourable to die for the fatherland . This title itself would seem as if Owen himself doesn t condone the patriotic ideals and propaganda that resulted in the unnecessary deaths of millions of young men in the war. However, the poem itself contradict this title. The speaker refuses to accept the Latin saying and actually detests the patriotic argument. Within Owen s war poem he communicates ... • 7. The Railroad Bride Analysis Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple, but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the picture. According to Friedlander (1947), classical Freudian psychoanalytic explanations of delinquency focus on abnormalities or disturbances in the individual s emotional development from early childhood. Since then many people have amended his original writings and presently there are numerous versions Freud s original psychoanalytical theory. The psychoanalytical theory focuses on the development of personality, the stages of development and the emotional problems reflecting some unconscious aspects of one s psychological functioning. Adler, Mueller, and Laufer (2004) base this theory on three principles. First, The actions and behavior of an adult are understood in terms of childhood development. Second, Behavior and unconscious motives are intertwined, and their interaction must be unraveled if we are to understand criminality. Third, Criminality is essentially a representation of psychological conflict (p. 86). Freud believes that criminality has a lot to do with the structural model of the mind. He breaks the mind down into three categories; the Id, Ego, and the Superego. The Id is the unconscious seat of irrational, antisocial, and instinctual impulses which must be controlled and shaped for social adaptation to life in society (Akers, 1999, p. 50). When newborn babies are born, they have biological drives that are unaffected by society. The Id can be considered the instructional forces, which focuses around sexual desires or drives. For the positive aspects, the majority of the studies mention some statistical evidence of the number of HBCU graduates each year, some of the progress certain HBCUs are making in their states to improve society, as well as the economic benefits of costing less than many traditional institutions. • 18. Women s Experiences During The Holocaust While women s experiences during the Holocaust were not entirely different from those of men, it would be false and misleading to assert that they were identical. There were many instances in which an individual s ordeal was shaped by his or her gender and it is only by understanding what was unique to women and children, and what was unique to men, that we can provide a complete account of what occurred during the Holocaust. One of the reasons it took so long for historians to comprehend the importance of these perspectives is because women were busy rebuilding their lives after the Holocaust. It wasn t until the 1970s when feminist scholarship was sparked, that there became an interest in the stories of women survivors. Eventually, after the women were able to put their lives back together and raise their children, it became important for them to share their memoirs. One source of gender difference during the Holocaust experience women had more anticipatory reactions towards Nazi danger. In Germany, even before the 1938 Kristallnachtpogrom, it was often the women who had to assume new roles to rescue other family members. It was assumed that the Nazis would not harm women, so it was typically women who went to the police, the SS and the municipality to protest haphazard actions against their children and families and to secure the release of husbands and sons who had been detained or arrested. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the late 1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting to gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants and classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by Parliament. One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they viewed this as a threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and enforcing boycott efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The East India Company was a private company, but played an important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered many of the colonial tea merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven out of business. A Speech On A Quiet Summer Night Essay Introduction On a quiet summer night on June 17, 2015 a 19 year old young man, wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark jeans and Timberlands, walked into a historic, pre civil war era church. There was no lock preventing his entry. There was no security guard he had to walk by. There was only a security camera that would catch his unassuming entrance. Once inside he sat quietly as the regular attendees held a small prayer service. He was welcomed and sat with the small group as they read the word of God. No one could tell from his demeanor or his appearance he was there to do unthinkable harm to those inside. And without provocation or warning he began to shoot one unarmed person after another, after another. He took the necessary time needed to ensure each shot was a lethal shot as most of the parishners were dead before emergency medical attention would arrive. The armed gunman was not concerned he would be stopped by any of those inside Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. He was not concerned any of his victims would have a firearm that could be used against him. Why? Maybe it s because people of worship feel safe enough inside their house of worship. Therefore, a firearm is unnecessary. Maybe it s because even legal Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) holders cannot freely carry a firearm inside a church. No matter the reason, no one inside the church felt compelled to carry a concealed weapon that fateful night in Charleston, South Carolina. On another sultry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the assessment done on the family, it not specified the residency of the family. Some rural areas do not have many services for migrating families. The assessment stated that everyone in the family spoke English and Spanish; the concern will be how influence is Mr. Lopez on English, or is the family would rather have all services in Spanish since its everyone s first language. Conflict theory will see this as an inequality of distribution of services. The Lopez family might not feel comfortable looking for professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Cultural Diversity In The Spirit Catches You And You Fall... Cultural Diversity What happens when two very different or even mutually exclusive cultural perspective are forced into contact with one another? In Anne Fadiman s The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, there is a division between the shamanistic insubordinate cultural of Hmong refugees in Merced, California and the cold analytical approach of western medicine. In the early 1980s, the child of a Hmong refugee family in Merced, California is born with epilepsy, her name is Lia Lee. Anne Fadiman traces the interaction between these two cultures and Lia s disease, she reviews that misunderstanding and miscommunication can have calamitous consequences for all involved. The author introduces many characters throughout the book and they all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The doctors assuming the Lee were giving their daughter her medications, were surprised to not see levels of the medications in her blood. Dan Murphy who was one of Lia s doctor questioned the parents and he learned that due to their cultural beliefs, Lia s parents have not been administering her with the proper medicine. Where Lia s mother believes she is doing the right thing for her daughter, Murphy has sympathy for the mother and told Fadiman I remember having a little bit of awe of how differently we looked at the world . A key feature of the Hmong is that they have no interest in being rule, do not like to be told what to do, and are rarely persuaded by the customs of other culture. The mistrust and open hostility between the medical staff and the Lee family seemed to overshadow Lia s disease. Both side obviously loves Lia and wants her healthy but neither was willing to compromised and meet half way. Social Worker Jeanine Hilt was one of the character who appeared to empathize with both side. Unlike the doctors and nurses at MCMC who are also American like Jeanine, she falls in love with not just Lia but also her family. She makes it her duty to understand every aspect of Lia s life from her illness to her culture. A young American woman, Jeanine is assigned to Lia s case after Neil Ernst contacts Child Protective Services (CPS)which was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Research on Reaction Time The Effect of Stimulus Type on Reaction Time Katelin Wagoner Anderson University Abstract Previous studies on reaction time have examined the effects of different kinds of stimuli; this experiment specifically tests reaction time in response to auditory and visual stimuli. The common belief is that an auditory stimulus is faster than visual stimuli. There were 23 participants; 95% were Caucasian, with six males and 17 females. This experiment required participants to respond to either an auditory or visual cue by pressing a button. The data was measured by way of a stop clock. Using a two tailed dependent t test to analyze the data, it was found that the critical t was greater than the t obtained resulting in the retention of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Four participants entered the room at one time; two experimenters and two respondents. The respondent was instructed to stand in front of the apparatus with their entire dominant hand resting on the table. They were also told to place their dominant hand behind a tape mark, with all fingers and the palm on the table. After each trial they were instructed to return their hand to the taped position. The experimenter would choose what set of five audible and five visual cues to use, but would also tell the participant which set would be used. After one set of five stimuli, the opposite (visual or auditory) set was selected until two auditory and two visual sets were completed. The experimenters and respondents then switched roles after the respondents had finished their sets. Every fifteen minutes two new experimenters and two new participants replaced the previous participants until all trials had been completed. The respondent s times were recorded on the data sheet to a thousandth of a second and entered into Excel program, ensuring accuracy. Results Using a dependent two tailed t test it was found that the critical t, 2.07, was greater than the t obtained, 1.36, resulting in the retention of the null hypothesis. (See Table 1). The degrees of freedom were 22 and the level of significance was 0.05. The p value of the dependant values was 0.19. Table 1 Means and Standard Deviations for the Two Levels of the ... • 37. System Design Failures Of Vlsi Circuits SYSTEM DESIGN FAILURES Introduction: Simulation in VLSI circuits are used to evaluate codes that are used in certain applications to improve the integration process and in the Printed Circuit Board Fabrication process. Simulation is done to determine the fault in the process. It has great role in Printed Circuit Board fabrication. In VLSI Testing simulations are classified mainly into Exhaustive Simulation and Non Exhaustive Simulation. [1] Exhaustive Simulation: This process that involves applying all possible inputs to the circuit under test (CUT) by simulating them and checking to see if the output responses are identical for every input. The major drawback with this process is the number of test patterns. [2] Non Exhaustive Simulation: This process involves deterministic compact and pseudo random test sets. This will test the circuit within acceptable time and cost. This reduced test set may be based upon fault models, particularly the stuck at model. However, it is often required to estimate how effective is this non exhaustive test set is in detecting possible faults in the circuit under test (CUT). Example: SRT Algorithm. [3] System Design Failure are failures in a design, a manufacturing or an assembly process, or a product or service. The Pentium Bug and Ariane 5 Disaster are some of the system design failures. The Pentium Bug: THE ISSUE: The Pentium bug or Pentium FDIV bug was a computer arithmetic bug that affected the floating point unit (FPU) instruction set of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Visual Management, Single Minute Exchange Of Die ( Smed )... Introduction: In today s world, opening or managing a company is very difficult. The Economic crisis, heavy taxation and barriers of entrance in some countries, make it more difficult. But all blame can t be given to external factors. Most of the times the critical factors are inside the company. So what is the right way of managing a company? In this assignment I studied and analyzed three tools that can help me and are fundamental to success in this business world that is ruled by time and efficiency. The tools I selected are: Visual Management, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) and Value Stream Mapping. VISUAL MANAGEMENT: In order to continuously improve and progress as an organization, people need to observe, communicate and sharing information. The visual management is a strategy that make information easier to interpret and immediately available. Is such an intuitive strategy, many people don t even realize that they used it in their daily lives and despites this prevalent outside of work place most of organizations don t know how to take follow advantage of it. The simplicity of visual management causes many people to overlook its usefulness. Image using a water faucet with impropriate mark handles. • 40. Apostle Paul Use Of The Armor Of God Hermeneutical Application by George Mburu, KE100653 Apostle Paul use of the Armor of God The author undertakes an application of biblical Hermeneutics in respect to the Apostle Paul s address of the armor of God to the Ephesian Church. Actually, the author comes alive to the need of proper Hermeneutic skills for right application of the biblical Corpus. Indeed, the use of necessary tools has been encouraged for better application of the Scriptures. Towards the end of the essay, the author makes tentative conclusions. KEYWORDS: Bible, God, hermeneutics, exegesis, corpus, text, context, application, hope, warfare, Greco Roman, kingdom, struggle, believer, victory Introduction The term Hermeneutics comes from a Greek word, that means to interpret hence it signifies interpretation of literary text to the fullest measure. In addition, for that practice, sound principles must be employed in the interpretation of the text. Therefore, one realizes that, when exegesis concerns itself with the meaning of a text to its ... • 41. Human Development Index The critical difference between most development models and the human development index is that most development models only focus on income while the human development index includes the enlargement of all human choices economic, political, social and cultural which all affect income. Comparing countries Gross National Product/Gross Domestic Product per capita is the most common way of measuring the level of development today. This model of economic growth assessment is based on a weak foundation that is not sustainable over a long term economically, ethnically and politically. Higher per capita income in a country does not necessarily mean that the country s inhabitants are better off than those in a country with a lower income per capita. Along with many other measures of development, these various indicators do no capture many aspects of human well being. Sometimes, a country with a high level of national income records a significantly high percentage proportion deemed to be in poverty, illiterate, in poor health, with no access to a clean water supply and sanitation, and thus limited a huge disparity is observed, based on gender inequality, ethnicity and income. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a compilation statistics of mean schooling years, life expectancy and income recorded then used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. The ranking illustrates how capable a country is. The changing of prices throughout the economy due to inflation may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Subjectivity In Doctor Moreau s The Island Of Doctor Moreau In The Island of Doctor Moreau, one of the important characters is Moreau, a vivisectionist who has fled the exposure of his experiments to a remote island with the aim of pursuing his focus on research in the effort to perfect the Beast Folk . Moreau s claim is that the aim of his experiments and interactions with the beasts is to raise them into human creatures, buthis true purpose is to preserve the low status and nature of the beasts by denying any human attributes that are inherent in the animals. Moreau s focus is on prohibiting the non human animals from having and demonstrating emotions and attributes that are traditionally anthropocentric (human). Moreau does not allow the non human animals to feel and demonstrate human emotions and symbolic attributes, including the desire for self defense, autonomy, and feelings of shame (Wells 95 97). The objective of Moreau seems to be to create and preserve a gap between the human beings and animal creatures. Nevertheless, in his efforts, Moreau inadvertently reveals the significance of the nature and status of human beings. In his efforts to vivisect non human animals and make them rational creatures , Moreau does not differentiate between animal and rational characteristics. The effect of Moreau s actions and outlook in the novel is to influence the audience s recognition of subjectivity as an important factor in differentiating between human beings and animals. In the novel, Wells promotes the notion that while human beings are animals, human animality represents a threat to progress. Moreau believes that human perfection is a possibility, aiming to accelerate the process of evolution artificially to transform animals into human beings mentally, emotionally, and physically. While respecting the aims of Moreau, the narrator in the novel, Prendick, feels pity for the consequential Beast People , who he views as failed experiments (Wells 121). Moreau is unable to achieve his objectives, complaining that the instincts, desires, and cravings that inundate the animals creep back immediately after his experiment. When Prendick returns to England, he is constantly nervous about human beings. The character of Edward Prendick, who is the protagonist and narrator in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
