This document defines and describes different shot types used in filmmaking including extreme wide shots, wide shots, mid shots, medium close ups, close ups, and extreme close ups. Extreme wide shots show the context but not the subject. Wide shots show the full body from head to toe. Mid shots show some part of the subject in more detail from the waist up. Medium close ups show the subject from the chest up. Close ups focus on a certain body part filling the entire frame. Extreme close ups emphasize emotions by showing extreme detail usually of the eyes and nose.
