The budget of short films are typically low, this
because most short film directors are independent
without the sufficient backing in terms of funding.

keeps the budget down as well as only using 2/3
locations.

4. Characters
In short films there is a convention where there is no
more than 3 main characters, because being a ‘short’ film
they do not have enough time to create an intense story
line where the audience get to know the characters in
more detail. So, short films tend to have no more than 3
main characters so the viewers can relate to the characters
in a small amount of time.

making the story have a message to it. This allows

7. Research into Short film industry
From music videos to politics, short films are the medium of choice to communicate
ideology, vision, style and much more.
For a long time short films have been the underdog of the film industry but they are
set to become a bigger deal than Hollywood movies themselves.
A short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. Although no
consensus exists as to where that boundary is drawn, the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running
time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits“. The term featurette originally applied
to a film longer than a short subject, but shorter than a standard feature film.
