2. Length
Short films run anything from a minute and a half to 35 minutes.
Most generally they range from 5 – 15 minutes in length.
Anything longer than that wouldn’t be considered a “short film”.
3. Cast
The number of characters kind of has to be kept at a low.
Since there isn’t enough time for more. And as for their
character development and depth, short films take
advantage and create quality writing for the selected period
of time so emotions can be felt even for a short film.
4. The Twist
Short films always have a plot twist, morel like they need to. The reason for
it is to keep the audience enticed.
Without it it would rather be a short video on a topic instead of a storyline.
5. Budget
Short films don’t cost much to make. Usually two or three
main actors are used as well as two or three locations. It
works for the short film department since they don’t cost
much to make, and they take advantage and use quality
instead of quantity. So they make a rather cheap short
film practically anyone can watch and not take much of
their time, and give them a swirl of emotions or
enjoyment. This ofcourse depends on how much heart,
thought, and effort they put into their work. Always.
6. Situation
An important factor for short films is to take an
everyday scenario that we can all relate to more or
less.
This allows the viewer to relate more to the short film,
and yet give a twist of said relatable scenario.
7. Purpose
Short films aren’t made for the money, since it didn’t cost much and wont
get as much as a lengthy film. Rather to show the talents of the producer
and director.
Another idea is to make a short film to propose a movie idea, so to show
the directors talents and efforts through a small movie. And hope to be
noticed and then be given finances to appeal and create a full-fledged
movie project.
