The Argument Against the Health Care Reform Law
Healthcare in a Bundle People getting taxed on their hard earned money may be going to people
who need it or to those who do not. The Healthcare reform law is not a reasonable solution for
people who cannot afford or do not have private health insurance. The healthcare reform law has
been the center of a heated debate for some time now within the House and the Senate. The Obama
administration has been pushing healthcare reform since its beginnings in 2008 and has finally
pushed the law through Congress. This was a difficult process simply because some of the
members of Congress wanted the Supreme Court to judge if the healthcare law was constitutional.
The Supreme Court however did not side with these members of Congress. They ruled... Show

Such as how it might cost a person with insurance a $100 or more to get a checkup. The reason
this was so was simply so the hospital could cover for people who did not have insurance or
could not afford it. Now since the healthcare reform law has been passed and people will now all
be eligible for insurance whether if they can afford it or not. These high prices on checkups and
other things at the doctor would seem to be no longer needed since everyone will have
insurance. In that case how is it certain that doctor s previous incomes will remain the same
throughout this change? Will the new insurance policies still cover the prices that doctors
previously charged for their services? This is not known yet and still remains a big question as
to if doctors will make the same as they did before the healthcare reform law. Another big issue
with the new healthcare reform law is that it is given in the form of a tax. Many people are fine
with their money going to help people who cannot find work or Alexander 4 cannot work at all.
There are many people however that most people do not want their money going to. These people
are the type who may abuse the system and live off of it without trying to find work. However, the
affirmative side has some counterarguments for the reasons why the concerns listed above are
invalid. The opposing side may say that the healthcare reform law does not hurt states rights
because it still gives states the

The Effects of Society in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway...
Society is a constant changing idea, whether that change be from region to region or a period of
time. People move through it without thinking what they really are doing. Often they do not
realize how much pressure society places on one s being. It is the basis of how a person forms
their opinions, beliefs, and morals. The structure of behavior rests in the society one is raised in.
People s acceptance of one another and a desire to conform create a world where people are
struggling to fit in. VirginiaWoolfsees this.
Woolf views society as a center for conflict for the characters in her novel. They struggle with the
internal dilemma of whether they should be who they want to be or what everyone else wants them
to be. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Septimus is afraid that if he allows any emotion to penetrate him, whether that be joy or sorrow,
then he will be forced to deal with the loss of his friend. As Emily Jensen states, war cuts short
Septimus s first feelings for Evans, and because he does not understand the meaning of that
relationship, he participates in what becomes a frustration of his ability to feel at all. (426) The
idea that Jensen describes is an example of why Septimus refuses to feel any emotion. The
frustration comes from the moment when Evans was killed and Septimus felt nothing. This is
found when Woolf says:
...when Evans was killed, just before Armistice, in Italy, Septimus, far from showing any emotion
or recognizing that here was the end of a friendship congratulated himself upon feeling very little
and very reasonably. The War had taught him. It was sublime. He had gone through the whole
show, friendship, European War, death, had won promotion, was still under thirty and was bound to
survive. He was right there. The last shells missed him. He watched them explode with indifference.
(130)
When Septimus does not feel anything when watching his friend die, he retracts himself from not
only his own feelings but also the feelings of everyone else. A fear of acceptance of Evan s death
is what pushed Septimus to create a world where there is no feeling whatsoever. As Molly Hoff
stated, Septimus is irredeemably alone, because he has completely shut himself

Gun Violence Good Or Bad
When I was a young boy I grew up in a family that provided a very gun friendly environment for I
was tough respect for gun, and grew very interested in every aspect of guns. Up until the 3rd

said I probably shouldn t talk or draw any have to deal with gun. So I kept my mouth shut for a
little while, and looking back on it I can t help but think how far is to far before you it become

George Romero Revolutionize The Film Analysis
How did George Romero Revolutionize the Film Industry?
Described by The Los Angeles Times as the father of the zombie movie (INTEXT CITE) George
Romero is an American Canadian filmmaker who is most known for reinventing the genre of
zombie movies and evolving the concept of zombies. After spending many years working on
television commercials, Romero sought to create a film. Romero was given a low production
budget of $114,000, Eight years later, Romero released the film Night of the Living Dead. It was
one of the first movies of its kind; it featured a new idea of zombies. Prior to Romero, zombies
were not used often in movies and were portrayed much differently. The evolved concept of
zombies was new to the filmmaking industry and brought lots of popularity to the film, which soon
became a classic in the horror movie industry. Romero was not trusted and given a very low
production budget, he revolutionized the horror film industry by developing a new concept of
zombies and reinventing the genre of zombie movies.
In 1968, filmmaker George Romero released his first major film called, Night of the Living
Dead. The film presented Romero s evolved concept of zombies. The film s opening scene begins
with a brother and sister being attacked by a man stumbling around the cemetery. This scene was
the first time a modern zombie was revealed. The brother, Johnny, is attacked and killed by the
zombie, while the sister, Barbra, scarcely escapes and runs to the closest shelter, which

Concepts of Communication
We all have one life to live. In this life we teach things to others, but we also learn things from
others. We communicate in one way or another to get across with our purpose whatever it might be.
We all have our own communication style, way to listen, communication apprehension, and our
way to resolve conflict. Therefore, I will elaborate in those concepts with my own personal
experience and understanding about them.
There are four different styles of communication private, dominant, sociable, and open. After
taking a style survey I was surprise to know I belong to the open style communication. Open style
is a person that response back other s messages, conversations regarding to their opinions. This type
of person shares information, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once you have understood the process of an effective listener you discover the value and
motives of the people around you. After following those procedures you will notice that your
relationship towards others gets better. When we listen with attention we can learn from others
mistakes or success. Another benefit of effective listener is to relate information with things we
normally do or use, so that later one can review it and remember it. Now, is always easier to
listen, and talk personally with someone. However, when it comes to be on stage the problem
begins, this is communication apprehension. Stage fright begins before we even step up in stage.
I sometimes can t say my words and my hands shake because I am nervous. I react like that when
presenting in front of lot of people. I get nervous also because I think they think negatively about
my presentation. Yet, I combated nervousness by breathing deep before going to the front. When I
was taking speech 1311, and I had to present I will breathe deeply to combat mu nervousness. I
also stretch my hands to break the feeling of nervousness. I usually do this when I get nervous
singing at the church I go to. And last but not lease, I think that I might not be the only one feeling
that way because the others are also going to present and might feel just like me. The last concept
is conflict resolution style. I usually like to make sure that everyone feels

The Truth About the Music Industry Essay
Music is universally known as an expression of emotion, rebellion against the man, a way of life, a
random collection of sounds, an annoying thing kids listen to, or even a vacation from everything,
but in reality music is free of all definition. The industry involved in buying, selling and recording
of music has grown so old, treacherous, and ignorant that it can not figure out the steps it needs to
evolve with the rapidly expanding music industry. Musicians and fans alike are screaming about the
dire need of some modern day innovation in the market. Sadly the monstrous corporations that
dominate the market have put a lid on the competitive edge, stopped the innovative changes any
smaller companies can make.
There are only three major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a band we have done some research of studio time and what it costs to have a record
published and sold in stores. I understand that music is hard to make a living off of because its
hard enough to just pay for the things your band needs and that record labels lose a lot of money
in trying to finance an album that has such a high chance of failure. But major Record labels are
creating a monopoly of the music industry which limits the innovation and advancement other
minor labels or musicians could provide by taking away competition. The market is dominated by
the Big Three (Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group) who continuously buy out
competition and all have many smaller companies who have front names to cover up the fact
that they are owned by the larger corporation. Ten years ago there were five major companies
that controlled the market place, in the beginning of 2005 Sony and BMG, Bertelsmann Music
Group, decided to form a 50/50 partnership that would spread worldwide. Together they
controlled a vast majority of American music and the only place in the world that was not apart
of this corporation was Japan because the business would be affected too much. Then in 2008
BMG announced that they were not going to renew the contract because of falling sales which
would have been really bad for Sony financially, so they decided to buy BM s portion of the
company for 1.2 billion, which included all of BMG s record

Bullying At A Young Age
Have you ever been called a nasty name? Or even made fun because of your hair, or even your
clothes? Or have you have made fun of someone because of their hair or clothes? Bullying is
something that is active across the world, and it doesn t just happen in schools, it can happen
anywhere at any time to anyone. We can all always do our best to prevent it but the outcome is
very low.
Statistics show that between the ages of 5 and 7 is when bullying is very hot. In the article Bullying
at a young age it states that between these ages is when children are maturing and starting to
realize new things about others children do not intend to pick on one another they just simply
do don t know how to be polite about the situation. When bullying is in action most of the time
other tend to believe the parents are not connected with their children as much as they should be.
Sometimes a person begins to bully others because of their situation and lifestyle at home. We all
know things at home can sometimes get a little out of hand, in all families. A child may come
from a single parent home or their parents may have just recently split up. In other instances, a
person may live in a poor neighborhood and their parents or guardians may not be handling the
responsibility of being a parent in a way that they should. The most popular reason for a bully to
start bullying in the first place usually is a cry for help.

Detection Of P And T
Detection of P and T Waves in ECG Signal
Abstract Electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis plays vital role in diagnosis of heart diseases. In order
to avoid erroneous conclusions, it is of utmost importance that all the features of ECG waveform
are extracted accurately and only sinus rhythms are present in the ECG Signal. Significant features
of the ECG include the P wave, the QRS Complex, and the T wave. Determining the position of P
wave and T wave is a complicated task due to low amplitude. In this paper simple Low pass
differentiation (LPD) based method is proposed for estimation of P and T wave. Locating all the
features accurately is essential for the performance of other ECG processing such as signal
Analysis, Diagnosis, Authentication and Identification. Performance evaluation of this algorithm is
done on recorded ECG signals by holter recorder and MIT BIH database. Validation of proposed
algorithm indicates that it performs satisfactorily with approximate accuracy of 92.46 %.
Keywords: ECG, P wave, T wave, QRS Complex, Digital Filter.
I. INTRODUCTION
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is an important tool for providing information about functional
status of the heart. Analysis of ECG is of great importance in the detection of cardiac
abnormalities. The ECG is characterized by a recurrent wave sequence of P, QRS and T wave
associated with each beat. The QRS complex is the most striking waveform, caused by ventricular
depolarization and atrial repolarization of the human

Analysis Of Jhumpa Lahiri s Novel The Namesake
Jhumpa Lahiri s novel The Namesake (2003) is a culture oriented, more precisely, a Bengali
diasporic culture oriented novel. As a diasporic novel it represents the diasporic themes like
displaced, dislocated and deterritorised feelings of the first generation expatriates like Ashima
Ganguli, the female protagonist of the novel; assimilated, translational and transcultural tendency
among the diasporic people, especially among the second generation immigrants in the novel like
Gogol Ganguli, Sonali Ganguli and Moushumi Mazoomdar; a feeling of nostalgia towards the
natal/imaginary homeland by the first generation expatriates like Ashima Ganguli; the
community feeling among the diasporic people; the familial, human relationships within a
diasporic family in a diasporic land and other traits. Ashima Ganguli is moored in diasporic land
with her feelings of rootlessness/uprooting/re rooting/tracking root and also finds routes to
discover her at home in many homes in the world. The Bengali diasporic cultures are
amalgamated dexterously in the texture of the novel. Lahiri s The Namesake was adapted as a

The Marriage Between Elizabeth And Mrs. Darcy
The eventual marriage between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice comes as a result
of their profound personal rediscoveries. Initially, a slew of misunderstandings between the two
characters, stemming from their first encounter at a ball in Meryton, had plagued the relationship,
nearly rendering it irreconcilable. They both left that first ball with wildly different interpretations
of each other s intentions; Darcy s refusal to dance with Elizabeth instilled her with a budding
resentment that would distort her judgement of him until mid way through the novel, while the
former character, assured by his pride, viewed her disposition as flirtatious in nature. These
conflicting perspectives put them both at cross purposes, but neither realizes this truth until they
each embark on a personal journey of self discovery; Elizabeth and Darcy s subsequent realizations
better them both, and renders the pair romantically compatible. Elizabeth and Darcy s meeting at
Pemberley, the latter character s home, allows the two to showcase their newly transformed
personas without the cloud of prejudice. Upon their arrival, Mrs. Reynolds, the housekeeper, greets
Elizabeth and her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners. While touring them around the estate, she praises
Darcy, describing him as generous, good natured, and protective of his sister; these unequivocal
words help to increase Elizabeth s regard for him as a person. Darcy eventually arrives, and reveals
his transformation through his

Psychological Perspectives On Studying Juvenile...
This essay will compare and contrast some psychological and sociological approaches to
studying juvenile delinquency and disorder behaviour. The question is what makes people
behave disorderly. Youth disorderly behaviours are studied using different approaches including
psychological and sociological approaches. Both psychological and sociological approaches to
studying juvenile delinquency are necessary. This essay starts with outlining and defining
disorderly behaviour and juvenile delinquency. Then, it will look at the work of Eysenck, the
Cambridge Study of Delinquent Development research which was a longitude study and the
Integrated Cognitive Antisocial Potential theory by Farrington, all fit in psychological approach;
studying the connection between personality and disorder. It will then look at Sociological
approach by looking at the work of Howard Becker, Stan Cohen and Stuart Hall. This essay will
be analysing and comparing their theories and separating the differences and noting the
similarities in their ideas. This essay will provide evidence for each theory. It will then conclude
by specifying significant similarities and differences in the light of the evidence presented.
Disorderly behaviour is any behaviour that does not conform to generally accepted social or
cultural norms and expectations. (Havard and Clarke, 2014, p. 249). Disorderly behaviour in

The Health Care System Of The United States As A Whole Essay
The primary focus of this article was to inform its readers of the multiple aspects of the health
care system in the United States as a whole. Within this article, the subjects of health care that are
reviewed are a) the US government s position as the insurer for roughly 60 percent of the
healthcare spending in the US via the public sector, b) the analysis of the funding for government
health care programs such as Medicare, Medicall, and Medicaid and c) the programs in place for
the health care of children and program administration for war veterans. The author discusses health
care policy being at the forefront of world economics and modern medical science as it sets in
motion governing policies and procedure associated with the financial funding and pharmaceutical
appropriation of health care insurance. In the article, Totic presents the notion of health policyin the
US and abroad as an irrefutable necessity as well as for health policies to be simple and in many
ways effective when it came to proper execution of health procedures and proper distribution of
both health information and other resources used in the health care setting. The author expresses
the goal of an effective health care policy as one that ultimately governs and helps maintain the

Executive Summary This study compares the I/O functionalities such as data structures, algorithms
and cryptograpy between Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD. Most importantly, the data structures
used in block and character devices for Windows and FreeBSD are also compared against those of
Linux operating system. With respect to I/O operations, this study specifically examines the
different types of devices, I/O scheduling, and so forth, and compares their implementation in
Windows and FreeBSD versus Linux.
Introduction
Generally, computer components are two fold, namely hardware and software components. The
hardware requires an operating system (OS) to manage and coordinate its software resources as
well as provide services for computer application programs [4]. Application programs that run in
a computer require an OS. In essense, the OS acts as a central host that handles hardware
operation details [4]. All computers are run by an OS of some type. Some of the most popular
OS versions in the market are Linux, Windows and FreeBSD [1]. Linux is an open source
development and free software whose source code can be freely used, redistributed and
modified by third party OS developers. The range of Windows Operating Systems are created by
Microsoft Corporation. Unlike Linux, Windows consists of proprietary closed sources [5].
FreeBSD is an advanced version of OS and runs on modern desktops, servers and

Reflective Essay On Yoga
What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it
will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as
a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it
keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga
instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what
would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or
master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the
Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax,
Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of
yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but
actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why
she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India
when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that
culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing
yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and

Essay on Settlement of the West
The existence of an area of free land, its continuous recession, and the advance of American
settlement westward explains American development . (PBS n.d.) By saying this Frederick Jackson
Turner helped increase critical thinking about the west and helped historians understand the causes
and affects it produced in the United Statesnow and back then. The settling of the west was a great
significance in the United States culture as well as characteristics. The settlement of the west was a
huge movement after the American Civil War. Greatly due to the fact that in 1862 the Homestead

With the vast amounts of cultivation and trade progressing in the west many settlements managed
to form into permanent towns with the help of steady trade that helped the residents economically.
Trade was supported by the growth of the railroad that helped with the import and export of goods
and animals. In The Significance of the Frontier in American History (shvoong n.d.) Frederick
Turner makes a point in saying that the settlement of the west had created a different race in
America. In that the way of life was different and caused many people to adapt to their surroundings
and mentally perceive lifestyles different than their counterparts on the eastern seaboard. The
settlement of the west laid the foundations for the current day United States. With the diminishing
amounts of Native Americans their way of life and culture was crushed by Americans. Currently
the amounts of remaining people with Native American backgrounds have diminished significantly
because of the past incidents. Settling in the west many times was filled with trial and error, not
all towns being able to progress. Large cities such as Las Vegas, Nevada show the roots of what the
once small town thrived from, this one specifically being from gambling and prostitution. Myths
helped make the west seem more enticing by convincing the common man that he could finally
become the man he has always wanted to be. The settlement of any land is

The Problem Of Computer Network Security
Introduction
Computer network security has never been as critical as it is today. The news is littered with the
widespread incidents of hacking and cyber theft in the financial, entertainment, and retail
industries, and more recently in our military. A recent survey, conducted by Kaspersky Lab, a
leader in endpoint protection solutions, found that 94% of all companies surveyed experienced a
cyber security issue (Kaspersky Lab, 2014). Furthermore, a recent study has found that the
average cost of a data breach to a company was $3.5 million, a 15% increase from the previous
year (Ponemon Institute, 2014). In this day and age, the cost of a data breach, not only to a
company s bottom line, but to their reputation, would be extensive.
Statement of the Problem
Recently, Acme Corporation experienced a network compromise which resulted in the possible
compromise of the personally identifiable information (PII) of their employees and clients. As a
start up company, many technological issues were overlooked in the interest of getting the business
off the ground. Significant emphasis was placed on acquiring the most up to date and cutting edge
hardware and software, unfortunately, only mediocre consideration was placed on network
security. This report will examine the factors that contributed to vulnerability and will identify the
solutions that must be undertaken to secure the company network and protect it against future
cyber attacks.

The Last Day of Humanity
Prologue Purpose. The very word seems to carry with it the weight of progress, of advancement, of
humanity. It is the fire that has burned in man s heart since the dawn of civilization; a cunning
tactician smiling to himself as humanity wins its battles. Purpose has driven us from the first fire to
the final frontier; it is the father of civilization. Humanity advanced, quickly. With basic survival
and a functioning society fulfilled, civilization sped up. Distances became shorter, entertainment
became quicker, and life became busy. With life moving quickly, man lost time to think. And
without thought to fuel it, purpose became sparse and unfulfilled. Mankind, in their vanity, began
to attempt to eradicate the need for purpose. Society became shallow. It pressed upon its youth, its
future, mindless norms disguised as purpose. College, careers, and retirements were laid out ahead
of them, whereupon the latest generation began to goose step into misery. Before long, midlife
crises began to arise at ages as early as 16, a harrowing thought. Absent among all this anguish was
purpose; 401(k) s would not bring meaning to one s life, nor would a management level position in
a startup on the rise. Life was no longer about the means, but rather the ends. Consequently, joy
became not an experience, but a material. A product, bought and sold in numerous markets,

Unit 64 Case Study
There is a standard 8 by 8 checkerboard made up of 64 squares. These squares can be made of
other squares within the checkerboard. How many squares of various sizes are there? Also,
how many squares can be in any sized checkerboard (e.g. 9 by 9 checkerboard). There are many
steps to figure out the problem. First, I figured out how many squares there were in the
checkerboard squares which was 64.(Green should explain how you got 64.) To find 64 I simply
looked at the top of the square and added the squares up to get 8, and I did the same exact thing to
the side of the square and got 8 then I multiplied them to get 64 squares.. Then, I counted the
squares along the side and the top and bottom to find one size.(Did you use paperrater.com? You

Throughout history, the states and the national government...
Throughout history, the states and the national government have dynamic and constantly changing
powers in the Constitution. The switch from dual federalism in which the national government and
the states have their own distinct powers and responsibilities to cooperative federalism in which the
national government and the states share power and responsibilities amongst each other, have taken
play during the Great Depressions in the United States. The Constitution defines the roles that the
national government and the states have, but interpretations of the responsibilities and relationships
between them have changed over time. In addition, the Tenth Amendment stated the limited powers
of the federal government and whatever power not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of the legalization of medical marijuana in certain states, the Obama Administration
favored the states in which if an individual follows the state laws, the individual will not be
prosecuted. This violated the Supremacy clause that puts the federal government as the supreme
and dominates over the state laws since the use of medical marijuana was legalized in 18 states
and the District of Columbia even though the federal law states that marijuana is an illegal drug.
Another example of the supremacy clause based on the idea of implied preemption is the Wyeth
verse Levine (2009) case. Diane Levine suffered a migraine headache and was treated with
Phenergan. A physician s assistant of Wyeth pharmaceutical company administered the drug
through an IV push, which was not stated as danger on the label. The injection of the drug hit the
artery instead of the intended vein, which caused Levine to amputate most of her arm. This caused
for Levine to sue Wyeth in Vermont Superior Court since she felt that it was their responsibility
due to their negligence and unawareness of informing the patient. On the other hand, Wyeth
believes that since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the label and the IV push
method was not declared as forbidden, then they should not be liable for the damages caused. The
Vermont Superior Court ruled in favor of Levine since Wyeth could have added more warnings to
the label

Examples Of Regional Autonomy Law Of Indonesia
Indonesia has adopted the regional autonomy law since 1999, putting it from one of the most
centralised to one of the most decentralised countries. Under this scheme, local governments have
the right, authority, and duties to set up and manage their own affairs and interests of local
communities. This law expressly states what has been said as absolute affairs of central
governments, comprising foreign policy; defense and security; judicial; national monetary and
fiscal; and religion. In the other words, local governments have the right, authority, and duties in all
sectors except otherwise classified as absolute affairs. This law also adopts what has been said as
concurrent affairs, meaning that both the central governments and... Show more content on

Fadliya and McLeod (2010) showed how local governments had passed laws only to raise revenue
(such as taxes and user charges) instead of pursuing social justice targets in Indonesia. Finally,
Nasution (2016) explained that the decision making process was more difficult in the era of
regional autonomy because the interest of conflicting parties and districts must be accommodated.
The above reality of regional autonomy provides an important insight for this thesis. Specifically,
the local laws might fail to prevent or restore the environmental damages as a result from FDI in
tourism. In the regional autonomy, local governments in Bali have wider rights and authorities
through laws and policies in order to manage their own affairs. This fact, however, is not always
beneficial. The laws and policies could overlap or even contradict with the central government s
laws and policies, affecting the government s effectiveness to realise its goals, especially in
anticipating and controlling the impact of FDI in tourism on the environment.
The shortcomings of regional autonomy have affected the environmental governance. Giovanna,
Leitmann and Mackay (2006) identified that local governments had interpreted environmental
standards to suit their own needs, for instance, when they supervised the implementation of the
EIA. Sakumoto (2007) then pointed out how the decentralisation had accelerated

Struggling with Greed in John Steinbeck’s The Pearl Essay
The Pearl written by John Steinbeck is a parable, a story that teaches a moral lesson. The focus of
this novel is on a poor Indian family. The family consists of three members: Kino, a husband,
father, and fisherman, Juana, his wife and loving mother; and Coyotito their infant son. This
indigent family lives in a small brush hut along the Gulf of Mexico by the town of La Paz. One
day Coyotito, is bitten by a scorpion; a scorpion sting can be deadly to a baby. Kino and Juana are
very worried over the health of their baby; therefore, they hope to find a pearl worthy enough for
the doctor s payment to the doctor to treat Coyotito. With luck on their side, Kino finds a pearl the
size of a seagull s egg; he calls it The Pearlof the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No, they never have any money. I, I alone in the world I am supposed to work for nothing and I am
tired of it. See if he has any money! (11)
With these words, Steinbeck tries to show how greedy the doctor is and how he will not help a
young defenseless baby from death just because they are poor Indians, who have nothing of
value to pay him for his services. The doctor s words and actions clearly illustrates humanity s
struggle with greed. Another example of greed is shown when Juana takes the pearl from Kino
to throw back into the sea. Kino realizes what she is doing and goes after her. Just as Juana is
about to discard the pearl, Kino grabs her arm and wrenches the pearl from her. He punches her
in the face and when she falls on the boulders, he kicks her in the side. The following quote
establishes the violence that Kino unleases on his wife in order to protect his precious pearl from
harm, due to his greediness of what the pearl will bring to him and his family: ...Rage surged in
Kino. He leaped at Juana and wrenched the pearl from her...with clenched fists, struck her in the
face...kicked her in the side...Greedy fingers went through his clothes (58 59).
This quote shows the greed in Kino is getting greater and greater. The reader can tell this because
Kino is willing to hurt the person who he loves the most, and who loves him the most, just to
keep his pearl safe. The final example of greed Kino portrays is when he is willing to kill the

The Haunting Of Hill House Essay
The Necessity of a Gothic setting
In a gothic novel or story, the setting is exclusive to the plot. If a gothic story doesn t have a
perfect setting, the plot will not be as exciting to the reader. The setting needs to have dark
elements, horrifying twists, and turns to drive the story. In The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley
Jackson, Jackson exemplifies how a setting should be in a gothic novel. She uses modern
psychology and old ghost stories. These elements entice the reader to ponder what is real and what
is not.
When you combine the nature of the characters in Hill House and then compare them to the events
taking place in the house (blood on the clothes, blood on/in the walls, mysterious voices calling out
and children laughing) , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader experiences this emotion while reading. Hill House gives off these feelings because
of all the deaths that have happened there. Many young people died in Hill House. The tomb in
Hill House has a cold spot. If you put your hand there for a second it will become numb. This
was shown in the story when Luke tested the cold spot with his hand, Luke, inside the nursery
doorway, could hold one end of the tape until his hand came into the cold spot, and then his
fingers lost strength and relaxed helplessly. Another part that adds to the uneasiness of the house
is Hugh Crain. No one knows what happened to him. The book says he turns into a recluse.
Reading into this detail, does that mean he turns into the house and becomes a part of the house?
Jackson doesn t tell the reader that. Hugh Crain s tragedy definitely adds to the emptiness and
sadness of the house. The same can be said when Eleanor meets her end. As a characterof the story
her life was empty and meaningless. She was always told what to do and what not to do. Eleanor
was an innocent. So naturally when she died it was tragic and sad. She also seemed to become a

William Wordsworth s Analysis Of I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
The poem was written in the year 1802. It was first published in Poems in Two Volumes, in
1807. The very starting line of the poem I wandered lonely as a cloud informs the poet s
profound sentiments of being left alone. It was actually the death of his brother John that led him
to loneliness . We should remind the readers that this poem was not a result of imagination.
Dorothy, Wordsworth s sister provides us an explanation of the occasion which inspired
Wordsworth to produce this masterpiece:
When we were in the woods beyond Gowbarrow Park, we saw a few daffodils close to
waterside. Thus the poem is a result of actual visualization rather than imagery .

Wordsworth may be at discomfort in human multitude but not amidst the objects (crowd) of
Nature. Nature permeates the entire poem. Phrases like a crowd, a host, continuous as the stars,
they stretched in never ending lines, ten thousands saw eye at a glance presents deep
implications. The poet says: I wondered lonely as a cloud that floats on the high o er Wales and
hills. Daffodils, an everyday found flower has been portrayed in magical verses and blended with
transcendental romanticism. Even the daffodils outdid the sparkling waves in glee and left an
everlasting mark in the mind of the readers of this poem.

Comparative Study Of India And India Essay
Nevertheless population size increased an interesting fact that comes in limelight is that India holds
the maximum working population as compared to any country in the world making it one of the
highest potential bearing country to economic growth and development and ruling the world. This
gives rise to possibly two mainstream targets which India should focus on:
пЃ¶To reap the demographic dividends from the demographic transitions phase it has entered into,
where the fertility rate and death rate are diminishing. This can be done by tapping the potential
working population and converting them into productive assets by rightful shower of opportunities.
пЃ¶Second, to control the population i.e., reduce the size of dependent population (specifically
children) so that the increase in national output does not get neutralize by the increase in
expenditure over the non working population. For this effective measures should be taken by
government in form of stringent laws so that population stability is achieved sooner.

Love And Death Be Not Proud By Anne Bradstreet
Love and death is very meaningful to humans. Love and death are eternal, above and beyond
physical entities, and extremely powerful . The poems Death be not proud, by E.E. Cummings,
and To My Dear and Loving Husband, by Anne Bradstreet, are poems that explain love or death.
The poems are very similar despite one being about loveand the other being about death. Death and
love are very comparable despite their obvious differences. Love creates a pleasant image, while
death creates an eerie image. Despite the images having the opposite emotions, the meanings behind
the words are very similar.. Love and death create a deeper meaning than humans can comprehend.
Love and death are comparable, because they both are eternal and can go on forever. The entities

Everyday, love and death control the way people act. They affect the way people will always
make decisions, In the poem by Donne, he states. Death be not proud, though some have called
thee / Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so (1 2). This means that some people believe that
death is very powerful and also scary. Death being scary makes death so powerful. People are
scared of the consequences of dying and try to avoid dying everyday. Death is more feared than
loved is, but people make irrational decisions for love. Likewise, love is very powerful. In the
poem by Bradstreet, she states that, If two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by
a wife, then thee (1 2). This explains that Bradstreet s love for her husband is powerful and that
they are like one. She states that she loves him as much as a woman can love a man. This
demonstrates how mighty love by saying that she will do anything for her husband. Love and
death are so powerful that they change people thought and even their ways of life. Love and death

Write An Essay On Cataracts In Children
Cataracts are an eye condition that results in the clouding of the lens that distorts or makes one

A Research On Electric Vehicle Policy
For this paper, I examined literature written about electric vehicle policy, specifically those articles
with a focus on current issues related to vehicle assimilation into our electrical grid. It s an exciting
time to research the state of electric vehicle policy, with so much new technology coming to the
market so quickly, and still so many unknowns about how it will all operate efficiently within our
current system. I have grouped the literature into two main categories for purposes of this paper:
Encouraging EV Adoption and Charging Infrastructure
Encouraging EV Adoption
One variable that will impact private and public investment in the EV space is obviously the
infiltration of electric vehicles during the next decade. In other words, how many EVs will be
purchased, replacing gas cars that are currently on our roads and highways. Understanding the
speed of adoption and consumer acceptance rates for this new way of traveling is important for
U.S. policy and planning purposes. Determining and understanding the causes of EV adoption and
correlating that to estimates of future technology adoption rates requires application of statistical
modeling methods. Baha Al Alawi and Thomas Bradley provide a comprehensive summary of EV
market saturation in their 2013 report entitled Review of Hybrid, Plug In Hybrid, and Electric
VehicleMarket Modeling Studies (Al Alawi et al. 2013).

A Paper On Tattoo Culture
Maddie Edwards
Humorous Discourse
Foundations Paper
Tattoo Culture When defining a term it first has to be understood, which is why American studies
can be incredibly difficult to define. Although using different ways of studying popular culture, in
this case tattoo culture, a better understanding of American studies can be formed. Specifically by
using the ideas of researching context to understand the time and surrounding area, self reflexivity
to understand how oneself is affected by this, and studying how the material and visual cultures of
everyday lives. Tattoos are one of these forms of popular culture, and the culture surrounding tattoos
exemplifies many of the characteristics of American Studies. When studying tattoo culture context
is significantly important, because a majority of the time this art form means something to the
individual. As Nash Smith discusses literary analysis only gives us part of the information that is
necessary in understanding where ideas stem from and how they became relevant. He also talks
about how the informations gathered from these sources needs to be interpreted in the light of a
thorough knowledge of class structure, of the stratification of taste according to levels of
sophistication, and of the different audiences in which different magazines and publishing houses
addressed themselves. 1 While tattoos are not regulated by publishing houses and different
magazines it is still helpful to interrupt them based on the environment.

Breaking Stereotypes
Stereotypes are prevailing and oversimplified ideas of particular groups of people or certain things,
and they have been around for a long time. Stereotypes are immensely detrimental to a myriad of
people because they abject and discriminate them, as well as cause division and separation amongst
certain communities. Breaking stereotypesis important due to the social climate that we are
currently in today. Racism and discrimination are ubiquitous because people of colour are painted
in a negative light due to the stereotypes they are given.
Stereotypes are harmful for many reasons; one being that gender stereotypes, specifically, objectify
and are demeaning to women (or anyone who identifies as a female). In my Stereotype Student

Making connections. New York: Penguin Books pp. 80 100.
In the reading by Daniel Goleman, the six different type of leadership are described, and defined.
The writer states the different types are Coercive, Authoritative, Affiliative, Democratic,
Pacesetting, and Coaching (Goleman, 2000). Coercive leaders demand immediate compliance.
Authoritative leaders mobilize people toward a vision. Affiliative leaders create emotional bonds,
and harmony. Democratic leaders build consensus through participation. Pacesetting leaders expect
excellence and self direction, and coaching leaders develop people for the future, (Goleman, 2000).
The reading state out of the six, Authoritative leadership is the type which has the most positive

Importance Of Guns And The Right To Carry Guns
Guns and the right to carry them is such a debatable topic in today s society. So many different
people have their opinions on how people should use their guns or where they can and can t
carry them. They have this misconception that guns are such a big problem and that they kill
people, but in reality guns are not the problem at all it is the people holding them. Even though
guns can be dangerous, guns are used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is
something that has very precise steps to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least
21 years of age. If for some reason you are ineligible to purchase a firearmthen you are no longer
able to get the permit to conceal a handgun. A person that has been convicted of a violent
misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will be rejected if applied for a conceal
carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to be able to conceal a handgun.
After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant the court may require
proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This includes: completion
of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia Gun Laws). Also a
lot more goes into it. Many choose to conceal carry instead of open carry for a couple of different
reasons. When you conceal a handgun nobody knows you have the gun. If a criminal comes to rob
a gas station that you are in and sees a handgun on your hip

Ells Self Assessment
4.c.4. Prepare ELLs to use self and peer assessment techniques when appropriate. The artifacts
reveal the use of self assessments and peer assessment in a classroom environment. The use of self
and peer assessment allows the students to place responsibility upon themselves. This artifact is
documentation of a lesson taught during my two week internship in Alabaster City Schools. The
internship was with an ESL Summer Camp, pertaining to third grade students. This artifact portrays
the ability of students to self and peer assess during learningactivities. Self assessment is more
accurately defined as a process by which students 1) monitor and evaluate the quality of their
thinking and behavior when learning and 2) identify strategies that improve their understanding and
skills (McMillian and Hearn, 2008). This particular activity was part of a larger learning target....

Blockade Of Virginia Essay
On the morning of march 8 1862 the confederate ironclad CSS. Virginia steamed out of its port at
Norfolk Virginia and towards the union blockade. The goal of the Virginia s commander
Franklin Buchanan was to break the blockade of Norfolk Harbor which held one of the largest
naval bases in the Americas. At about 2 pm she spotted the USS Cumberland. Buchanan ordered
the ship to ram the Cumberland with its 1500 pound ram which lodged itself in the cumberlands
bow completely shredding it s hull. The cumberland began to sink rapidly with the virginia still
logged in its bow. The Virginia managed to pull herself free but in the process the iron ram
broke off and sank. Not knowing this the nearby USS congress a nearby frigate attempted to take
the fight to shallow water but in the process ran herself aground. The now helpless congress came
under fire from the virginia s 9 inch guns which ripped the frigate apart. The congress then raised
a white flag and the Virginias captain came above deck to accept but a musket ball from shore hit
him in the arm. The now angry Captain Buchanan ordered the Virginia to fire anti crew shots at the
now barely afloat Congress. At around 4pm on march 8 the Virginia which was low on ammunition.

The ham agar plate grows the most bacterial colonies because this food has the most moisture.
Germs like living in moisture and this is why the test could not be done on a normal tiled floor
but instead had to be done with artificially covered surfaces. It also makes sense that germs
would stick to a food that was wet instead of a food that was dry. Cheese had the second most
bacterial colonies, and we could say this could be because of it being the second moistest food.
Lastly, was the chip. The chip got less bacterial colonies because it had no moisture what so
ever. The difference in the lowest and the highest on the ham varied widely from the lowest and
the highest on the chip. The lowest in the ham is 12 (ham on a bricked, or tiled surface) and the
highest is 25 (ham on a bricked surface) whereas the lowest for a chip is 9 (chip on a tiled
surface) and the highest is 15 which is a carpeted surface. The average amount of bacterial colonies
on the ham throughout the entire experiment is 16.83 whereas it is 12.08 on the chip showing that

Analysis Of The Old Nurse s Story
The Vivid, Realistic, 1080 HD Narration in The Old Nurse s Story There are two interesting
stories I would like to mention before I start. The first one is called Bisclavret written by Marie
de France. This is a story about a baron named Bisclavret who regularly turned into a werewolf,
was betrayed by his wife, but finally regained all his status and honor back by showing loyalty to
the king. The second story is a gothic literature named The Old Nurse s Story written by Elizabeth
Gaskell. This story is mainly about how the first personnarrator Miss Hester and her little Rosamand
strive to survive in the haunted mansion and how they get to know the secrets of the ghosts. In this
writing I will compare the two different narration... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a self contradiction that disturbs reader s concentration: the more detailed the story
becomes, the more suspicious it gets in terms of the how the narrator acquired the information.
What is worse, at the end of the story, the narrator emphasizes that the story is nothing but true,
arousing more suspicion and contradiction since the story also contains impractical materials and
cases like a werewolf and the werewolf turning back to a human being when it wears its clothes
back on, not only the excessive details that a third person narrator may not acquire in common
sense. Unlike this somewhat loose narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. Hester, in The Old
Nurse s Story does not have this kind of flaw, for she tells, with enough details, only what she
actually heard and saw as a participant in the story, leaving no room for the readers to doubt the
authenticity of the plot. When describing the surroundings of the Furnivall manor house, Hester
states Only in front of the house all was clear. The great oval drive was without a weed; and
neither tree nor creeper was allowed to grow over the long, many windowed front; at both sides
of which a wing projected, which were each the ends of other side fronts; for the house, although
it was so desolate, was even grander than I expected (2). Reading her narrations, a full view of the
grand manor house is automatically drawn inside my head. This kind

The, Cherokee, And The Chickasaw
In the early 1800 s, The United States and Spain had continuously argued with the Native people.
The Louisiana Territory was purchased from France in the year 1803, Americans continued to
push farther west for fertile land that could be used for farming. Due to overcrowding of eastern
cities like New York City and Boston many settlers moved out west for a new start. It allowed for
colonists to spread out and own untouched fertile land. When white settlers arrived they had
realized that most of the land acquired from the territory was occupied by Native Americans for
thousands of years. For decades Americans had thought that the land west of the Appalachian
Mountains were unoccupied, but they were wrong. There were many tribes that had occupied this
land. This included tribes like, The Choctaw, Cherokee, and The Chickasaw. In a sense, Americans
had violent outbreaks with the Natives the minute the colonists had arrived in the United State. As
the colonists tried to establish complete dominance and superiority over the Indians, ongoing heated
debates over land ownership, and demanding requests to satisfy greed made forceful attacks
between the groups unavoidable. To begin, many conflicts began to arise in the volatile relationship
between Native Americans and English Settlers and the Spanish government. Much of the conflicts
arose from a clash in cultures. For instance, Francisco Coronado stated that it was wrong for Native
Americans to believe in many gods because it was

Night Owls Research Paper
I know it seems easy to be late to class, but for some it s not. Some people were born morning
people and some were born night owls. Half of the night owls are able to get 3 4 hours of sleep and
still be in class on time and function like a normal person. The other half walk around looking
half dead or like zombies trying to figure out if they re even in the right class. This paper isn t about
the night owls who already know how to be late to class. This is for the people who just want to be
lazy one day and be late to class for the 1st time in their life.
The night before, you have to do the things a lazy person or night owl does. That mostly involves
doing things you know you shouldn t be doing, but doing them anyway because you never know ...

even skip the class all together. You then take a shower, eat breakfast and even drive or walk slow

minutes left. What now? You go hide in the bathroom until the bell ring. You go to the teacher of
the class you just missed and explain that it won t happen again and that you even have the
homework done. Due to this being the 1st class you ever missed, the teacher don t even care and
tell you not to worry about a thing. Who knew it was that easy?
Now that you have learned to not be in class on time (or at all), you will feel a little more at ease
about doing it in the future. Maybe you re the morning person who gets tired of being on a
constant schedule so you want to relax one night without having to worry about the early class in

Are Hacksaws As Productive As Band Saws
1.Does the force or torque in drilling change as the hole depth increases? Explain. How then, would
you then change the feeds and speeds as the hole depth increases?
Generally, as the hole depth increases, the force or torque in drilling also increases because as the
depth increases, the surface contact area will also increase which increases the required force to drill
the hole. Therefore, it increases the required torque. As the hole depth increase, the feed and speed
reduce because the drill experience higher stress as the depth increase compared to the stress at
shallow holes. These stresses caused torque to increase with the increasing chances of failure. So,
to compensate the chances of failure, the feeds and speed needed to be reduced. ... Show more

If inserts are used in a drill bit, the temperature of the inserts will be high so, the shank material is
very important to remove heat from inserts. Similarly, thermal expansion coefficients of insert and
shank material need to be matching to avoid any thermal stresses. The feed marks left on the work
piece are due to the relative motion between the milling cutter and work pieces.

Describe The Dark Ages
You ve probably heard about the big and scary Roman Empire, or the rise of the renaissance, but
it seems like most people don t notice that there were actually 1000 years in between those
historic events. Those who do know about it call this time period the Dark Ages because of its
lack of progression. This statement however is actually contrary to the truth; in fact there is
probably a lot of everyday things that wouldn t even be existent if the Dark Ages didn t happen.
In this essay we will learn about some of those things and why I believe the Dark Ages is an
inappropriate term used to describe this time period, that should instead be more commonly known
as the Middle Ages. Though media sources like The American Cyclopedia were interpreted in a
way which made the Dark Ages a bad thing; it wasn t intended to be that way. But instead it was
intended to mean that we didn t have a good grasp of what happened in that time period. Once
researchers learned about the things that happened during the Dark Ages they started referring them
to the Middle Ages to try and scrap the idea that there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Argument Against the Health Care Reform Law Healthcare in a Bundle People getting taxed on their hard earned money may be going to people who need it or to those who do not. The Healthcare reform law is not a reasonable solution for people who cannot afford or do not have private health insurance. The healthcare reform law has been the center of a heated debate for some time now within the House and the Senate. The Obama administration has been pushing healthcare reform since its beginnings in 2008 and has finally pushed the law through Congress. This was a difficult process simply because some of the members of Congress wanted the Supreme Court to judge if the healthcare law was constitutional. The Supreme Court however did not side with these members of Congress. They ruled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such as how it might cost a person with insurance a $100 or more to get a checkup. The reason this was so was simply so the hospital could cover for people who did not have insurance or could not afford it. Now since the healthcare reform law has been passed and people will now all be eligible for insurance whether if they can afford it or not. These high prices on checkups and other things at the doctor would seem to be no longer needed since everyone will have insurance. In that case how is it certain that doctor s previous incomes will remain the same throughout this change? Will the new insurance policies still cover the prices that doctors previously charged for their services? This is not known yet and still remains a big question as to if doctors will make the same as they did before the healthcare reform law. Another big issue with the new healthcare reform law is that it is given in the form of a tax. Many people are fine with their money going to help people who cannot find work or Alexander 4 cannot work at all. There are many people however that most people do not want their money going to. These people are the type who may abuse the system and live off of it without trying to find work. However, the affirmative side has some counterarguments for the reasons why the concerns listed above are invalid. The opposing side may say that the healthcare reform law does not hurt states rights because it still gives states the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effects of Society in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway... Society is a constant changing idea, whether that change be from region to region or a period of time. People move through it without thinking what they really are doing. Often they do not realize how much pressure society places on one s being. It is the basis of how a person forms their opinions, beliefs, and morals. The structure of behavior rests in the society one is raised in. People s acceptance of one another and a desire to conform create a world where people are struggling to fit in. VirginiaWoolfsees this. Woolf views society as a center for conflict for the characters in her novel. They struggle with the internal dilemma of whether they should be who they want to be or what everyone else wants them to be. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Septimus is afraid that if he allows any emotion to penetrate him, whether that be joy or sorrow, then he will be forced to deal with the loss of his friend. As Emily Jensen states, war cuts short Septimus s first feelings for Evans, and because he does not understand the meaning of that relationship, he participates in what becomes a frustration of his ability to feel at all. (426) The idea that Jensen describes is an example of why Septimus refuses to feel any emotion. The frustration comes from the moment when Evans was killed and Septimus felt nothing. This is found when Woolf says: ...when Evans was killed, just before Armistice, in Italy, Septimus, far from showing any emotion or recognizing that here was the end of a friendship congratulated himself upon feeling very little and very reasonably. The War had taught him. It was sublime. He had gone through the whole show, friendship, European War, death, had won promotion, was still under thirty and was bound to survive. He was right there. The last shells missed him. He watched them explode with indifference. (130) When Septimus does not feel anything when watching his friend die, he retracts himself from not only his own feelings but also the feelings of everyone else. A fear of acceptance of Evan s death is what pushed Septimus to create a world where there is no feeling whatsoever. As Molly Hoff stated, Septimus is irredeemably alone, because he has completely shut himself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Truth About the Music Industry Essay Music is universally known as an expression of emotion, rebellion against the man, a way of life, a random collection of sounds, an annoying thing kids listen to, or even a vacation from everything, but in reality music is free of all definition. The industry involved in buying, selling and recording of music has grown so old, treacherous, and ignorant that it can not figure out the steps it needs to evolve with the rapidly expanding music industry. Musicians and fans alike are screaming about the dire need of some modern day innovation in the market. I understand that music is hard to make a living off of because its hard enough to just pay for the things your band needs and that record labels lose a lot of money in trying to finance an album that has such a high chance of failure. But major Record labels are creating a monopoly of the music industry which limits the innovation and advancement other minor labels or musicians could provide by taking away competition. The market is dominated by the Big Three (Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group) who continuously buy out competition and all have many smaller companies who have front names to cover up the fact that they are owned by the larger corporation. Ten years ago there were five major companies that controlled the market place, in the beginning of 2005 Sony and BMG, Bertelsmann Music Group, decided to form a 50/50 partnership that would spread worldwide. Together they controlled a vast majority of American music and the only place in the world that was not apart of this corporation was Japan because the business would be affected too much. • 10. Detection Of P And T Detection of P and T Waves in ECG Signal Abstract Electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis plays vital role in diagnosis of heart diseases. In order to avoid erroneous conclusions, it is of utmost importance that all the features of ECG waveform are extracted accurately and only sinus rhythms are present in the ECG Signal. Significant features of the ECG include the P wave, the QRS Complex, and the T wave. Determining the position of P wave and T wave is a complicated task due to low amplitude. In this paper simple Low pass differentiation (LPD) based method is proposed for estimation of P and T wave. Locating all the features accurately is essential for the performance of other ECG processing such as signal Analysis, Diagnosis, Authentication and Identification. Performance evaluation of this algorithm is done on recorded ECG signals by holter recorder and MIT BIH database. Validation of proposed algorithm indicates that it performs satisfactorily with approximate accuracy of 92.46 %. Keywords: ECG, P wave, T wave, QRS Complex, Digital Filter. I. INTRODUCTION The electrocardiogram (ECG) is an important tool for providing information about functional status of the heart. • 13. The Marriage Between Elizabeth And Mrs. Darcy The eventual marriage between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice comes as a result of their profound personal rediscoveries. Initially, a slew of misunderstandings between the two characters, stemming from their first encounter at a ball in Meryton, had plagued the relationship, nearly rendering it irreconcilable. They both left that first ball with wildly different interpretations of each other s intentions; Darcy s refusal to dance with Elizabeth instilled her with a budding resentment that would distort her judgement of him until mid way through the novel, while the former character, assured by his pride, viewed her disposition as flirtatious in nature. These conflicting perspectives put them both at cross purposes, but neither realizes this truth until they each embark on a personal journey of self discovery; Elizabeth and Darcy s subsequent realizations better them both, and renders the pair romantically compatible. Elizabeth and Darcy s meeting at Pemberley, the latter character s home, allows the two to showcase their newly transformed personas without the cloud of prejudice. Upon their arrival, Mrs. Reynolds, the housekeeper, greets Elizabeth and her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners. Most importantly, the data structures used in block and character devices for Windows and FreeBSD are also compared against those of Linux operating system. With respect to I/O operations, this study specifically examines the different types of devices, I/O scheduling, and so forth, and compares their implementation in Windows and FreeBSD versus Linux. Introduction Generally, computer components are two fold, namely hardware and software components. The hardware requires an operating system (OS) to manage and coordinate its software resources as well as provide services for computer application programs [4]. Application programs that run in a computer require an OS. In essense, the OS acts as a central host that handles hardware operation details [4]. All computers are run by an OS of some type. Some of the most popular OS versions in the market are Linux, Windows and FreeBSD [1]. Linux is an open source development and free software whose source code can be freely used, redistributed and modified by third party OS developers. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that culture and it really interested her. The news is littered with the widespread incidents of hacking and cyber theft in the financial, entertainment, and retail industries, and more recently in our military. A recent survey, conducted by Kaspersky Lab, a leader in endpoint protection solutions, found that 94% of all companies surveyed experienced a cyber security issue (Kaspersky Lab, 2014). Furthermore, a recent study has found that the average cost of a data breach to a company was $3.5 million, a 15% increase from the previous year (Ponemon Institute, 2014). In this day and age, the cost of a data breach, not only to a company s bottom line, but to their reputation, would be extensive. Statement of the Problem Recently, Acme Corporation experienced a network compromise which resulted in the possible compromise of the personally identifiable information (PII) of their employees and clients. As a start up company, many technological issues were overlooked in the interest of getting the business off the ground. Significant emphasis was placed on acquiring the most up to date and cutting edge hardware and software, unfortunately, only mediocre consideration was placed on network security. • 21. The Last Day of Humanity Prologue Purpose. The very word seems to carry with it the weight of progress, of advancement, of humanity. It is the fire that has burned in man s heart since the dawn of civilization; a cunning tactician smiling to himself as humanity wins its battles. Purpose has driven us from the first fire to the final frontier; it is the father of civilization. Humanity advanced, quickly. With basic survival and a functioning society fulfilled, civilization sped up. Distances became shorter, entertainment became quicker, and life became busy. With life moving quickly, man lost time to think. And without thought to fuel it, purpose became sparse and unfulfilled. Mankind, in their vanity, began to attempt to eradicate the need for purpose. Society became shallow. It pressed upon its youth, its future, mindless norms disguised as purpose. How many squares of various sizes are there? Also, how many squares can be in any sized checkerboard (e.g. 9 by 9 checkerboard). There are many steps to figure out the problem. First, I figured out how many squares there were in the checkerboard squares which was 64.(Green should explain how you got 64.) To find 64 I simply looked at the top of the square and added the squares up to get 8, and I did the same exact thing to the side of the square and got 8 then I multiplied them to get 64 squares.. A physician s assistant of Wyeth pharmaceutical company administered the drug through an IV push, which was not stated as danger on the label. The injection of the drug hit the artery instead of the intended vein, which caused Levine to amputate most of her arm. This caused for Levine to sue Wyeth in Vermont Superior Court since she felt that it was their responsibility due to their negligence and unawareness of informing the patient. Fadliya and McLeod (2010) showed how local governments had passed laws only to raise revenue (such as taxes and user charges) instead of pursuing social justice targets in Indonesia. Finally, Nasution (2016) explained that the decision making process was more difficult in the era of regional autonomy because the interest of conflicting parties and districts must be accommodated. The above reality of regional autonomy provides an important insight for this thesis. Specifically, the local laws might fail to prevent or restore the environmental damages as a result from FDI in tourism. In the regional autonomy, local governments in Bali have wider rights and authorities through laws and policies in order to manage their own affairs. This fact, however, is not always beneficial. The laws and policies could overlap or even contradict with the central government s laws and policies, affecting the government s effectiveness to realise its goals, especially in anticipating and controlling the impact of FDI in tourism on the environment. The shortcomings of regional autonomy have affected the environmental governance. The focus of this novel is on a poor Indian family. The family consists of three members: Kino, a husband, father, and fisherman, Juana, his wife and loving mother; and Coyotito their infant son. This indigent family lives in a small brush hut along the Gulf of Mexico by the town of La Paz. One day Coyotito, is bitten by a scorpion; a scorpion sting can be deadly to a baby. Kino and Juana are very worried over the health of their baby; therefore, they hope to find a pearl worthy enough for the doctor s payment to the doctor to treat Coyotito. The doctor s words and actions clearly illustrates humanity s struggle with greed. Another example of greed is shown when Juana takes the pearl from Kino to throw back into the sea. Kino realizes what she is doing and goes after her. Just as Juana is about to discard the pearl, Kino grabs her arm and wrenches the pearl from her. He punches her in the face and when she falls on the boulders, he kicks her in the side. The following quote establishes the violence that Kino unleases on his wife in order to protect his precious pearl from harm, due to his greediness of what the pearl will bring to him and his family: ...Rage surged in Kino. He leaped at Juana and wrenched the pearl from her...with clenched fists, struck her in the face...kicked her in the side...Greedy fingers went through his clothes (58 59). This quote shows the greed in Kino is getting greater and greater. If a gothic story doesn t have a perfect setting, the plot will not be as exciting to the reader. The setting needs to have dark elements, horrifying twists, and turns to drive the story. Even though guns can be dangerous, guns are used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is something that has very precise steps to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least 21 years of age. If for some reason you are ineligible to purchase a firearmthen you are no longer able to get the permit to conceal a handgun. A person that has been convicted of a violent misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will be rejected if applied for a conceal carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to be able to conceal a handgun. After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant the court may require proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This includes: completion of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia Gun Laws). Also a lot more goes into it. Many choose to conceal carry instead of open carry for a couple of different reasons. When you conceal a handgun nobody knows you have the gun. If a criminal comes to rob a gas station that you are in and sees a handgun on your hip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The artifacts reveal the use of self assessments and peer assessment in a classroom environment. The use of self and peer assessment allows the students to place responsibility upon themselves. This artifact is documentation of a lesson taught during my two week internship in Alabaster City Schools. The internship was with an ESL Summer Camp, pertaining to third grade students. Germs like living in moisture and this is why the test could not be done on a normal tiled floor but instead had to be done with artificially covered surfaces. It also makes sense that germs would stick to a food that was wet instead of a food that was dry. Cheese had the second most bacterial colonies, and we could say this could be because of it being the second moistest food. Lastly, was the chip. The chip got less bacterial colonies because it had no moisture what so ever. The difference in the lowest and the highest on the ham varied widely from the lowest and the highest on the chip. The lowest in the ham is 12 (ham on a bricked, or tiled surface) and the highest is 25 (ham on a bricked surface) whereas the lowest for a chip is 9 (chip on a tiled surface) and the highest is 15 which is a carpeted surface. Unlike this somewhat loose narrator, the first person narrator, Miss. The Louisiana Territory was purchased from France in the year 1803, Americans continued to push farther west for fertile land that could be used for farming. Due to overcrowding of eastern cities like New York City and Boston many settlers moved out west for a new start. It allowed for colonists to spread out and own untouched fertile land. When white settlers arrived they had realized that most of the land acquired from the territory was occupied by Native Americans for thousands of years. For decades Americans had thought that the land west of the Appalachian Mountains were unoccupied, but they were wrong. There were many tribes that had occupied this land. This included tribes like, The Choctaw, Cherokee, and The Chickasaw. In a sense, Americans had violent outbreaks with the Natives the minute the colonists had arrived in the United State. As the colonists tried to establish complete dominance and superiority over the Indians, ongoing heated debates over land ownership, and demanding requests to satisfy greed made forceful attacks between the groups unavoidable. To begin, many conflicts began to arise in the volatile relationship between Native Americans and English Settlers and the Spanish government. Much of the conflicts arose from a clash in cultures. For instance, Francisco Coronado stated that it was wrong for Native Americans to believe in many gods because it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Are Hacksaws As Productive As Band Saws 1.Does the force or torque in drilling change as the hole depth increases? Explain. How then, would you then change the feeds and speeds as the hole depth increases? Generally, as the hole depth increases, the force or torque in drilling also increases because as the depth increases, the surface contact area will also increase which increases the required force to drill the hole. Therefore, it increases the required torque. As the hole depth increase, the feed and speed reduce because the drill experience higher stress as the depth increase compared to the stress at shallow holes. These stresses caused torque to increase with the increasing chances of failure. So, to compensate the chances of failure, the feeds and speed needed to be reduced. ... This statement however is actually contrary to the truth; in fact there is probably a lot of everyday things that wouldn t even be existent if the Dark Ages didn t happen.
