Difference Between Food And Organic Food
Organic Food Versus Body and Environment In a day and age where the type of food we eat is
discussed all over the media, it can be hard to tell what is true and what is simply another
marketing ploy. In regards to organic food, there is definitely a lot of opinions surrounding the
authenticity of claims to their health and environmental benefits. Many people swear that by eating
organic, you can prevent illnesses such as cancer. While others argue that organic foodis the answer
to saving our environment from the harmful chemicals that conventional farming produces.
Some even go as far to calm that organic foods may be another way to differentiate between
social classes (Isenhour). With so many different opinions, it can be difficult to decide what kind
of food you should be feeding your body. As a result of my interest in this widely controversial
topic, the question that I will be answering is whether or not organic foods are beneficial to stave
off future disease and if they are actually better for the earth. According to my research, organic
foods have very little evidence supporting the idea that they are healthier for our bodies, but have
the potential to improve our environment with a little more research. For a food to be considered
organic, it must possess certain qualities. According to the USDA, the dirt that an organic food is
planted in can t have had prohibited things put in the soil in the last three years. Animals must be
kept in natural environments that

Developmental Disabilities Research Paper
Developmental Disabilities
Developmental disabilities include several types of conditions due to impairment in physical,
learning, language, or behavior areas. These conditions usually begin during the developmental
period, may impact daily functioning, and most of the time last throughout a person s lifetime.
Most developmental disabilities begin before a baby is born, but can also happen after birth due to
injury, infection, or other risk factors. It is very important that the mother takes care of herself
during her pregnancy to prevent or reduce the chances for her baby developing a disability. All the
different types of developmental disabilities will be explained and discussed throughout the
research paper.
As previously stated most developmental disabilities are caused by a mix of factors. These factors
include genetics, parental health and behaviors such as smoking and drinking during pregnancy,
complications during birth, or infections the mother might have during the pregnancy or the baby
might have very early in life. For some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Down Syndrome is mainly caused when a person is born with an extra copy of chromosome.
People with Down syndrome usually have physical problems, as well slow learning, delayed
speech, and short attention span. They may also have other health problems such as heart disease,
hearing problems, visual, skeleton or thyroid. Every person born with Down syndrome is different,
but should be treated like anybody else. There is no treatment out there that will help cure or
prevent Down Syndrome but there are other alternatives for treatment. There are several types of
treatment that can help them strengthen certain areas that they may be lacking. Treatment can
include health professionals such as special educators, occupational therapists, speech therapists,
physical therapists, social workers and

The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe
During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague
swept across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The
Black Plague arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of
medieval citizens. Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from
the Black Plague, however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies
would develop in the following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The
essence of fourteenth century European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the
papacy asserted spiritual rule and every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs.
Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and killed one third to one half of the entire population,
people questioned God as to why He would kill entire towns across the continent. Communities
prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed a sin large enough to deserve such a disease,
however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were
spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the church had a schism which entailed three
popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a humanistic movement where people began to
turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals would further lead to a sixteenth century
reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The citizens of

The Egyptian Women And Women
Contouring , Smokey Eye , and Winged Eyeliner are all popular phrases we know today that are
well overused. Where did these phrases originate from? Why are they so well known?
Originating all the way back from 10,000 BCE is when the idea of makeup started coming about.
This idea, very simple at first began with the men and women of Egypt. The Egyptian population
first started with using oils and ointments for their hygiene and their health but then as time went
on the Egyptian women began using natural resources for other uses. Egyptian women apply
galena mesdemet (made of copper and lead ore) and malachite (bright green paste of copper
minerals) to their faces for color and definition (A History of Cosmeticsfrom Ancient Times). The
use of the natural resources in this way started what we know of today as makeup. The idea of
makeup as the use of making someone s face appear more attractive became very popular from
spreading from the Egyptians to the Chinese in 3000 BCE, Chinese to the Japanese in 1500 BCE,
and then on to the Grecians, Romans, and all over Europe. The idea of makeup made its way from
10,000 BCE up until now in the Twenty First Century. Although, somewhere along the way the idea
of makeup was no longer an addition to one s beauty but a necessity to even contain beauty. From a
young age, women are taught that they need makeup to be beautiful or attractive from cosmetic
company s propaganda through the use of media.
The media uses technology to

Applications Of Knx Logging Section
In keeping with the above requirements and considering the findings of the Current
Applications of KNX Logging section (p. 10), having a separate logging service and user interface
seems the most logical solution. Separating the GUI and the logger would allow for the KNX bus
to be logged with a background process, rather than require an application to be running in the
foreground when logging.
Figure 2.3 1 illustrates the overall solution proposed in this section. The diagram shows the KNX
network, the KNX to serial module, the host server, the logging service, the database, the user
interface and finally the user; it illustrates how these components of the logger system will interact
with each other.
In this proposal, a basic KNX network has been developed with various actuators and sensors.
The sensors are more important in the example network as these are the modules from which the
telegrams to be recorded originate. The KNX bus has a KNX to PC module which connects the
KNX network to a computer, these sorts of module will be discussed in greater depth later but
generally are used to connect a KNX network to another device via USB in order to configure or
otherwise manipulate the KNX network.
The KNX to PC module connects the KNX network to a server. The server hosts the logging
service which is used to record all information on the KNX bus in a data store. In Figure 2.3 1 the
data store is shown to be hosted on the server as well, however this is something which may

pharmacist named Caleb Bradham in his drugstore in 1893. The soft drink was made to be a
tonic to aid in digestion and as a refreshing drink that gives an energy boost. This concoction
made of pepsin and kola nuts was originally called Brad s Drink named after its inventor, but was
later changed to Pepsi Cola to be more marketable. Originally, this beverage was sold in drug

Indicate conclusions that can be drawn based on the trend: The graphs below illustrate the stock
prices of each company based on the timeline. By consulting the above graphs and charts it can
be concluded that Pepsi has been a strong competitor to Coke and that throughout history they
have been performing at comparable rates. Each has a similar background and customer base,
but there are some differences between the two companies and their individual performance
overall. It is clear that Pepsi holds a major stake in the market and is somewhat ahead of Coca
Cola in market share and productivity. Although both companies appear to be competing neck
to neck Pepsi appears to be performing at a slightly higher rate than Coke, despite the popularity
of both. Coke is wildly popular and is considered an American institution, but many seek
different tastes and this is where Pepsi has been taking some of the market share as some
consumers opt for Pepsi as their choice of beverage. Both companies represented in the graphs
shown previously are subject to the volatile market changes and increasing prices in commodities
and other raw ingredients that each company relies on for their production of their products. As
seen in the chart Pepsi is subject to the same market changes as Coke, but performance appears to
steady and less erratic in its market fluctuations. Since Pepsi is considered to be less volatile

Discuss the Graphic Design Styles and Techniques of Propaganda and Persuasion used by the Nazi
Government 1933 1939
Nothing is easier than leading the people on a leash. I just hold up a dazzling campaign poster
and they jump through it. (Goebbels, 1934). By the time Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of
Germany in 1933, he already understood the power that propaganda could have on the masses; so
quickly hired Joseph Goebbels as Reich Minister of Propaganda to control the news, media and art
in Germany. Propaganda then grew to become a very strong and powerful tool for the Nazi party up
to and throughout the Second World War under Goebbels power. Propaganda is the use of, usually,

The large sections of flat colour across the athlete s shirt and body suggest the use of woodblock
printing, relating back to the traditional Japanese style; that, and the use of the very traditional
Fraktur font, restrains the poster from looking too modern or un German. He has also positioned
the athlete s limbs to reflect a similar shape to a swastika, which is emphasised by her black shorts
and the flag behind her. This shows how the Nazi party had a strong power over everything that the
public saw, even to the subtle shapes created with a form.
Goebbels believed that if Hitler was to give speeches, the people should be able to hear him
(History Learning Site, 2013) so made sure radios were sold as cheaply as possible and public
places such as cafes and shops were ordered to broadcast Hitler s speeches so his voice and
message could reach as many people as possible, making it nearly impossible to not hear him.
Because of how cheaply wireless radios, or the People s Receiver as they were called, were sold
for, between 1933 and 1939 the number of radio sets sold in Germany quadrupled. The designer
Leonid created this image in 1936, which reads, All of Germany Listens to the Leader with the

Book Report On The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell examines the phenomenon of the tipping point: that magic
moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire,
as put into words by the book s author. Gladwell packed his book full of interesting studies that
further explain the concept of the tipping point. In my opinion, The Tipping Point is a very
captivating book.
Through reading The Tipping Point, I gained insight into what the tipping point is. I learned the
three rules of the tipping point : the Law of the Few , the Stickiness Factor , and the Power of
Context . In the law of the few, Malcolm Gladwell states that there are certain people who
contribute to the start of tipping points who he calls Connectors , Mavens , and Salesmen. Together
these three personality types spread ideas, products, and behaviors throughout the world. I love
learning about people and found these concepts fascinating. Gladwell s other rules of the tipping

tipping point when I was younger, but I did not know it at the time. My friend was given a pair
of rollerblades as a birthday gift. She had so much fun with them, that another neighbor asked her
parents to buy rollerblades for her and her younger sisters and they did. A short time later, I too,

in The Tipping Point, but I do think that it is an example of a smaller kind of tipping

Clean Water In Gwinnett County
The environmental issue of interest is clean drinking water and the abuse of our water sources.
The interest in this discipline is because clean water and water abuse have been an issue for
many years. Many countries around the world and in our own back yard lack clean drinking
water. The cause of unclean water can be caused by bad agriculture practices and industrialization.
The cause of these unhealthy practices may cause waters to be contaminated with a mineral called
Chromium; this mineral exposes a high risk of cancer. The county of Gwinnett is full of lakes,
rivers, streams, creeks and ponds but the only source of drinking waterthat is disposed to residents
comes from a man made lake called Lake Lanier. The lake provides clean drinking... Show more

The main concern is if there are high levels of chromium. Chromium is a metallic mineral that is
tasteless and odorless. The mineral Chromium is considered a cancer risk . The high exposure
to the fumes and ingestion of chromium are what can cause cancer. Chromium is found in
drinking water because of the manufacturing of stainless steel, textiles, anticorrosion coating
(Cho 2010), etc. and is exposed into drinking water. The biggest water source in Gwinnett county
is Lake Lanier, which is a man made lake that is 38,000 acres of water. 1 Lake Lanier was made
when the Buford Dam was built on the Chattahoochee River. The lake is used not only for
supplying drinking water but also boating, fishing, there is a water park, people swim and bar b q
in the spring and summer as well as many other activities and events held around the lake. All of
this can contribute to the pollution of the water as well as the constant construction on the lake for
living and recreation purposes. In a report from 2015 provided by Susan Cowart who is the Open
Record Coordinator for Gwinnett County Water Resources, states that the level of chromium in

The Nature of a Mistress-Servant Relationship in Daniel...
Relationships play a large part in the average modern day person s everyday life, just as
relationships were important in the past. Although types of companionships have somewhat
changed over time, the presence and importance of them still remains. Viewing, analysing and
comparing other individual s relationships to our own is something most people do, as a sort of
assurance that things are natural. This is why many people are interested in novels about ways that
other human beings interact with individuals and groups. Daniel Defoes character Roxana has her
own way of interacting with and manipulating people. In his novelRoxana, Defoe uses examples of
extreme faithfulness from the Amy to demonstrate the intimate relationship present... Show more

At the start of the novel, Roxana gives Amy the task of abandoning her children. Amy performs
this task without asking any questions, as a loyal servant of friend should. The children are
only brought back into the novel when Roxana realizes that one of her daughters is living in her
home as a cook maid. Amy is again given the task of dealing with her mistress s children. She
dresses up and visits them, giving them money on their mother s part, while careful not to reveal
the secret about Roxana. When one of the children figures out who her mother is, Amy kills her
against Roxana s wishes. This goes to show how loyal she is: even though she disobeyed her
mistress, she treated the incident as if the daughter had wronged her, rather than Roxana. This
may just be what the murder is about Amy has been close to Roxana for so long, sharing the
secret identity, that it has almost become her own secret in many ways. Her choice of words she
ll ruin us all (272) (using us instead of you ) shows that she feels as much in trouble as her
mistress; on the other hand, her loyalty is still evident when she tells Roxana: I ll put you out of
your Pain, and her too (273). Amy is obviously thinking about preventing her mistress from
suffereing, more than she is thinking about herself. Amy again takes on the family when she
confronts Roxana s first husband. She finds out all there is to know and reports back to her
mistress, as she does in many cases.

How Did The Navajo Code Talkers Help The Allies
There was a group of Navajo men, called Code Talkers, that played a major part in helping the
Allies in World War II. Their work was so successful for multiple reasons.
Code Talkers were Navajo men who used their native language to develop a code that was
indecipherable to Japanese cryptologists. In the beginning there were twenty nine Navajo men
creating the codes, called the Original 29, but several hundred Navajos would join and learn the
code. For years the Navajos were unable to speak of what they did in the war, but now they ve
been given authorization to tell their tale. Their code played a major part in helping the Allies win
the war. The article states that, The group participated in every assault the Marines conducted in the
Pacific, sending thousands of covert messages regarding the movements of Japanese troops,

hummingbird, for example, the Original 29 came up with an alphabet and a glossary of more
than 200 terms. This shows that because the language was unwritten, you d have to know the
language to even have a chance of figuring out the codes. The Code Talkers were the walking
carriers of the code and each message that was read by a Code Talker, was destroyed immediately
afterwards. The Navajo code was so indecipherable, that a Navajo soldiers that had been captured
by the Japanese, couldn t decipher it. The article states that, After the war, the soldier told one of

Drugs Should Be Banned For Professional Sports
Drug Use In Sports
Ninety eight percent of professional athletes say that they would take performance enhancing
drugs if they didn t have a chance of getting caught. Performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs, or
steroids, have been around since 776 BC when the Greeks would use them to improve their
performance in the Olympic Games. During World War II, the Germans, including Hitler, would
take steroids to make themselves stronger and more aggressive. The Americans, British, and
Japanese also began to use steroids during World War II shortly after Germany. After the war,
athletes started to get their hands on these drugs and began to use them to boost their performance.
More recently, athletes such as bicyclist, Lance Armstrong and baseball player, Alex Rodriguez
have been caught using performance enhancers. While there are some people that believe
performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in professional sports, some say they should be legal
because using the drugs should be the athlete s decision, not someone else s and steroid use could
possibly even make the sport more fair than it is today.
Athletes in professional sports should be allowed to make their own decision whether or not to use
performance enhancers. If athletes prefer the gains in performance allegedly provided by the use of
steroids and they understand that there is a chance that the steroids could have a negative effect on
their bodies then what gives anyone the right to interfere with their choice?

What Is Prospero In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prospero is in complete control of his life and the lives of those
around him. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the minds of others in
order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his family back into power after his
brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of
what will happen and informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail
that Prospero fails to mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that
one third of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The last
third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero deems to be as
significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his dukedom restored, his enemies at his
mercy, and possession of his magic books, the last third of his life is anything but predictable.
Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his
ultimate goal of pleasing others. First, one should establish the scope of the first two thirds that
Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given Ferdinand his daughter Miranda in

Theory Of Knowledge Essay 2014
„That which is accepted as knowledge today is sometimes discarded tomorrow.
Consider knowledge issues raised by this statement in two areas of knowledge.
To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be
permanent?
To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of
perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception
. Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation
of the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. Our sense of reason is usually decided by our
instinct as we decide almost unconsciously depending on the sort of experience we have had before.

scandals. This can be linked to the area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with
past incidences, and therefore how do we know if they are correct?
Today is a time measurement representing the present. This makes me wonder what knowledge
exists today? Will it be permanent? To what extent is knowledge temporary? As we have seen in
the past, knowledge we have gained previously proves to be wrong over a certain amount of
time. If we look back for example people used to believe that the earth was flat. This was
predominantly because the technology was not there to research further. So basically a lack of
technology hinders us from knowing everything. Can this be applied to us? It is often said that
the more you learn the less you know, which conveys much the same problem as the essay. For
example myself, when I was younger, I used to believe that colours were just given by nature. But
now after some time in Physics lessons, I realised that colours are nothing more than the visual
perception from the light reflection depending on its wavelengths. How do we know we can trust the

The Oppression Of Women In Today s Western Culture
There have been many unspoken agreements made in the past 250 or so years of western culture.
There s an understanding in our community that some things just are because they are, especially
when it concerns gender. In America, men don t wear makeup or dresses. Girls aren t supposed to
be doctors, athletes, or CEOs. And in western culture, it s the simple truth that the only genders
that exist are boy, and girl. There s basis behind some of it, but one of the only reasons that it s
western philosophy is because it just... is.
Recently, however, these philosophies are being challenged. People across the world and America
are separating gender from activities and lifestyles. Male beauty gurus like Manny Gutierrez are
making waves. Marissa Mayer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Online Banking Industry
According to King, McKay, Marshall, Lee and Viehland (2008) online banking or electronic
banking (e banking) includes various banking activities conducted via the Internet from home,
business, or on the road opposed to at a physical bank location. This paper shall compare and
contrast both the online and offline retail environment for banking services.
Internet banking offers great opportunities to the financial services industry, including:
a huge potential customer base
large economies of scale in investment
the possibility for services to be delivered using standardised modular software
easy management of software
a common browser front end
the possibility to be equipped with good security protocols

The sites must be user friendly and convey a feeling of security.
According to Zakaria (2003) even though Internet banking has been long established, one of the
most important factors that may be slowing its progression is customer s concern for security of
financial transactions over the Internet. In a recent Key Note consumer survey (conducted in 2008)
into attitudes towards electronic banking, 40% of respondents said that they liked to manage their
money using the Internet. The survey found men were slightly more likely than women to use this
channel. 51.3% of respondents postulated that they were concerned about the security aspects of
electronic banking and 25.1% of the sample would not trust an electronic bank with their money
(Source: Key Note Report 2008).
Due to the nature of the online environment it is difficult for banks to build trust and relationships
with their customers. The Internet is extremely impersonal due to its global audience, the bricks
and mortar location of the local branch with a smiling advisor is much more inviting in comparison
to a cold lifeless computer screen. Also the learning process involved in using e banking can be
daunting, customers must invest their time and effort into learning more to use and navigate their
way around the sites. Internet banking can also be time consuming to set up and registration
numbers and access codes can be misplaced, stolen or forgotten. Although

The Essence Of All Art
The essence of all art is to have pleasure in giving pleasure (Baryshnikov). Music and dance,

Ancient Greek Horses Essay
Horses in Ancient Greece
When thinking back to the ancient times, the thought of the great chariot races will inevitably
enter a person s mind. Horses were not only used for this spectacular and dangerous event in
early times, but they were used and worshipped as so much more. The Greeks saw horses as a
symbol of speed, competition, and human mastery over nature. They were viewed as an animal
worthy of much respect and necessary tool for the Greeks competitive personalities. Horses were
an integral part of life in ancient Greece. They played an active role in warfare, transportation and in
the games such as the Panathenaic Games in Athens. Athenian enthusiasm for the horse was
expressed in the many civic buildings and temples that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More likely, the reason men did not fight on horseback under Greek and Roman rule is that
horsemen are not actually that effective against trained, organized foot soldiers. Both the
Greeks, after about 750 BC, and the Romans had trained foot soldiers, but in the medieval period
armies did not have the resources to train foot soldiers, and so the cavalry, which is the horses
and their riders, became more useful. Chariots are often associated with Classical civilization. For
several centuries, they were the primary means of employment for horses and a powerful addition
to several ancient armies. The harnessed Greek horse is much more of a spectacular legacy than
the ridden horse. The art of driving was mastered long before the art of riding. At the equestrian
contests which were held with the athletic games from an early date, there was four horse chariot
racing. Simple horse racing was soon added and then chariot races with a team of mules or a
single mare, both of which varieties were later abandoned, and then with a pair of full grown
stallions and later with younger horses. The horse breeders such as Phainippus, Hipponicus, and
Hippocleides, became famous along with the athletes and often sent out their trained horses great
distances for competition. Chariot racing was one of the most popular sports to watch and was
considered the most dangerous and requiring the most skill and confidence. When the chariots

Why God Is Forever Faithful
I believe God is forever faithful. There have had countless times that I have seen the work of
God. The first, seeing my alcoholic son find the help to stop drinking and to want to keep striving
to be the man, father, and husband that God intended him to be. Another, in 1990, my husband had
his colon removed. Three years, twelve surgeries, and almost death later he pulled through. Next is
when my children were young and facing important situations or have important questions, I
would say an instant prayer for wisdom before answering them. It was amazing to hear what God
gave me for a reply. And last, our thirty year old daughter had a reflex door that went between her

see his beauty as I go about my day and thank him. In tough times I have a quick phrase that I
sing as a prayer, I need you now . Once I was driving and I was listening to Christian music and
just enjoying feeling close to him. I said something to him in my head. All of a sudden, I heard a
very funny response in a clear voice next to me. I had to turn and make sure there wasn t anyone

Hidden is a fictional book by Margaret Peterson Haddix that takes place in a dystopian society.
The story is about a boy named Luke Garner who does not legally exist. There is a law that
families are not allowed to have more than two children, and Luke has two older brothers.
Therefore, Luke has spent his whole life in hiding. Luke had never met anyone except his
immediate family, until now. When Luke sees another third child s face in his neighbor s house he
decides to riskhis life to go meet her. Taking risks can be scary, but can change the way the life
path twists forever. A static character is someone who stays the same throughout the whole
book. Once Luke finally sprints to the neighbor s house, he discovers another third child whose
name is Jen. Jen is a static character in Among the Hidden. Luke and Jen almost instantly
become friends. Jen is a very confident girl; she is confident in everything she does and believes
in. She is also outgoing. Plus, Jen has a one track mind. For example, Stop Jen? That s like trying
to stop the sun, (Haddix 127). Lastly, Jen is a leader. She runs the whole rally to free all third

David Foster Wallace s Infinite Jest is set in O.N.A.N, a interdependent North American state
where what is currently known as America, Mexico, and Canada are one. Its acronym may allude
to the biblical Onan, signifying this union of nations as a travesty of wasted potential (Hayles 685).
It houses a world of cyclical addictions to drugs, overthinking, and entertainment at dangerous costs.
Scholar Katherine Hayles has noted that, there is no real inter in this version of Interdependence,

The thought experiment s most common variation proposes that a test subject has the ability to
save five people by flipping a switch and having it hit one person instead (Kahane). Another
proposal is the footswitch variation, which proposes a test subject has the ability to save five people
by pushing one otherwise uninvolved person onto the tracks. While deontology is concerned with
whether man has obligation to act in the problem, utilitarianism proposes that the subject should
always sacrifice the life of one to save as many as possible. Utilitarianism, despite its seemingly
logical appeal, is not psychologically natural for most individuals. One study found that those who
make utilitarian decisions in the trolley experiment tend to have decreased sense of responsibility,
higher than average levels of testosterone, increased levels of anger, and low levels of serotonin
(Duke). Those with high cognitive ability are more likely to be utilitarians, but the mindset is also a

Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley
Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The
play was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley s
oeuvre consists of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a
prolific creator of material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent
themes). Many attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so called in yer face
movement within British theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and
often defy classification.2 Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley s writing
(violent imagery, obsession with the power of language, and distorted memories), but the playis
perhaps most interesting for its rather unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot
of the play and attempt to outline its main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of
how the structure operates. Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle s theories of theatrical
structure, in order to examine how the play s structure sits within traditional models of Western
playmaking, but also pushes against them in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that
the structure of the play is, in and of itself, performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured
memories and an attempt to re experience the past, that which is always already absent. The
structure of the play functions to disrupt the

Tcr Recognition
T cells are one of the key factors in the adaptive immune system which specifically recognize the
virus infected and tumors cells. These cells recognize antigens (epi topes or tumor antigens) using
protein known as T cells receptor TCR which is heterodimer and is consisted of an alpha (О±) and
beta (ОІ) chains. The fully matured T cells population expressing О±ОІ T cells receptors (TCR)
composed of the T cells which expresses CD4 or CD8, and the CD4 or CD8 ОіОґ expressing T
cells receptor cells. The specificity of the CD4+ and CD8+ T cells is directed by the expression of
the co receptors, CD4 and CD8. The ligand for CD4 is the ОІ2 domain of the (MHC) class II

Therefore, TCRs are unable to target tumor antigens such as carbohydrate or lipid antigens.
However, genetically modified T cells expressing CARs (chimeric antigen receptors) avoid the
TCRs limitation and can recognize intact antigen i.e. cell surface proteins, carbo hydrate and lipid
tumor antigen. Moreover, tumor can also down regulation expression of HLA. The T cells
expressing CARs can be used regardless of the HLA types in adaptive T cells therapy. Interaction
of the unique О±ОІ TCR of the T cells to the specific antigen presented on either class I or II MHC

Emotional Abuse And Its Effects On A Person Essay
Emotional abuse is defined by its devastating effects on a person. It is seen in the forms of
domestic abuse, bullying, and child abuse. Research shows how someone who has been
emotionally abused develops personality disorders, has low self esteem, and even has suicidal
thoughts. Although there has been research that provides a general idea of emotional abuse and
its effects, the research should take a deeper look at how the smallest details affect someone. My
position differs from those who claim they know the true definition of what emotional abuse is.
It doesn t include parents or abusers who claim to know how to define it. Emotional abuse
should be looked at with a magnifying glass because the smallest details are what allow people
to see how emotional abuse affects a person s behavior and mental state, and the smaller details
allow people to give a clearer definition of what emotional abuse is. Although there have been
numerous researches done to define what emotional abuse is, there are many more factors that
researchers haven t found yet. According to Gunta Krumins, she states there are large gaps in
information of this area (IX). What she means by her statement is how there are many pieces of
evidence needed to prove any information given by theorists and psychologists. A majority of
those pieces can be found by taking a look into a person s background. Joan Lachkar, writer of

Nurses play many roles in today s society; they have to balance family, life, and their job. Nursing
is a very demanding profession; you are caring for the sick with limited resources causing nurses to
create unrealistic expectations (Bush, 2009). Nurses create a tireless arrangement and emotional
connections with patients, shouldering a huge supporting role. Supporting this role causes nurses to
feel emotional exhaustion and the weight of care for patients can become overwhelming. Signs of
emotional exhaustion can cause nurse to become hostile, isolated, start crying for no reason, and
getting upset (Bush, 2009). Apathy means lack of concern or interest, as well as lack of emotion or
feelings (Bush, 2009). Exhaustion of emotional reserves can cause nurses to become apathetic,
uncaring, and preoccupied. It takes a toll psychologically on the mind causing emotional overload
before a nurse becomes numb to emotions. Apathy eventually causes you to feel fatigued and a lack
of concentration and reduced productivity at work. Long term apathy can cause absenteeism and
tardiness, complaints by co workers and patients, and result in job termination (Bush, 2009).
Depression happens when someone has extreme feeling of hopelessness and sadness. Signs of

The Conspiracies Of Marilyn Monroe
Many of the most popular conspiracies around her death dealt with the Kennedy s; almost every
conspiracy involves the Kennedy s in one way or another. Over the years Marilyn Monroe had
relationships with a handful of different men. Many of those men had high ranking public statuses
like her, so their relationships with her were protected until her death. Some of the men that
Marilyn was involved with included: her ex husband Joe DiMaggio, President John F. Kennedy,
Robert Kennedy, and Frank Sinatra. Marilyn had trouble sticking with one guy at a time. She fell
in love very easily, making it hard for her resist these men. Marilyn was having affairs with both
Kennedy brothers and Sinatra in the time period around her death, which led some... Show more

Marilyn Monroe s case was never truly solved. Investigators scrambled to find a justification and
came to the conclusion that she committed suicide and let the public believe so. According to
Baker, Baker, McNeil. (2012) if Monroe truly did commit suicide by pill overdose, they would
have had to have found pill residue in her stomach when doctors did the autopsy. However, they
did not find any residue of the pills, ruling out her potential suicide by overdosing on drugs. If
Marilyn Monroe did not commit suicide, she was murdered by Robert Kennedy on behalf of his
jealousy of her relationships with other men. Another explanation for him murdering her was
that he was scared that if the public found out about their affairs, it would ruin his public figure.
According to Baker, Baker, McNeil (2012) Witnesses claim to have heard a disturbing tape, from
the bugged Monroe home the night of her death, on which the voices of Peter Lawford, and angry
Bobby Kennedy and a screaming Monroe are audible (p. 52). This could very well be true
considering that Robert was in the Los Angeles area that day. History.com (2009) claims that On

So B By Sarah Weeks
The weird start
This story has a weird beginning. I thought that the first chapter of So B. by Sarah Weeks it was
going to be an introduction and all. But it was talking about dinosaur skin color. Then all these
thing started popping in my head like if the whole book will be about dinosaur skin color, why did
the author choose to start her story this way. This is why i choose to write an essayabout it. But I
found the first sentence of the story unique, Something you won t see in other books.
The first sentence was, If the truth was a crayon and it was up to me to put a wrapper around it
and name its color, I know just what I would call it dinosaur skin. It didn t really make sense to me
in the beginning. It made me feel like the book was about dinosaur skin color or something i
wonder why the Author add that part and on the first chapter. The title of this chapter was Heidi,
maybe the Author thought that heidi the main character of the book liked dinosaurs, so she should
include it in the story. I looked at one of the leads that the Author might of started the story with and
the beginning with but it didn t fit into any of them the first chapter was not all that interesting. But

Well it was interesting of how the whole story was, because the first whole chapter she started
with how people didn t know for sure the true color of dinosaurs. I didn t really think it mattered
if people knew or not what color dinosaurs were because right after you know they will be painted
differently and that s it, also it s not like there s enough evidence today about the dinosaur skin color
to know for sure what color they were. The author might of put this part because maybe she like
dinosaurs and she wanted them to be part of her story, maybe she thought the main character heidi
would love dinosaurs. So many things i thought about, But maybe the author thought that this topic

Easter Egg Religion
Easter seems to be disappearing from a number of Easter eggs being sold in the UK today, and
some brands have opted to simply label their products as chocolate egg. Although Easter is the
most important Christian festival being celebrated every year, its essence is quietly
disappearing in some brands of Easter eggs in the UK. An exception to this is fair trade
chocolate product Real Easter Egg, which features Christian messages on its label and uses its
profit for charity, according to Telegraph. The Meaningful Chocolate Company, the maker of
Real Easter Egg, features references to the Easter story and even nativity scenes on its product
labels. The Manchester based firm was founded by David Marshall six years ago as part of an

Diversity and its Impact on Communities and Businesses Essay
Diversity means a group of people who are different from other people to most people; however
diversity isn t a group of people because each and every one of us are unique through age, gender,
races, ideas, imaginations, opinions, ethnics, religion, cultural beliefs, special talents, and a variety
of other unique things.
Diversity can offer many opportunities to businesses owners because as more immigrants enter the
U.S. the more diverse our nation becomes one of the things immigrants bring is their language. It is
hard to communicate with people who are not familiar with the English language because some
countries don t offer a second language to learn. If our country was not diverse we would lack the
communication with other countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ipod Compare And Contrast
In the last 50 plus years, society has been changed tremendously as new inventions and innovations
have emerged. In my experiences, there are two noteworthy items that have a pronounced place in
this catalog. As a teenager in the early 21st century, I have an abundance of experience with both of
these inventions. Today s modern televisions are a product of evolution and improvement, and that
the iPod is relatively new to society there are a lot of differences between the two. Such as ways
information is broadcasted, target demographics, and their separate functions. On the contrary, they
also are popular forms of entertainment and share some similar functions.
A major difference between the two household items, today is how they retrieve the information

We use the railroads for many things now days. In the civil war, railway systems were one way a
force could gain the benefits of inside argumentation,, and as generals pursued this strategy the
Civil war became the first great railroad war in Mississippi. The Mississippi railroads made it
easier for things to transport in and out of Mississippi. The status of inside lines can be achieved
by a violence having a central location relation to the enemy or by a force having superior lateral
communication relative to the enemy. It is the importance of railroads and the interior lines that
they promised that catapulted the otherwise modest town of Corinth, Mississippi into the center
stage of the Civil state of War. At the meter of the Civil War, Corinth was still a young town.
Corinth stands as a multi faceted demonstration of how railroads influenced procedure and
scheme in the Civil War. It had already brought together the two great armies that clashed at
Shiloh. In bend the Confederates and Federals had defended and attacked it, struggling for its
ascendency. The Mississippi railways made it easier, traveling wise. During the years 1880
1899 ,Civil War days in Corinth, the railroads were way more significant and important to
Corinth s people. Back in those type of days, there was hardly any transportation for people. So
they took highly advantage of the railroads. However, from the years 1900 1950, Industrial
Corinth, the railroads were still important but not as highly as the years 1880 1899 being more
things were getting invented as in cars and trucks, mainly for transporting goods. Now in the
years 1950 2015, Modern day Corinth, the railroad importance went down. In these days we have
things like big 18 wheelers and over seas transportation. There was more transportation now and

A MULTI DISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO TEACHING CROSS CULTURAL

Paul Kalfadellis Working Paper 34/05 May 2005
DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT WORKING PAPER SERIES ISSN 1327 5216
Abstract The ability of managers to interact with individuals from cultures other than their own,
requires a concerted effort on the part of business educators and academics to train and educate
today s students and tomorrow s managers in the area cross cultural communication. This is not
necessarily an easy task. Teaching cross cultural communication requires a multidisciplinary
approach, which goes beyond what is traditionally offered by trainers and educators. It requires the

The training helps contribute to people s cross cultural competency and enables them to develop an
awareness of cultural difference (Gannon Poon, 1997; Gudykunst, Ting Toomey, Wiseman, 1991;
Milhouse, 1996). Black and Mendenhall (1990) suggested that cross cultural training provides for
positive outcomes in terms of people s cross cultural skill development, adjustment and
performance. Cross cultural training for expatriate managers was found to have a strong impact on
cross cultural skill development, adjustability and job performance (Deshphande Viswesvaran,
1992). Gannon and Poon (1997), in a study of MBA students undergoing crosscultural training and
education as part of their course, found that that cross cultural training promoted cultural awareness
and confidence on the part of students. This study confirms the general proposition that cross
cultural training increased people s level of confidence in dealing with others of different cultural
backgrounds (Milhouse, 1996).

Muslims and The Holy Qur an
There is a reasonable number of researches and studies conducted by Muslims and Non Muslims on
English translations of the Holy Qur an. However, little attention has been given to the translation
of Qur anic euphemistic expressions into their equivalents. For the previous studies didn t discuss
euphemisms in the Holy Qur anas culture bound units and therefore suggested traditional solutions
for their translations such as paraphrase and transliteration. The proposed study differs from the
previous ones because it looks into theories of translationincluding functional and formal
equivalence. Moreover, the study will examine different exegeses of the Noble Qur an to obtain a
closer view of the intended meaning. In addition, the study sheds light on the rhetorical style of the
Holy Quran in addressing people that the euphemism reflects. Thereupon, the importance of this
study stems from the well planned strategy that it proposes to translate the Qur anic euphemistic
expressions into English. This strategy includes the translation of each euphemistic expression into
its cultural and lexical equivalent, if any, in the target language. If there is no equivalence, the study
attempts to use other alternative methods, namely: gloss translation, footnotes, transliteration,
omission, compensation and paraphrase. Outline of the study
The proposed study will be divided into five chapters. Chapter one will set out the background of
the study and present various definitions of

Cheesecake Factory Healthcare Analysis
There are major differences between the US health care system and the Cheesecake Factory that
should be kept in mind. Contrary to the Cheesecake Factory, health care facilities are focused
more on the accessibility of the system for staff use and not patient use. Healthcare is something
everyone will encounter at some point in their life. The cheesecake factory does not have this
problem; the restaurant makes a profit solely because people decide to eat there. Healthcare is a
permanent business. If you have a chronic disease, broken bones or are simply sick you don t
contemplate whether or not you seek medical treatment, it is mandatory. The difference between
Cheesecake factory and Health Care facilities is patient eduacation. The most important thing,
within the hospital setting, is patient education... says Dr. Tracy Lawrence (Gruessner 2015). At
the Cheesecake Factory you can pick where you want to sit, what you want to order, whether or
not you want dessert, and how much you want to spend. At a hospital this is completely decided
by your physician. Imagine that the cheesecake factory is the only place you could eat a meal at.

The Needed Reformation of Gun Laws in the United States of America
In America today we are faced with a choice, to protect our population with regulatory procedures

ravage our country. As the number of deaths by violent firearminteractions rise our country has a
moral obligation to attempt to better our systems. The reality is, in order to support the desire for a

Lemieux found that there is significant evidence that mass shootings and gun ownership rates are
highly correlated... and that this association remains high even when the number of incidents from
that United States is withdrawn from the analysis, (Lemieux 82). This quote emphasizes the point
that the number of guns in a community has a direct relationship with the amount of mass
shootings that occurs in a certain area. The United States has a leniency in gun policies that allow
for there to be an astronomical number of mass shootings every decade. If the United States were
to model the gun laws after some of the other countries in the world there could be a higher chance
of the mass shooting rate going down. Such countries as Australia [have] not experienced a mass
shooting since 1996 when it implemented more rigorous gun policies in response to the Port Arthur

from filling the gun records; Mata s research has uncovered that Great Britain and Switzerland have

Simultaneous Futures: The Role of Time in The Garden of the Forking Paths In The Garden of the
Forking Paths by Jorge Luis Borges, Stephen Albert is studying the work of TsК№ui PГЄn. His
work is not only a book, but also a labyrinth. Many people think that the book and the labyrinth are
two different things, but Stephen Albert has a different theory; it is the theory of a never ending
book. It is never ending because TsК№ui PГЄn has chosen all possible futures simultaneously.
TsК№ui PГЄn has written a book and a labyrinth, which is a never ending story of endless possible
futures that demonstrates the possibility for many different futures in real life. TsК№ui PГЄn has

  • 2. Difference Between Food And Organic Food Organic Food Versus Body and Environment In a day and age where the type of food we eat is discussed all over the media, it can be hard to tell what is true and what is simply another marketing ploy. In regards to organic food, there is definitely a lot of opinions surrounding the authenticity of claims to their health and environmental benefits. Many people swear that by eating organic, you can prevent illnesses such as cancer. While others argue that organic foodis the answer to saving our environment from the harmful chemicals that conventional farming produces. Some even go as far to calm that organic foods may be another way to differentiate between social classes (Isenhour). With so many different opinions, it can be difficult to decide what kind of food you should be feeding your body. As a result of my interest in this widely controversial topic, the question that I will be answering is whether or not organic foods are beneficial to stave off future disease and if they are actually better for the earth. According to my research, organic foods have very little evidence supporting the idea that they are healthier for our bodies, but have the potential to improve our environment with a little more research. For a food to be considered organic, it must possess certain qualities. According to the USDA, the dirt that an organic food is planted in can t have had prohibited things put in the soil in the last three years. Animals must be kept in natural environments that ... • 3. Developmental Disabilities Research Paper Developmental Disabilities Developmental disabilities include several types of conditions due to impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. These conditions usually begin during the developmental period, may impact daily functioning, and most of the time last throughout a person s lifetime. Most developmental disabilities begin before a baby is born, but can also happen after birth due to injury, infection, or other risk factors. It is very important that the mother takes care of herself during her pregnancy to prevent or reduce the chances for her baby developing a disability. All the different types of developmental disabilities will be explained and discussed throughout the research paper. As previously stated most developmental disabilities are caused by a mix of factors. These factors include genetics, parental health and behaviors such as smoking and drinking during pregnancy, complications during birth, or infections the mother might have during the pregnancy or the baby might have very early in life. • 4. The Myth Of Fourteenth Century Europe During a period within fourteenth century Europe, a pestilence known as the bubonic plague swept across eastern Asia and into England via trade, leaving millions dead in its wake. The Black Plague arrived at a time of war and famine in Europe, only further devastating the lives of medieval citizens. Religiously, socially, and politically, there were no immediate changes from the Black Plague, however, a Catholic schism, the ability for social mobility, and standing armies would develop in the following years, ultimately leading to sizable differences in life. The essence of fourteenth century European life revolved around the Roman Catholic Church; the papacy asserted spiritual rule and every individual was devoted to God and their beliefs. Therefore, when the plague hit Europe and killed one third to one half of the entire population, people questioned God as to why He would kill entire towns across the continent. Communities prayed for forgiveness, believing they had committed a sin large enough to deserve such a disease, however, clergymen, priests, and average citizens alike fell ill to the Black Plague, and none were spared. After the plague diminished from Europe, the church had a schism which entailed three popes at a single time, and the Renaissance led to a humanistic movement where people began to turn to individualism. This new found set of ideals would further lead to a sixteenth century reformation of the church, altering the course of history. The citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Egyptian Women And Women Contouring , Smokey Eye , and Winged Eyeliner are all popular phrases we know today that are well overused. Where did these phrases originate from? Why are they so well known? Originating all the way back from 10,000 BCE is when the idea of makeup started coming about. This idea, very simple at first began with the men and women of Egypt. The Egyptian population first started with using oils and ointments for their hygiene and their health but then as time went on the Egyptian women began using natural resources for other uses. Egyptian women apply galena mesdemet (made of copper and lead ore) and malachite (bright green paste of copper minerals) to their faces for color and definition (A History of Cosmeticsfrom Ancient Times). The use of the natural resources in this way started what we know of today as makeup. The idea of makeup as the use of making someone s face appear more attractive became very popular from spreading from the Egyptians to the Chinese in 3000 BCE, Chinese to the Japanese in 1500 BCE, and then on to the Grecians, Romans, and all over Europe. The idea of makeup made its way from 10,000 BCE up until now in the Twenty First Century. Although, somewhere along the way the idea of makeup was no longer an addition to one s beauty but a necessity to even contain beauty. From a young age, women are taught that they need makeup to be beautiful or attractive from cosmetic company s propaganda through the use of media. The media uses technology to ... • 6. Applications Of Knx Logging Section In keeping with the above requirements and considering the findings of the Current Applications of KNX Logging section (p. 10), having a separate logging service and user interface seems the most logical solution. Separating the GUI and the logger would allow for the KNX bus to be logged with a background process, rather than require an application to be running in the foreground when logging. Figure 2.3 1 illustrates the overall solution proposed in this section. The diagram shows the KNX network, the KNX to serial module, the host server, the logging service, the database, the user interface and finally the user; it illustrates how these components of the logger system will interact with each other. In this proposal, a basic KNX network has been developed with various actuators and sensors. The sensors are more important in the example network as these are the modules from which the telegrams to be recorded originate. The KNX bus has a KNX to PC module which connects the KNX network to a computer, these sorts of module will be discussed in greater depth later but generally are used to connect a KNX network to another device via USB in order to configure or otherwise manipulate the KNX network. The KNX to PC module connects the KNX network to a server. The server hosts the logging service which is used to record all information on the KNX bus in a data store. In Figure 2.3 1 the data store is shown to be hosted on the server as well, however this is something which may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. You are an Investment Analyst Essay Analyze each company s history, product / services, major customers, major suppliers, and leadership and provide a synopsis of each company. Pepsi Cola began as a drink developed by a pharmacist named Caleb Bradham in his drugstore in 1893. The soft drink was made to be a tonic to aid in digestion and as a refreshing drink that gives an energy boost. This concoction made of pepsin and kola nuts was originally called Brad s Drink named after its inventor, but was later changed to Pepsi Cola to be more marketable. Originally, this beverage was sold in drug stores and at soda fountains, but was later sold in bottled form to facilitate mass distribution. Indicate conclusions that can be drawn based on the trend: The graphs below illustrate the stock prices of each company based on the timeline. By consulting the above graphs and charts it can be concluded that Pepsi has been a strong competitor to Coke and that throughout history they have been performing at comparable rates. Each has a similar background and customer base, but there are some differences between the two companies and their individual performance overall. It is clear that Pepsi holds a major stake in the market and is somewhat ahead of Coca Cola in market share and productivity. Although both companies appear to be competing neck to neck Pepsi appears to be performing at a slightly higher rate than Coke, despite the popularity of both. Coke is wildly popular and is considered an American institution, but many seek different tastes and this is where Pepsi has been taking some of the market share as some consumers opt for Pepsi as their choice of beverage. Both companies represented in the graphs shown previously are subject to the volatile market changes and increasing prices in commodities and other raw ingredients that each company relies on for their production of their products. As seen in the chart Pepsi is subject to the same market changes as Coke, but performance appears to steady and less erratic in its market fluctuations. Since Pepsi is considered to be less volatile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Discuss the Graphic Design Styles and t Essay Discuss the Graphic Design Styles and Techniques of Propaganda and Persuasion used by the Nazi Government 1933 1939 Nothing is easier than leading the people on a leash. I just hold up a dazzling campaign poster and they jump through it. (Goebbels, 1934). By the time Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, he already understood the power that propaganda could have on the masses; so quickly hired Joseph Goebbels as Reich Minister of Propaganda to control the news, media and art in Germany. Propaganda then grew to become a very strong and powerful tool for the Nazi party up to and throughout the Second World War under Goebbels power. Propaganda is the use of, usually, biased or misleading information within design, media, news ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The large sections of flat colour across the athlete s shirt and body suggest the use of woodblock printing, relating back to the traditional Japanese style; that, and the use of the very traditional Fraktur font, restrains the poster from looking too modern or un German. He has also positioned the athlete s limbs to reflect a similar shape to a swastika, which is emphasised by her black shorts and the flag behind her. This shows how the Nazi party had a strong power over everything that the public saw, even to the subtle shapes created with a form. Goebbels believed that if Hitler was to give speeches, the people should be able to hear him (History Learning Site, 2013) so made sure radios were sold as cheaply as possible and public places such as cafes and shops were ordered to broadcast Hitler s speeches so his voice and message could reach as many people as possible, making it nearly impossible to not hear him. Because of how cheaply wireless radios, or the People s Receiver as they were called, were sold for, between 1933 and 1939 the number of radio sets sold in Germany quadrupled. The designer Leonid created this image in 1936, which reads, All of Germany Listens to the Leader with the People s Receiver ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Book Report On The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell examines the phenomenon of the tipping point: that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire, as put into words by the book s author. Gladwell packed his book full of interesting studies that further explain the concept of the tipping point. In my opinion, The Tipping Point is a very captivating book. Through reading The Tipping Point, I gained insight into what the tipping point is. I learned the three rules of the tipping point : the Law of the Few , the Stickiness Factor , and the Power of Context . In the law of the few, Malcolm Gladwell states that there are certain people who contribute to the start of tipping points who he calls Connectors , Mavens , and Salesmen. Together these three personality types spread ideas, products, and behaviors throughout the world. I love learning about people and found these concepts fascinating. I recall an experience I had with the tipping point when I was younger, but I did not know it at the time. My friend was given a pair of rollerblades as a birthday gift. She had so much fun with them, that another neighbor asked her parents to buy rollerblades for her and her younger sisters and they did. A short time later, I too, bought a pair of rollerblades. This may just be what the murder is about Amy has been close to Roxana for so long, sharing the secret identity, that it has almost become her own secret in many ways. Her choice of words she ll ruin us all (272) (using us instead of you ) shows that she feels as much in trouble as her mistress; on the other hand, her loyalty is still evident when she tells Roxana: I ll put you out of your Pain, and her too (273). Performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs, or steroids, have been around since 776 BC when the Greeks would use them to improve their performance in the Olympic Games. During World War II, the Germans, including Hitler, would take steroids to make themselves stronger and more aggressive. The Americans, British, and Japanese also began to use steroids during World War II shortly after Germany. After the war, athletes started to get their hands on these drugs and began to use them to boost their performance. More recently, athletes such as bicyclist, Lance Armstrong and baseball player, Alex Rodriguez have been caught using performance enhancers. While there are some people that believe performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in professional sports, some say they should be legal because using the drugs should be the athlete s decision, not someone else s and steroid use could possibly even make the sport more fair than it is today. Athletes in professional sports should be allowed to make their own decision whether or not to use performance enhancers. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of pleasing others. To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be permanent? To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception . Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation of the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. The modern media makes this very easy, as they seem to push the importance of scandals. This can be linked to the area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with past incidences, and therefore how do we know if they are correct? It houses a world of cyclical addictions to drugs, overthinking, and entertainment at dangerous costs. Scholar Katherine Hayles has noted that, there is no real inter in this version of Interdependence, only a pretense of hygiene created by the refusal to recognize those parts of oneself which are considered unclean (685). The thought experiment s most common variation proposes that a test subject has the ability to save five people by flipping a switch and having it hit one person instead (Kahane). Another proposal is the footswitch variation, which proposes a test subject has the ability to save five people by pushing one otherwise uninvolved person onto the tracks. While deontology is concerned with whether man has obligation to act in the problem, utilitarianism proposes that the subject should always sacrifice the life of one to save as many as possible. Utilitarianism, despite its seemingly logical appeal, is not psychologically natural for most individuals. One study found that those who make utilitarian decisions in the trolley experiment tend to have decreased sense of responsibility, higher than average levels of testosterone, increased levels of anger, and low levels of serotonin (Duke). • 30. Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The play was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley s oeuvre consists of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a prolific creator of material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent themes). Many attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so called in yer face movement within British theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and often defy classification.2 Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley s writing (violent imagery, obsession with the power of language, and distorted memories), but the playis perhaps most interesting for its rather unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot of the play and attempt to outline its main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of how the structure operates. Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle s theories of theatrical structure, in order to examine how the play s structure sits within traditional models of Western playmaking, but also pushes against them in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that the structure of the play is, in and of itself, performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured memories and an attempt to re experience the past, that which is always already absent. The structure of the play functions to disrupt the ... Research shows how someone who has been emotionally abused develops personality disorders, has low self esteem, and even has suicidal thoughts. Although there has been research that provides a general idea of emotional abuse and its effects, the research should take a deeper look at how the smallest details affect someone. My position differs from those who claim they know the true definition of what emotional abuse is. It doesn t include parents or abusers who claim to know how to define it. • 51. Cheesecake Factory Healthcare Analysis There are major differences between the US health care system and the Cheesecake Factory that should be kept in mind. Contrary to the Cheesecake Factory, health care facilities are focused more on the accessibility of the system for staff use and not patient use. Healthcare is something everyone will encounter at some point in their life. The cheesecake factory does not have this problem; the restaurant makes a profit solely because people decide to eat there. Healthcare is a permanent business. If you have a chronic disease, broken bones or are simply sick you don t contemplate whether or not you seek medical treatment, it is mandatory. The difference between Cheesecake factory and Health Care facilities is patient eduacation. The most important thing, within the hospital setting, is patient education... says Dr. Tracy Lawrence (Gruessner 2015). At the Cheesecake Factory you can pick where you want to sit, what you want to order, whether or not you want dessert, and how much you want to spend. At a hospital this is completely decided by your physician. Imagine that the cheesecake factory is the only place you could eat a meal at. Imagine that your order was already placed based on your dietary consumption. Imagine that your when you received your bill it had a tip and was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that the corporate bosses at Cheesecake Factory s headquarters claim to have more knowledge about what new items to add to the menu than the kitchen managers. This is the reverse in healthcare. Software developers generally know more about software than management. In healthcare, managers telling workers what to do often leads to poor results, because the instructions are often wrong. Experienced doctors and nurses usually know more about a patient s health than administrators. As a result, administrators telling health staff what to do has had a negative track ... Reformation Gun Laws The Needed Reformation of Gun Laws in the United States of America In America today we are faced with a choice, to protect our population with regulatory procedures concerning guns or to stand back and allow the current trends of voluntary violence to continue to ravage our country. As the number of deaths by violent firearminteractions rise our country has a moral obligation to attempt to better our systems. The reality is, in order to support the desire for a safer country we must increase the regulations and laws that surround the possession and purchase of firearms. There are those who oppose this out look, but the evidence from mass shootings, death numbers in correlation with the number off guns in a given area, and suicide survival ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lemieux found that there is significant evidence that mass shootings and gun ownership rates are highly correlated... and that this association remains high even when the number of incidents from that United States is withdrawn from the analysis, (Lemieux 82). This quote emphasizes the point that the number of guns in a community has a direct relationship with the amount of mass shootings that occurs in a certain area. The United States has a leniency in gun policies that allow for there to be an astronomical number of mass shootings every decade. If the United States were to model the gun laws after some of the other countries in the world there could be a higher chance of the mass shooting rate going down. Such countries as Australia [have] not experienced a mass shooting since 1996 when it implemented more rigorous gun policies in response to the Port Arthur massacre, (Mata 174). Australia isn t the only country whose gun policies have kept mass shootings from filling the gun records; Mata s research has uncovered that Great Britain and Switzerland have also shown positive progress. How Does Stephen Albert Create A Labyrinth Simultaneous Futures: The Role of Time in The Garden of the Forking Paths In The Garden of the Forking Paths by Jorge Luis Borges, Stephen Albert is studying the work of TsК№ui PГЄn. His work is not only a book, but also a labyrinth. Many people think that the book and the labyrinth are two different things, but Stephen Albert has a different theory; it is the theory of a never ending book. It is never ending because TsК№ui PГЄn has chosen all possible futures simultaneously. TsК№ui PГЄn has written a book and a labyrinth, which is a never ending story of endless possible futures that demonstrates the possibility for many different futures in real life. TsК№ui PГЄn has written a never ending book that he also classifies as a labyrinth. Albert has just met Dr. Yu Tsun and is discussing with him the works of his ancestor, TsК№ui PГЄn. Albert, while showing Dr. Yu Tsun the labyrinth, says, К»TsК№ui PГЄn must have said once: I am withdrawing to write a book. And another time: I am withdrawing to construct a labyrinth. Every one imagined two works; to no one did it occur that the book and the maze were one and the same thing (2186). In this passage, Albert... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
