Shift Production Manager Job for an experienced Manager of technically skilled maintenance
engineers of Traction & Diesel Powered Trains / Rolling Stock
If you have experience of
Traction & Diesel Rolling Stock maintenance of Trains.
Strong supervisory and management skills of people
The ability to make sound engineering decisions.
Knowledge of "Lean Manufacturing" tools and techniques
HNC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Working a variety of shift patterns
Salary level is to c£40,000 per annum including shift allowance
Your role will be to
Ensure that rolling stock meet the provisions of statutory Railway Group Standards and
Codes of Practice.
Lead and Direct the Team Leaders and production teams in delivering a quality, safe, and
reliable rail service on a 24/7 basis.
Act as technical point of contact outside of normal office hours.
Take charge of the production schedule to deliver Train availability and reliability
maintenance planning, presentation, and performance
Manage the Train depot production activity.
Maximise efficient use of staff and other resources to achieve the standards of maintenance
specified in the maintenance plans in a cost effective manner.
Ensure the maintenance programme is delivered on time and to the right quality,
Undertake regular reviews of competence and performance Rolling Stock Engineers.
Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety legislation, local health, safety, quality and
environmental policy requirements.
Establish and monitor the human, physical and material resources requirements to deliver
the production schedule.
Ensure all work done, technical records, material receipts / issues are accurately completed
on time and to required company standards and update relevant IT systems.
Review, cost and implement changes to work scope ensuring necessary Risk Assessments
and Methods of Work are produced.
Assess competence levels of sub-ordinate staff ensuring adequate quality is achieved
through product audits and in-process evaluations.
2. Ensure that technical issues that are observed on the fleet are advised to the Technical or
Engineering team and Engineering Instructions are reviewed and implemented in
conjunction with the Technical Manager.
Undertake depot safety/quality tours ensuring presentation of the facility is maintained to
the highest standard.
Identify training requirements for your staff and set up training with the relevant training
bodies.
Maintain discipline and foster good Industrial Relations with sub-ordinate staff.
Develop and deliver team briefs/Safety briefs/Tool box talks as required.
Strive for continuous improvement and implement Lean manufacturing techniques where
appropriate.
