1. QEHS Manager Job (Heavy Engineering) Ref 1405-38
Reporting to the Managing Director the Quality Environmental Health and Safety Managers job is
based in Milton Keynes and commutable from Bedford, Northampton, Kettering, Rugby,
Huntingdon, St Neots, Stevenage, Hitchin, Luton, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard, Brackley, Banbury,
Towcester.
The QEHS Manager for this Heavy Engineering Repair and Overhaul Facility will be required to
 Provide strategic direction and leadership for QEHS systems
 Take responsibility for implementation and monitoring of QEHS programs and initiatives set
by the Group
 Drives ownership, responsibility and accountability for QEHS while strategically planning and
aligning activities across departments
 Communicates effectively in order to drive implementation and change in support of the
consistent implementation and compliance to the QEHS policies and procedures.
If you’re
 Degree Qualified in a related QEHS field
 A member of CQI Chartered Quality Institute or similar
 Knowledgeable of quality standards & models
 A trained auditor - preferably Lead Auditor
 Six sigma trained
 NEBOSH certificate qualified
 A member of a recognised Health and Safety Institute
 Proficient in Microsoft software

Providing technical expertise across 2 sites you’ll be required to provide strategic leadership and
support for all QEHS management systems
The QEHS Manager will
 Oversee and direct the overall QEHS philosophy of the corporation as well as the
effectiveness of the QEHS management systems including compliance with OHSAS 18001,
ISO 14001, ISO 9001, IRIS and RISAS.
 Assist executive management with the development of the corporate QEHS objectives and
develop and maintain appropriate assessment systems to monitor these objectives.
 Develop an overall strategy to create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement.

2.  On a monthly basis, prepare and present to the executive management team a management
system review that includes a review of regional and corporate measures of Key
Performance Indicators, Customer Satisfaction and management system effectiveness.
 Develop the maturity of the QA and QC functions to mitigate risk and improve right first time
yield.
 Lead the organisation to continuously enhance Customer satisfaction.
 Lead the Quality Engineers in the deployment of pragmatic, agile and robust controls in both
a machining environment and service environment.
 Ensure compliance with industry, national & international standards
 Create and maintain the annual site Safety, Health & Environmental Management
Improvement plan in conjunction with Senior H&S Managers to ensure it delivers as a
minimum legal compliance and then communicate the plan at all levels on site
 Stop dangerous practices where there is imminent risk of injury or damage.
 Advise on hazard and risk management, and ensure an improvement plan is created.
 In emergencies, initiate suitable actions immediately, contact and communicate effectively
with all relevant internal contacts
 Facilitate the reporting & investigation of all near misses, accidents, damage incidents,
dangerous occurrences and fire incidents.
 Ensure that root causes are identified and recommendations made are delivered to prevent
recurrence and improve controls
 Provide statistical summaries of incidents to Management and draw attention to significant
trends and occurrences
In order to do this it’s expected you will have
 Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
 The ability and aptitude to interpret complex customer requirements and implement
necessary processes.
 A strategic, methodical and logical approach to work
 Strong communication skills
 The ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written contexts to a wide and
varied audience.
 Strong visual awareness (hazard spotting skills)
 Strong influencing skills - as the job holder will need to influence at all levels
 The ability to influence peer group and management groups
 The freedom to travel both nationally and internationally
