CONFERENCE SESSION

Delivering SharePoint as a service
As SharePoint is adding more complexity in enterprise it infrastructure and
becoming more and more critical for business, the need to reshape the way
companies align SharePoint to business needs are growing.
In this session you will learn about how to regain control, by using SharePoint
in a Service delivery context. We will talk about the process of designing a
generic SharePoint service, that span software versions, infrastructure and
business requirements, and provide a common scope for SharePoint in the
enterprise.
As the talk progresses you will see real life examples of SharePoint service
definitions, that can be used as a starting point for most companies.
This session is about giving your SharePoint investments new life, by
repositioning the technology as something the business can relate to and
define the scope of SharePoint to where it makes a difference.

Session speaker: Anders B. Skjønaa
Anders was working at Microsoft when the first version of SharePoint was
developed and launched and he has been one of the go-to guys for
understanding the up’s and down’s of the platform ever since. Today,
Anders is a partner in SharePointPeople, a strategy, architecture and
governance advisory firm in Denmark, and a frequent speaker and author
on SharePoint business topics.

SESSION ABSTRACT
As SharePoint is adding more complexity in
enterprise it infrastructure and becoming more
and more critical for business, the need to
reshape the way companies align SharePoint to
business needs are growing.
In this session you will learn about how to
regain control, by using SharePoint in a Service

of designing a generic SharePoint service, that

scope for SharePoint in the enterprise.
As the talk progresses you will see real life
examples of SharePoint service definitions, that
can be used as a starting point for most

This session is about giving your SharePoint

where it makes a difference.
DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE

Repositioning as a service
What are our goal with this?

 Boost user-adoption of SharePoint


Create a strategy for the entire SharePoint service



Divide SharePoint into solutions business users can relate to



Establish a common communication platform

 Strengthen SharePoint ROI (Return On Investment)


Drive adoption of the solutions offered on SharePoint



Standardize ALL solutions and ALL processes



Automate when possible

 Enable the ability to plan ahead


Create 24-36 months roadmap for everything SharePoint

 Embrace the complexity of the technology


Use a standard solution catalogue to create a clear scope
DELIVERING SHAREPOINT AS A SERVICE

Repositioning as a service
What is a Service?
• Something that is well defined and described
• Something you can communicate clearly to your customers
(the business)
• Something you can give a price tag
• Something you can deliver, manage and control
• Something you customers can order from you

The SharePoint Service Roadmap
A plan for the future…

 We need a roadmap to…


…understand what services and functionality can be offered at what time



…be able to scale resources in the service delivery team



…be proactive in budget planning



…be able to make important prioritization along the way

 The SharePoint Service Roadmap should include;


Development and launch of new managed services
Business
Applications

Managed
Processes



Infrastructure updates



High level cost and resource estimations



High level business plans
