Quantitative data analysis - John RichardsonOUmethods
Your project report should include: a viable research question; a critical literature review; a research proposal; and a work plan for the project. The proposed methods should include methods of data collection and methods of data analysis. Whether you are carrying out qualitative of quantitative research, you should know broadly how you are going to analyse your data before you collect them. And the work plan for your project should include a realistic estimate of the time it will take you to do the analysis. The aim of this presentation is to get you to think creatively about the kinds of analysis that might address your research problem.
Part of a course I run introducing quantitative methods. One of the slideshows on my site www.kevinmorrell.org.uk please reference the site if you use any of it - hope it is useful.

Lecture 1
Becoming a World-Class Employee and Leader Objectives
Introduction
This lecture shows how the 21st century communication skills you have learned so far will serve you in college, your career, and your life. By the end of this lecture, you will be able to answer the following learning objective questions:
· How do good communication skills help organizations succeed?
· How do you find and keep your passion for your work?
· Why is it important to establish healthy boundaries at work?
· How do you exceed expectations on the job?
Learning Objective 1
Communication Skills
How do good communication skills help organizations succeed?
Nonprofit and for-profit organizations need people with solid business skills. The most important of those skills are:
· the ability to set objectives
· lead or participate in teams
· communicate clearly
· meet deadlines
Without these skills, plans cannot be made, work cannot be done, funds cannot be raised, and results cannot be achieved.
Your ability to convey your message successfully and your ability to maintain a passion for what you do will directly affect your success.
Learning Objective 2
Maintaining Passion for Your Work
How do you find and keep your passion for your work?
Passion and enthusiasm go a long way in the corporate and nonprofit world. People who like what they do are fun to be around, and they inspire others to do and be their best.
Employers prefer people who like what they do because they tend to perform their jobs well, are highly productive, and motivate others. Your passion may start with an interest but it needs to be nurtured and sustained.
Many people find their passion for their work is sustained by:
· the ability to pursue what they love
· the chance to stretch themselves
· the opportunity to help others
· the feeling of being valued and rewarded for a job well done
Answering the questions in the table at the bottom of the page can help you find out if you are pursuing your passion.
1. How do you feel about your current stage of life—do you like what you are doing?
2. Are energized by the path of study you have chosen? If not, what are you enthusiastic about? Are you gathering information and soliciting advice so as to change your study path?
3. What interests and excites you? How do you plan to integrate your interests into your career?
4. When you graduate, will your first full-time job be a step toward your dream career or simply a job to get you from point A to point B?
5. Are you looking forward to the challenges of the working world?
6. What is standing between good and great for you?
Learning Objective 3
Establishing Boundaries in the Workplace
Why is it important to establish healthy boundaries at work?
Establishing healthy boundaries in the workplace enables employees to stay on a productive track during the business day so that life at work and outside of work can both be rewarding.

Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
1. Seven Core Strengths of High Performers
At some point in our lives, most of us, have strived to be like the high performers, be it a top
notch corporate leader, or some other professional like an elite sportsman, a famous author,
musician, political leader and the like. Consciously or without really knowing about it, most high
performers have a strategic action plan, which they put into action to excel in the project they
are handling, or the challenge they are facing. Seven of the core strengths that high performers
share in common are as follows.
1. Dream Big. High performers allow themselves to dream big. Note that the word allow is in
italics because, a lot of us put great ideas aside, thinking they are beyond our means. It can be
liberating to realize that the only person who can truly determine what each of us can achieve is
our own selves. Just as it is in the nature of others to tell us what we can and cannot do, it is our
right to determine and decide our limits for ourselves!
2. Great Planners. High performers might be absentminded and messy when it comes to
scheduling other activities, but are absolutely determined when it comes to the project of their
passion. For instance, a sportsman will always make sure he has ample time for practices, an
author would like to schedule ample time to dwell and plan on new ideas, etc.
3. Absolute Focus. High performers are so passionate about the job or task at hand, that they
can often keep working at it with absolute focus, to the point that they even lose track of time.
The work in hand becomes more than work or project and it engages their entire current
conscious thought and action process. This also creates a deep sense of satisfaction when the
project is successfully concluded.
4. Perfectionists: Most if not all high performers are perfectionists. They keep working, trying
and improving, till they satisfy their own internal standards of achievement. This can be
frustrating for others around them, and even lengthen the duration of the project, but high
performers seldom care!
5. Challenge themselves. This is almost like a natural extension of the ability to dream big. High
performers love to constantly challenge themselves and attain new heights of achievement. A
lot is said at present times about challenging oneself in terms of "stepping out of the comfort
zone". Challenging oneself can also be seen as a means of continuous learning. It prevents us
from getting stagnated.
6. Hard work and Perseverance. No matter how talented one is, there is no substitute for hard
work and the perseverance to never give up! These are an absolute must to have quality for the
high performers and ultimately helps them to reach new levels of soaring success.
7. Rising above the Fear of Failure. It is human to be afraid to fail and instead of ignoring the
notion, the high performers device ways to rise above their fear, for instance, by letting the fear
2. of failure make them work extra hard. One way to overcome the fear of failure could be to think
of the worst consequences that might happen if we fail. Then to compare that to the loss that
might occur if we do not at least give the project a fair try.For instance, imagine if Mozart
decided not to compose music fearing what others would think if he failed!
These are some of the core attributes that strengthen and support the high performers to
achieve the goals that they aspire to meet or exceed. It may seem overwhelming at first, but
some of the qualities are easy to cultivate. It can start with some mindful introspection about
what we really want to achieve in life and then giving it an honest, whole hearted and dedicated
chance to fulfill. Planning well to integrate our passion or projects into our schedules would help
and finally having the perseverance to fearlessly work hard till their completion would show our
commitment. Last but not the least, there is nothing as brave and liberating as honest, hard
work towards fulfilling our dreams. So the question is that are we ready to learn from the high
performers and give our dreams the wings to fly?
