Setting up GetDrip to work with Email and WordPress

GetDrip is an email
marketing platform or
also called a marketing
automation software.

It is used for capturing
email addresses of
potential customers.

It allows you to set up
campaigns designed to
increase conversion.

It also enables you to
track customer
engagement to your
products or campaigns.

To start reaping the
benefits of using
GetDrip

go to:
https://www.getdrip.com

Upon opening GetDrip, this is the
first page you’ll see.

This is a sample workflow of an
email campaign.

Scroll down some more and you’ll
see an option for a free trial.

Click on “Try Drip”.

A page of options for the GetDrip
after the free trial will open.

For this example we’ll select
“Starter”.

Account creation box will open.

Fill in with the required data and
then click “Next Step”.

A pop-up box for payment will
open.

Fill in with the necessary credit
card info and click “Start Using
Drip”.

Another box will open. Once
again, fill with required info

Click “Next Step”.

Additional questions will appear.
Answer, then click “Next Step”.

A pop-up box will open
instructing you to Install a
Javascript.

The “JavaScript Snippet” is
needed to integrate
GetDrip and WordPress.

Click “WordPress”.

An instruction for installing to
WordPress appears.

Now we need to install
GetDrip plugin to
WordPress.

Open WordPress Log In Page and
type username and password.

Click “Log In”.

On Dashboard, select
“Appearance”.

Next, click “Plugins”.

Click “Add New”.

Add Plugins Page opens.

Find the search bar.

Type in GetDrip.

Select this one from the choices
that appear.

Click “Install Now”.

Select “Plugin” on the WordPress
dashboard.

Click “Activate Plugin”.

Then go to “Settings”.

WordPress will ask for the
Account ID from GetDrip.

But since we already have a
“GetDrip Account”.

Let’s go back and
complete the previous
instruction to “Install
Javascript Snippet”

After installing and
activating “Email
Marketing by GetDrip”.

On Drip Settings, click “Already
have an account”.

What you need to do is to put the
“Account ID” from GetDrip.

So, go back to your
GetDrip account.

On the upper right corner, look
for “Settings”

Click “Site Setup”.

Site Setup opens with below info.

Look for the “Account ID” on this
section.

Copy the “Account ID”.

Go back to WordPress.

On Drip Settings.

Paste the account ID.

Then, click “Save Changes”.

It will indicate “Settings
saved”.

Installing the code will
enable Drip to track
subscriber activity.

We can now start
creating a funnel or
drip campaign.

On GetDrip

Click “Set up my account”.

But first, we need to change the
“Default Email” to comply with
DMARC policy

Once you click on “Go to
account settings”

You will be asked to change this
default gmail email address

For this example I replaced it with
a “Google Business email”

DMARC policy requires
the use of a business
email.

For this tutorial I used
a Google Business
Email.

Google Business Email
charges for a
subscription but there
is a 30 day free trial
which you may initially
use.

Create Professional or
Business Email in
Google Apps for Work.

Go to: https://apps.google.com/

Select “Start Free Trial”.

This pop-up box opens.

Fill-in with the necessary info.
Click “Next”.

This page opens.

Select this if you already have a
domain name.

Type the domain name.

Click “Next”.

This pop-up box opens.

Type in the required info.

Click “Accept and sign up”.

While the account is being set
up…

Instructions for setting up the
app opens.

Click “Start”.

An option for adding people
opens.

Type in the people you wish to
add

and click “Add”.

Then, click “Next”.

You now need to verify
your domain and set
up the email.

There are many
options to accomplish
this, but I find the
“html verification”
easier.

Verify domain by means of the
“Download the HTML Verification
File”.

While the file is downloading…

Once download is complete, click
“I downloaded the HTML
verification file”.

Instructions for uploading the
HTML file to your website
appears.

This page opens.

Click “Start”.

You will be instructed to log in to
your domain site.

Follow the instruction by logging
in to your domain HostGator.

Go back to the
verification page

and click “I have successfully
logged in”.

You will be given this next
instruction.

Go to your domain site and scroll
down to find the zone edit.

Click on “Advanced DNS Zone
Editor”.

Go back to the verification page
and copy the code.

Go to HostGator and find “Add a
Record”.

Type in “TXT” and paste the
“HTML code”.

You need to type the domain
name.

Click “Add Record”.

You also need to put a TTL value.

HostGator will say that it has to
be a positive integer.

Put in the value “3600”.

Once again, click “Add
Record”.

It will notify while it is adding the
record.

When you scroll down to the zone
file records, the code will appear.

On the verification page, click “I
added the TXT verification
record”.

Next, click on “I saved the TXT
verification record”.

It will confirm that the TXT
verification was saved.

Click “Verify Domain and Set Up
Email”.

A confirmation that domain is
verified

Click “Next”.

You will receive this notification.
Click “Continue”.

Log in to your google business
email account.

It will open on “Admin console”.

Click “Start Setup”.

It will indicate that domain is
verified successfully.

Select “Add Users”.

After verifying the
domain name and
setting up the email.

Go back to Getdrip.

Go to “Settings”.

You will be required to enter a
postal address.

Type your “Postal Address”.

You will also need to change this
section if you initially used a
gmail email.

Click “Learn More”.

This is the DMARC policy
explained.

Change the “Default From Email”
to your new Google Business
Email.

Click “Save Settings”.

The GetDrip dashboard will open.

You need to connect
API.

Open “Thrive Dashboard” on your
WordPress Site.

Click “API Connections Manage
Connections”.

“Add new connection” will
open. Click on it

to reveal a menu. Select
“Drip”.

You will be asked for a Client ID
and an API Token.

Go to GetDrip.

This is the client ID on the
URL. Copy it.

Still on GetDrip, select “Settings”
and go to “My User Settings”.

This page opens. Copy the “API
Token”.

Go back to WordPress and paste
the Client ID and API Token.

Click “Connect”.

Et Voila! API Connection is now
ready.

You have successfully
integrated Email and
WordPress to Getdrip!
