Senior Year Essay
Embarking on the task of crafting a "Senior Year Essay" can be a daunting endeavor, laden with
a unique set of challenges and emotional intricacies. As a culmination of one's academic journey,
this essay demands introspection, retrospection, and a delicate balance between nostalgia and
anticipation for the future.
The difficulty lies not just in the technical aspects of essay writing but in capturing the essence of
an entire senior year. The challenge is to distill a multitude of experiences, growth, friendships,
and lessons into a coherent narrative that resonates with both personal significance and broader
universal themes.
Attempting to convey the emotional rollercoaster of senior year, from the excitement of
impending freedom to the bittersweet farewells, requires a careful selection of words and a
nuanced approach to storytelling. There's the risk of veering into sentimentality or clichГ©,
necessitating a constant awareness of tone and authenticity.
Moreover, the process of self-reflection can be a double-edged sword. Unearthing the moments
that defined the senior year often involves revisiting both triumphs and challenges, requiring a
certain level of vulnerability and introspective honesty. This can be emotionally taxing, as it
requires confronting personal growth, failures, and the evolution of one's identity.
The essay must strike a balance between the personal and the universal, connecting individual
experiences to broader themes that resonate with a diverse audience. Crafting a narrative that
transcends the specificities of one person's senior year and touches upon shared human
experiences is no small feat.
In addition to the emotional complexity, there's the technical aspect of essay writing –
structuring thoughts coherently, maintaining a compelling flow, and adhering to the conventions
of academic writing. This task demands meticulous attention to detail, revising and refining the
prose to ensure clarity and impact.
In the end, the difficulty of writing a "Senior Year Essay" goes beyond the surface-level
challenge of assembling words on a page. It's an exploration of identity, a reckoning with the
passage of time, and an attempt to encapsulate a transformative period in a few pages.
Successfully navigating these challenges requires a blend of introspection, writing skill, and an
understanding of the delicate balance between personal narrative and universal resonance.
For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any writing challenges, there are resources

Extended Stereotypes
Anything but Average
The baby blue ribbon draped around my horse s neck tells the crowd that I am the
tenth best junior dressage rider in the country. Don t confuse this with some fantasy, I
did not reign supreme nor top the field of competitors I faced during the weekend in
Chicago, Illinois at the Festival of Champions horse show. However, I stood proud
with my lowly score of 63.7 percent. Seven percent off the winner, which as far as
my sport goes equates to the difference between an A and a C on a math test.
In layman s terms, dressage means riding patterns on a horse. I could share the ideas
of flying changes, extended trots, and half passes, but these seemingly alien concepts
would lose most people. Above all, I trick people, including ... Show more content on

In addition to a minimum qualifying standard, I had to prove myself in front of the
panel of five international judges at Junior Olympics before I would receive an
invitation to compete at the National Championships. The criteria seemed
backwards, but I had no other options. My trainer worked Paddington and I long
and hard all year up until the week before Junior Olympics. However, the four days
leading up to championships I instead spent in an arm sling due to a conveniently
placed contusion to my arm that prevented me from riding. I bummed around the
isles of the barn, letting anxiety fill my head at the lack of preparation I felt I had
in those final days. The morning of our six hour trek I rode for the first time with
little to no pain and continued to hope the worst had ended. We made it to Kentucky
and, with my arm finally free of the sling, pulled out a qualifying score to allow me

A Brief Note On Peer And Peer Networks
Peer to Peer networks are one of the most popular of all social media platforms. A
peer to peer network also called p2p, which we will use throughout this
investigation, is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or
workloads between peers (Peer to peer, 2014.)[2] The interest in p2p has steadily
been growing since the introduction of Napster in 1999. There are several different
types of p2p networks, platforms and architectures which we will discuss. The p2p
networks while improving still suffer from structural and security vulnerabilities,
we will examine these issues and discuss possible improvements. Discussion Peer
to Peer file sharing networks are dangerous and pose many threats to those who
choose to use them. While we know that p2p traffic consumes almost 70% of all
internet traffic and in March 2014 there were 31.7 million unique ip s using these
networks (P2P Still Ranks, 2014.) These networks are popular for making popular
and copyrighted content available, much of the activity that takes place on these
networks is either sensitive or illegal which is why developers have gone a long way
to make these networks and their users as difficult to track and anonymous as
possible. Current p2p software such as BitTorrent use protocols that make it very
difficult to determine where traffic is going or coming from (not difficult enough
though.) While malicious activity and attacks through these networks has been
improved upon in recent years, p2p
Character Of Baby Kochamma
Navomi Ipe, otherwise known as Baby Kochamma, is an antagonist in the novel.
Growing up in a traditional family, she developed a strong belief that their
practices, the caste and marriage, are correct and are meant to be followed, strictly.
A materialistic and selfish person but a smart one. Shaped by tradition, Baby
Kochamma dislikes Ammu and her children as it is implied in this line words could
not describe Baby Kochamma s outrage. (22). Most of the timetaking glee on their

When I read the book, I thought that he could be a father like figure for Rahel and

In the first 30 40 pages of the novel, he was spouting words with deep meaning,
philosophical, enchanting. It attracted the twins, listening to him for his next

hatred or dislike for his sister or his niece. This shows that he has a different point
of view than Baby Kochamma or Mammachi. However, though he does not act like

Whether it was due to their fight or it is what he thinks, the thought of him being a

The Day Of Deliverance, By John Adams
As we Americans approach this forthcoming Independence Day, I think of our
country and how privileged we are to have the rights we do today. Although laws
and other things of that sort have been passed for years, we continue to acquire
more liberation to this day. Two hundred and thirty nine years ago, on July 4th of
1776, it was a day of commemoration concerning the Declaration of Independence as
our nation was finally free at last from Great Britain s government. On a day near the
beginning of July, John Adamswrote the following passage to his wife, Abigail: The
second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of
America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as
the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of
deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized
with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and
illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward
forever more. ( Letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams, 3 July 1776, Had a

declared sentiment saying that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations was

Star Formation Research Paper
Stars
Introduction
Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be
millions of times larger than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical
objects and are the building blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of
plasma are responsible for the creation of heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and
oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early universe. Most of the elements
found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we are literally made
of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually
looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study
of the birth, life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today.

NGC 6240 is a super galaxy formed by the collision of 2 smaller galaxies. Since
every galaxy has a supermassive black hole at the center of it, the NGC 6240
galaxy has 2 black holes at the center. Scientists are predicting that someday these
two black holes would collide. There are two different outcomes of 2 black holes
colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are spinning at very high speeds
and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will be
slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The
second, more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer
together until they can t escape each others gravity and eventually become one,
when this happens the resulting black hole is known as a Binary Black Hole. The
energy emitted from the collision would be so great it would send ripples through
the space time fabric of the Universe. These ripples are known as Gravitational
Amazon s Product And Service
Amazon is using different operating models to provide products and service to
customers. There are three distinct models that Amazon.com offers, each with a
different supply chain. The three models are Amazon.com as seller, Amazon.com as
intermediary, and Amazon.com as full service e commerce provider.
Amazon as Seller
The basic Amazon sales channel is the web store front end which serves as their core
business. Customers go to the Amazon.com website, browse products, and place
orders. Amazon is responsible for all front end customer relationships and back end
logistics in this model. Once an order is placed, Amazon decides which internal
distribution center or drop shipper should be responsible for shipping the order to the
customers. After that, Amazon will responsible for coordinating the fulfillment of the
order. When products are sourced from its internal distribution centers, then Amazon
start to picks, packs, and ships the order. When products are sourced from a drop
shipper, such like a book distributor, the distributor packages the products by using
the Amazon box delivers it to the customer (Maltz et al., 2004). This model requires
Amazon to maintain or purchase inventory for immediate selling. In this model,
Amazon owns the customer relationship, provides the technology, owns or purchases
the inventory, and executes the logistics as well.
Besides that, another part of Amazon as a seller model includes the Syndicated Stores
program, which allows third party
Descartes Surprise Ending in Discourse on Method
In one of the most influential books in the history of Western philosophy, Rene
Descartes outlines a method mental reasoning, which he applies to a wide variety of
fields and intellectual endeavors. For the first few books of Discourse on the
Method, Descartes outlines first how the method came about as he was a pupil at
schooland had the realization that he was not actually learninganything important. He
was therefore motivated to discover what truly constituted learning, knowledge, and
truth. The philosopher can do this by doubting everything first. By doubting, he can
use reason to discern what is real from unreal.
Doubting is the focus of Book Two of Discourse on the Method. The method that
Descartes applies to fields like geometry, which the author points out in Book Two.
His doubting is more personal in Book Three. The surprise ending to Discourse on
the Method comes when suddenly Descartes is no longer doubting something. He
spends so much time in the first three books on doubting information, and letting go
of his beliefs, that when he launches into his cogito ergo sum assertion, it comes to
the reader as a great surprise.
The surprise ending is that Descartes finds the first thing he cannot doubt, which is
the fact that he exists. His existence is something that cannot be doubted, or else it
would create a metaphysical conundrum: it is not possible to even think about
doubting without first existing. The smallest thought cannot come from nothingness,
and so,

After Harper s arrival, the two began decorating the living and kitchen spaces with
mixed furniture and knickknacks from the Hertel district (Queenseyes, 2007)
giving it an authentic home like vibe. Addie s house is a two bedroom, modern
Victorian style townhouse. The exterior, painted burgundy, with white trimmings
around the roof and windows, has a small accented porch in the front of the house.
The home can almost mirror that of the houses on Trinity Place, that according to
LaChiasa (2002), is a narrowly hidden and overlooked area of Allentown whose
quaint, Victorian inspired variances remain missed by those who are unaware of
its existence. The secondary location within Addie s house is Harper s bedroom on
the second floor. Harper s bedroom is a nice moderate size, big enough for a large
standing dresser, a small desk and chair with a twin sized bed in the center of the
room. She and Addie spent two days painting her room together, purple with green
trimmings. Harper really likes this room and all of the things Addie has bought her
since she s moved in, but she still keeps most of the clothes Addie has given her in
two large boxes in the corner of the room. The most valuable thing in her entire
bedroom is a small, worn shoebox she keeps underneath her bed with a faded photo
of her parents and a set of magnets that were a gift from her father. The fictional

Black Swan Green Analysis
In Black Swan Green, I was particularly struck by Jason and his complicated
relationship with himself. Throughout the first few chapters of the novel, Jason
shows himself as someone who can be easily influenced by the darkness and
uncertainty that surrounds him. Through inner personalities, as well as the
undeniable influence of society and culture, Jason s true character is often repressed
by his environment and inner cautions. What struck me about the novel, and Jason in
particular, were the moments in which Jason s true character was revealed amidst the
conflict in his life. Communities have an extremely strong influence in our lives, and
they help shape our behavior, but no amount of external or internal influence can
change who we are.
Communities are a basis of human life, and they have a strong potential to affect
our behavior. Many of Jason s priorities and decisions are responses to the social
implications they hold in his community. For example, Jason decides to mention the
cotton cherry knocking technique and try it out on Mr. Blake in order to impress his
friends and Dawn Madden (Mitchell 119). As the cherry knocking ensues, Jason
regrets doing it when he sees the conflict that it creates. During the fighting and
yelling between Pluto Noak and Mr. Blake, Jason thinks, That my cherry knocking d
led to this was horrifying (Mitchell 122). In a social environment that revolves around
conflict, Jason s true dislike for conflict shines through and we get
Betrayal In Mean Girls And The Play Julius Caesar
Lying and betrayal tie together the movie Mean Girls and the play Julius Caesar.
In the movie, Cady lied to her friend, Regina George, and betrayed her by
sabotaging important things in her life, such as her boyfriend, her body, and her
friends. In the play, Brutus lied to and betrayed his best friend Caesar. Brutus
stabbed Caesar and killed him for Rome. The movie Mean Girls and the playJulius
Caesar are tied together by many differences, similarities, and important lessons.
One important difference found between the play and the movie is the time period.
Caesar is the leader of Rome with a group of senators that are his servants while
Regina is the leader of the high school Plastics which is a group of three girls:
Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. Everybody in the high school loves and knows
everything about the Plastics and the girls look up to them. Caesar gets killed by
Brutus for the sake of the people of Rome and Regina s life gets ruined for the sake

Jealousy took a role in the play when Cassius was explaining to Brutus how, in
Cassius s opinion, Caesar is not better than everybody. He gave examples on the
time Caesar was swimming in a lake with Cassius and nearly drowned, getting
saved by Cassius. Cassius encouraged Brutus to kill Caesar because he thought
Brutus was just as good, if not better, than Caesar.. The ending of Julius Caesar is
important because it shows that not everything results in how people always want it
to. Brutus and Cassius both commit suicide in the end of the play. The importance in
the end of the play is the ending isn t always how you want it to be. Before Cassius
and Brutus split up, Brutus was explaining to Cassius that he would never kill
himself. In the end, Brutus killed himself because he didn t want to continue without
his best friend,
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Kevin Hart s First Date
As the people are watching the television, millions of dollars are used in the
commercials. All commercials include big companies like Bud Light, M Ms, and
Doritos. These advertisers spend significant amounts of money, so that consumers
will be able to buy their products. One of the commercial that stands out to the me is
the Hyundai Genesiswith Kevin Hart entitled First Date. The makers of the
commercial use a variety of techniques to persuade people to buy a Hyundai Genesis
because of a special feature that other cars don t have. By persuading people, the
author has a purpose, audience to make this commerical. Also they use rational

One mile radius does not help anybody that is lost or the car breaks down. This
would mean that parents have to be near their children s car to figure out the location
of the car. Also, another argument that a consumer could bring up is that parents do
not have Smartphones or Smart watches to use as a device in order to use the special
feature of the Hyundai Genesis. Even though they are special features in this car, the
commercial does not tell consumers if they are provided with a Smartphone or
SmartWatch.
Overall, this commercial might give fathers ideas on what car is the right one for
their child. Logos, ethos and pathos can be found in this Super Bowl commercial.

Taking a Look at Human Factors
Human factors
Human factors are an accumulation of human performance and behaviour.
Normally it is viewed in a negative aspect, although it can also be very positive,
such as flexibility. Human factors is very complex, that is why there are many types
of model to describe human factors. One of these models is the SCHELL model ,
this model is used by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
What this means is that the model gives an idea of the overview of human factors.
The SCHELL stands for:
S = software (procedures, policy and other aspects of work design)
C = Culture (organisational and cultural influencing interactions)
H = Hardware (equipment, tools and other technology)
E = Environment (environmental aspects in which work occurs)
L = Liveware (human aspects of work)
L = Liveware (the communication between co workers at work)
This model puts an emphasis how depended each individual behaviour or action is for
how the system is shaped. Any failures and/or mishap between the components can
lead to chaotic situations.
As a military organisation or as an approved organisation, regular human factors skill
based training programs must be offered. Also know as Maintenance Error
Management (MEM) for maintenance personnel. The training should be based on
providing safety critical staff with non technical skills to manage consequences and
prevention of human errors. This is to emphasise that making errors is normal and
expected however the consequences are just as

different factors that influence consumer buying behavior. Retail environmental
factors is one of these factors. This literature review seeks to identify the retail

In addition, a manual search was conducted in order to find other relevant studies
and, from this process, 2 studies was found relevant. Overall, 9 studies were included
in this review.
Thematic analysis
After a process of individual analysis of the selected studies, the articles were grouped
together according to recurrent themes that emerged from the findings. In this
literature review, three major themes were identified which include; window displays,
music and shop crowding.
Finding
Window displays
In relation to window display, three studies reported that there is a positive
relationship between consumers buying behavior and window display (Ali Hasnu
2013, Karbasivar Yarahmadi 2011 and Tendai Crispen 2009). According to Ali Hasnu
(2013, p.7) consumers buying decision is influenced by the physical attractiveness of
store displays. Consumers develop their first impressions by the store displays which
emotionally attract them to the product and buy that product (Ali Hasnu 2013, p.7).
Similarly, Tendai Crispen (2009, p. 107) reported that attractive window displays
increases sales as consumers purchase unplanned products. Moreover, the finding of
Karbasivar Yarahmadi (2011) study indicated that window display has strong effect
on encouraging consumers to buying more and enjoying their shopping time. In order
to trigger shopping among consumers, store managers must ensure attractive store
displays (Ali Hasnu 2013, p. 7).
Night Shift
Napping during breaks on night shift: Critical care nurse managers perceptions is a
study by Dr. Marie P. Edwards and colleagues that explores the thoughts and opinions
of nurse managers on nurses taking naps during the night shift. This article explores a
highly debated topic in nursing that has both risks and benefits to both the nurseand
the patient.
The purpose of this research study was to explore the perception and experiences of
critical care nurse managers with their staff s napping practices during the night shift.
This study uses a quantitative method to analyze results from a survey on this topic.
As a quantitative study, it would be expected that there would be an independent and
a dependent variable. However, this study does ... Show more content on

One concept that is explored is the various sources of evidence that shows that
brief naps can improve alertness and performance and enhance safety of not only
nurses, but other people who work shiftwork. They also explored literature that
supported the fact that sleep inertia or feeling groggy after a nap was one potential
drawback to napping on the night shift. The researchers also reviewed studies that
showed that the effectiveness of naps depended on their length. According to these
studies, ideally the best nap is not too long but not too short. However, none of the
other works reviewed by these authors mentioned anything about managers. While
these articles do highlight the potential risks and benefits of sleeping on the night
shift, it is unclear of how these studies related to the variable that is being studied in
this study. This study does not provide a clear conceptual definition of what
manager s think. On the positive side, the literature review does give possible
explanation of various reasons why a manager might be for or against napping. As
stated above, there is only one variable so the literature review cannot make explicit
the relationship between the two variables or place them in a theoretical framework.
The researchers do acknowledge that there are several gaps in the literature. For
example, they commentated that no study had determined the optimal nap time in
critical care settings and that
Philosophy Is Completely Different From Psychology
Philosophy is one of the most interesting subject. Many people assume and confuse it
with psychology. Philosophy is completely different from psychology. Psychology is
how a person feels about a topic, while philosophy is how you ought to feel about the
topic. The purpose of philosophy is to understand an argument, not emotional, but
logically. Only by truly understanding an argument, one can improve his/her thinking.
Within philosophy, there are many ethical theories. Such theories include: the
Divine Command Theory, Hedonism, Desire Theory, Ethical Relativism, and much
more. In this term paper, I will discuss which theory I believe is the strongest and
which theory I believe is the weakest. Regardless, there is no perfect theory. Each
theory is without flaws. I believe act utilitarianism is the strongest ethical theory
presented in class. Act utilitarianism is when, according to Russ Shafer Landau, acts
are right just because they maximize the overall amount of well being in the world .
On the other hand, actions are wrong if they do not maximize the overall amount of
well being in the world. Because the main concept of utilitarianism is to improve the
overall well being, that concept determines which actions are considered right or
wrong. Act utilitarianism is a part of a family of theories that are similar to
consequentialism and utilitarianism (neither act nor rule utilitarianism). This family
of theories are all similar in a way that the main idea is to improve and

People,
Relationships refers to bonds between two or more people, this can be romantic,
friendly, family or work related. People seek relationships because they must fulfill
their needs. One of our basic needs is to feel secure. We feel secure and safe when
we are with someone, for example, at night I don t like to be alone because I feel
unsafe but when I m with someone this feeling disappears it just gives you a
sensation of safeness. Also, people may decide to form relationships because of a
common interest, they might be studying the same subject or pursuing the same
goals in life so united their probability of making it are greater. Another factor can
be love, the need of physical touch or the need of affection can be factors of forming

The second reason is that it helps us connect with the other person, it builds trust

it is more likely that the other person will listen to us and will approve are

this has ruined this rising developing country. Hugo Chavez governed the country
since 1990 s until his death since then he has done everything that he thinks it s
right and by doing so has silent the voices of the Venezuelans. The country is
currently governed by his successor Nicolas Maduro and the situation has gone
worst, the country can t even afford hospitals with the essential medical supplies.
Maduro follows the same strategies as Chavez not listening to anybody and just
doing what he thinks is right for the country. Venezuela could have been a strong
country if it hadn t been for Chavez lack of listening skills. Listening means not just
understanding the message, but also understanding the emotions of the speaker. In
ordinary listening we hear the words and thinking Where do I agree? Where do I
disagree? and What am I going to say in response? In simple terms the spotlight is
on us and not in the speaker, however, in real listening the spotlight is on the
speaker, we put our self in their shoes, we just don t listen to the words in
Egypt Economic and Social Issues
Bread, Water and Birth Control in Egypt
In September 2003, in an interview with Al Ahram, the Egyptian government
newspaper, in response to a question about economic problems with a reference to a
current shortage of bread President Mubarak of Egypt stated, once again, publicly and
forcefully that rapid population growth in Egypt was the primary cause of the country
s economic and social problems. He added that the country was doing what it could
to solve these problems, but that the government could only do so much. Implicit in
his announcement was a patriotic call to the people to have smaller families. If the
President of Egypt speaks out publicly about population growth, it must be a grave
concern of state officials. Indeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

For 75 years, Egypt has paid attention to its population growth. A.G.Zohry recounts
the evolution of policy in his 1997 publication put out by the Cairo Demographic
Center: Population Policies and Family Planning. In the 1930s, efforts consisted of
awareness building and promotion of traditional methods by non governmental
agencies. In 1937, an official Fatwa (declaration) was published stating that the
Islamic faith is not against the use of family planning. Government programs began
in earnest in 1953 with the establishment of the National Commission for Population
Matters and in 1962 the National Charter proclaimed, Population increase constitutes
a dangerous obstacle to raising the standard of living for all. From 1965 1972 the
government got involved in the Family Planning Services through government state
health and social services outreach. From 1973 1984 these services became more
organized and related to education, realizing that a demand for their services would
be tied to the education of women. In the last 20 years, the Ministry of Health has

The United States Health Care Public Safety Essay
Background The United States health care public safety net system largely
provides healthcare services to the uninsured and the under insured. However, this
vulnerable population still cannot access adequate care and compared to the
privately insured population, the uninsured receive less preventative and specialty
health care services. The need for safety net providers to improve the delivery and
access to care has led to increased funding through the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as well the expanded community health centers
(CHCs) (HealthCare.gov, 2010). Following the passage of the PPACA and
increased federal support for the CHCs, the American public health care system
witnessed significant changes. Some of these changes include increased access to
healthcare, restructurings of private health coverages and containing Medicaid and
Medicaid (). One of the key provisions of the PPACA was to extend health care
coverage to the uninsured population in the country. Among the most affected are the
safety net providers whose sole objective is to provide healthcare services to the
uninsured Americans. These providers of last resort have played a critical role in
ensuring that even the most vulnerable persons access basic healthcare. Nevertheless,
as previous research has shown, access to preventative and specialty care among the
uninsured still remains a challenge. Very few studies have identified how safety net
providers have impacted maternal and infant

the American ship The Rights of Man, a merchant ship to the British ship. This
impressment was common for the time period this novella is set in which is around
1797. Billy packs his belongings after finding out he has been impressed and
without a protest and follows the boarding officer of the Bellipotent Lieutenant
Ratcliffe to his new job. He proves very eager to have the new job of foretopman on
this new ship.
The author Herman Melville is trying to use the literary technique of a Christ figure
for Billy Budd, Sailor. To explain something deeper about the character s personality,
relationship to other characters, and relationship to the overall themes. Christ figure
is a literary technique that the author uses to draw allusion between their characters
and biblical Jesus. Billy is used as Christ Figure in this novella to show that people
throughout history are killed unjustly. Billy Budd in this novella is accused of

Magna Carta In Early America
The magna Carta had a huge effect on the beginning of the United states, it is
referred to as one of the most important legal documents in history. It was an
outline for the early Americans to live by. It was the first time a king didn t have
complete power and had rules that everyone had to follow. It was an effort to
check in on the king s powers, known as due process of law, and to strike a balance
between people s rights and common good. The Magna Cartaprevents any ruler being
aggressive towards citizens and gives everyone protection of the law. This document
was signed in 1215 in Runnymede, England. Although the magna Carta originated
in England, it was used in early America, and helped them develop as a nation. The
Magna Carta plays a big role in the development of the United states because it made
fairness in the law, provided economic rights, and it struck a balance between rights

The Fifth amendment says that, no one should be deprived of life, liberty or

government for impacting citizens in an abusive way, a nation is not truly free
without the protection of the law. Due process ensures that the government are
forced to act in a legal way before anyone is stripped of life, liberty, or property . No
legal action can be taken without a fair trial, if this was not a rule, there would be
thousands of innocent people locked up, meaning that the US would not be truly free.
Due process prevents irrational things such as lynching suspected criminals. Even the

able to make decisions on experiences that they themselves could not understand.
This really raised a lot of questions to me about who is in power and how big of a
problem it is the those in power are not more diverse. We have struggled in society
and have imprisoned so many behind stone walls of racism, sexism, and homophobia
(Rudacille 140).
It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were
acceptable, and not punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not
even safe in private. After the decision in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S.
Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had a chance to move
forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not disappear.
By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it
also declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made
it more acceptable and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to
talk about and dispute. Not only was it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court
thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual Status Law, which
made being gay a crime.
In writing this paper, I went back to the very beginning of our discussions, and
looked at my very first discussion post on the Stonewall Uprising. I realized, that
while we did do a lot of court case focused work, that I still learned a lot even outside
of these cases. I wanted to post both my
Why Television Is The Extension Of Human Senses Along
With...
Introduction In this day and age, television is seen as the most useful technology in
the world where we get enough information, entertainment and knowledge. People
believe that it is more preferable to have a television rather than to watch a live play
in the theatre due to the freedom of relaxation and high level of participation. In this
essay, Marshall McLuhan s technology is the extension of human senses along with
Walter Benjamin s reproduction of art would be analyzed. The main of this essay is
to analyze two theoretical concepts and compare them to one another in relation to
televisionand also how these two theoretical concepts would approach television as a
technology. Television is a machine with a screen, which is used for... Show more

Then in 1906, Philo Taylor Farnsworth who was twenty one years old at that time
invented electrical Television on September 7th, 1927. During that time, electrical
television was still black and white; later on colour television was first introduced in
the United States in 1953. Television moved from just news and silent films to soap
operas, cartoons, music videos and other types of informational and entertainment
things which influences us positively and negatively.
Theories
Marshall McLuhan, who was a Canadian communication theorist, was very much
interested in technology and how it shapes the advanced modern society. His very
famous theory was the medium is the message which means that the resource used or
mode through which they are presenting shows the message, not really the content.
This theory then leads to how technology is seen as an extension to human senses.
McLuhan stated, Media have powerful effects on societies. Moreover, media become
extensions of ourselves; extensions of our human senses (Laughey, 2010, p. 33). Just
like the way our eyes see, our nose smell, our skin feels and our other senses have
their function, McLuhan emphasis the fact that technology is the extension of our
psychological, social and intellectual (inner) senses. In relation to Television as a
technology, McLuhan would agree that technology is an extension to our human sense
due to the fact that in recent days it is something that is used everyday. Humans use
The Ultimate Test For Any Idea
EPR Paradox
The ultimate test for any idea, ranging from abstract philosophical concepts to
objective scientific theories, is the reality. What makes us to believe whether
something is right or wrong is how much that thing is compatible with reality. In
physics, reality is the direct result of an experiment; thus, we are forced to think
about reality as observable reality . In fact, the distinction between reality and
observable reality is extremely important, since as a consequence of this
distinction, a logically correct theory may not necessary be correct while a logically
non satisfying theory may be completely correct (if it is also able to predict the
result of a series of experiments). Reality can encompasses any logical idea whether
observable or unobservable, but observable reality consist of only observable
phenomena whether or not they seem logical. In the case of Einstein s gedanken
experiment concerning Quantum Mechanics known as EPR or EPR Paradox we face
the exact same difficulty; either taking EPR s word for believing in logically
desirable physical explanations, or just relying on experiments results and their
consistency with quantum mechanics which are far from being logically satisfying.
In this paper, I shall tackle both EPR gedanken experiment and the results of an
experiment that contrasts EPR logical statements in order to see if I can address the
EPR paradox once for all. In Can Quantum Mechanical Description of Physical

Sweatshops Have Been Scrutinized Around The World Essay
Sweatshops are work environments that possess three major characteristics: long
hours, low pay, and unsafe or unhealthy working conditions (Childress, 2014).
Sweatshops have been scrutinized around the world and have been around for a
very long time. For a period of time it was called slavery because even some skilled
slaves earned some money. Sweatshops are still thriving, even in today s global
economy. It is the corporations, stakeholders, and a global responsibility to ensure
sweatshops go away forever, but is it possible? Toyota was accused of such practices
back in 2002 and today claim that they no longer practice voluntary overtime.

As a solid business, Toyota should have realized they needed to hire more people
to work, not force the current employees to work more. If Toyota would have done
this, they would have not only championed new world thinking, but also would
have created more jobs to hire more people thus helping lower unemployment in
those countries. Corporations need to be held accountable for making sure they do
not operate sweatshops. With such high demand for lower and lower prices,
companies are scrambling to try and beat out their competition. With this demand,
companies appear to be trying their ethics practices. Toyota was no different, they
were trying to keep the price of their vehicles down so that customers in the United
States would purchase them over domestic and other international brands. To
achieve this they were using the excuse of voluntary overtime, which was not
actually voluntary. Because the employees needed jobs, they worked all the hours
without getting paid extra. Part of the problem was cultural. Japanese believe they
are part of the organization and will do whatever is needed to not lose face for them
or the company. Also, Japan has a medium power index, indicating that people will
not usually question a manager; they will do what they are told (Beamer/Varner,
2010). Toyota needs to understand moral relativism, that all cultures have valid
principles. No one rule can apply everyone working in an organization, especially
large corporations.

Brian s Song is a touching story between two football players named Brian Piccolo
and Gale Sayers. They are both different in physical and emotional ways that affect
their personality. They start to hate each other but then they start to support each
other and have a never ending relationship that can only be broken by death. Overall
not only they affect one another with their relationship, they inspire others.
Brian Piccolo is the man with something always to talk about. He has social skills

head. Brian introduces himself to Gale and then Brian recalls him meeting Gale a

out that Brian will be his sleeping buddy causing lost of controversy over the
country. Kind of similar to the Little Rock incident. They get along with each other
even though there is some small bits of fighting in between it. Gale ends up getting
in trouble for talking while one of the coaches was speaking to the rest of the team.
Then they go have a couple football games against other teams, meet each others
family, etc.
The climax begins with Brian doing worse and worse with exercises during
practice. Also Gale breaks his knee. He later gets it fix by Brian(still getting more
ill) by using a fancy machine. Gale thanks Brian and then they train each other to
become better at the game. Brian ends up telling Gale that he feels like he is
pregnant which causes Brian s Friends, Team, and Family to worry about him. It is
later revealed that Brian is diagnosed with cancer. This causes the relationship
between Gale and Brian to get stronger. Gale knee is better and he keeps on
continuing winning games just for his friend

We are all people. We all have some things in common, and we also have our
separate ways. In A Letter Home and Waiting for Dan, there are many similarities
and many differences between the two protesters. But the similarities and
differences that stand out the most are as follows. First of all, in A Letter Home,
the protest only lasted one day. In paragraph two, the text states, Even before a shot
was fired yesterday... Shots were fired, and four students were killed, while nine
were injured. However, in Waiting for Dan, Dan had been gone for many months.
Dan boarded a bus in the middle of the summer... Now it s fall... (8 9). So there is a
difference in how long the protests lasted. Another difference in the two protesters is

A Brief Note On Transportation And Logistics Management
In the vast industry that is transportation and logistics management, has a lot of
influence on the economy of the United States. One of the reasons for the close
connection of the industry and U.S economy is because of globalization, and in the
content of this paper we will examine different segments of the industry, and how
they affect the economy in different ways. Addressing specific segments of the
industry tells us just how important each segment is to the economy, instead of
speaking of the industry in general. Throughout this research paper we will be
looking at five specific transportation and logistics operation within the industry. The
airlineindustry is very important to the many cities within the United States, creating a
number of jobs because of the ability that airports have to connect cities to the rest of
the world. Job created through the air transport systems that help boost a cities
economy is tourisms and airport jobs, which can help to transform a city. The cruise
shipindustry also help boost cities, which operates port of call for the cruises that
operate from them. Cruises also generates many jobs in the tourism sector as people
sometimes have to fly and overnight from different cities to board these cruises.
Another major factor that is affecting the industry is globalization and how it is able
to create jobs and help improve the economy. Other areas in the transportation and
logistics industry that has an affect on the economy is the overuse of

Belgian horses have small heads and thick, muscular necks. They have short legs
unlike the Clydesdale, but have the leg feathering similar to the Clydesdale. The
Belgians are usually seventeen hands tall, so similar to the Clydesdale. The colors
this breed is generally found in are chestnut and roan (Graphiq n.p.). The Shire
horse breed is also similar to the Clydesdale breed. It is also a type of draft horse
breed. One of the big differences is that the Shire horse breed stands approximately
21.2 hands tall. This is basically towering over the Clydesdale, which is
impressively tall. The Shire horses have slightly arched necks, but not as arched as
the Clydesdale. This neck makes them less attractive when pulling a cart. The Shires

Photo Based And Installation Art
Isabel, tell us about your beginning in photography. I earned a BFA from the
Pontificia Universidad CatГіlica in my hometown of Santiago de Chile; it was quite
the comprehensive program. I went in thinking I would do sculpture and came out
working in photo based and installation art. Though I was instructed in many
disciplines from painting to computer based and everything in between, the nature
of my practice determined that photo based was the most appropriate medium to
develop the concepts and ideas I was interested in exploring back then. A year later,
I attended grad school in Canada and obtained an MFA from the University of
Guelph. Currently, my practice encompasses the creation of photo based images,
video works, and three dimensional objects concepts manifests simultaneously
through a variety of mediums. How were The Weekend and Quantum Blink
created? The method employed in the creation of Quantum Blink is a variation from
that of The Weekend. The slicing is analog and is the result of direct in camera
interversions. There was a lot of experimentation with countless materials, and plenty
of trial an error before I could successfully achieve the results I was after. The
negative itself has the stripes, hence the irregularity on the edges and slight overlap
which becomes more apparent once the image is printed larger. While the temporal
distance between exposures in The Weekend reached up to seven months, in
Quantum Blink the lapse ranged from a few minutes to an

in a society of other people around you? Does one person think they can another s
perceptionof their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good in the eye

the beginning, by distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it

Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism.
Idealism is only things that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish
Bishop named George Berkeley view of idealism is ...though it were possible that
solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without the mind... yet how [could we]
know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason. (Rachels Rachels, 2012,
p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our knowledge of
sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in
the existence of physical objects that is a necessary connection between the
physical world and our ideas. Another approach is direct versus indirect realism,
which deals with the perception of our reality or mental state. Direct idealism
deals with common sense and with the facts of things; however, indirect idealism
is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of something with our idea
of an object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s story of the
Allegory of the Cave, and reality and appearance the same? In the story of the
Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following understanding of the Cave. The cave
is a world where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the captors cast shadows
on the wall and these shadows construct reality for the prisoners. One of the prisoners

Prostate cancer refers to the malignant growth of glandular cells located in the
prostate. Under normal circumstances these cells sit in the glands which are
responsible for the production of fluids that make up most of the semen in males
[2]. However once these cells lose their control, what happens is that they will
keep on growing until they become cancerous [2]. Ultimately this means that the
natural surrounding layers that did act like barriers for these cells are now broken
and therefore allows the spread of these malignant cells to other organs within the
body, particularly the bones and lymph nodes [2]. When this does take place the risk
of death also increases. At the age of 85, a man is said to have a 1 in 5 chances of
developing prostate cancer sometime in their life. The risk is said to double if a
male has a first degree relative who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Clinical features: Symptoms and signs
Every human body is slightly different in their own way and because of this reason
there are people who do not experience symptoms of prostate cancer [3].
Unfortunately Prostate cancer is a disease that does not give any warning signs
when it is growing. In most cases a male with prostate cancer does not receive any
specific symptoms of concerns; reason is that prostate cancer
The Dutch Republic
Introduction The Dutch republic came to be when part of the Netherlands separated
from Spanish rule in 1579 and gained international recognition in 1648. It was
characterized by its high population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its
early, high level of urbanization. From the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to
power comparable to even Britain and France. This was also the period of time when
world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name global trade. In fact,
the Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th century
was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age, trade, military, art, and science
flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc.
Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east
prospered. Then in the medieval period, the catholic western European states emerged
stronger than ever, causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs
eastern orthodox in Europe. Western Europe was made up of competitive states that
came to play major roles. The Dutch republic managed to become largely influential
and powerful through trade. As previously mentioned, competitiveness was and still
is a characteristic of Western Europe. Since the Dutch focused on ship building to
support the trade they were beginning to be a part of.
Through this time period emerged the Columbian exchange and some European
states also took an interest
Analysis Of Bowling For Columbine By Michael Moore
Just over a decade ago, Michael Moore spoke with former President George W. Bush,
who directed the film maker: Behave yourself, will ya? Go find real work.
Since the release of his anti gun documentary, Bowling for Columbine, and his best
selling books Stupid White Men and Dude, Where s My Country, Moore has
brought trouble for many authoritative figures in America affairs. With his
broadcast camera and blue collar persona, Michael Moore has raised eyebrows,
empowered voices and stretched the conceptions of politics and entertainment. So
much so that he has become a pagan symbol for the liberal left and a media power
of his own. As such a clever assembler of huge accusations, Moore s 2004
Fahrenheit 911, tries to try make sense of the political shamble that took place
following the 9/11 attacks.
Fahrenheit 9/11 depicts the fatal errors of an administration that was not duly elected
in the first place. Moore argues that, humiliated by their failure to bring Osama bin
Laden to justice, as well as by their own association with the wealthy Saudi Bin Laden
s, the Bush administration initiated a diversionary war against Saddam which had no
relevance to the threat of terrorism.
The documentary is founded on Moore s satirical and mischievous style of
filmmaking the title for one is a play on the Ray Bradbry novel, Fahrenheit 451, about
a totalitarian dystopia where reading and independent thought is outlawed. Through
selective editing, clips and graphics are weaved together

The Depth And Complexity Of Empathy
Most definitions of empathy are based on the same core idea empathy is the ability
to understand and identify someone else s thoughts and feelings, as if they were one
s own (wordreference online dictionary, 2016). Although it s been said there are
probably nearly as many definitions of empathy as people working on the topic. (de
Vignemont Singer, 2006, p.435) suggesting that there is no singular way to even
define empathy, let alone explain its impact on our behaviour. Due to the sheer depth
and complexity of empathy it s understandable that each discipline within psychology
presents it s own explanation for why we experience it, and how it can affect our
interaction with the world around us. Psychologists have been exploring empathy for
decades, in hope of gaining a complete grasp of what it means and how it can vary
between each person, therefore its important we look at different psychological
perspectives to try to understand it s many dimensions.
For a number of years empathy was difficult to measure, as there was limited basis of
empirical data. This changed with the progression of technology, as the biological
approach could then using brain imaging techniques to visually represent the activity
going on in the brain and biological psychologists could then research links between
the activity and behavioural traits like empathy. One way in which biological
psychology has helped us understand empathy as a complex trait is through
exploration of mirror neurons.
Evolution Of Whales Essay
Evolution of Whales
Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the extensive existence of the number, variety and genetic variation of
different organisms that are found in their natural environments. Diversity in species
is highly significant as it guarantees natural sustainability for all living networks and
systems by providing vital services that our lives are dependent on such as food and
clean water. The different ecosystems and organisms boost ecosystem productivity
and contribute to climate stability.
Taxonomy
To classify and identify certain organisms a system was formed called Taxonomy.
Taxonomy is a form of classification that all known organisms presently on earth are
organised into, an organism is classified based on characteristics the organism has
inherited. The characteristics typically file the specie under each of the eight titles,

Baleen whales have a sieve like structure made of keratin in the upper jaw that is
used for filtering food from the water. Toothed whales differ from the baleen whale
as they have teeth rather than a baleen place that are used to hint prey. Toothed
whales have lost their sense of smell as well as saliva glands and are generally
smaller than baleen whales.
Whales are then classified further into family, genus and species dependent on the
species of whale.
Evolution of whales
Results extracted from studying whales and ancestors of suspected fossils, it is
evident that whales have evolved from four legged animals that are said to physically

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matching System
3.4Evaluation
As a basis for this logical framework п¬Ѓrst order logic can be used. For evaluation
stratification can also be applied. It is a bottom up evaluation phenomenon.
For evaluating matching rules there is need to have a hold on aggregation operations.
To п¬Ѓnd the best match п¬Ѓrst compute all possible matches with their matching
confidence.
4Challenges
There are mainly three drawbacks of rule based techniques:
1. They cannot utilize data instances efficiently even though they conceal ample
amount of information like distribution, value format, frequency of words, and so on
that would help in matching process.
2. In some cases writing matching rules is very difficult due to incomplete
information while in learning based approach using appropriate learning methods
such as NaГЇve Bayes make probabilistic rules which can be done easily.
3. It cannot exploit previous matching efforts to serve the current matchings. Hence,
systems that uses only rule based techniques face difficulties learning from the
past, to improve over time.
Due to these reasons learning approach is developed and followed.

A new self configuring and adaptive schema matching system has been proposed. It
uses a combination of schema and matrix features as well as different matching rules
to construct and adapt matching processes automatically. This framework offers
some advantages like: correct methods for dealing with schemas that are semantically
rich like ontologies; extensible matchers; and semi automated derivation of the rules
that are constructed for matching based on already mapped sources like identifying
constraints, synonyms etc. For diverse match problems this approach returns good
results as well as it is a good competitor of manually tuned approaches. It can be
further enhanced to support more complicated

Wal Mart continues to expand their brand name to maintain the iron fist hold on the
market they currently dominate. These generic brands allow Wal Mart to cut prices
and offer many goods lower than their competitors. Wal Mart has announced
expanding its generic line by approximately 80 new products, boasting that the
products are an average of 40% lower than popular brands. Wal Mart like other large
retailers has to abide to tax laws and regulation set in place by the government. Wal
Mart like any other company has regulations to follow such as the antitrust laws.
Antitrust policy is the government s policy toward the competitive process ().
Where the government may intervene is say if Wal Mart was merging with a
company, and it was taking a complete strong hold on the market giving it the ability
to fluctuate prices as high as may want to. Still being able to retain consumers even at
such a high price and they can do nothing about it. Antitrust regulation can prevent a
company like Wal Mart from doing so. The specific law is the Sherman Antitrust Act
of 1890 designed to regulate the competitive process. Wal Mart biggest externality
from opening a store in a small town can undermine the town centers and replace
them with commercial sprawl on the outskirts of these towns (). If these externalities
are a reason to limit Wal Mart s aggressive pricing policies is a debatable question ().
An externality is the

Social Relation And Dynamics Of Production And
Reproduction
INTRODUCTION
There is no doubt that the increase in population has put pressure on land due to the
increase in the world economy (money supply, utilization of goods and services as
well as production), which has brought about the increase in demand and supply.
This situation should not be a yardstick for investors to exploit on peoples (small
scale farmers) and denying them their human right (Timothy E 2010). The social
relation and dynamics of production and reproduction, property and power in
agrarian formation is termed as political economy (Bernstein, 2010). Land which is a
natural resource and property for its owners has become a debatable issue recently.
The introduction of industries in to agrarian settings has made investors to ... Show

Government polices sometimes turn to promote these land grabs, the challenge is
thrown to social movements to ensure environmental sustainability and better policies.
Especially, now that contemporary issues related to land grabs are based on natural
resource management, and environment violence in developing countries has
augmented (Barlowe et al. 2013).
The link between people and their material environment, thus political ecology
make people aggressive when they are being displaced of their land. This has led
to recent increase in land disputes. There is the mentality that, if someone does not
own a land, he/ she does value or take proper care of it and is tempted to manage it
badly or even use inappropriate technology on it. Also the shifting dialect between
society and land based resource give a reason to detect and understand and respond
to to environmental problems. There is the need to harmonise contemporary cultural,
political and economic systems in other to ensure ecological sustainability. Land
space allocated to small scale farmers should be well demarcated so that the political
boundaries would be clear. This would foster understanding of contemporary agrarian
issues. (Paulson, Susan, and Lisa L. Gezon, 2005)
The objective of this essay is to discuss the how investments on agrarian settings
affect the local people s livelihood. Considering the agrarian question three ,thus the

Benefits Of Emt-Paramedic
Also, EMT paramedics should make way more money because they do a
dangerous job that saves lives and they do not even make a decent living. 31,000
dollars per year may not seem like that little of an amount of money, but if it is a
family of six and an EMT paramedic is the only one working in the family, they are
actually below the poverty level. Money is not the most important thing about a
career, but when I learned that the people who saved my life do not even make, on
average, fifteen dollars an hour, I was shocked. Making that kind of money would
make it difficult to provide for a family, so the spouse would also most likely have to
work in order to make a decent family income. A household with a first responder
should easily make six
Ida Wells-Barnett And Southern Horrors
Ida Wells Barnett was born on July 16. 1862 in Holly Springs, Mississippi, just
months before her plantation slave parents were declared free when the
Emancipation Proclamation took effect on January 1st, 1863. Although all slaves in
the South were freed, all blacks were met with prejudice in every way possible.
Because of the deeply rooted racismand dehumanization of blacks in the new South ,
and the lynchings of some of her closest friends, Wells Barnett was compelled to write
and publish Southern Horrors in 1892. This was written to educate and enlighten the
public of the countless lynching s taking place and other acts of injustice occurring
throughout the south against blacks. Wells Barnett sought to reveal the true, root
cause of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A perfect example backing up what Wells Barnett argues the cause of lynching is in
Southern Horrors is the case of a lynching that occurred on March 9th, 1892 in
Memphis, Tennessee. Tensions were rising in a Memphis neighborhood after three
African American men; Thomas Moss, Calvin McDowell and Will Stewart, opened
their own grocery store that was taking business away from a nearby white owned
store. The three black men stayed overnight at their store to protect it from vandals
that night. Sometime in the night they shot off some of the white men who came to
attack. In retaliation for the white men who were shot, the storeowners were arrested
and taken to jail. These men were never given the opportunity to defend their actions
due to a lynch mob dragging them from their cell then murdering them. Additionally,
Wells Barnett informed the public that some of the cases, more often than not where
black men that were lynched for raping white women, the sexual relations were
consensual and not forced. Learning of the unjust treatment of the store owners, the
other men who were falsely accused of rape, and countless other injustices Wells
Barnett became outraged to the degree of taking it upon herself to put her life at risk
by traveling the south for two months gathering information on other lynching
incidents

1.1TITLE
The limitations challenging further integration of information and communication
technology (ICT) in Nigeria s secondary schools: An assessment through secondary
school teachers and students.
1.2REASON FOR CHOICE OF TOPIC
Over the past decade, technology has had far reaching impact on the way we live,
changing the way we work, learn, and communicate even the way we carry out our
regular, daily activities (Seifer and Mihalynuk, 2003). The role of ICT in education
extends beyond service learning classes and activities by providing more effective
experiences for faculty, students and community participants (Seifer and Mihalynuk,
2003).
The need for ICT in Nigerian secondary schools cannot be overemphasized. In this
technology driven era, everyone needs ICT competence to thrive (Adomi and
Kpangban, 2010). Although efforts have been made to ensure that ICTs are available
and utilised in Nigerian secondary school. However, the level of inculcation remains
low (Adomi and Kpangban, 2010). Goshit (2006) found out that most schools, both
private and public, do not offer ICT training programmes. The Federal Government of

Alexander Berkman s Activism
Alexander Berkman is most known for being the anarchist who attempted to
assassinate Henry Clay Frick, Carnegie Steel s anti union manager during the
lockout issues in the late 1800 s. This was one of his major actions as an anarchist,
however, there is much more to Berkman and his radical activism than his one act
of propaganda by deed. He was a larger part of the American anarchist movement of
the early 20th century than he is given credit for. I will explore Berkman s life and
political activism from origins in revolutionary Russia through his fight for American
workers and American anarchism, ending with his final Anarchist works in Europe
and eventual suicide.

Berkman arrived in Pittsburgh, where Henry Frick s office was located, on July 14
where he stayed with a couple fellow anarchists and met some other local ones. On
July 23 Alexander Berkman entered Frick s office and asked to see him. He was
told that Frick was currently busy by the receptionist, however he went passed and
entered the office. Berkman begins to call out Frick s name but immediately stops
when he notices the look of terror on his face, for some reason Frick realized what
was going on and it stunned Berkman for a moment. Berkman immediately draws
out his pistol and aims for Frick s head. He fires once and Frick falls to his knees
off of his chair. Even after the first shot Berkman stays completely focused on his
mission, I feel calm and possessed, intent upon every movement of the man. He
moves forward to fire again but gets into a struggle with another person who was in
the office at the time. Berkman pushes off the other man and fires again but
misses, he works his way towards Frick while fighting off the other man and at
point blank range pulls the trigger, but the pistol misfires. At that moment Berkman
is hit hard in the back of the head with a hammer by a carpenter who was doing
some work in a nearby room, Berkman falls to the floor and is jumped on by the
two men. Berkman struggles to crawl towards Frick and retrieve the dagger from his
pocket while the two men are struggling on top of
The Noise Of Sound Waves Through Instruments And How
The...
Introduction
Music takes up a large part of our lives, most people listen to it almost every day. It
is one of the only medians between People from completely different walks of life,
connecting us all through major symphonies or just beautifully simple chords.
Though many people enjoy the emotion filled sound that travel to their eardrums,
most do not know exactly why. People also do not know why they dislike some
musical sounds. I am very curious as to why there are melodies considered good or
bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested in
learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic
greatly. I want to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic
or discordant by looking into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research
on this topic, I will focus mainly on the emission of sound waves through instruments
and how the notes come together. Sound travels as a transverse wave which means it
takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These waves are used to produce
different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound waves have
different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes,
which change the volume of notes.
Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent
these changes by modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will
allow me to demonstrate how
Reasons For John F. Kennedy s Assassination Conspiracy
Since John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, there have been
numerous conspiracy theories but there are five that are the most popular. They are
the CIA, Grassy Knoll shooter, Mafia, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Lee Harvey Oswald.
Many believed that he was assassinated by the government. Some felt like the
military industrial complex would have benefited from the death of the President.
Dwight D. Eisenhower had warned Americans about the military industrial complex.
Some think that Kennedy had taken Eisenhower s advice and was planning on
reducing the size of the military. They believed that Kennedy was planning to end
the United States involvement in Vietnam and that he was planning on making a
long term peace deal with the Soviet Union. This would have ended the Cold War
very early. Many believed that the reduction in the size of the military serves as a
motive for elements in the Pentagon and military contractors to want to end Kennedy
s life. I would give this a 15% likelihood of being the reason. ... Show more content

They believed the mafia had worked with Joe Kennedy to help get JFK elected.
After getting him elected, Kennedy failed to protect the United States interest in
Cuba, which caused the mafia to lose a lot of money. Kennedy s administration had
also begun to crack down on organized crime. Some JFK assassination conspiracy
evidence suggests that the mafia worked with the CIA to assassinate the president.
Another thing that also points the mafia in the involvement in JFK s death was their
ties to Jack Ruby. Ruby was the man who shot Kennedy s alleged shooter Lee Harvey
Oswald as he was being transported by police. Ruby, also a Dallas nightclub owner,
was believed to have ties to organized crime. I think likelihood of this is
The Nurture In Frankenstein And Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein
Across literature, authors capture the struggle of people finding their true purpose. In
Mary W. Shelley s gothic novel, Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein and his creation,
the Creature, both come from different experiences but ultimately share the same
desire in seeking revenge. This desire from the Creature and Victor stems from the
failures that they find from their purpose and despite the differences they both face,
the two characters parallel one another in this way. The time at which the novel was
written, political change was taking its stand. Ideologies that were created by John
Locke and Thomas Hobbes clashed with one another. John Locke, an influential
English enlightenment philosopher, believed that human beings are not evil by nature.

But he ultimately found beauty in the nature that surrounds him like the moon and
he fixed [his] eyes on [it] with pleasure (Shelley 87). But, his very nature was full
of goodness, even with an inclination toward kindness (Gould). The Creature takes
on the idea of what John Locke proposes about nature and nurture. There are
examples at the beginning of the Creature s life where his nature of goodness is
shown through. Due to his abandonment, the Creature watches attentively to the
cottagers from afar. He tries to learn their language and would listen in to their
conversations. There was a night after he brought the cottagers food and wood that
[he] found on the ground some books (Shelley 109). One of the books that found
and took in possession was Paradise Lost. The creature naturally took to the book
and instantly compared himself to Adam. The Creature is the creation of Victor
like Adam is the creation that God. He ultimately relates himself to Satan because
he was wretched, helpless, and alone (Shelley 111). Over time, the Creature notices
the affection that Felix and Safie have towards each other and he realizes that he
wants someone like that for himself. All he ever wants is to be loved and to have
someone take care of him. He wants to be integrated and accepted into the society by
his creator. This now turns to the way the Creature has grown up and his nurture.

Why I Am An Engineer
1.Choosing to be an Engineer was one of the easiest choices I ve had to make in
my life. I ve grown up being told engineering is one of the best majors to have. My
mom is a mechanical engineer and since day one she s been helping me develop
skills and knowledge that engineers have. I remember being in kindergarten and my
mom would sit me down at the kitchen table at my grandma s house and she taught
me basic algebra. She taught me how to think critically and problem solve. She
helped me in all my academic courses, and taught me math from 6th grade trough my
junior year in high school. Majoring in engineeringwas never a question, what type
was always the big question. When I was fourteen I underwent a few extensive
surgeries. All though the surgeries weren t fun to experience it peaked my interest
in how the body self heals. The idea of becoming a doctor quickly crossed my
mind. Junior year after my most recent surgery I came across Utah State s
engineering programs and learned of biological engineering. It seemed to fit me
best. It is the perfect undergraduate degree. It has plenty of science, my favorite
subject; easy path for pre health, if I so desire to take that route; and it is a form of
engineering, the best major to have. I never had resistance in becoming an engineer,
if anything I had pressure to become one. It was never bad pressure, it was the kind
I need and appreciate from my family, teachers, and friends. They helped me
recognize my natural abilities and
The Golden Age Of Detective Fiction
The period of the 1920s and 30s is generally referred to as the Golden Age of
Detective Fiction. During this period, a number of very popular writers emerged,
mostly British but with a notable subset of American and New Zealand writers.
Female writers constituted a major portion of notable Golden Age writers, including
Agatha Christie, the most famous of the Golden Age writers, and among the most
famous authors of any genre, of all time. Various conventions of the detective genre
were standardized during the Golden Age, and in 1929 some of them were codified
by writer Ronald Knox in his Decalogue of rules for detective fiction, among them to
avoid supernatural elements, all of which were meant to guarantee that, in Knox s
words, a detective story must have as its main interest the unravelling of a mystery;
a mystery whose elements are clearly presented to the reader at an early stage in
the proceedings, and whose nature is such as to arouse curiosity, a curiosity which
is gratified at the end. Many of the most popular books of the Golden Age were
written by Agatha Christie, who produced long series of books featuring her
detectives Hercule Poirotand Miss Marple, amongst others, and usually including a
complex puzzle for the reader to try to unravel. Christie s novels include, Murder
on the Orient Express (1934), Death on the Nile (1937), and And Then There Were
Noe (1939). Also popular were the stories featuring Dorothy L. Sayers s Lord Peter
Wimsey and S. S. Van
Megan Davis Chain Of Command
The chain of command in the United States Army has been an organizational power
that has been used for many years now and this story showed just how important and
respected it is. At the beginning of this story Lieutenant Megan Davis is furious and
talks about how the straightforward rank system in the military, seems to be more
bureaucratic and complicated than she had ever experienced. She is an active duty
military nurse that has been living and working on Fort Alpha, especifically in the
Emergency Room (ER). Megan is the charge nurse meaning she is in charge and all
the other nurses report to her for whatever procedure or medication they need. In the
story it talks about how Megan has always loved structure so it was perfect for her
joining the army because of the strong hierarchy it has. The two most important rules
that Lieutenant Davis respects and follows are, You listen to people who outrank you
and You stay in the chain of command. Another key character is

Should Megan talk directly with higher up? Why or why not? Yes, Megan should
have talked to higher up since the beginning but since she believed Joe had taken
the right protocol that everyone takes, she didn t tell the head nurse and then one
Jow left she was super busy taking care of his patients as well. If Megan was able to
talk to highe up since the beginning all of this could ve been avoided but since the
strict chain of command blocks that she is not able to talk to higher ranking officers
without having consequences or accidentally insulting them.

Nursing Informatics Personal Statement
My ultimate goal at the moment is to complete my Masters in Health Informatics
Administration and sit for the RHIA exam in December prior to embarking on a
new career in Informatics. Having worked in the healthcare industry for the past 12
years, I have some knowledge with electronic health records such as with Cerner
Millenium and EPIC Portfolio and how they contribute to efficiency in clinical
documentation in order to improve patients care. As a current registered nurse, I use
the EHR on a daily basis to document patients health and physical assessment
including medication administration. However, my ultimate plan eventually is to
leave bedside nursing entirely once I am able to secure a job position in either health
or nursing informatics.

Senior Year Essay.pdf

  • 1. Senior Year Essay Embarking on the task of crafting a "Senior Year Essay" can be a daunting endeavor, laden with a unique set of challenges and emotional intricacies. As a culmination of one's academic journey, this essay demands introspection, retrospection, and a delicate balance between nostalgia and anticipation for the future. The difficulty lies not just in the technical aspects of essay writing but in capturing the essence of an entire senior year. The challenge is to distill a multitude of experiences, growth, friendships, and lessons into a coherent narrative that resonates with both personal significance and broader universal themes. Attempting to convey the emotional rollercoaster of senior year, from the excitement of impending freedom to the bittersweet farewells, requires a careful selection of words and a nuanced approach to storytelling. There's the risk of veering into sentimentality or clichГ©, necessitating a constant awareness of tone and authenticity. Moreover, the process of self-reflection can be a double-edged sword. Unearthing the moments that defined the senior year often involves revisiting both triumphs and challenges, requiring a certain level of vulnerability and introspective honesty. This can be emotionally taxing, as it requires confronting personal growth, failures, and the evolution of one's identity. The essay must strike a balance between the personal and the universal, connecting individual experiences to broader themes that resonate with a diverse audience. Crafting a narrative that transcends the specificities of one person's senior year and touches upon shared human experiences is no small feat. In addition to the emotional complexity, there's the technical aspect of essay writing – structuring thoughts coherently, maintaining a compelling flow, and adhering to the conventions of academic writing. This task demands meticulous attention to detail, revising and refining the prose to ensure clarity and impact. In the end, the difficulty of writing a "Senior Year Essay" goes beyond the surface-level challenge of assembling words on a page. It's an exploration of identity, a reckoning with the passage of time, and an attempt to encapsulate a transformative period in a few pages. Successfully navigating these challenges requires a blend of introspection, writing skill, and an understanding of the delicate balance between personal narrative and universal resonance. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any writing challenges, there are resources available. Services like HelpWriting.net offer professional support in crafting compelling narratives, ensuring that the essence of personal experiences is captured and communicated effectively. • 2. Extended Stereotypes Anything but Average The baby blue ribbon draped around my horse s neck tells the crowd that I am the tenth best junior dressage rider in the country. Don t confuse this with some fantasy, I did not reign supreme nor top the field of competitors I faced during the weekend in Chicago, Illinois at the Festival of Champions horse show. However, I stood proud with my lowly score of 63.7 percent. Seven percent off the winner, which as far as my sport goes equates to the difference between an A and a C on a math test. In layman s terms, dressage means riding patterns on a horse. I could share the ideas of flying changes, extended trots, and half passes, but these seemingly alien concepts would lose most people. Above all, I trick people, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to a minimum qualifying standard, I had to prove myself in front of the panel of five international judges at Junior Olympics before I would receive an invitation to compete at the National Championships. The criteria seemed backwards, but I had no other options. My trainer worked Paddington and I long and hard all year up until the week before Junior Olympics. However, the four days leading up to championships I instead spent in an arm sling due to a conveniently placed contusion to my arm that prevented me from riding. I bummed around the isles of the barn, letting anxiety fill my head at the lack of preparation I felt I had in those final days. The morning of our six hour trek I rode for the first time with little to no pain and continued to hope the worst had ended. We made it to Kentucky and, with my arm finally free of the sling, pulled out a qualifying score to allow me acceptance into the Festival of
  • 3. A Brief Note On Peer And Peer Networks Peer to Peer networks are one of the most popular of all social media platforms. A peer to peer network also called p2p, which we will use throughout this investigation, is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or workloads between peers (Peer to peer, 2014.)[2] The interest in p2p has steadily been growing since the introduction of Napster in 1999. There are several different types of p2p networks, platforms and architectures which we will discuss. The p2p networks while improving still suffer from structural and security vulnerabilities, we will examine these issues and discuss possible improvements. Discussion Peer to Peer file sharing networks are dangerous and pose many threats to those who choose to use them. While we know that p2p traffic consumes almost 70% of all internet traffic and in March 2014 there were 31.7 million unique ip s using these networks (P2P Still Ranks, 2014.) These networks are popular for making popular and copyrighted content available, much of the activity that takes place on these networks is either sensitive or illegal which is why developers have gone a long way to make these networks and their users as difficult to track and anonymous as possible. Current p2p software such as BitTorrent use protocols that make it very difficult to determine where traffic is going or coming from (not difficult enough though.) While malicious activity and attacks through these networks has been improved upon in recent years, p2p
  • 4. Character Of Baby Kochamma Navomi Ipe, otherwise known as Baby Kochamma, is an antagonist in the novel. Growing up in a traditional family, she developed a strong belief that their practices, the caste and marriage, are correct and are meant to be followed, strictly. A materialistic and selfish person but a smart one. Shaped by tradition, Baby Kochamma dislikes Ammu and her children as it is implied in this line words could not describe Baby Kochamma s outrage. (22). Most of the timetaking glee on their unhappiness. Described as young, slender, and attractive when she was 18 years old, an honest child. Man less woman just like Ammu but a difference in perspective. Baby Kochamma accepted her fate while Ammu quarreling with a fate (22). Ammu had done what she couldn t... Chacko studied in Oxford as a scholar, had been a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford (18), he s a well educated man. When I read the book, I thought that he could be a father like figure for Rahel and Estha. Full of knowledge, he has what Ammu called them his Oxford Moods. (26). In the first 30 40 pages of the novel, he was spouting words with deep meaning, philosophical, enchanting. It attracted the twins, listening to him for his next words. And he hardly got angry with the twins. He doesn t express any kind of hatred or dislike for his sister or his niece. This shows that he has a different point of view than Baby Kochamma or Mammachi. However, though he does not act like it, He said that Ammu and Estha and Rahel were millstones around his neck. (41). Whether it was due to their fight or it is what he thinks, the thought of him being a father like figure disappeared. He interacted with the characters in the novel with a certain level of respect. He treated a paravan like Velutha with importance as he was skilled as can be seen in this line He s invaluable. (131) though he still has prejudice against those in the lower caste. A sign that he is more open minded than others, he cares not whether he is a paravan or not. It is apparent in I think you owe my wife an apology,
  • 5. The Day Of Deliverance, By John Adams As we Americans approach this forthcoming Independence Day, I think of our country and how privileged we are to have the rights we do today. Although laws and other things of that sort have been passed for years, we continue to acquire more liberation to this day. Two hundred and thirty nine years ago, on July 4th of 1776, it was a day of commemoration concerning the Declaration of Independence as our nation was finally free at last from Great Britain s government. On a day near the beginning of July, John Adamswrote the following passage to his wife, Abigail: The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more. ( Letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams, 3 July 1776, Had a Declaration... Adams Family Papers. Massachusetts Historical Society. Retrieved June 28, 2009) John Adams was only two days short of his prediction, but his declared sentiment saying that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations was nothing less of how Americans still celebrate currently with dinners, toasts, fireworks, picnics, parades, and more. • 6. Star Formation Research Paper Stars Introduction Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be millions of times larger than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early universe. Most of the elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we are literally made of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth, life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today. Star Formations Stars do not form out of nowhere and just pop into appearance in space. The galaxy NGC 6240 is a super galaxy formed by the collision of 2 smaller galaxies. Since every galaxy has a supermassive black hole at the center of it, the NGC 6240 galaxy has 2 black holes at the center. Scientists are predicting that someday these two black holes would collide. There are two different outcomes of 2 black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are spinning at very high speeds and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will be slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The second, more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer together until they can t escape each others gravity and eventually become one, when this happens the resulting black hole is known as a Binary Black Hole. The energy emitted from the collision would be so great it would send ripples through the space time fabric of the Universe. These ripples are known as Gravitational
  • 7. Amazon s Product And Service Amazon is using different operating models to provide products and service to customers. There are three distinct models that Amazon.com offers, each with a different supply chain. The three models are Amazon.com as seller, Amazon.com as intermediary, and Amazon.com as full service e commerce provider. Amazon as Seller The basic Amazon sales channel is the web store front end which serves as their core business. Customers go to the Amazon.com website, browse products, and place orders. Amazon is responsible for all front end customer relationships and back end logistics in this model. Once an order is placed, Amazon decides which internal distribution center or drop shipper should be responsible for shipping the order to the customers. After that, Amazon will responsible for coordinating the fulfillment of the order. When products are sourced from its internal distribution centers, then Amazon start to picks, packs, and ships the order. When products are sourced from a drop shipper, such like a book distributor, the distributor packages the products by using the Amazon box delivers it to the customer (Maltz et al., 2004). This model requires Amazon to maintain or purchase inventory for immediate selling. In this model, Amazon owns the customer relationship, provides the technology, owns or purchases the inventory, and executes the logistics as well. Besides that, another part of Amazon as a seller model includes the Syndicated Stores program, which allows third party
  • 8. Descartes Surprise Ending in Discourse on Method In one of the most influential books in the history of Western philosophy, Rene Descartes outlines a method mental reasoning, which he applies to a wide variety of fields and intellectual endeavors. For the first few books of Discourse on the Method, Descartes outlines first how the method came about as he was a pupil at schooland had the realization that he was not actually learninganything important. He was therefore motivated to discover what truly constituted learning, knowledge, and truth. The philosopher can do this by doubting everything first. By doubting, he can use reason to discern what is real from unreal. Doubting is the focus of Book Two of Discourse on the Method. The method that Descartes applies to fields like geometry, which the author points out in Book Two. His doubting is more personal in Book Three. The surprise ending to Discourse on the Method comes when suddenly Descartes is no longer doubting something. He spends so much time in the first three books on doubting information, and letting go of his beliefs, that when he launches into his cogito ergo sum assertion, it comes to the reader as a great surprise. The surprise ending is that Descartes finds the first thing he cannot doubt, which is the fact that he exists. His existence is something that cannot be doubted, or else it would create a metaphysical conundrum: it is not possible to even think about doubting without first existing. The smallest thought cannot come from nothingness, and so,

Harper Harper s Heist Harper s Heist: Locations Essay (I think I need to put in my logline, but I m not sure) Harper s Heist, a live action feature film centered on the premise of a twelve year old, orphaned, genius who must prevent a bank robbery after she, and her foster mother, end up trapped in the middle of it. It s set in Buffalo, New York, a city rooted in architectural experimentation, and the preservation of history (Ouroussoff, 2008). The central characters, Harper Bagley and her foster mother Addie Robinson, are often found on Elmwood Avenue, Allen Street, or Main Street for the antique shops, art galleries and live music shows (Ireland, 2004). After Harper s arrival, the two began decorating the living and kitchen spaces with mixed furniture and knickknacks from the Hertel district (Queenseyes, 2007) giving it an authentic home like vibe. Addie s house is a two bedroom, modern Victorian style townhouse. The exterior, painted burgundy, with white trimmings around the roof and windows, has a small accented porch in the front of the house. The home can almost mirror that of the houses on Trinity Place, that according to LaChiasa (2002), is a narrowly hidden and overlooked area of Allentown whose quaint, Victorian inspired variances remain missed by those who are unaware of its existence. The secondary location within Addie s house is Harper s bedroom on the second floor. Harper s bedroom is a nice moderate size, big enough for a large standing dresser, a small desk and chair with a twin sized bed in the center of the room. She and Addie spent two days painting her room together, purple with green trimmings. Harper really likes this room and all of the things Addie has bought her since she s moved in, but she still keeps most of the clothes Addie has given her in two large boxes in the corner of the room. The most valuable thing in her entire bedroom is a small, worn shoebox she keeps underneath her bed with a faded photo of her parents and a set of magnets that were a gift from her father. • 10. Black Swan Green Analysis In Black Swan Green, I was particularly struck by Jason and his complicated relationship with himself. Throughout the first few chapters of the novel, Jason shows himself as someone who can be easily influenced by the darkness and uncertainty that surrounds him. Through inner personalities, as well as the undeniable influence of society and culture, Jason s true character is often repressed by his environment and inner cautions. What struck me about the novel, and Jason in particular, were the moments in which Jason s true character was revealed amidst the conflict in his life. Communities have an extremely strong influence in our lives, and they help shape our behavior, but no amount of external or internal influence can change who we are. Communities are a basis of human life, and they have a strong potential to affect our behavior. Many of Jason s priorities and decisions are responses to the social implications they hold in his community. For example, Jason decides to mention the cotton cherry knocking technique and try it out on Mr. Blake in order to impress his friends and Dawn Madden (Mitchell 119). As the cherry knocking ensues, Jason regrets doing it when he sees the conflict that it creates. Normally it is viewed in a negative aspect, although it can also be very positive, such as flexibility. Human factors is very complex, that is why there are many types of model to describe human factors. One of these models is the SCHELL model , this model is used by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). What this means is that the model gives an idea of the overview of human factors. The SCHELL stands for: S = software (procedures, policy and other aspects of work design) C = Culture (organisational and cultural influencing interactions) H = Hardware (equipment, tools and other technology) E = Environment (environmental aspects in which work occurs) L = Liveware (human aspects of work) L = Liveware (the communication between co workers at work) This model puts an emphasis how depended each individual behaviour or action is for how the system is shaped. Any failures and/or mishap between the components can lead to chaotic situations. As a military organisation or as an approved organisation, regular human factors skill based training programs must be offered. Also know as Maintenance Error Management (MEM) for maintenance personnel. The training should be based on providing safety critical staff with non technical skills to manage consequences and prevention of human errors. This is to emphasise that making errors is normal and expected however the consequences are just as

In this literature review, three major themes were identified which include; window displays, music and shop crowding. Finding Window displays In relation to window display, three studies reported that there is a positive relationship between consumers buying behavior and window display (Ali Hasnu 2013, Karbasivar Yarahmadi 2011 and Tendai Crispen 2009). According to Ali Hasnu (2013, p.7) consumers buying decision is influenced by the physical attractiveness of store displays. Consumers develop their first impressions by the store displays which emotionally attract them to the product and buy that product (Ali Hasnu 2013, p.7). Similarly, Tendai Crispen (2009, p. 107) reported that attractive window displays increases sales as consumers purchase unplanned products. Moreover, the finding of Karbasivar Yarahmadi (2011) study indicated that window display has strong effect on encouraging consumers to buying more and enjoying their shopping time. In order to trigger shopping among consumers, store managers must ensure attractive store displays (Ali Hasnu 2013, p. 7).

They also explored literature that supported the fact that sleep inertia or feeling groggy after a nap was one potential drawback to napping on the night shift. The researchers also reviewed studies that showed that the effectiveness of naps depended on their length. According to these studies, ideally the best nap is not too long but not too short. However, none of the other works reviewed by these authors mentioned anything about managers. While these articles do highlight the potential risks and benefits of sleeping on the night shift, it is unclear of how these studies related to the variable that is being studied in this study. Within philosophy, there are many ethical theories. Such theories include: the Divine Command Theory, Hedonism, Desire Theory, Ethical Relativism, and much more. In this term paper, I will discuss which theory I believe is the strongest and which theory I believe is the weakest. Regardless, there is no perfect theory. Each theory is without flaws. I believe act utilitarianism is the strongest ethical theory presented in class. Act utilitarianism is when, according to Russ Shafer Landau, acts are right just because they maximize the overall amount of well being in the world . On the other hand, actions are wrong if they do not maximize the overall amount of well being in the world. Because the main concept of utilitarianism is to improve the overall well being, that concept determines which actions are considered right or wrong. Act utilitarianism is a part of a family of theories that are similar to consequentialism and utilitarianism (neither act nor rule utilitarianism). This family of theories are all similar in a way that the main idea is to improve and

The United States Health Care Public Safety Essay Background The United States health care public safety net system largely provides healthcare services to the uninsured and the under insured. However, this vulnerable population still cannot access adequate care and compared to the privately insured population, the uninsured receive less preventative and specialty health care services. The need for safety net providers to improve the delivery and access to care has led to increased funding through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as well the expanded community health centers (CHCs) (HealthCare.gov, 2010). Following the passage of the PPACA and increased federal support for the CHCs, the American public health care system witnessed significant changes. Some of these changes include increased access to healthcare, restructurings of private health coverages and containing Medicaid and Medicaid (). One of the key provisions of the PPACA was to extend health care coverage to the uninsured population in the country. Among the most affected are the safety net providers whose sole objective is to provide healthcare services to the uninsured Americans. These providers of last resort have played a critical role in ensuring that even the most vulnerable persons access basic healthcare. Nevertheless, as previous research has shown, access to preventative and specialty care among the uninsured still remains a challenge. Very few studies have identified how safety net providers have impacted maternal and infant

It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were acceptable, and not punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not even safe in private. After the decision in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S. Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had a chance to move forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not disappear. By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it also declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made it more acceptable and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to talk about and dispute. Not only was it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual Status Law, which made being gay a crime. Television moved from just news and silent films to soap operas, cartoons, music videos and other types of informational and entertainment things which influences us positively and negatively. Theories Marshall McLuhan, who was a Canadian communication theorist, was very much interested in technology and how it shapes the advanced modern society. His very famous theory was the medium is the message which means that the resource used or mode through which they are presenting shows the message, not really the content. This theory then leads to how technology is seen as an extension to human senses. McLuhan stated, Media have powerful effects on societies. Just like the way our eyes see, our nose smell, our skin feels and our other senses have their function, McLuhan emphasis the fact that technology is the extension of our psychological, social and intellectual (inner) senses. In relation to Television as a technology, McLuhan would agree that technology is an extension to our human sense due to the fact that in recent days it is something that is used everyday. Humans use
  • 24. The Ultimate Test For Any Idea EPR Paradox The ultimate test for any idea, ranging from abstract philosophical concepts to objective scientific theories, is the reality. What makes us to believe whether something is right or wrong is how much that thing is compatible with reality. In physics, reality is the direct result of an experiment; thus, we are forced to think about reality as observable reality . In fact, the distinction between reality and observable reality is extremely important, since as a consequence of this distinction, a logically correct theory may not necessary be correct while a logically non satisfying theory may be completely correct (if it is also able to predict the result of a series of experiments). Reality can encompasses any logical idea whether observable or unobservable, but observable reality consist of only observable phenomena whether or not they seem logical. In the case of Einstein s gedanken experiment concerning Quantum Mechanics known as EPR or EPR Paradox we face the exact same difficulty; either taking EPR s word for believing in logically desirable physical explanations, or just relying on experiments results and their consistency with quantum mechanics which are far from being logically satisfying. In this paper, I shall tackle both EPR gedanken experiment and the results of an experiment that contrasts EPR logical statements in order to see if I can address the EPR paradox once for all. If Toyota would have done this, they would have not only championed new world thinking, but also would have created more jobs to hire more people thus helping lower unemployment in those countries. Corporations need to be held accountable for making sure they do not operate sweatshops. With such high demand for lower and lower prices, companies are scrambling to try and beat out their competition. With this demand, companies appear to be trying their ethics practices. Toyota was no different, they were trying to keep the price of their vehicles down so that customers in the United States would purchase them over domestic and other international brands. To achieve this they were using the excuse of voluntary overtime, which was not actually voluntary. Because the employees needed jobs, they worked all the hours without getting paid extra. Part of the problem was cultural. Japanese believe they are part of the organization and will do whatever is needed to not lose face for them or the company. Also, Japan has a medium power index, indicating that people will not usually question a manager; they will do what they are told (Beamer/Varner, 2010). Toyota needs to understand moral relativism, that all cultures have valid principles. No one rule can apply everyone working in an organization, especially large corporations.

A year later, I attended grad school in Canada and obtained an MFA from the University of Guelph. Currently, my practice encompasses the creation of photo based images, video works, and three dimensional objects concepts manifests simultaneously through a variety of mediums. How were The Weekend and Quantum Blink created? The method employed in the creation of Quantum Blink is a variation from that of The Weekend. The slicing is analog and is the result of direct in camera interversions. There was a lot of experimentation with countless materials, and plenty of trial an error before I could successfully achieve the results I was after. The negative itself has the stripes, hence the irregularity on the edges and slight overlap which becomes more apparent once the image is printed larger. While the temporal distance between exposures in The Weekend reached up to seven months, in Quantum Blink the lapse ranged from a few minutes to an

What is the reality of being in a new place, instead of being in a society of other people around you? Does one person think they can another s perceptionof their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good in the eye of the beholder from the ancient dialogues from Plato and Socrates? Lets starts from the beginning, by distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it something that is done by everyone on a daily basis? Whether it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism. Idealism is only things that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish Bishop named George Berkeley view of idealism is ...though it were possible that solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without the mind... yet how [could we] know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason. (Rachels Rachels, 2012, p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our knowledge of sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in the existence of physical objects that is a necessary connection between the physical world and our ideas. Another approach is direct versus indirect realism, which deals with the perception of our reality or mental state. Direct idealism deals with common sense and with the facts of things; however, indirect idealism is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of something with our idea of an object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s story of the Allegory of the Cave, and reality and appearance the same? In the story of the Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following understanding of the Cave. The cave is a world where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the captors cast shadows on the wall and these shadows construct reality for the prisoners. One of the prisoners is freed by the

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prostate cancer refers to the malignant growth of glandular cells located in the prostate. Under normal circumstances these cells sit in the glands which are responsible for the production of fluids that make up most of the semen in males [2]. However once these cells lose their control, what happens is that they will keep on growing until they become cancerous [2]. Ultimately this means that the natural surrounding layers that did act like barriers for these cells are now broken and therefore allows the spread of these malignant cells to other organs within the body, particularly the bones and lymph nodes [2]. When this does take place the risk of death also increases. At the age of 85, a man is said to have a 1 in 5 chances of developing prostate cancer sometime in their life. The risk is said to double if a male has a first degree relative who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was characterized by its high population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its early, high level of urbanization. From the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to power comparable to even Britain and France. This was also the period of time when world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name global trade. In fact, the Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th century was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age, trade, military, art, and science flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc. Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east prospered. Then in the medieval period, the catholic western European states emerged stronger than ever, causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs eastern orthodox in Europe. Western Europe was made up of competitive states that came to play major roles. The Dutch republic managed to become largely influential and powerful through trade. The Depth And Complexity Of Empathy Most definitions of empathy are based on the same core idea empathy is the ability to understand and identify someone else s thoughts and feelings, as if they were one s own (wordreference online dictionary, 2016). Although it s been said there are probably nearly as many definitions of empathy as people working on the topic. (de Vignemont Singer, 2006, p.435) suggesting that there is no singular way to even define empathy, let alone explain its impact on our behaviour. Due to the sheer depth and complexity of empathy it s understandable that each discipline within psychology presents it s own explanation for why we experience it, and how it can affect our interaction with the world around us. Psychologists have been exploring empathy for decades, in hope of gaining a complete grasp of what it means and how it can vary between each person, therefore its important we look at different psychological perspectives to try to understand it s many dimensions. For a number of years empathy was difficult to measure, as there was limited basis of empirical data. This changed with the progression of technology, as the biological approach could then using brain imaging techniques to visually represent the activity going on in the brain and biological psychologists could then research links between the activity and behavioural traits like empathy. One way in which biological psychology has helped us understand empathy as a complex trait is through exploration of mirror neurons.

I am very curious as to why there are melodies considered good or bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested in learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic greatly. I want to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic or discordant by looking into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research on this topic, I will focus mainly on the emission of sound waves through instruments and how the notes come together. Sound travels as a transverse wave which means it takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These waves are used to produce different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound waves have different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes, which change the volume of notes. Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent these changes by modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will allow me to demonstrate how

I remember being in kindergarten and my mom would sit me down at the kitchen table at my grandma s house and she taught me basic algebra. She taught me how to think critically and problem solve. She helped me in all my academic courses, and taught me math from 6th grade trough my junior year in high school. Majoring in engineeringwas never a question, what type was always the big question. When I was fourteen I underwent a few extensive surgeries. All though the surgeries weren t fun to experience it peaked my interest in how the body self heals. The idea of becoming a doctor quickly crossed my mind. Junior year after my most recent surgery I came across Utah State s engineering programs and learned of biological engineering. It seemed to fit me best. It is the perfect undergraduate degree. It has plenty of science, my favorite subject; easy path for pre health, if I so desire to take that route; and it is a form of engineering, the best major to have. I never had resistance in becoming an engineer, if anything I had pressure to become one. It was never bad pressure, it was the kind I need and appreciate from my family, teachers, and friends. They helped me recognize my natural abilities and
  • 53. The Golden Age Of Detective Fiction The period of the 1920s and 30s is generally referred to as the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. During this period, a number of very popular writers emerged, mostly British but with a notable subset of American and New Zealand writers. Female writers constituted a major portion of notable Golden Age writers, including Agatha Christie, the most famous of the Golden Age writers, and among the most famous authors of any genre, of all time. Various conventions of the detective genre were standardized during the Golden Age, and in 1929 some of them were codified by writer Ronald Knox in his Decalogue of rules for detective fiction, among them to avoid supernatural elements, all of which were meant to guarantee that, in Knox s words, a detective story must have as its main interest the unravelling of a mystery; a mystery whose elements are clearly presented to the reader at an early stage in the proceedings, and whose nature is such as to arouse curiosity, a curiosity which is gratified at the end. Many of the most popular books of the Golden Age were written by Agatha Christie, who produced long series of books featuring her detectives Hercule Poirotand Miss Marple, amongst others, and usually including a complex puzzle for the reader to try to unravel. Christie s novels include, Murder on the Orient Express (1934), Death on the Nile (1937), and And Then There Were Noe (1939). Also popular were the stories featuring Dorothy L. Sayers s Lord Peter Wimsey and S. S. Van

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Should Megan talk directly with higher up? Why or why not? Yes, Megan should have talked to higher up since the beginning but since she believed Joe had taken the right protocol that everyone takes, she didn t tell the head nurse and then one Jow left she was super busy taking care of his patients as well. Nursing Informatics Personal Statement My ultimate goal at the moment is to complete my Masters in Health Informatics Administration and sit for the RHIA exam in December prior to embarking on a new career in Informatics. Having worked in the healthcare industry for the past 12 years, I have some knowledge with electronic health records such as with Cerner Millenium and EPIC Portfolio and how they contribute to efficiency in clinical documentation in order to improve patients care. As a current registered nurse, I use the EHR on a daily basis to document patients health and physical assessment including medication administration. However, my ultimate plan eventually is to leave bedside nursing entirely once I am able to secure a job position in either health or nursing informatics.
