Upon completing a stage in life, such as the completion of a graduate program, it is productive to reflect upon that experience and ponder the motivation for that course of action, as well as ponder the utility of that experience. As my graduate program comes to a conclusion, now is the time for me to discuss the components of the program that have been of particular value to me, and why such program components have been of value.
I appreciated learning about different teaching methodologies and perspectives regarding education. I found that learning about constructivism and objectivism quite valuable. I always knew that there were philosophical concepts that supported specific teaching methods, but I only had a superficial understanding of such ideas. Learning in greater detail about such topics helped me understand my own educational experience in a new dimension. It also helped me consider the value of a variety of perspectives to be used in the classroom. Good teaching for me includes of variety of methods that are known, used, and balanced as part of the teaching and learning experiences. I also found value in these topics because it helped me discern what kind of teaching practice I naturally gravitate towards, as well as help expose my weakness in teaching methodology. Overall, I think it helped me understand how to be a balanced teaching professional, and ways to achieve or strive for that balance.

Senior Seminar Reflection
- 1. Honori Yamada Senior Seminar 4 December 12, 2011 Senior Seminar Concluding Reflection During the course of this semester, Senior Seminar had really helped me understand a deeper understanding of theory knowledge that it never taught in other subjects. Learning about the different ways of knowing and the some of the major areas of knowing really helped me reflect on my academics and how my academics at school has benefitted within me. As a senior and knowing that the end is becoming very close, I believe this class was best for me to learn and reflect all my experiences and studies that I have done and realize the advantages of what I have learned. Throughout this course, I was definitely able to accomplish something deeper than I would have never been able to realize without all the classes in Senior Seminar. One of the greatest highlights during this course was the socratic seminars. Although the seminars were difficult to discuss and find the flow within the group discussion, I was really able to see a growth in change from our first seminar to the last seminar. As a class, I believe we were able to openly express our thoughts and ideas confidently and further ask questions and exchange ideas when we were curious. Although preparing for a seminar was hard labor in having to know all the chapters and theories/concepts, all the hard work in preparing showed a definite benefit once the socratic seminar began. I believe I was able to enjoy the seminars simply because I knew the subject deep enough and I was interested in the subject. As a result, I believe I was able to really understand and learn the roles and expectations for a true socratic seminar by taking this course and applying my knowledge. Another great part I was able to realize during this course of Senior Seminar was the blogposts. Although the blogposts were assigned fairly at the end where students were rushing and stressing to get things done, once I refer back to the whole process, I was able to realize a great significance and benefit. From posting all the ways of knowings and areas of knowings onto my blog, I was greatly able to reflect back and review the major parts within each of my subject courses. This is important to me because as a whole, I was able to look back to my accomplishments I have made during the past four years of my high school life. Furthermore, the analysis also helped me really understand the purpose of the subject course/assignment and how each of the subjects had an influence on me. In a more general sense, working with my blog also

Referring back to this course, I was able to accomplish and realize many importance within me and find accomplished I have contributed throughout my high school years. I truly believe all the hard work had paid off to find out the real purpose of studying at school and how it has influenced me. Once again, I believe that two of the most impactful assignments of this course were the socratic seminars and working with the blogposts. These two assignments really helped me reflect back to academic history and made me realize the importance as a whole. Furthermore, learning the theories of the ways of knowing and the areas of knowing was definitely worthwhile as I truly believe it will further help me understand and apply them in my future.
