NHS Horizons is at a critical point in its development. An increasing proportion of
our work is driven through commissions and collaborations with other teams,
both within NHS England and beyond.
The need for us to incorporate more sophisticated business development, client
management and commercial processes alongside our internal governance and
finance requirements is pivotal to our continued success. The Senior Business
Manager role will be central to meeting this aim.
As Senior Business Manager, the post holder will be responsible for helping NHS
Horizons to shape our future culture, structure and work-flow to meet our
emerging business needs. The post-holder will hold operational responsibility for
all business management and related processes within NHS Horizons. S/he will
lead a dynamic business team to deliver an effective service supporting NHS
Horizons’ senior managers and programme leads to deliver excellent customer
service, high-quality client facing programmes and fully compliant processes in
terms of finance, HR, procurement and governance activities. The role supports
the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning,
commissioning and service.
This is a leadership role within NHS Horizons, designed to build the business
team’s capabilities to develop a strong service delivery.

• Annually we run the (virtual) School
for Change Agents.
• It is the most popular ‘live’ virtual
training offer in the NHS.
• More than 7,000 participants took
part in the School in February and
March 2018.
• More than 20,000 contributions were
made to the live sessions, which are
openly available via YouTube.
• The School is accredited for
Continuing Professional Development
purposes, and draws participants from
more than a dozen countries globally.

• The Horizons team has been working with the NHS England Nursing Directorate since
August 2017 to co-design and deliver a campaign to transform perceptions of nursing
and midwifery, as part of national efforts to recruit and retain more nurses and
midwives.
• The opportunities offered by a career in nursing and midwifery have never been better,
with roles ranging from the essential day to day caring responsibilities – to the highly
technical, research, executive leadership – and many, many more.
• The campaign works with nurses, midwives, students and others to promote the
exciting breadth of careers available. We want teachers to promote nursing and
midwifery as career of choice, we want nurses and midwives to reignite their pride in
the professions, and we want system leaders and decision makers to make sure nursing
and midwifery expertise is at the heart of shaping future healthcare policy.

S/he will lead a dynamic business team to deliver an effective service supporting NHS Horizons’ senior managers and programme leads to deliver excellent customer service, high-quality client facing programmes and fully compliant processes in terms of finance, HR, procurement and governance activities. The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service. This is a leadership role within NHS Horizons, designed to build the business team’s capabilities to develop a strong service delivery.
