This document describes a student project to design a semi-automatic system for setting camber in train underframes. Camber setting is currently a manual process that takes time and reduces accuracy. The proposed system uses hydraulic cylinders to set camber instead of manual screw jacks. It is expected to reduce time and improve accuracy over manual methods. The system design includes hydraulic cylinders, valves, and a control system to set both large and small camber angles in the underframe. Pneumatic clamps are also designed to automatically secure the side walls during camber setting. Diagrams and calculations are provided to show the proposed system design.
