The term 'semantic field' refers to a group of words linked by meaning related to a specific subject, introduced by linguists in the mid-20th century. There are two types of semantic fields: ordered (like months) and unordered (like animal families), which help build emotion and provide undertones in literary works. The difference between semantic fields and lexical fields is that semantic fields focus on the meaning behind words, while lexical fields analyze how words interact within sentences.
